a small snort escaped the designer when he took her compliment the way he did, or at least the way he joked that he did. “well of course you’re hot, too,” she reassured with a firm nod, mentally counting all the ways he was able to make her swoon in just his looks alone. “but anyone could be hot and open their mouth and instantly that all gets retracted immediately.” which is something that had been encountered one too many times, she thought, as her thumb stroked the length of his jawline tenderly. “you, however, stimulate the brain just as much as the eyes - if not even more so. you just have a way to keep me hanging on to your words.” of course this was one of the many reasons why other guys seemed to annoy her more than anything when she attempted to date, they didn’t seem to live up to the kind of person that her own best friend was; granted, looking back now she wondered if she had intentionally tried finding the flaws for the same reason. a louder laugh came from her this time, the image in her head alone attempting to carry him around while sitting squished in a bucket being enough to amuse her, albeit even if that’s not what he was meaning. “that might be a little heavy…but maybe i’ll look into one of those wagons like we used to have when we were younger?”

the next moment was silent for a second, but this was okay for ruby, as the two both seemed to be taking the time to enjoy being held in the other’s arms. she pondered what kind of job would be okay with her simply staying in bed all day and wrapping herself in her boyfriend’s warmth, and debated how easy it would be to sketch a design or pick out fabrics in such a position. this of course she knew was only wishful thinking, but it did make her thankful for the time she did get to spend with him. though when he seemed to dodge her question, an unintentional yet exasperated sigh broke free from her lips before she promptly smiled thereafter. she could feel something was going on, it was just something that she sensed, but part of their friendship always did well on the fact that they felt like they could speak to each other if needed. ruby didn’t know if his response would be the same were they still only just friends, but she also knew she didn’t want to force anything out of him that he wasn’t comfortable with. because of this, she spoke quickly in an attempt to pull attention from the sigh from just a moment prior. “i’m not sure of just what everything entails,” she begins, pursing her lips shortly as her eyes did a quick gaze away before returning to his own. “but i am kind of bummed, actually. i found out that i’m going to have to leave early for milan fashion week, so instead of leaving a week from today i’ll have to leave in two days.” giving the man a pout, she never expected she’d be one to want to stay in her hometown instead of going to a city like milan…though when you have someone you want to stay for it makes things different. “i was even debating on asking if you’d want me to be your sugar momma so i could take you with me.” while this was true, she mentioned it more so in a joking tone knowing that the man had well too much on his plate to drop everything - and on short notice at that; she never wanted to be the kind of girlfriend to make someone give up their whole life for them.
