The table stretched long and elegant, adorned with glowing candles, fresh white roses, and golden accents that glimmered under the soft lighting.
The Rhode dinner party was intimate yet impossibly glamorous, filled with A-list models, influencers, and celebrities exchanging easy laughter and clinking glasses of wine.
You sat near the middle, nestled between Kelsey Merritt and Hailey Baldwin-Bieber herself. The conversation around you flowed effortlessly, topics jumping from upcoming campaigns to skincare routines, but your mind kept slipping away.
Franco.
You’d seen the updates from Brazil earlier in the day: practice sessions, behind-the-scenes paddock photos, and the occasional fan spotting of him strolling through the garage. He’d sent you a quick text—Wish you were here—and it had left you staring at your phone far longer than you cared to admit.
“Y/N, you’re quiet tonight,” Hermés said, nudging you gently with her elbow. You blinked, snapping out of your thoughts. “Sorry, just… tired, I guess. It’s been a long week.”
Hermés’ lips quirked up knowingly. “A long week, or you’re thinking about someone?”
Your cheeks flushed, and you waved her off. “No one important.”
“Right,” Hermés said with a smirk, clearly not buying it. “Let me guess, he’s not in New York?” Kelsey leaned in, catching onto the conversation. “Wait, wait—who are we talking about?”
“No one,” you said quickly, feeling the heat rise in your face.
Kelsey raised an eyebrow. “You’re a terrible liar, Y/N. Spill.”
Alex, who was also there with you, grinned, clearly enjoying the spectacle. “It’s someone at the Grand Prix, isn’t it? A certain someone we had dinner with the other weekend perhaps?”
You sighed, giving in. “Fine. Yes. Maybe.” The women who you were conversing with gasped in unison, and you wanted to sink into the plush chair and disappear.
“Who?” Kelsey pressed. “I need details.”
“Franco Colapinto,” you admitted reluctantly, sipping your wine to avoid their reactions. “Oh my god, the driver?” Hailey exclaimed, leaning back in surprise. “How did I not know this?”
“It’s not like that,” you said quickly, trying to downplay it. “We’re just… close.”
“Sure,” Kelsey said, clearly not convinced. “Close enough for you to be daydreaming about him at a dinner party?”
You groaned, burying your face in your hands. “You two are relentless.” Hailey laughed, reaching over to squeeze your shoulder. “Hey, I get it. Long-distance is rough, but you’re killing it tonight. He’d be an idiot not to notice.”
The conversation around you shifted as the waitstaff began serving the main course, and for a moment, you allowed yourself to relax.
You exchanged a few words with the celebrity to your left and joined in on the collective laughter when someone shared a funny story. But every now and then, your thoughts drifted back to Brazil.
As the night wore on, you excused yourself to the terrace, needing a breath of fresh air. The cool breeze was a welcome relief, and you pulled out your phone, scrolling through social media.
A post from the paddock caught your eye—a candid photo of Franco, leaning against a wall in his race suit, laughing at something off-camera. The caption read: Driver of the day… tomorrow, we’re calling it.
You smiled, feeling an ache in your chest. You wished you were there, seeing him in his element, hearing his laugh in person.
The sound of heels clicking on the stone terrace pulled you from your thoughts, and you looked up to see Hermés joining you, two glasses of champagne in hand.
“Thought you might need this,” she said, handing you one.
“Thanks,” you said softly, taking a sip.
Hermés leaned against the railing beside you, her gaze sweeping over the city lights. “You know,” she said after a moment, “it’s okay to miss him. Even here.”
You sighed, staring down at the bubbling champagne in your glass. “I just feel like I should be there. Brazil is such a big weekend for him.”
“And you’ll be at the next one,” Hermés pointed out gently. “You’re allowed to have your own life too, Y/N. Don’t forget that.” You nodded, appreciating her words. But as the two of you stood in silence, your phone buzzed in your hand.
A message from Franco: Good luck charming the beauty world tonight. I know you’re killing it.
You smiled down at the screen, your heart feeling just a little bit lighter. Hermés peeked over your shoulder and grinned.
“See? He gets it. Now, let’s finish this champagne and get back in there before people start wondering if we’re plotting something.”
You laughed, clinking your glass against hers. For now, you’d let the night carry you. But as you returned to the dinner party, Franco wasn’t far from your thoughts.

The rhythmic hum of the elevator was the only sound as you and your friend, Hermés, made your way back up to your hotel room.
The Rhode dinner had been as glamorous as expected, but you were exhausted, the weight of the evening pressing down on your shoulders.
“Finally,” Hermés groaned as the doors slid open. “I’m kicking these heels off and ordering room service.”
You chuckled weakly, trailing behind her into the suite. As she collapsed onto the couch, you moved toward the TV, grabbing the remote.
“Let’s see what we missed,” you murmured, flipping through the channels until Sky Sports filled the screen.
The familiar buzz of the paddock was accompanied by the unmistakable voice of the commentator. “And for those just tuning in, we’ve had a dramatic qualifying session here in Brazil. The rain has made conditions incredibly challenging, and unfortunately, Franco Colapinto was caught in a nasty crash on his flying lap.”
You froze, the words hitting you like a punch to the gut.
The screen showed a replay of the crash—Franco’s car losing grip on the slick track, sliding off into the barriers with a loud thud.
Your stomach twisted at the sight of the wreckage.
“Y/N,” Hermés said gently, sitting up and watching your reaction.
“He’s alright and the yellow flag has been waved,” the commentator continued as the replay ended.
“Colapinto was able to climb out of the car on his own and has been cleared by the medical team, but it’s a disappointing end to his qualifying session.”
Even with the reassurance, your hands were already trembling as you grabbed your phone. “Fuck, why didn’t I just go? I should’ve been there to support him” you muttered, opening Twitter.
“He’s probably still with his team, besides, it’s not your fault for not being able to go. The weather conditions were the main culprit,” Hermés reasoned, but you weren’t listening.
Your fingers flew across the screen as you tweeted:
What the hell is going on in Brazil? Someone tell me Franco’s okay.
Within seconds, the replies of fans at the grand prix flooded in:
— He’s fine, but that crash was scary 😭
— He walked away, don’t worry!
— Y/N, call him!!!
Hermés raised an eyebrow. “Do you really think tweeting is the best way to get answers?”
“I can’t just sit here,” you shot back defensively while refreshing your feed. Sure enough, most of Franco’s fans also had quite the scare after seeing the crash.
Before you could spiral any further, your phone buzzed with a text. Franco.
I’m fine, Y/N. Promise. Just a bad moment with the weather. Don’t worry about me.
You exhaled sharply, relief washing over you as you stared at the message. “He texted me,” you said, holding up your phone.
“Good,” Hermés said, leaning back against the couch. “Now you can stop freaking out and, I don’t know, breathe?”
You ignored her, quickly typing back:
You scared me, you idiot. Are you sure you’re okay?
His reply came almost instantly.
I’m fine, hermosa. Just need to sleep this one off. Go to bed, okay? I’ll call you tomorrow.
You read the message over twice, a small smile tugging at your lips despite the lingering worry in your chest.
“He’s okay,” you said quietly, more to yourself than to Hermés.
“Of course he is,” Hermés replied, tossing a pillow at you. “Now stop stressing before you give yourself wrinkles.” You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped.
You placed your phone on the nightstand and let out a long sigh, trying to push away the images of Franco’s crash.
He said he was fine—he texted you—but the knot in your chest refused to loosen.
“Why are you still frowning?” Hermés asked, glancing up from the room service menu.
“I don’t know, you admitted, rubbing your temples. “I just… I feel better knowing he’s okay, but I’m still on edge.”
Hermés smirked knowingly. “Gee, I wonder why. Maybe because you like him?”
You scoffed immediately, sitting up straighter. “No. No, I don’t. We’re just friends—fake dating, remember? For the clout. For the stupid ‘plot.’”
“And yet,” she said, raising an eyebrow, “you’re acting like a girlfriend who just saw her boyfriend’s life flash before her eyes.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but no words came out. Why were you so worried? He wasn’t your real boyfriend. You didn’t actually have feelings for him… right?
Shaking your head, you tried to reason with yourself. “He’s my friend, Hermés. I would’ve freaked out if it were you or anyone else I cared about too.”
Hermés didn’t look convinced, but she only shrugged. “Sure. Keep telling yourself that.”
You lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. You were overreacting, weren’t you? This whole fake-dating thing was meant to be fun, uncomplicated—a little media buzz and nothing more. So why did the thought of him being hurt make your stomach twist so much?
You turned on your side, hugging the pillow tightly. “It’s just because I saw the crash,” you muttered to yourself. “That’s it. That’s all it is.”
But deep down, you weren’t sure you believed it.

The rain pattered softly against the window as you curled up on your bed, a blanket draped over your legs and a cup of tea growing cold on the bedside table.
The Brazil Grand Prix played on your laptop, the commentators’ excited voices filling the room. Your eyes were glued to the screen, the tension of the race palpable even through the broadcast.
Franco was running well, holding his position despite the slick conditions. But the rain was relentless, and every lap made you more nervous.
“And trouble in Sector 2—Franco Colapinto has gone off track!” Your heart sank as the screen showed Franco’s car spinning out of control, skidding straight into the barriers.
The impact was loud even through the broadcast, and you instinctively covered your mouth with your hand.
The replay looped on the screen, showing his car slamming sideways into the wall, the tires spraying water everywhere.
“Oh my god,” you whispered, sitting upright.
The commentators spoke quickly, reassuring the audience. “It looks like Franco is moving—yes, there he is. He’s climbing out of the car and giving a wave to the crowd. That’s a good sign.”
But the image of the crash replayed in your mind. You couldn’t shake the sight of his car crumpled against the barrier, the rain beating down on him as he walked away.
“Why does this keep happening?” you muttered to yourself, your fingers clutching your phone.
Your phone then buzzed before you could even react. Franco’s name popped up on the screen, and you froze for a second before answering.
“Are you okay?” you blurted out, your voice shaky.
“Hey, hermosa,” he said softly, his voice steady despite what had just happened. “I’m fine. I promise.”
“Fine?” you repeated incredulously, standing up and pacing. “You just crashed into the barriers, Franco. That didn’t look ‘fine’ to me.”
He chuckled lightly, though it did nothing to calm you. “It wasn’t that bad. The car’s worse off than I am. I’m already back with the team, no injuries, no issues. You can stop worrying now.”
You pressed a hand to your forehead, trying to steady your breathing. “You scared the hell out of me. Again. Do you even realize how terrifying that looked?”
There was a pause on his end before he spoke again, his tone softer. “I know. I’m sorry. But you don’t have to worry about me, okay? I wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me if I could help it.”
“That’s not exactly comforting,” you muttered, sinking back onto the bed.
“I mean it,” he insisted. “I know how much this freaks you out, and I hate that I put you through it. But I’m fine, Y/N. Really.”
You closed your eyes, exhaling slowly. “You’re sure?”
“I’m sure,” he said, his voice firm. “Now do me a favor and stop stressing. I don’t want you losing sleep over me.”
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes, though a small smile tugged at your lips. “Easier said than done, Colapinto.”
“Good,” he said, his tone lighter now. “I’d be offended if you didn’t worry about me at least a little.”
“Idiot,” you muttered, but the word lacked any real bite.
“Goodnight, hermosa,” he said, his voice warm.
“Goodnight,” you replied softly before hanging up.
You placed your phone down and let out a sigh, the tension in your chest easing slightly. But as you sat there in the quiet of your room, you couldn’t help but wonder why you cared so much. He wasn’t your boyfriend—this whole thing was supposed to be fake.
So why did seeing him crash make your stomach twist? Why did hearing his voice calm you down so easily?
You shook your head, pulling the blanket tighter around you. “It’s just the stress of watching it live,” you told yourself. Yet deep down, you couldn’t fully convince yourself it was true.

New WIP alert!
Ok so I pretty much completely scrapped my fic A Born Racer except the barebones concept and have redone it. I have no name for it yet but it is going to be a sim racer to formula 1 driver fic, with appearances from a retired driver as a mentor. I'm thinking I'll set it in 2022? I still have to figure a lot out but yeahhhhhhhhh, I'm excited about it :)
Heres a small excerpt i've written for the beginning:
Her heart pounds in her chest, adrenaline surging through her still as she leans back in her chair. The track fades from her view, replaced by the real-world of her sim room. A notification pops up on her screen: “Message Received – Brandon Baldwin” She clicks it open, not expecting much—just another fan message or sponsor query. But this one is different. We’ve been watching you for some time now, and I have to say, your performance today was nothing short of spectacular. We are interested in having a conversation about potential opportunities in a real racing series. Possibly even Formula 1. We believe you have the talent, precision, and racecraft to transition into the real world of motorsport. If you’re interested, please let us know.

Baldwin Motorsports President BJ Baldwin is a 7 time off road racing champion, and twice has won the Baja 1000 Race. He is also a well known second amendment proponent with a valid concealed carry permit. Not the kind of guy anyone should target. But they did early Wednesday morning, and only one of them lived to regret it.

Jenson Button Returning to Silverton to Race
2009 Formula 1 World Champion, Jenson Button will make his McLaren Customer Racing 720S GT3 debut in the Silverstone 500 race this weekend, November 7/8 – three years after he last competed in a McLaren, at the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix. The 15-time Grand Prix winner headlines a record entry for McLaren in the British GT Championship.
Button, who drove for McLaren in Formula 1 for seven seasons, will take part in the three-hour race alongside his Customer Racing Team Jenson Team Rocket RJN co-owner, Chis Buncombe, at the home of the British Grand Prix. His first appearance in a McLaren GT3 car comes as several McLaren Customer Racing Teams line up with hopes of title successes in the final round of the 2020 British GT season – including the race-winning Jenson Team Rocket RJN crew of McLaren Professional Driver Michael O’Brien and World’s Fastest Gamer James Baldwin, who are in contention for the overall GT3 Drivers’ Championship.
“This will be my first taste of a GT3 car but I’m really looking forward it. It will be lovely to join our team and lining-up in the McLaren 720S with my best buddy Chris Buncombe. It’s great to come back and race on UK soil again and a big thank you to our partners that have made this possible. It’s a shame that this final round of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship will take place without fans present, but I hope they will tune in to follow our progress!” Jenson Button
Covid-19 restrictions mean that the event will take place behind closed doors, however the race will be broadcast live on the Sky F1 channel - for which Jenson provides expert insight - as well as British GT’s live-streaming channels.
In addition to Jenson Team Rocket RJN’s title ambitions, several McLaren Customer Racing Teams are in contention for silverware this weekend, with nine GT3 entries making this the biggest McLaren entry in the series since the 720GT3 made its championship debut last year:
2 Seas Motorsport will be aiming to end the season as the top McLaren Customer Racing Team, holding a 3.5-point advantage over Jenson Team Rocket RJN. Their three-pronged attack features GT3 Silver Cup title contenders Jack Mitchell and Jordan Witt, as well as Angus Fender and Dean Macdonald, plus Al Faisal Al Zubair and McLaren Professional Driver Martin Kodric.
Optimum Motorsport fields McLaren Professional Driver Ollie Wilkinson and McLaren Academy Driver Lewis Proctor, Brendan Iribe and Ollie Millroy, plus Mark Crader and Alex Mortimer.
Balfe Motorsport – which gave the 720S GT3 its British GT debut last year - returns to GT3 action with Shaun Balfe and McLaren Factory Driver Rob Bell.
In addition to the GT3 championship challenge, McLaren Customer Racing Teams are in contention for GT4 class honors with five 570S GT4 entered for Silverstone:
HHC Motorsport’s crew of McLaren Academy Driver Jordan Collard and co-driver Patrick Matthiesen are currently just 2.5-points behind the leader in the GT4 standings and are also in contention for the GT4 Silver Cup title. Gus Bowers and Chris Wesemael will be helping HHC to claim the GT4 Teams’ Championship.
Balfe Motorsport’s McLaren Factory Driver Euan Hankey and double Pure McLaren champion Mia Flewitt will be crowned GT4 Pro-Am champions, having secured the title prior to this weekend. Also representing Balfe Motorsport in GT4 will be Jan Klingelnberg and Warren Hughes, plus Lars Dahmann and Charlie Hollings.
Qualifying for this weekend’s final round of the British GT Championship at Silverstone is scheduled to take place at 15:00 on Saturday, with the three-hour race starting at 12:50 on Sunday. Live coverage will be available to watch on British GT’s website and SRO’s GT World Youtube channel, whilst Sky F1 will also be broadcasting the race live from 12:45 on Sunday.

Mechanism Forza Horizon 3 for PCs and XONE is a mix of arcade racing with a bit of simulation. The action this time takes place in Australia, and the map you'll see is two times bigger than the one from the second episode. The main attraction is, however, a park full of machines. The team of Playground Games included as many as 350 vehicles, representing different classes - from a fast Lamborghini Centenario, through off-road cars (e.g. Trophy Truck B.J Baldwin), to buggies, including Penchall Choll. What's relevant, each of the machines can be modified visually, changing paint, alloys, label patterns, and also fitting all packages for expanding the bodyworks. In the game the player can take part in hundreds of ready races or modify them according to own likings. The events created this way are automatically saved and shared with others: obviously it works the other way. Additionally, Bucket List, that is special challenges from The Wish List, has come back. Also, in this case we can build them from scratch and share. We compete against artificial intelligence based on Driveatar system, i.e. drivers whose skills reflect the abilities of other players, also those of our friends. In tje game Forza Horizon 3 we can control their level of difficulty, which impacts the prizes for completed competitions. All this is also filled up with the auction house, where we buy and sell the image patterns on vehicles, machines etc.
