Sunjae so in love with Sol that his soul remembers even if he hasn't lived those memories.
Sunjae so in love with Sol that he'll be smiling like a fool anytime Sol gives him attention.
Flustered by the memories...confused by the feelings....beefing with Tae Sung just because.....being an utter fool in front of her...absolutely no dignity in front of the lady he wants to impress.
Hence, fates said, okay fine...you win loverboy. You really have no existence in any timeline where you don't fall in love with this sunshine girl. Go get her then.
And Tae Sung please you don't d word instead. Please.

Hellbound (Season 2)
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Hellbound (Season 2, 2024, South Korea)
Director: Yeon Sang Ho
Writer: Yeon Sang Ho & Choi Gyu Seok (based on their own webtoon)
Mini-review:
I feel like I'm one of the few people who loved the first season of Hellbound. It used an original and terrifying concept to showcase a fascinating exploration of themes like religious fanaticism, sectarianism and media manipulation. And this second (and final?) season delivers the goods once again. Yeon Sang Ho continues to be a master director of action scenes, plus the performances he gets from this cast are simply superb. On top of that, the CGI is much better than it was in the first one; I'm glad they made an effort to improve on that. I'm sure many people will stay mad at the show for refusing to give clear answers until the very end, but I think that makes the viewer feel the same chaos as the characters. If this is really the end, I have to say I really enjoyed what this dark fantasy had to offer.

LIGHT SHOP
GENRES: Drama
SUMMARY: Never give up on those who are lost, because they might just find their way back to the light.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Miscommunications, maternal love, mortuary respect, basketball gifts, second chances, candy wrappers, keen detective work, listening, celebrating, hair in the drain, red high heels, schoolyard friends, eternal patience, choosing the wrong bus home, first loves, and jjajangmyeon.
HOT TAKE: I am honestly emotionally wrecked after these short but slow 8 episodes. There's just something that makes me sob buckets when a show dives deep into the rituals, stages, and possible triumphs of the afterlife (and those waiting/suffering for those struggling to return).
Although I would have liked to have seen a shorter edit of Ju Ji Hoon's crying seen in episode 7, I applaud his range since that's not a side of his acting ability we see too often. Speaking of acting ability, how does Park Bo Young convey so much with just a glance? Masterful.

Family By Choice
Tumblr media
This series hooked me from episode 1. They family dynamics, the relations between the children felt real. The circumstances that bring these people together, are heartbreaking, but they love they feel for each other is uplifting. I liked how the children became teens and later young adults. Their relationship with each other and their paths. The ending is not an ending, it's just another day in their lives. And we hope that Hae Joon and Dal have a great relationship, a strong one that will stand against her mother. We hope that San Ha's mother will finally find peace and leave the young man be. This family by choice is sweet and I enjoyed witnessing the story unfold.

5 of the best K-Dramas featuring Nam Joo Hyuk
Tumblr media
Given the fact that it’s Nam Joo Hyuk’s 30th birthday, Let’s discuss some of his absolutely enchanting performances.
1. Twenty Five Twenty One (2022)
Tumblr media
Hyuk shines in moments of quiet reflection, portraying Yi Jin’s internal struggles with subtle shifts in expression and body language. When faced with setbacks, his clenched jaw and downcast eyes speak volumes about his suppressed frustration. Yet, his determination to overcome obstacles shines through in his focused gaze and unwavering stance during fencing matches.
The true strength of Hyuk’s performance lies in his chemistry with Kim Tae Ri, who portrays Na Hee Do. Their interactions are filled with playful banter, heartfelt support, and moments of unspoken longing. Hyuk perfectly portrays the awkward fumbling of first love, his nervous glances and shy smiles conveying the depth of Yi Jin’s feelings.
Overall, Nam Joo Hyuk delivers a captivating performance in Twenty Five Twenty One. He brings warmth and depth to the character of Baek Yi Jin, making him a relatable and endearing protagonist whose journey resonates with viewers long after the finale.
2. Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo (2016)
Tumblr media
Hyuk masterfully navigates these contrasting facets of Joon-hyung. He delivers comedic moments with impeccable timing, his playful bickering with Bok-joo and awkward attempts at flirting sparking genuine laughter. Yet, when the character grapples with loss and personal struggles, Hyuk imbues him with a quiet pain that resonates deeply. His emotional delivery, particularly in scenes where Joon-hyung opens up to Bok-joo, showcases a maturity beyond his years.
Through Hyuk’s performance, Joon-hyung emerges as more than just the love interest. He becomes a pillar of support for Bok-joo, encouraging her dreams and celebrating her victories. Their blossoming romance feels genuine and heartwarming, fueled by mutual respect and understanding. Hyuk’s chemistry with Lee Sung-kyung, who portrays Bok-joo, is undeniable, making their journey of love and self-discovery all the more engaging.
In conclusion, Nam Joo Hyuk’s performance in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo transcends the typical K-drama heartthrob role. He brings depth and nuance to Joon-hyung, making him a character you root for and remember long after the credits roll.

DRAMA REVIEW | Queen of Tears (2024)
Tumblr media
Queen of Tears strongest point are the performances, directing and cinematography, there's no doubt about this. Scriptwriter Park Ji Eun has a talent for teaming up with great talents, particular actors, and that's in my opinion the main reason why her drama are usually so successful. She manages to write really interesting and endearing characters, and put them in entertaining situations that grasp the attention of the viewer.
The casting director did a particular excellent job on this one because every single character was cast to perfection, every actor and actress fitting into the role as if it was written for them.
I am fascinated by the way scriptwriter Park Ji Eun has managed to mix genres in one drama, because Queen of Tears is a dark comedy, makjang, comedy, romance and melodrama all in one. This screenwriter is not stranger to making a successful and entertaining kdrama, but if you are looking for something that will dwell into the deeper reasons as to why the leads' marriage crumble, logic and cohesive editing, this story might not be for you.
Queen of Tears strongest point is the way both families come together, learning to respect and love each other but apart from that the drama is developed at a surface level. The scripts lean hard on the other genres which is perfectly fine but there were times when I was frustrated at the desiciones being made, the complete waste of time when the families are running against the clock to save one of their own AND the family's business, etc. This is when I think Queen of Tears is a lot like other Park Si Eun's kdramas: they start strong but run out of material towards the second half of the episode, almost as if she introduce a bunch of plotlines with proper solutions to a few of them.
Overall, I found Queen of Tears to be a really entertaining watch to disconnect from reality.
