Robert Anthony Plant(born 20 August 1948) is a singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead vocalist for Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin Plant was a very successful band throughout the ’70s. The Band was one of the first rock stars. He was the great lead singer with long blonde hair, a distinctive voice, and a powerful stage presence that set him apart from other lead vocalists and played a part in Led Zeppelin’s signature sound that helped set the tone for heavy metal.   He wrote a bunch of fantasy and whimsical songs which were much different from all the hard rock bands at the time. After the Band split in 1980, he occasionally collaborated with bandmate Jimmy Page on various projects. In 2012 he and the remaining members of Led Zeppelin received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and most recently teamed up with now-wife Alison Krauss have teamed up and are playing bluegrass folk, country, and even some songs from their own earlier careers in a short-lived supergroup with Jeff Beck and others. Plant still performs with Page and other artists; he is an influential figure in rock music.
