Do not listen to Wood Elves
“The first truth: Know that Baan Dar is not about the chickens.”
“Ak'an does not know why so many speak of the chickens. Yes, the Wood Elves make them explode, and they call this foolishness a celebration. Wood Elves also say it is wrong to eat apples, yet apples are delicious, yes? Wood Elves make mead out of rotting meat and bugs. Do not listen to Wood Elves.”
meanwhile, Bosmer:

this is So Good omg ok
So about Daro'Zaste / Quartz Eye of the King, who's the most recent creation and the most fleshed out one! :)) Zaste's my Skyrim character.
1: 'Te (or Tay) is a mage! His specialty is Destruction magic, but his goal is to become knowledgeable at *all* the different sections of the arcane arts. Not one for Restoration though. As he got older, he started preferring Illusion & Conjuration magic.
2: LOVES putting on a show. His excitement gets the best of him and he loses himself in a weird ecstatic frenzy. Usually is all over the place when casting spells; running around whatever place he's in and switching between various spells.
3: Zaste follows a traditional Khajiiti mindset of "each god has something different to offer, so worship them when it suits you." Being a traditionally raised Khajiit though, he does favor Azurah and Baan Daar (or Rajhin he doesn't really care), and doesn't fully follow any of the Imperial/Eight or Nine divines. Later on in life however, he takes a liking to Hermorah (Hermaeus Mora) due to his deep dive into various scriptures and general collections.
4: Unsure!!
5: (plz cut me some slack i've only played Skyrim and ESO) Dark Brotherhood & The Thieves Guild, not the Fighters Guild or The Mages Guild. He would (and does) however join the College of Winterhold & Dawnguard.
6: Grew up poor on his family's farm on Solstheim. Didn't really have a class for a while because he parted from society for years when he fled Helgen and dove into Blackreach. After returning to the surface though, he had enough old jewelry and small treasures to really get him onto his feet again. Gaining more money wasn't difficult due to his skills in combat and survival, so by the time he becomes Quartz Eye of the King and on, he gets pretty insanely rich. (At least i hope so let's see how the playthrough turns out T-T)
7: Yes (very gay and very violent)
8: Zaste will just keep on going and keep on fighting even if it tears him apart. The flight instinct is non existent in this man and if there's even a minuscule chance that he could get out alive, he absolutely will fight until he dies and will do borderline anything to ensure that he kills his enemy. This dude does not stop with literally anything. Older 'Te though really calms down, although he still teaches others to do what he does, so it never leaves him.
9: He's missing an eye. Was just born like that and his family was loving and protective of him. He's probably got a slew of mental things too, plus 'Tay never learned how to properly patch up wounds so he's got some bad ones that healed weirdly so he has difficulty with his hands occasionally. Has had a real bad tremor from repeated nerve damage since his Reaver days back on Solstheim.
10: I mean he is the player so i guess there are just numerous behaviors and details that have influenced him while playing Skyrim. Other things include love of books and libraries, wanting to collect and organize literally everything into perfect little sections and displays. Another big thing is sexuality but most of my player characters are usually gay (m4m) or bi with a larger preference for men.
11: Yes! He's a Khajiit that abides by traditional honorifics. So the evolution goes from Zaste-Ma (childhood) -> Ja'Zaste (Reaver to Helgen) -> Daro'Zaste* (Blackreach to a little bit before Alduin's defeat) -> Quartz Eye of the King
*Daro is the female honorific, to be so honest i forgot this and refuse to change it because it sounds good but for story things Tay just likes the way it sounds as opposed to Dar. Also weird grimy guys with female names are very cool and i enjoy them greatly
12: It lines up with a lot of the Nords opinions around Skyrim; this being that he supports the defeat of the Thalmor (which for a lot of Khajiit isn't good) and was originally going to join the Stormcloaks, but then he learned about the racism and fascism and senseless murder that Ulfric promoted and quickly turned to the Imperials. (Went w/ hadvar when escaping Helgen so that helped him be more comfortable and knowledgeable abt the Imperials.)
13: Zaste enjoys cooking! He picked up a lot of fun recipes in Blackreach* (Stuffed gleamblossoms, deep vale venison shank, deep vale spriggan smoked slayerfish, a lot of mushroom based recipes, chaurus recipes, and many more. he's probably eaten Falmer meat before). He also enjoys cultivating different plants for food and alchemy, so basically gardening. Again, one of the biggest things that he loves to do is once again collecting. Just. Anything really. Mostly sets of things like armor or jewelry, and he also enjoys making jewelry as well with the gems he finds while exploring Skyrim. As he gets a little bit older he takes to playing a lot of music and dancing in his spare time (dude loves a good party, he threw a lot once he became rich and had a big house) searching for unique decorated instruments to play and add to his collection of things.
*The mods that i use for Blackreach are DMT's Paint it Blackreach, The Blackest Reaches, and Blackreach Railroad. This adds things that might not be canon for other people, but incorporating mods into my characters stories are always fun. There are also many other mods in general that I use that add other things to the game. Zaste is far from a base game character.
14: Not anything specific (not yet anyway, i'm still fairly early in his development), though Blackreach flora is suiting for him. Things that might stick out to others to let them know that it's associated with 'Te are a mostly black object or background with glowing blue+pink marks on them.
15: Guy finds cool magic and goes crazy ig. There is probably more tropes that fit him but im not sure atm.
16: Tamrielic (Common? Cyrodyllic? English?), Ta'agra, a little bit of Dunmeris. As he gets older though and starts studying scriptures he learns Draconic (Dragon Tongue), Ancient Nordic (which might be the same as Draconic), and Dwemeris (Dwarven).
17: Zaste prefers dual wielding & the crossbow when he doesn't use magic, as he couldn't fully rely on magic during his Reaver days, and doesn't prefer staves. Usually the way to decide on whether he uses his swords or his magic is whether or not he wants to cause a huge mess or not. Tay likes lightning magic as well as his shouts, so he mostly uses it outside or in large ruins & caves. He found a Dwemer crossbow during his time in Blackreach, and has kept it ever since. His two swords are an enchanted Akaviri blade that he found in the Snow Elf refuge in Blackreach near i think Mzulft, and a scimitar that he picked up from Lucan Valerius while returning to Riverwood after exiting Blackreach. His fighting style is quick and in your face to be as disorienting as possible to the enemy.
18: I'm going to go with either chaotic good but to a pretty big extreme and emphasis on "chaotic". At his very core, he wants to help people. Deeply. He *will* do anything to help those in need, which is why he joined the Reavers in the first place: to help his family. The income he got from being a bandit was far more than selling goods at his family's stall at the Solstheim market plaza, and he gave nearly all of his gold to his family or purchased equipment himself to give to them. Anyone who asks him for support will get an enthusiastic response back. For the "chaotic" part, he does like his septims and doesn't mind taking lives to get it. He joined the Thieves Guild for the money, and joined the Dark Brotherhood to satisfy that feeling of bloodlust and un-questioned intoxicating power that he felt during his prime time in Blackreach. He misses that feeling very deeply.
19: Tay's just kind of a weird dude, but charming in a way. He looks pretty off-putting, but he's really a sweet Khajiit. A hidden talent of his is that he both dances and plays music super well :) he's always been like that, and was super excited to join the Bard's College when he went to Solitude.
20: Plants that he picked on the road, maybe a cool looking bone or stick something, soul gems, mead, some cool rings or necklaces that he found, and some pieces of paper with little notes scribbled on them.
21: With most situations between people he tries to be diplomatic and understand both sides, ex. his opinion on the Stormcloaks. 'Te's selfless, and mostly abides the law when he's actually in cities. He understands that most citizens are just people trying to get by, and so he sorta robin hoods it to only steal from those who can afford it. He doesn't really have anxiety, or if he does he does really well to calm himself down quite quickly. Lastly, Zaste is kind of a mix of both.
22: I am so deeply uneducated on other NPCs :(
23: Speed and Agility! He's a Dagi-Raht, and a pretty tall one at that + his dragonblood, making him the mighty height of 4'11" (~149 cm) while on flat feet. He's a digitigrade quadruped, so that bumps him up to around 5'3" (~160 cm). His boots are pretty thin on the bottom so they don't do much, maybe add a half inch or so. But anyway, his small size and fast nature are the things he relies on the most in many situations.
24: Zaste never thinks he's good enough. He's a perfectionist, and the thing that he puts that on the hardest is himself. It leads to him getting into situations that are incredibly threatening even to him because he feels that he needs to "prove" himself.

Baan Dar asks only three things of all who follow him.
Do not let others take it if you wish to keep it. Do not let others chain you if you wish to live without chains. Do not let others fool you if you wish not to be fooled.
Baan Dar does not ask you to praise his name. Baan Dar does not ask you to offer him tribute. Baan Dar asks only that you not be stupid, for the warm sands of Elsweyr have no place for stupid Khajiit.

on a technicality, a few of them. j'ensin, like a good number of khajiit even well into the 4th era, worship the pre-Riddle'thar spirits, practices the Old Ways, and dutifully walks The Path. Her gods are not the ancestral ghosts of the elves, nor the daedra of the nedes, but the Two Litters of Fadomai.
He primary patron is Boethra, the revolutionary goddess who gave her near-corpse a kick in the pants and the destiny of freeing the khajiit in Skyrim from the tyranny of the Stormcloaks, and Tamriel from the Dominion for the benefit of the khajiit - even after being crowned Empress and becoming the government, Ensin remains respectful and benevolent, knowing that her patron could easily send someone to depose her in turn.
When she first approached the northern shrine, the gathered Boethians expected their prince, but instead, some weird fucking cat manifested, without even asking for a sacrifice. They figured it was a test, and started slaughtering each other, to the khajiits' concern. Boethra sent J'Ensin to incite a rebellion against the Jarl of Vernim Woods, but such is only a temporary solution, and systemic change requires a systemic revolution - the dethroning of the entire Stormcloak ideology.
Boethra's wife Mafala appeared to J'Ensin before she could interact with Mephala and the door under Dragon's Reach, and had her discover Balgruuf's dirty secret for his own benefit, making him confront it, reconciling and rekindling his relationship with his children. They tried to destroy the door, but any room behind had vanished.
When she joined the Nightingales, it was not Nocturnal who first appeared to the three, but Noctra. While the toolkeeper deigned for Ensin to keep the Skeleton Key, J'Ensin refused for the sake of her colleagues who would need the persnickety Nocturnal's approval. She got the lockpicking indicator mod as a consolation prize.
Sheogorath, the Skooma Cat, is her great-great-great-grandmother, but she'd never know he was her. He appeared to her in Pelagius's mind as a bent, cat-shaped human with a scottish man's head, like some kind of GMod abomination. Holding the Wabbajack, for some reason, fills J'Ensin with nostalgia and a warm comfort.
She trusts for Hircine's guidance when she poaches or hunts, and Hircine once told her to hunt the most dangerous game, so she did, with Sinding's help.
She praises Azurah, as everyone does, and ended up recruiting Aranea after the former's role was completed (she and Erandur get along well) and J'ensin recovered her Star for her.
She almost ended up bound to Hermaeus Mora / Hermora as his champion after the Oghma Infinium mishap, but shot him in the eye with a pre-hidden Auriel's Bow before he could impale poor Storn, doing incredible damage to the daedra, looted Apocrypha as any good khajiit would do, and ended up subverting and redeeming his previous champion. They are not on good terms, to put it lightly.
Clavicus Vile isn't anything to the khajiit, but she knows him as a Cyrod god, and she knows he is tricky. She ran into Barbas, and because he was cute (for a dog), she helped him out, and he helped her out in navigating Clavicus' deal. She still doesn't know if this makes her his Champion or not, because it's just not a concept in khajiiti culture.
She worships other spirits too, such as invoking S'renndar or Baan Dar for protection and invoking Rahjin for luck, and she got on her feet in Riften with the help of the Temple of Mara, so she donates whenever she is in town. She still has nightmares about Ius, thanks to her uncles' stories, and begs for forgiveness whenever her arrows fail to kill an animal quickly. But they aren't daedra, so.

A Bosmeri Prayer “Baan Dar, Lord of Slyness, Shadow Master. Among all the gods of my homeland, you have always been my patron and my guardian. I know you’ve blessed me so many times, granting me a rescue when I had lost all hope. You helped me slip away from Helgen ... And I am sure, Baan Dar, that it was you who’d sent a snarky Thalmor my way to help me out, assist me and stay by my side. Of all the people of Tamriel, you chose a Thalmor. That must have been your doing, the humor of a trickster god.
I call upon you today as I did so often before; but this time, it isn’t about me. It’s about him. Please let my prayers be heard one more time, Baan Dar. If it was you who sent Ancano to me, don’t let him be taken from me.
I’m not one who stands aside idly. I’d rather be out there and search for him on my own. But I have errands to run for Elenwen, and she’ll take any delay as proof of my betrayal, making Ancano pay for it. I have to play along for now and rely on my friends. I found help at the College, Baan Dar. The Khajit know your name, too, so maybe you had your share in J’zargo offering me help. His promise made others step in, and by now, word should be spreading among the Khajit of Skyrim, and hopefully, they will bring some news soon.
Please let them find Ancano. Help me come up with a plan to free him. Once we know where he’s being held, every step I take towards that place will endanger him further. Show me a way, Baan Dar. Let me save the man I love.” next previous first

Part 1 of Abandoned Winds
Summary: A story of a mother who makes a deal with Varmiina to save her children from Namiira’s grasp.
Word count: 3,370
TW: Violence, light gore
Pa’trask Saldawi is not a good person. She is a liar, a murderer, a thief, and a cultist. She is a cunning tongue, blessed by Baan Dar, a priestess tempted by the Void and Sithis’s calling, a wandering soul that steals the most dangerous artifacts not even a Psijic would seek, and a woman who has overcome the need for nightmares and now only holds the dreams that Varmiina plagues her with.
Pa’trask was taught as a child that Khenarthi had blessed the Saldawi with a sacred task of protecting the Moons and the waters, and that in return they would be carried straight to Llswe’er and never have to worry about Azurah’s judgement. She was taught the ways of healing magic using the power of the moon-blessed waters, an ability that caused the ancient Khajiit tribes to work for an alliance with the family, long before the existence of the Mane. These abilities and blessings were to help her through the trials of life, and should she succeed, she would receive everlasting safety in the warm sands of the beyond.
But with trials comes waning faith, and one too many trials can leave one devoid of hope. Pa’trask now believes Khenarthi abandoned her, that the winds died down and with it, her faith. Her brother-in-law had been captivated by Namiira and the beating of Lorkhaj’s heart and killed her niece, leaving her sister a lifeless husk of despair, and with her children being born on the day of a Dark Eclipse, they were left unshielded from the same corruption that her brother-in-law had become victim to.
And that was the vulnerability that led to the curse of her children, who were destined to become tools of Namiira and never see the golden sands of Llswe’er.
Her family taught her that Khenarthi was her protecter so why was her life filled with misfortune? If Khenarthi cared for her, why was temptation so grand that she could not refuse? Why did Varmiina visit her while she slept and played the song of her children’s screams, visions of them dancing in the Scuttling Void to the song of the Dark Heart? And worst of all, why did Varmiina whisper in her ear, offering the safety of her children in return for her husband’s life?
So, she listened. Her husband was a powerful man. He was the leader of a family just as ancient as her own, and a military general at that. His death would mean the fall of the ancient family, a family known as the Hanoshi. There were multiple factors to murdering her husband, many of them she could not figure out herself. He was a strong man, a man that would not be taken down with one stab... she needed a poison. A strong poison, a poison that only an assassin would have, an assassin that could destroy him with one... the Dark Brotherhood. She needed the Brotherhood.
The Dark Brotherhood had many reasons to go after the Hanoshi. They wanted the secrets of the Hanoshi Warriors, the now long-forgotten warriors of Elsweyr who used invisibility and flanking to dominate the battlefield from behind the scenes. The Brotherhood had been trying to create an alliance with the Hanoshi since the beginning of their time, and the Hanoshi have refused since the first request. If she could somehow find the hidden oasis where the Hanoshi trained, the Brotherhood would be more than willing to help her!
And so, that night when she closed her eyes and floated with Khenarthi’s clouds to her dreams, she waited for the clouds to turn dark. When they did, a snake with the markings of a skull slithered down from the blackness of the Heavens. Pa’trask told the figure about her plan and the snake let out a hiss of laughter. As soon as it had arrived, the snake began to fade away, leaving a dense fog to surround the cold sands of the dream. A figure slowly crept out of the fog, a Breton woman with the armor of the Brotherhood.
“So, you are the one the Dreamweaver called me to speak with. What is your name, cat?” The woman adjusted her posture, crossing her arms and leaning heavily against a tree that had not been there a second before. The tree growing was a sign of dominance, an obvious gesture to who had more control in this situation. Only a skilled Dreamstrider could alter the dreams of others
“...This one is...” Pa’trask looked around, spotting the nearby jetty just barely visible through the fog. “J’etti. Her name is J’etti. Who are you?”
The woman smirked. “My name is unimportant. All you need to know is that I am a sister of those you seek, and I am willing to make a deal with you... depending on what you have offer.”
Pa’trask swallowed and took a deep breath. “This one has information regarding the Hanoshi. She is willing to give it to you as a trade for the strongest poison you can make.”
The woman laughed. “That seems like a very one-sided trade... but who am I to complain when it is my side that receives more? I am debating asking why you need the poison, but I fear that would make the deal even more one-sided... Just how strong are you hoping for?”
“The strongest you can make. It needs to be strong enough to kill a man with one stab to the heart.”
The woman frowned and raised an eyebrow. “I admire your ambition, but it could take weeks for me to acquire the ingredients needed to make that poison.”
Pa’trask smiled. “That is fine with her... J’etti has a few things she must do before the deal can come to fruition.”
“Very well... But before I agree to this deal, I need information. What exactly are you offering?”
Pa’trask sighed and thought about what she was about to do. But the sounds of her children’s screams echoed in her mind, like a twisted music box, clouding her better judgement. “This one... has a proposition.”
The woman smiled and tilted her head. “Do tell.”
“The Brotherhood seeks the knowledge of the Hanoshi warriors, yes?”
The woman nodded, her smile fading into a look of interest.
“It is clear that Hanoshi will not make a deal with the Dark Brotherhood... so J’etti suggests taking the secret by force.”
“You have officially piqued my interest, cat. Explain.” She waved her hand, motioning to Pa’trask (J’etti) to continue.
“J’etti is... has ties with the Hanoshi. She is good friends with Hwanmoon Hanoshi, the leader of the Hanoshi warriors. Hwanmoon is a cynical man, but he trusts J’etti. So... if J’etti were to ask Hwanmoon to show her the hidden oasis... he might just oblige.
“Hah! It appears not all you Khajiit are moon sugar addicts. Some of you have a good head upon those fuzzy shoulders. I will tell you what, J’etti. You find the oasis, and not only will you be given the poison, but you will also receive the largest sum of gold you could ever lay your eyes on.”
Pa’trask forced a smile. The idea of gold was exciting, but she could not shake the feeling of guilt and pure despair that crept up her spine.
The woman continued; “There is a way to make this easier, but I need to confirm something... you are going to use the poison to kill Hwanmoon Hanoshi, yes?”
Hearing the words said aloud made Pa’trask physically repulsed, a shaky breath escaping her lips as she nodded.
The woman quietly noted Pa’trask’s reaction but kept her face stagnant. “Just as I thought... well then, you should use this dagger.” She reached in the air and a dagger dropped from the clouds. It was ornate, the handle being a metal snake coiled what looked like bone. At the bottom of the handle, a bright red jewel reflected Pa’trask’s eyes. The blade was serrated and had a purple glow that shined dimly, barely visible. The woman offered Pa’trask the dagger.
“What is so special about this dagger?” Pa’trask asked as she took it, feeling the cold metal against the palm of her hand.
“It will create a mark on the ground that will allow me to get there through my dreams. Once I arrive, I will create a portal for my brothers and sisters to follow. Now then... I will take my leave so that I can prepare the poison.”
“Very well... How will you give me the poison?” Pa’trask clutched the dagger behind her back, hiding her shaking hands.
“Once I have it created, I will leave it at a cave just north of Daggerfall. I do not know if I am pronouncing this right but... Fede hirsinith, J’etti.” The woman winked.
“Wait-” Pa’trask was going to ask the woman’s name again, but before she could get the words out, the woman had disappeared.
When she opened her eyes, Pa’trask began to weep. She questioned everything. If the lives of her children were worth more than her lover, if Khenarthi had truly abandoned her, and if she was doing the right thing... All these questions flooded her mind at once. But the answer to all of them was a simple yes.
A week later, Pa’trask went to the cave that the woman, who she discovered was named Niamh, had told her about. To her surprise, the poison was sitting at the far end of the cave with a letter underneath it.
Tirdas, 14th of Sun’s Dusk, 2e 566.
-Niamh
In two days, Hwanmoon Hanoshi would be dead by her hand.
The two days before the event, Pa’trask could not bring herself to even speak to her husband. She quietly took care of her kids, occasionally speaking to It’gara and his daughters, Korerri and Talarri. The days passed quickly.
On the day of the invasion, Pa’trask sat and looked out the dirtied window of their grand mansion. She had never liked the mansion. She had always thought it was too big and there was not enough water around. But she stayed since it was the home of her beloved, and her cubs did not seem to mind having space to run around and play.
As she stared out the window, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“Pata... you have been very distant. Is something bothering you, ari?”
Pa’trask stayed silent for a moment, gathering the strength to speak, and reminding herself that this was for her children. “Hwanmoon... This one has never seen the oasis. Might we visit today?”
With not a word, Hwanmoon takes his wife’s hand and smiles as he leads her out the door. “He will show you. Just follow me... and do not panic when the rocks fall.”
Pa’trask raises an eyebrow and obliges, following behind the man she loves with all her heart and hiding her sorrow with giddy laughter. He leads her through the town of Riverhold, briefly slowing down to smile and nod to neighbors and friends. They walk for a while before they reach a sandy cliffside.
Solid rock towers above the two of them for a moment before Hwanmoon drops Pa’trask’s hand and unsheathes his sword, stabbing it into the rock. With a thunderous gasp, the rocks tumble off the side of the cliff.
Pa’trask gasps as the rocks fall, backing away from the cliffside with confusion as Hwanmoon does not do the same. Hwanmoon lets out a hearty laugh and the rocks disappear before they can hit the ground.
“I told you not to panic when the rocks fell.”
Pa’trask looks at the tall door that was once hidden behind the rocks and forces a smile. She is one step closer to saving her children. “Sorry... it just startled me... Is-” She begins to speak but was interrupted by the metal doors scraping on the rock.
As the door opens, Pa’trask is shocked to see a bustling town. People of all races walk around holding baskets of fruit, flowers grow from the pillars that support the doorways, and chatter echoes through the town.
Beyond the main road, Pa’trask sees a blue portal that civilians are walking in and out of. “...What is this place?” She looks to her target and the moment their eyes meet, she remembers her task and frowns.
“It is the oasis. Not only do the Hanoshi warriors train here, but it is also a trading post for those who seek magical items... Why do you frown, my love?”
“I-it is just... very loud. Is there a quiet place that we could... observe?” She gulps, hoping he does not suspect her.
He shows a naïve smile and nods. “Follow me.” He sheathes his sword and grabs her hand once more, running through the streets and smiling. Pa’trask follows closely behind, forcing a smile as well. As they climb stone stairs and leave the bustling town behind, she can hear her heart beating in her ears, reminding her of the song that her children will dance to if she fails.
Badum. Badum. Badum.
She is so focused on her heartbeat that she does not realize they have stopped running.
“Pata, look.”
Badum. Badum. Badum.
Pa’trask looks up from the stone beneath her feet and looks at her husband... no, her target. He is looking out at the town. She looks in the same direction he is and inhales as she realizes they are above everything, and the civilians look like ants. As they look out over the oasis, a sense of dread fills Pa’trask. She has obtained her goal. She looks down at all the Hanoshi warriors, training away in the blistering sun.
Badum. Badum. Badum.
“This is our oasis. It is our home and our tomb for those lost. It is hidden from the prying eyes of those who want to learn Hanoshi secrets… But for my ari, it is open. You are welcome here.”
Pa’trask sighs at the beauty of the oasis and places a hand over her heart. The ring on her finger burns into her flesh as she thinks of what is about to happen.
Badum. Badum. Badum.
“It… it is beautiful… I… I am sorry.” She slowly begins to cry, smiling at her target. Her expression shows tears of joy. It is nothing but a mask. She hugs her husband, holding him close… As she plants the dagger in his chest.
Pa’trask backs away from Hwanmoon and stares as his smile fades. Her hands shake as she looks down to the poisoned dagger she stuck in his chest. Her heartbeat fades from her ears and all she can hear is Hwanmoon’s distorted voice.
“Pata... Why?”
Hwanmoon staggers back, shallow breaths escaping his lips as he stares up at the one he loved. She stares down in horror. What had she done? Had she just murdered her true love? She kneels beside him.
“Hwan… I… I am so sorry… I… I… It is for Saanja and Aehri...” Tears take place of words. The mask has broken.
Hwanmoon falls back onto the solid door at the top of the lookout. Poison coursing through his veins, He slowly steps towards Pa’trask with longing in his eyes. He does not know why she would do this to him, but in his last moments he holds no regrets. She will be the one to regret what she has done.
His body begins to crystalize, and Pa’trask gasps, rushing towards him and placing her hand on his cheek. The glass begins to crack and Pa’trask backs away as it completely shatters, leaving only Hwanmoon’s heart stuck on the dagger. Pa’trask falls to her knees and screams. She screams and she cries and begs the Gods to return her love to her. They do not respond. His heart lays on the stone, turning to glass along with the dagger.
A portal opens and the Brotherhood enters the Oasis, Niamh leading them.
Pa’trask weeps as she looks over the edge of the lookout, watching the carnage. The once beautiful town now dampened with blood. Brotherhood assassins mercilessly murder everyone from traders to Hanoshi warriors. She takes a deep, shaking breath and everything goes black.
Fog. Dense fog. Trees made from flesh. Echoing cries of unnamed voices, smiling eyes hidden by an assassin’s mask, laughter and slicing swords, magic blasting away and arrows flying through the sky, a snake hissing away... then silence.
A silent scream from her son as his fur turns black. The silent crying from his sister who watches in horror. Their uncle running into the room and grabbing the child who is now foaming from the mouth, his eyes rolling back in his head and his screams have stopped.
All silent.
Until a thunderous voice echoes beyond the fog.
“Jer raba yajoka. Bo jer thjiz qidra’mir vaber dorr zwonil.” You have succeeded. But your foolish choice was for nothing.
Deception is a Daedra’s game, and Pa’trask was no exception. With every promise of safety, there is a catch that only the mind of a Daedra could create. Her children were safe from Namiira’s corruption, but they could never again exist on Nirn at the same time. Upon the death of her son, Pa’trask wept until she fell into a deep sleep, searching the furthest parts of her dreams for Varmiina to question the trickery.
After what seemed like days of wandering the endless dream, Pa’trask fell to her knees and shouted to the darkened heavens.
“Kador, Varmiina, saj jer yath ahziss ma'a?” Why, Varmiina, do you despise my children?
“Ahziss saj’oh yath jer ma'a, ahziss ari jaadi. Dorr jaadi vara ahziss reji’ali kha'jay jaji ahziss dej’oh vako” I do not despise your children, I love them. For they are my link to the Moons that I cannot see.
“Jer yoshithka’ali ahziss... Traajir ahziss shabar jaadi tele, atarr kaaka jer kasash di ahziss... Deje derod ahziss jor an sri ahziss tal yotra!” You lied to me... Take me in their place, ask what you wish of me... just return my son and keep my daughter safe!
“Kaaka vaba sajka vaba sajka, Khajiit. Jer jor vaba shabar halku tena di Namiira... Bo jer dej yesho vako jan to wara di jer tala sanity... Ras ahziss lofith... Lofith’ji. Dan dat’ali jer tal. Q’zi roj zwoka dat, jer jor’se rabiba roj shu an jer’se vako jan pofa.” What is done is done, Khajiit. Your son is in the rotting hands of Namiira... but you can still see him at the price of your daughter’s sanity. Create my shroud... Lofith’ji. Give it to your daughter. When she wears it, your son will possess her body and you will see him again.
“Mor kha'jay trajir jer! Ahziss’se oh’jer ahziss tal saa elo jer raba!” Dark moons take you! I will not harm my daughter more than you have!
“Hmm... Mor Kha’jay raba sabi traajir’mir me! Dat vaba jer tena opa ras kaaka jer’se. Dal zaigoh an qidra, Khaj!” Hmm... Dark moons have already taken me! It is your hands so create what you will. Now wake and choose, cat!
As Pa’trask startled awake, she realized she was in the cave that she had gotten the poison from. And Niamh was next to her, sitting in a chair and sipping coffee while resting her feet on a blanketed figure... the figure groans and turns in her sleep, revealing herself to be Korerri, Pa’trask’s niece.
“Why is Korerri here? And where are my children?! Is Aehri okay? Is...”
Niamh shook her head and put down her tea on a table that was not in the cave before. “Your son is with Namiira. I thought the Dark Lady had told you that...”
Pa’trask stood up quickly and the beating of her heart began to echo in her ears again. She stumbled out of the cave and looked to the sky... a storm was coming. She dropped to her knees and screamed as loud as her voice would allow. She folded in on herself, curling into a ball and crying. She was so distraught that she could not hear the world around her, including the rain that began to fall.
As the first drop hit her face, she realized that Khenarthi was weeping with her.
