Back on my "the timeloops had a huge physical toll on Siffrin" thoughts. I headcanon that he lost a LOT of weight very quickly from the insane amounts of craft use burning energy like crazy. By act 5 they're notably underweight but doesn't notice because disassociation + Big Cloak :[

Also thinking about Siffrin's internalized ableism. How he beats himself up for missing important items in the house due to his missing eye. How their memory loss makes them devalue their intelligence. How Loop has to reassure them that it isn't their fault that these things happen. How every perceived fault and flaw makes them feel useless and burdensome.

This leads into my postcanon interpretation of Siffrin having chronic pain and fatigue. I mentioned it briefly before but I don't think they're gonna take this development well initially. Like at all. He is going to attempt to hide it and power through for as long as physically possible and only starts talking when he's literally unable to get out of bed for the fourth time in a month and it is undeniable that something is wrong. They have a whole ass existential crisis about their usefulness and how it ties to his worthiness and all of the usual Siffrin-typical hangups. It takes a good few months before they get into the habit of using mobility aids and taking medication, and even then he has to beat back his initial gut reactions of guilt and shame for needing them.

Hello! A small addition as a disabled, mobility aid user who is friends with other mobility aid users, if someone drops their mobility aid, please please please ask if we would like help getting it first and do not just grab it. For me, not knowing a strangers intentions as they grab an extension of my body that helps me move is terrifying, as I don't know if they are going to actually return it. + Offering first instead of insisting on helping without warning offers more agency in my life that is not often afforded to me.

If someone drops something by you, pick it up or help them pick it up. This goes double if people drop a bunch of stuff that scatters everywhere, as it's more likely they're going to need help picking it up.

Some people might have back or joint issues that make bending over to pick things up more difficult or more painful. But even if someone has a healthy back and joints it's still always nice to know the people around you are willing to help you even with the small stuff, and it's a kind gesture that can make someone's day a little nicer.

Been thinking about my headcanon of post-loops Siffrin being disabled with chronic pain a lot

I subscribe to the idea of the whole timeloop situation taking a very abnormally huge amount of craft to keep going. I mean, Sif was literally breaking the fabric of reality itself possibly hundreds of times. That much intense craft use could very likely cause some permanent internal damage to somebody. So after everything is said and done I headcanon that Siffrin develops significant chronic pain and fatigue from what is essentially long-term craft exhaustion. They end up needing a cane, have longer cooldown times for craft use, and generally need to lay down and sleep a lot more than they used to. And since this is Siffrin we're talking about, they'll definitely take this really hard, at least at first. Sif is used to being the party leader for his speed and agility, so having that taken from him is a huge hit to his self-worth. Sif values his usefulness to people very highly and one of their biggest hangups is the idea of being burdensome, and they subsequently hate making people worry about them. Initially his first instinct is to try to power through it in typical Siffrin fashion, but after a little while it gets to be too much to bear alone and so he confides in the fam about his health concerns. And they are of course as supportive as they always were. They're all willing to slow down and help out whenever needed. Get loved!!!!!! You are loved!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I love seeing Siffrin healing and being happy postcanon, I know damn well that it's gonna be a long uphill battle to get to that point. I can tell you from experience, when you leave a long-term traumatic situation very often your brain doesn't really know how to react and remains in survival mode for a long time even when it isn't needed anymore. And things get Bad. An important aspect of recovery is remembering that things are bound to get worse before they get better. What I'm sayin is that Sif is going to crash HARD in the months following the loops. Developing brand new fears and neuroses alongside the old ones, slipping into bad habits and lashing out and spiraling into depression and isolating himself out of fear and despair and just being a whole Mess. Just a deadly concoction of trauma induced psychosis, disassociation, and depression. guhhh. One of my favorite perspectives to think about is "guy who just escaped Unspeakable Trauma and doesn't know what to do with themselves and feels forever broken".

I'm not sayin this to be a downer or anything, there IS hope for poor Siffrin obviously. They have a support system! Their family is VERY aware of their mental state, they've just gotta learn to communicate well enough to be helpful (SIFFRIN ISN'T THE ONLY ONE GUILTY OF BEING BAD AT TALKING! IM SHAKING ALL OF THESE GUYS /silly). A happy ending is in reach, it's just gonna take a whole lot of work and patience to get there. Siffrin isn't gonna give up. They did not go through all of that to lose sight of the stability and happiness they wanted so badly.
