Well, the cover and lead story was by Nick Cardy, pencils and inks.

The splash you posted is the title page for the backup story, and Frank Giacoia with Joe Giella are credited with the INKS. The lettering is by John Costanza.

I can’t say for certain, but it’s quite plausible that Nick Cardy did breakdowns for the backup, and Giacoia got a shot as lead finisher, with Joe Giella sweeping up behind him.

Great question, thank you. While lot of artists and Writers have apparently quit Tumblr ( for example Terry Moore) there are still many good comics Tumblr posters. While I undoubtably will forget some at least check out @balu8 @towritecomicsonherarms @ungoliantschilde @dinosaurgiantpenny

Yes there are many others too so if you find more those who appreciate comics do let me know too

Lynn Varley painted work with the Miller/Janson lines on an acetate overlay. This is probably the best splash page in the whole series. Beautiful, vibrant colors from Lynn Varley’s brush. This piece is a perfect stand-alone image of Batman and Robin (Carrie Kelley, the first female, full-time Robin) soaring high above Gotham City, an icon symbolizing the entire storyline Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns defined the best of 1980s comics, and has since been universally acknowledged as one of the most important and influential stories ever published. I'm thrilled to put this on my wall. Special thanks to A for giving me the opportunity to own such a wonderful piece.
