i've been working on it for few months now and it's been quite fun. i love writing and researching, so it's really my jam, lol!! i'm not sure if many ppl will see this post, esp since there's a link in it but we shall see!! ^^

So here's my thesis. More specifically the trailer that played in one of the rooms in the art gallery kind of building in our city (dunno what to call it in English) where we were defending our thesis, as well as most of the slides in the slideshow I used during my Big Talk.

My project was a website about monsters from Slavic mythology - based on books about the subject ("Bestiariusz Słowiański, część pierwsza i druga" by Paweł Zych and Witold Vargas, and "Księga Smoków Polskich" by Bartłomiej Grzegorz Sala, Paweł Zych and Witold Vargas) - with an interactive map, an index with three ways of categorizing the monsters (name, habitat, or region), a quiz game, a customizable profile, and most importantly articles about the monsters. The general aesthetics of the website were inspired by medieval manuscripts. There's a lot I would change about it now, a lot I wanted to do then but didn't have time for or simply couldn't do with the somewhat limited options. Figma is a cool program but doing a web design thesis with the free version of it clearly showed me its limitations.

I have to start writing my bachelor's thesis. First chapter at least. Even though the topic is interesting, this is just... tragedy. I haven't written a single word yet because of the thinking that it would be trash and not about the topic/plagiarism.

Day 25 Bachelor's Thesis

I've been away from Tumblr for a few days since I took a small vacation. But everything will be back to normal again tomorrow. Be prepared for some interesting snippets from academic papers about fanfiction on the weekend.

Some of them are a bit weird out of context. And some of them are even weird if you have the context. Which does not make them any less interesting. More about this in a few days.

Otherwise, I'm glad, AO3 seems to be up again. Funfact about that one: The comment "Prove you are not Lore" you got to see (if you actually were able to load the archive without getting a server error) refers to a Star Trek Next Generation character. There is an evil Android called "Lore". So it just was a neat nerdy way to reword the usual "Prove that you are not a robot" message.

I've been totally stuck with the theory part of my bachelor's thesis, but today it finally got going (and I just wrote it for 2 hours with no pauses). The only problem is that I actually should be studying for a psychology exam atm and not doing this but whatever, I'm happy

2/27 update

semester started last Thursday and i already hate every second of it

i'll try to be on top of my assignments since i don't have many classes

i lost track of progress on my bachelor's thesis and i'm planning on getting back to it tomorrow

i start a new internship next Monday (thank the lord)

Still mad that I have to write a goddamm BA thesis to get my degree, while people in normal countries...don't. They just have to attend classes and that's it. I have to write 40 pages of dedicated research, well-formatted and documented and we both will have the exact same degree.

Day 12 - Any Merlin Fanfic Authors here?

Just finished transcribing the first interview. (A few more to go.) And I really wish I had more participants. There are a few interesting tendencies within the answers. But my data base ist just not big enough to actually draw any conclusions.

So, anyone here interested in an ~30-45min interview about writing Merlin Fanfics? (Can be done in a written form as well. Just dm me and we'll talk about the options/details.)

I just had a talk with my thesis supervisor and I want to check something real quick.

I want to write my bachelor's thesis about fanficion and AI - specifically about fanfiction writers' attitude towards the use of generative AI in fandom spaces

The survey (and the rest of the thesis) is still v much in the making, I just want to check how many potential responders I could reach from this account

What I can say about the survey for now:

1. The survey will be anonymous!

2. The survey will be in English (but the rest of my thesis will not. I am however required to write an abstract in English)

3. My supervisor said it's fine if I want to focus on one fandom - In this case it will be the HP fandom. However I would like to include as many reposnes as I can, so it will probably not be a requirement to be in the HP fandom.

4. You don't need to write fanfiction to take part in the survey (but there will be a question if you read and/or write fanfics). You need to be in the fandom though

5. You need to be over 18 (most likely)

I want to keep myself anonymous as well so there is a possibility I will have to make a separate sideblog/account for it.

If anyone will be interested in the results, for some reason - I am required to write the abstract in English, so I might share the abstract. Maybe. More info after I write anything for my thesis.

With a lot of care and time this can even be done without having them behave out of character.
