IN PRAISE OF B-MOVIE MONSTERMANIA MEETS RETARDO RETRO GARAGE PUNK.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on the "Back From Samoa" debut LP by Los Angeles garage/hardcore punk band ANGRY SAMOANS, released on Bad Trip Records in 1982.
MINI-REVIEW: "The best garage punk album of the year. The SAMOANS have once again produced a brilliant amalgam of 60s punk, 80s punk, and heavy metal. The punchy uptempo sound, buttressed by three guitars and extremely belligerent mid-60s lead vocals is so dense that it’s well-nigh impenetrable, but it’s the SAMOANS’ exceptionally retarded sense of humor that really accounts for their perverse appeal. This brain-damaged approach is vastly better than the commercialized punk and self-conscious Satanic crap which currently dominates the L.A. scene, so don’t miss out."

Meeting the Toa Siblings (Oldest Edition)
Talofa everyone! Here I am just gonna explained about Kanoa and Tiala’s family! Since I haven’t talked about them for a bit and today I shall explained to you about their backgrounds and some facts about them! But I will be showing few because I’m still working on the YOUNGER ones.
So let us start off with the 5 older siblings!
Hōne Toa:
He is the 1st eldest brother of all of his siblings
Was born in October 1st, 1979
He is one of the closest siblings with Tiala ever since she came into this world. He was 18 at that time when she was born.
He signed up to the Marine Corps at the age of 20. So he spent time with his family and mostly his little sister before going out.
He was part of the Marine Corps and had passed away from a mission when he was a Lieutenant Colonels. (Age of 35)
His personality will be like any other older siblings would have. Being wise, hard-working and being kind to his family and other people.
Sami Toa:
He is the 2nd eldest brother of all of his siblings
Was born in April 28th, 1982
He got his father’s serious personality. Always take things in the house or in the military VERY seriously.
He signed up to join the Navy Seals instead of the Marines to honor his grandfather (his mother’s father). At the age of 18.
He met Serah (his wife now) somewhere in American Samoa when he came back from his deployment from one of his missions. At the age of 20.
He started dating Serah at the age of 26 and until he was 28 he proposed to her.
Sami was 32 when he got the news of losing his older brother. He was shocked. (He was a Chief Warrant at that time in the Navy for he had transferred there.)
He also heard news of almost losing his little sister when he was at the age of 35. He argued with his younger brother (Kanoa) and blamed him for losing her during that mission. And never talking to him again. (He was a Lieutenant at that time in the Navy)
And now, Sami is still part of the Navy. He is the Vice Admiral and he’s 42 right now. He is also still trying to communicate well with Kanoa. Even after hearing of his successful missions. Along with Tiala. You can say that deep down…he is proud.
Rangi Toa:
He is the 3rd eldest brother of his siblings
He was born in May 14th, 1986
Rangi’s personality was like in between with Hōne’s wisdom and kindness. And a bit of Kanoa’s funny personality. Small jokes and all.
He was planning on joining the air force but decided to join the Marines. At the age of 18.
Rangi was 28 when he lost his older brother, Hōne. He was with him on that mission and had come back to the base with some blood and bruises and broken aching heart. (He was a Warrant Officer at that time)
Rangi had met his girlfriend when he was taking his time off from the military to be at home for Tiala’s graduation.
He also was scared to death to hear the news from Kanoa that he had lost their sister from that mission. It was a disaster that their sister and the soldiers who were with her were kidnapped. At the age of 31 he was the Second Lieutenant  at that time. And he helped Kanoa to find some clues or answers of where their sister was at. Until 5 months later.
And now, Rangi is a Colonel of the Marine Corps. Assisting the General and his brother and sister’s team as much as he can.
Kanoa Toa:
Kanoa is the 4th eldest of his siblings
He was born in April 1st, 1990
The only kind of siblings who have a joking AND funny personality. Always loves to see his family and friends smiling.
He joined the Marines after his graduation. (18 years old)
Kanoa was 24 and was a Sergeant Major. When he saw Rangi coming back from the mission but not with Hōne.
And when Kanoa was a Warrant Officer at the age of 27. He went on a mission with his sister to stop the leader of the human trafficking. But had lost her when they split up to cover more ground. And he has been tracking to find her for 5 months.
And now, he is the captain of the Marine Corps and is the leader of his own Task Force. Called the “Warriors Task Force”.
Tiala "Shark" Toa:
She is the 5th eldest of her siblings
She was born in November 19th, 1997
Tiala JUST turned 16 years old after hearing about Hōne’s passing. She didn’t celebrate her birthday that much because of it.
And when she was a Senior in high school, she was dating a guy who she had a crush on. And was being humiliated during the Senior Prom that he was just doing a dare and had cheated on her ever since. (She was heartbroken yes but don’t worry. Her little brother came up to the stage and beat the ex-boyfriend down HARD.)
So after her birthday, which she already turned 17, she started to sign up to join the Marine Corps around January. To honor her deceased older brother. Which she had met up with her other two older brothers. Kanoa (who was a Warrant Officer) and Rangi (who was a Second Lieutenant). When she joined the enlisted.
And before Tiala turned 20 years old, which she’s a Sergeant at that time, she volunteered and begged Kanoa to let her join this mission. Which backfired when her and the other soldiers that she was with. Got ambushed and was kidnapped. She has been kidnapped for 5 months as the mission happened around in June.
After being found, Tiala was released and was sent back home to recover. Kanoa took her back home and stayed with her to nurture her back.
After a few months of resting and getting therapy. Even with her family’s love and support. She had finally got the strength to go back to the military.
She was also offered to be in a HIGHER ranks by the General. Named Alana Kalani. For the General had found her so strong that she came back even from that traumatic experience.
But Tiala had taken the position as First Sergeant instead. Since she doesn't want to rush herself that she just got back. And being the Second in Command of the Warriors Task Force. (Which Kanoa had asked her to join and she accepted it)
There you have it folks! The Older Toa Siblings! I shall work on the younger ones later on! For I don't want you guys to be reading TOO much information. Which it'll get boring. Lol.
So thank you for reading this far! I shall edit this to add the link to the younger siblings later on! Thank you! And love ya, peles!

The first missionaries of YWAM Taiwan need you
Tumblr media
In 1982, the first batch of the international YWAM team came to Taiwan from Honolulu, Hawaii for a short-term mission trip. This group of young missionaries saw the needs of the Taiwanese people and responded to God's call. Thereafter, they returned to Taiwan the following year and formally established the “Youth With A Mission Taiwan''.
Samoa’s incidental meetup with a missionary who had been to Taiwan
In June 2023, I was sent to serve in Samoa along with other members after discipleship training in Kona, Hawaii. The base leaders Fono and Sose were among the first missionaries that founded YWAM Taiwan. They were led back by God to serve in Samoa, and also brought me, a member from Tamkang Church in Taiwan, to Samoa to be connected with them.
In April this year, Sose was diagnosed with cancer by a doctor's examination and Fono was in Brazil then. After hearing the news, Fono changed his itinerary and came back early to be with Sose. After long prayers and seeking relevant advice, they finally decided to fly to the United States at the end of May for Sose to undergo up to 18 rounds of chemotherapy.
Brothers and sisters in Taiwan, please pray for the following:
1.For Sose's disease to be cured 2.God to place a suitable doctor to treat Sose 3.Receive support for all medical expenses for Sose 4.For the insurance company to pay all the medical expenses of Sose 5.For wisdom and accurate judgment to be added to the doctor who takes care of Sose
Please pray for Sose, and you can also donate online to help this missionary who once gave himself for Taiwan >> https://reurl.cc/4o6k43

Philippine–American War (1899–1902) USA v. Philippines because we won you from Spain in the last war; screw you if you’re a native on the island.
Moro Rebellion (1899–1913) USA v. Philippines because while we’re here, we’ll meddle in your politics too.
Boxer Rebellion (1899–1901) USA v. China because they wanted those douchebag imperialists, foreigners and goddamn Christians to simply fuck the hell off back to where they came from because they suck.
Crazy Snake Rebellion (1909) USA v. OK Native Americans because Americans just LOVE betraying treaties and killing the native population.
Border War (1910–1919) USA v. Mexico & Germany because it’s more fun to play with guns and kill one another rather than sit at a table with a map and come to an amicable agreement.

Last Indian Uprising (1923) USA v. Native Americans in Utah because wed rather have Mormons than the Ute and the Paiute tribes.
World War II (1939–1945)
USA fights Japan covertly in the Pacific, aiding China against Japanese aggression. USA assists Britain and occupied Europe against the FASCIST regimes of Hitler’s Nazis and Mussolini in Italy and fucks off until the Attack of Pearl Harbor in 1941. “Oh, THIS shit again?” asks Europe. “Showing up late YET AGAIN, but sure; hey, USA, take all the credit yet again. Seriously, fuck you guys. Thanks for the assist, but we could have saved millions of lives of you’d gotten of your fat asses YEARS ago!”
Korean War (1950–1953) USA v. N. Korea in a proxy war with the USSR and China because fuck those commies, right? We won, even though they kicked our asses and a formal treaty was NEVER signed so technically the war is actually STILL ON.
Laotian Civil War (1953–1975) USA v. Laos and those commie scumbags. Yep. We don’t talk about this one because we LOST.
Lebanon Crisis (1958) USA v. Lebanon, Beirut, because we like Christians and fuck those Muslim twats, right? (God, we’re not a good people in the US...)
Bay of Pigs Invasion (1961) USA & Cuban Revolutionaries v. Cuban Government because fuck the commies. Maybe if we help, we’ll own Cuba again... Oops. Nope. Totally fucked that up.
Simba rebellion, Operation Dragon Rouge (1964) USA and EU Allies v. S.E. Asia in amounted to a total clusterfuck that dissolved Vietnam and was a precursor there as well as other areas. It helped the rise of dictators all throughout the region. Khmer Rouge anyone?
Vietnam War (1955–1975) USA, S. Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand etc. v. China-backed, USSR backed N. Vietnam. The Imperialist WEST v. the Communist EAST. That ended in a shit-show for the West like all proxy wars in southeast Asia do.

Korean DMZ Conflict (1966–1969) USA v. N. Korea because they attempted to convince the S. Koreans to rise up and join the North, throwing out the WEST. No dice for them.

Action in the Gulf of Sidra (1986) USA v. Libya because fuck you, Qaddafi, and that bullshit line in the water. We’re sending a carrier group in to show YOU where the REAL line is.
Bombing of Libya (1986) USA v. Libya because they keep bombing shit around Europe and they make us keep coming back. France still likes Libya and wouldn’t let US fighters through their airspace as they left German air bases. US pilots were a bit fatigued having to go around the long way and ‘accidentally’ bombed the French Embassy in Libya...
Tanker War (1987–1988) USA v. Iran because fuck them, that’s why. Iran & Iraq were duking it out and Iran thought shooting at US and allied shipping would be good fun. USS Vincennes then shot down Iran Air Flight 655, killing 290 passengers; 66 of which were children. Yeah, we totally fucked that up hard-core.
Tobruk encounter (1989) USA v. Libya. Again. That line. US F-14′s splash their MIGs. Now, stay. Good Libya.

Bosnian War (1992–1995) USA v. Bosnian, post USSR dictators because the US/NATO won’t act until AFTER the genocides...
Intervention in Haiti (1994–1995) USA v. Haiti, because damn it, we’ll restore your democratically elected government and put down that coup... for a price...
Kosovo War (1998–1999) USA and a fuck ton of allies v. Russia-backed Yugoslavia because human rights violations are for US southern CSA states only, fuckers. We sort of won this ‘contest’.
Operation Infinite Reach (1998) USA v. Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, because fuck those ‘towelheads’ we helped push out the Russians! How dare they turn on us imperialists when we treat them like peasants and shit on them? What nerve! How will Big Pharma keep up their poppy fields now? This means war...
THE 21st CENTURY
War in Afghanistan (2001–present)

Yemeni Civil War (2015–present)
American intervention in Libya (2015–present) USA v/ ISIS/ISIL in Libya. It’s as if the war in Iraq pissed off a ton of people in the region along with Israel’s expansion into Palestine territory over the years... Go figure.
THE TRUMP YEARS
Despite fucking over our allies in Syria and being far too cozy with Putin and Kim Jong Un and other dictators, sympathizing with Nazis in the US and having the KKK in his blood, trumplefuckstick hasn’t actually pushed any “NEW” wars upon the US so far. Sure, we’re in a state of chaos and about to collapse into a failed nation-state into that “shithole country everyone thinks can’t happen here.
The point is:
“HEY JOE FUCKIN’ BIDEN! I DON’T MEAN TO THROW YOU OFF YOUR GAME HERE BUT WHILE I DO NOT CONDONE VIOLENCE, IT SEEMS THAT AS AMERICANS, IT’S THE ONLY WAY WE DO THINGS HERE TO GET SHIT DONE!”
Tumblr media
Still don’t believe me? How about some non-war stuff...
How about EVERY act of white supremacist, KKK driven TERROR on non-whites since the Civil War ended or of the slave owners before them?
How about how our first real “police” in the US were bounty hunters looking for runaway slaves?
How about the Tulsa race massacre when white mobs attacked the black residents and business of the Greenwood District in Tulsa because the good people of Oklahoma didn’t want them “uppity niggers” to be doing as well or better than the white racist fucks were doing. That learned ‘em, didn’t it?
Let’s not forget the anti-union suppression! How about the  Herrin Massacre? During a United Mineworkers of America nationwide strike union miners shot at strikebreakers working at the mine. The mine's guards killed three union miners on June 21, and the miners killed 20 strikebreakers and guards on June 22.
What about the Hanapepe Massacre? During a strike of Filipino sugar workers, in an attempt to rescue two hostage strikebreakers police killed 16 strikers, while strikers killed four law enforcement members.
Kent State shootings: During a protest of the bombing of Cambodia at the University, members of the Ohio National Guard opened fire, killing four and injuring nine people.
Jackson State University shooting: After responding to the University due to a growing unrest, officers opened fire on a dorm building and two students (one from a local high school) were killed and twelve were injured.
There are more, to be sure, but Mr. Biden, you ARE correct in one particular field here- gun violence. Look at this list HERE. So many acts of mass shootings going WAY back before Columbine. What’s been done about this by you, the Democrats or Republicans of the piece-of-shit NRA? Fuck-all NOTHING.
Your truth, Mr. Biden- in this instance, gun violence literally achieves NOTHING.

Task 2: Reflect
Smith defines mana as influencing ways of being, promoting qualities such as integrity, dignity and respect. Which can only accumulate through capacities and achievements acknowledged by others. Aspects of language revitalisation include oratory competitions; kapa Haka (cultural performances); and development of Maori language music, theatre, film, radio, and television to continue restoration of mana as a living language.
In the 1840’s Maori’s as well as their culture and society was dominated from the influence of new settlers culture and language. Usage of Maori language fell throughout the twentieth century and even more so from the 1940’s. By the 1970’s the language was at a rapid decline with only 18,00 speakers fluent today. There was an establishment of Ohanga reo in 1982 which is key to revitalising the language of Maori’s. The passing of Maori language act was passed in 1987 making it an official language of New Zealand.
Paragraphs reflecting on Te Reo Maori in Aotearoa today...
What does it mean to uphold the mana of Te Reo Maori?
The mana of the language is indigenous to this country as the Maori being the first people of Aotearoa. Upholding mana gives Maori children had the right to learn the language of their ancestors. Expressions of mana may be described as the fundamentals of authority and leadership from Maori. This supports them to achieve their goals of improvement , cultural assertion and acknowledgment  of indigenous human rights. “Mana originates from not only our human heritage but the heritage of the entire natural world” (Smith, 95) This gives evidence to mana in forest, weather, oceans and human relationships. Mana can be restored as all things exist in relation to each other which can bring back balance when something is ‘at loss of mana’.
Where do you see or hear Te reo Maori in your own life?
I personally see Maori incorporated in schooling systems from the names of student houses to assignment tasks. The national anthem begins in Maori language, motifs of Maori are located in street signs to public buildings. Maori being included in public speeches. There’s a television channel dedicated to Maori, their culture and language for all ages. Carvings within maraes telling the stories and narratives of Maori in the architecture.
How might Maori be incorporated in more widely in media, art, and design of nz?
Maori can be incorporated more widely through media, art and design by having more Maori content on at peak viewing times and also making it accessible to those with limited language skills giving them the opportunity to learn and understand easier which could include well known phrases and words. Using Maori native materials such as wood, stone, bone and flax giving a visual form and shape to cultural belief systems and expressed spiritual ideas.
