🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?

Hinata is in a fun position where I think she genuinely just does not consider anyone her rival. Not out of pride or thinking nobody can match her, but because her desire to improve is entirely self driven and she does not care about what other people are doing enough to get worked up about it. Similarly, she doesn't think of anyone as an arch-nemesis past perhaps a joke, because when she has a beef with someone she tends to be...very proactive about dealing with it.

That said, this doesn't stop others from making declarations.

Or the narrative from assigning her a foil.

Ishikawa Saizo, colloquially known as Diet Sasuke by the entire student body (and Dynamight, who thinks he coined the nickname himself) is what one may call her high school nemesis on the basis of being the single most annoying fucking client she has to deal with, thanks to her being the only engineer who makes bladed weapons. He's demanding. He's rude. He's dismissive of her time and her expertise. She hates him so much on a personal level.

Abeyama Seigo, her personal Bakugou in her life, may see himself as her nemesis, thanks to the narrative he's built in his own head that he is the virtuous childhood friend who realized she was a toxic snake and cut her loose. He thinks he is the good guy in their dynamic who is only trying to warn others of her treachery.

Mashiba Chihomi does not see her as a nemesis, but may come to see her as a rival. A social rival. One she cannot wrap her head around, because Chihomi is the queen bee of the social scene who is the most perfect example of femininity in action...and yet, Midoriya Hinata has as much pull as she does among the student body, despite the fact she walks and talks like a boy and refuses to participate in the social scripts Chihomi memorized years ago. It flummoxes her. She's so infuriated by it.

And these examples are just the ones who are narratively important enough to earn focus. There are others who have tried to take this title, but Hinata's apathy is a powerful thing. She does not care. She isn't about to start caring.

Mutsuhi is a different story.

Wakou Mutsuhi is in showbiz. Showbiz is a dangerous place to be, especially as a cute idol who just hit it big.

Mutsuhi has rivals galore, and a nemesis lurking around every corner.

Mutsuhi's biggest idol rivals are the ones who seem to match her group HimeHime and threaten their position at the top of the charts--one group in particular being tricky because it's not a group. It's one girl. With a goddamn duplication quirk. This little upstart just does a cute little jump and out pops fucking TEN OF HER who can immediately jump into a synchronized dance that puts other professionals to shame. Mutsuhi hates her. Fucking shortcut taking lazy ass--one of these days this girls quirk is going to backfire on her and Mutsuhi eagerly awaits the lack of foresight to show itself.

Her worst enemy professionally is definitely an idol who learned Taylor Swift tactics. She graduated from the cutesy stage to a more refined look. She starts beef with other idols so her fans can swarm them and bully them into quitting. She re-releases her own songs to cheat the charts.

She's not even good. She's mediocre as hell. But she has complete control over her fans, and that's what makes her dangerous.

But Mutsuhi's worst enemy overall?

Well that's easy.

It's her own older sister. Wakou Miri. :)

Entry 121: The Same Chapter Again Except Less Horny

You know what I realized I haven’t talked about? The Difficulty Modes in this game. Fates has two types of difficulty, with three options each. The first type determines enemy strength and is split into: Normal, which is painfully easy; Hard, which is a decent challenge; and Lunatic, which exists to tell you to go fuck yourself. There are also three death types: Classic, where units die; Casual, where units come back after battle; and Phoenix, where units come back every turn.

I think that Normal/Hard/Lunatic all have their merits. They are good for learning the game, playing the game normally, and pushing yourself respectively. There are a lot of really cool Ludonarative things accomplished by Classic mode, in addition to it being a good challenge, but Casual is a fine easier mode that I’m okay with existing. I admittedly played Casual when writing this blog.

The oddball is Phoenix. It exists so you can see the story without playing the game, except, you still have to play the game, just without any choices mattering. Also, this game isn’t written good enough to skip the game and just read the story. It would be cool to try out Phoenix/Lunatic mode as a weird challenge run, but unfortunately, Phoenix locks you into Normal mode for some reason.

I’m going to do a bunch of DLC chapters in one fel swoop now.

Xenologue 2: Beach Brawl

Corrin is given a ticket for a vacation to a tropical island, but insists that one of their siblings take it. The boy royals argue about which one of them has to go on a vacation and pass it around like a hot potato. Their retainers show up and demand they go on a vacation, leading to an eight-way brawl over who gets the ticket. In this chapter, the player chooses one royal and their retainers and has to take on the other seven teams. The chapter uses premade units instead of the royals you actually have, for balance reasons. There is a Dragon Vein that lowers the stats of other teams. I don’t have much to say about the gameplay, because I haven’t actually played this one and am just going off the script on the wiki.

Each team gets their own little bit of dialogue before battle. Kagero and Saizo vow to lay down their lives to ensure Ryoma gets a vacation. Hinoka tries to forfeit, but Setsuna and Azama force her to fight so she can bring back gifts for them. Takumi orders Oboro and Hinata to surrender, but they refuse because they know he secretly wants the vacation. Sakura and Hana are worried that the vacation is a trap, but Subaki confirms it's safe after patrolling the beach; he also tells Sakura about all the sweets and begins making her an itinerary.

Xander orders Peri and Laslow to not slack off; his retainers request seashells and drawings of women in bikinis respectively as gifts. Camilla is sad that Corrin isn't going, but Beruka and Selena refuse to let Camilla go. Leo thinks that the whole thing is a waste of time, but Odin gives a big flowery speech about how great the beach is; Niles and Odin offer to slather Leo in tanning lotion so he returns bronze gold. Elise doesn't want to go without Arthur and Effie, but they tell her that fighting for her is all the vacation they need.

If you win, it cuts to a few days later, when Anna delivers a letter and a photo of the winning lord in a swimsuit to their retainers. I assume this is designed to be fanservice, which makes Elise and Sakura's inclusion a bit sketchy. Ryoma goes swimming and trains by fighting fish. His retainers also decide to train. Azama says he misses Hinoka's criticism. Hinoka trains by fighting coconuts and says she won't send presents, disappointing Setsuna. Takumi looks happy. Oboro gets jealous because she thinks he's dating Anna now because she took the photo. Sakura eats a bunch of fruit. Subaki and Hana argue about her swimsuit.

Xander clutches a Lilith floaty because he can't swim. He also sends back extensive notes on seashells and babes. Beruka assumes Anna is a spy and tries to murder her. Selena is jealous that Camilla is having fun, while Beruka worries about assassins. Beruka hopes Camilla brings back poison as a gift. Leo wears his cape to the beach and stays inside all day. He tells his retainers it was a waste of time. Arthur somehow rips his own underwear out while retrieving a letter from his pocket. Elise makes leis for her retainers. The retainers explain they would have been miserable at the beach and decide to spar.

Xenologue 3: Boo Camp

Boom Camp exists so you can grind EXP by endlessly fighting faceless. Felicia or Jakob tells Corrin that the army is weak, so they should train on a haunted mountain and overcome their fear. The plot is bare bones, but every unit gets a unique line when they fight the faceless. I'm going to only mention the interesting ones.

Azura admits that people used to think the castle was haunted because of her singing. Jakob threatens to level a mountain if Corrin is injured. Kaze says he was haunted by a woman's ghost once and does not elaborate. Mozu says that she doesn't believe in ghosts and that the faceless are just monsters, then worries that she's started seeing ghosts. Shura vows to do right by the restless spirits of Kohga, if they exist. Fuga says he’ll push his limits, even though he’s old.

Takumi screams for the monsters to get away. Azama complains about them trampling over the mountain, then realizes he's also trampling and decides to purify himself. Setsuna says the faceless aren't as scary as the decapitated corpse she ended up trapped in a pit with. Hinata is reminded of a woman in a white who hovered in a graveyard when he was a kid and comes to the conclusion, not that she's a ghost, but that she had a crush on him. Oboro says people are more scared of her than ghouls. Hayato is scared because he is a child. Kaden asks the monsters to scare him because he thinks fear is fun. Yukimura mentions that there are rumors of ghosts haunting Castle Shirasagi and says that he hopes there are, so he can see Sumeragi or Mikoto again. Scarlet assumes it's an exercise to get them to pair off as couples, for some reason.

Xander says that the thing he always feared was his father late at night. Camilla says that the Woods of the Forlorn and the games she played as a kid are scarier than the monsters. Leo says the dead envy him and that so do most of the living. Effie asks the faceless to come back to her gym for daily training. Peri screams because she's scared of mummies, then realizes it's just faceless and kills them. Selena calls the whole chapter stupid and says that she's seen way worse things, for example Camilla when she's upset, which is apparently scarier than the zombie apocalypse she was raised in. Benny complains that everyone mistakes him for a monster then screams because he sees monsters. Keaton likes the mud and bones. Gunter says it's dumb to waste EXP on him because he has bad growths.

Shigure decides to paint the mountain and the faceless. Midori is scared, but plans to make medicine out of monsters. Asugi pretends the monsters are pinatas. Hisame brings up Hinata's ghost crush, who apparently was seen behind him. Rhajat thinks the dreary mountain is dope. Siegbert thinks he is unfit to be king because he's scared. Soleil hears girls screaming and is into it.

At the end of the chapter, Corrin decides to come back later for more training, scaring their retainers.

Xenologue 4: Ghostly Gold

This chapter is like Boo Camp but for gold instead. The chapter begins with Lloyd and Lleewelyn informing Corrin that people keep looting the ruined temple they look after. Corrin offers to help. Because the looters attack at dawn, everyone has to stay up late. Also the looters are ghosts. Once again, everyone gets a single line, this time complaining about staying up late. Jakob dreams of fighting in his underwear, something you can make him do in Castle Battles. Silas gets tricked into licking a toad to stay awake. Kaze can't sleep without his favorite pillow.

Ryoma grumpily says he doesn't need sleep or breakfast or coffee. Hinoka falls asleep mid-sentence. Takumi points out that taking turns sleeping was an option. Sakura spills coffee on herself and others. Saizo says he can stay up for five days straight. Azama says he knows how to sleep in the middle of a conversation without people knowing. Setsuna says that she went to bed early instead of keeping watch because she knew the others would wake her. Kaden says he sleeps while curled up into a ball. Orochi says it was adorable how the others slapped each other to stay awake. Rinkah says she slapped people to keep them awake. Yukimura praises the tactical plan of striking when everyone was asleep, then points out he has caffeine. Scarlet says that this is the first time she's ever seen a sunrise because she normally sleeps in.

Camilla says she is in a MOOD because she and Corrin couldn't sleep. Leo says he will make the next person who calls him grouchy suffer. Odin says his eyelids are being pulled down by ghost magic. Niles says he always sleeps with one eye open, but then again he normally does things with only one eye open. Laslow says he stays up for pillow talk. Peri cries and says she's emotional when she doesn't get enough sleep, meaning she probably hasn't slept all game. Beruka says she took part in a three-week stakeout once. Benny says he was too scared to fall asleep because people told ghost stories. Keaton is mad everyone knows he snores. Gunter falls asleep boasting.

Shigure sings a lullaby to keep himself awake and accidentally puts everyone else to sleep. Dwyer complains about having to make all the coffee when he's tired. Sophie, half asleep, thinks the ghosts are cotton candy. Midori makes worm juice energy drinks. Mitama can't write a good poem because it's four in the morning. Caeldori says she should have brought a romance novel to keep her awake. Forrest complains about having to sleep on the ground, which is bad for his skin and hair. Velouria is nocturnal. Percy says he annoys Arthur in the morning. Soleil says she almost showed up naked.

Corrin decides to give back all the gold the bandits dropped. The twins give them the gold as a reward. After Corrin leaves, Lloyd and Llewelyn mention the gold is cursed and gives bad breath.

Xenologue 5: Museum Melee

Team Corrin goes to an interrealm museum featuring rare weapons. The curator explains there's a battle to the death over the weapons Corrin can compete in. Okay. Also the museum is on an airship for some reason. This one allows you to get rare weapons and items. You can also get capturable bosses here, because bosses are also items. Corrin points out that they shouldn't be fighting with real weapons. Felicia wants a tea set she can't break. Shura points out that he's still robbing people, even after renouncing his bandit life. Izana requests to be given the entire airship.

Ryoma worries about Ranjito being stolen. Saizo calls the whole situation absurd, but does what is demanded. Setsuna says wheeee because she's on an airship. Oboro compares it to a holiday sale. Yukimura is disappointed that it isn't a real museum.

Xander points out that only he can wield Siegfried, because he is a bad father and forgot his son exists. Elise says she wants a divine weapon like her brothers. Arthur is confused by being forced to act like a mugger. Peri begs Corrin to let her kill people. Selena goes to the gift shop.

Dwyer wants coffee from alternate universes. Midori tries to trade drugs for weapons, because she is secretly Ronald Reagan. Shiro wants a weapon that can beat his father's. Selkie does not grasp that a fight is going on. Hisame wants pickle-eating utensils. Ignatius gets airsickness. Nina follows hot guys around.

After the battle, the curator explains that the weapons were donated by realms no longer at war. He explains that the people we just beat up were also from war-torn realms and Corrin feels sad. I don't. Soldiers are not always good, Corrin. Corrin says they'll donate the weapons after they've won the war, so others can achieve peace.

Xenologue 6: Royal Royale

This one takes place after Revelation. A version of the Rainbow Sage from the Outrealms informs the princesses that Corrin is in danger. Specifically, an alternate universe version of Corrin who hasn't beat the game yet is in danger. He tells the princesses to spar to see who is the strongest, which will allow him to make stat boosting items for Corrin. Somehow. The girls don't to fight each other, but agree once they find out the princes already agreed.

Wait a minute. This is just Beach Brawl again, except less horny this time! What a rip-off!

Winning nets you a Dread Scroll for the Hoshidans and an Ebon Wing for the Nohrians, plus a character specific stat booster (Secret Book for Takumi, Energy Drop for Ryoma, Seraph Robe for Hinoka, Dracoshield for Xander, Spirit Dust for Leo, Godess Icon for Elise, and Talisman for Camilla).

Gelatun

The giant rat that makes all- yeah.

Gelatun, my lame wordplay of "glutton", is a giant rat that carries around a sack that is essentially a mini-dimension. Able to create portals and having the ability to create rat minions, he would take whatever he wants and gouge himself on the goods afterwards.

Dominus Skuul

A race that can shapeshift into treasure to catch people off-guard! Gould hides himself in out of the way places to ambush and steal off adventurers. He keeps his valuables in a pocket dimension inside of his body that can be accessed through the mouth, his chest, and a third place he doesn't like to mention.

Saizo and Aurora

I was going to do a run of Pokemon Legends: Arceus until I lost interest in favor of Scarlet's release. The two starters I kept debating on choosing? Samurott and Typhlosion. Samu is simply cool and Typhlosion had that cool spirit soul flame thing going on.

And then I never did the run. Good job, me.

Saizo is a hot-headed not-a-samurai-actually who simply wants to get into fights while Aurora is his partner in crime that enjoys enabling him to do so for her own entertainment. They're both air-headed goofs that simply like being in situations.

ANOTHER music based character?

So, on October 10th, 2023, I sent this message to a friend of mine.

"I thought of a random OC concept guy named D-Jragon who comes from a futuristic dimension where everyone is a lot fucking bigger than average he hosts concerts where he plays live but he's so kaiju sized he has to be a good distance away he has flame breath but his flames look like equalizer beats"

And yeah I thought it was cool.

On November 7th, 2023, a tweet from a scalie posting account got onto my timeline featuring this character.

Evil Dragon (Teen Titans GO)

Now, I have many designs on this blog. Some of which are borderline bootlegs of other characters.

But I swear to you that I have never seen this character before in my life and that idea was so mine that I'm still angry about it. I was so mad that it caused me to draw what I wanted even though it was way too ambitious for someone at my art level.

And I guess I did alright making it.

He has no wings but rather levitating machines emitting equalizer waves that give off the illusion of them.

The Wanderer

I booted up Soul Calibur 6 and made this guy.

Just a humble lizardman that ventures around the land, selling goods he acquires on his journey that are stashed in his pocket dimensional bag. He defends himself valiantly with his trusty polearm.

Doesn't talk much but he's a bit fruity.

Celiant and Crayert

What a bunch a looney toons.

Celiant and Crayert are cartoony lads that have all the abilities you'd expect from one; from fourth wall breaks, abuse of physics, reality warping, and unexplained hammerspace. In their debut episodes, Celiant was the friendly, crafty, and ambitious one, while Crayert was the soft-spoken, bit dimwitted, and quick-tempered one.

Celiant was created by a no-name animation company hoping to bank off the success of Demonte's paintings. Celi was made without Demonte's consent, though Demonte never attempted to halt the cartoon's production when he became aware of it. Crayert was created after Geyton saw the cartoon on TV, noticed the resemblance to Demonte, traveled to the studio where the show was being produced, and held everyone in the building hostage until they produced an episode where a character based off his likeness was included. Although Crayert could've been removed after the episode aired, they were afraid Geyton might come back for revenge, so he became the show's deuteragonist instead.

All was fine and dandy, until new episodes had begun airing on the network that the studio nor the producers had a hand in creating. It was as if Celiant and Crayert were truly having adventures in another land...

Azis and Ashikaga

That isn't Jubei Blazblue I swear.

A pair of royals in a far off kingdom. Azis, the rapidly-promoted-to-second-in-command and quick-tempered demon cat with an ego, and the well-read and knowledge hungry Ashikaga, the sudden heir to the throne.

Azis was technically created by someone else's personal interpretation of Zhel, while Ashikaga was a character of theirs that they gave to me, which resulted in my personal interpretation of him.

Azis and Zhel aren't related; think of it as Azis being created in Zhel's image instead. They wouldn't want that anyway, they already hate each other enough thinking they're superior to the other in every way.

Mal (Noxious) and Ellis (Mephit)

Noxious and his Mutant Form

Mal was a former war vet turned mercenary that would work under Hentsworth. His reputation of surviving the worst of missions and frequently being the remaining one alive in his squad earned him quite the reputation. It took a genetic weapon delivery gone wrong (as Hentsworth purposely left out details about rival factions that wanted it) to finally put Mal and his current crew to the grave.

Or at least, Mal would've died if he didn't inject himself with what he was transporting as a last result. Now a super soldier hunted down by his former employer and other companies wanting his altered DNA, he couldn't ask for a more exciting life.

Ellis' Casual and Karate Outfit

Ellis was a troubled teen who turned to bullying and destructive habits to sate himself. As an adult, he landed a job as a bodyguard, abusing his position for more benefits. It wasn't until the day a former victim of his showed up, one he recognized from his teen years, armed with a knife and intent on getting revenge that he realized just how his actions had affected people.

Wanting to set himself straight, he turned to anger management, self-defense classes, and therapy. He would eventually become a master of martial arts, helping other troubled individuals find inner peace.

Sonis

A rowdy troublemaker with a history of impulsive behaviors. He ran into Ellis during a walk home, who demanded he fork over anything of value. Sonis refused and in return was beaten senseless. The black eye and various bruises were the subject of mockery by his fellow classmates, who declared it was deserved.

He would realize Ellis was a regular around the neighborhood. Every walk home was made with uncertainty in his safety as Ellis seemed to appear wherever he pleased. The routine was established whenever they crossed paths; hand over something good or get another black eye.

This caused Sonis to develop a grudge that would not go away with time. After graduating, he began taking self-defense classes so he could enact his revenge. Using what he was taught, he began roaming the streets to pick fights with the local thugs in reckless attempts to improve his abilities; something that didn't always end in his favor and somehow didn't end with him losing his life. Once he believed he was ready to put Ellis in his place, he tracked the skunk down to the local dojo.

In the center of the dojo was his target, performing various katas. Sonis approached him and demanded a fight, boasting about how strong he's become as a result of his training.

Ellis could not recall who Sonis was at all.

This made the badger furious enough to attack in a fit of rage. Sonis couldn't land a blow on the skunk before being quickly subdued with relative ease. With tears in his eyes, Sonis slung every insult he could think of as he laid pinned to the floor.

Ellis was overcome with guilt. This was clearly someone, one of many really, whose life he made miserable. Helping the badger up, he offered to make amends by teaching Sonis the various techniques he had learned. Sonis, too emotional to comprehend this change of heart, angrily accepted, only if to use what he'd learn to give Ellis the beating he rightfully deserved one day.

As time went on, the two developed a mutual respect for each other. When he had a cool head, Sonis' fighting skills were almost on par with Ellis. The master and student dynamic had quickly transformed into one of a master and fellow master. Their skills improved with every spar and they soon became the dojo's defining prodigies.

Sonis became...slightly less of a troublemaker due to his experiences. Slightly.

I'm curious what are ur thoughts on Takumi? I personally don't like him, but I always give ppl the chance to try to change my mind abt him

lol I had a feeling sooner or later that someone was goingto ask me my opinion on this kid. OKAY BUCKLE UP. There’s no way I can be brieftalking about a character like him so here we go.

Takumi is without a doubt one of the more complex andlayered character of Fates (but not the most, no, that honor would go to Xander.But Takumi is definitely just behind him.) This is a great and welcome change fromAwakening where most of the cast just were as they were and didn’t have anydevelopment or character arcs or great change for better or for worse duringthe entire story (the only ones who really did are Chrom (a bit), some villainsif you count spotpass which is barely canon, and perhaps Lucina a tad). Fatescranked this up quite a bit with many of the royal family members going throughgreat character arcs for better and for worse in both routes, and some nonmain/royal characters who have smaller—but still powerful and significant—charactermoments… some being only for the worse (like Flora and Gunter to a similarextent).

But the real question here is how I feel about Takumispecifically. And I don’t suppose that’s really a simple question to answer (Ialso figure you sent me this ask bc you want to see me analyze him and talk indepth about his character lol. So I’ll do that a bit here too instead of justgiving my opinion.) For one I actually really like complex and multi layeredcharacters. I tend to avoid or disregard the ones that don’t really haveanything going for them (I feel like if Kaze didnt have all his character stuffI might not have liked him as much. If anything it really works to his benefiton how he appeals to me (and a reason why I like him better than say, Frederick)). So as long as a character is complex and goes throughsome nice development, even if I dont like their personality, it’s hard for meto at least not respect how they were written as a character, you know.

And I think that describes how I feel about Takumi too lol.NOW DONT GET ME WRONG, I definitely don’t hate him in any sense of the word.It’s just that……… I don’t like tsunderes lol. And here I’m going to usetsundere here as an umbrella term for “a character who is mean to you but doesn’treally hate you, necessarily”. Fates actually has a few of these characters invarying levels of intensity: Saizo, Rinkah, Selena lololol. And Takumi is oneof them too. But honestly I like to give Takumi the benefit of the doubt herebecause among them all, he’s has the most understandable and relateable reasons for acting the way he does to you.  Like Saizo is an ass just because lol (I get his pricklypersonality also stems from how he was brought up and the position he wasmeant to fill and everything but geez dude CHILL). Rinkah is an even worse casehere since she’s just very angry and snippy to everyone bc LOL FLAME TRIBE GETIT!? SHE’S LIKE FIRE LMAO. AND THAT MEANS SHE’S ANGRY LOLOLOLOLOOL.

And while I generally dislike tsunderes (or at least maletsunderes because I find they’re generally more harsh and brutal to you), I’mwilling to give Takumi a pretty big benefit of the doubt here because of what MADEhim the way he is. He has a LOT of reasons why he developed his harsh and coldattitude toward strangers. I feel like most people who dislike or even hateTakumi have no compassion for what he went through and just disregard it asirrelevancy. Like they’re just either unwilling or unable to understand him. AndI get it, like sometimes you’ll come across a character that you can’t findyourself liking no matter what. But I feel like when you understand whereTakumi’s coming from and what made him this way, he becomes MUCH less of a shitand much easier to sympathize with.  

Okay so a lot of people give Takumi shit in his firstappearance for being really mean to both you and Azura. Like literally thefirst thing you hear him say (outside of the weird dream battle in the prologue)is that he doesn’t trust you or Azura and he’s not really going to give you achance. Now the game doesn’t really explain why he’s so harsh to you from theget go (which is why I think people get upset with Takumi and his first real appearance gives you a bad impression of him from the start), but guess what he actually has a legit reason for how he acted here. I’m not going to go superdeep into why, but instead I’m going to recommend you watch the Fates drama CD.More specifically the Birthright one which recounts chapters 4ish to 6 in Fates,from mostly Takumi’s perspective. And these tracks humanize him WONDERFULLY andexplains and justifies PERFECTLY his attitude toward you in his firstappearance AND afterward. Like Takumi actually REALLY did want to like you, getfamiliar with you as his family, and form a relationship and a bond with you.Just… a lot of unfortunate things kept getting in the way. It’s DEFINITELY wortha watch and honestly just tore at my heart strings, and put a lot of things in perspectiveand set up the beginning of Takumi’s character arc perfectly. Long story short?It’s all Saizo’s fault lol.

Takumi gets his best development and most exploration ofcharacter ironically in Conquest. Also, personally, I just find Conquest to,generally, be the best written of all three routes. Yes Takumi does have somemoments in Birthright, but they either exist for eerie foreshadowing for whatwill happen in Conquest

or they just aren’t written that well.

And when I play Birthright, I find that is the route I enjoyTakumi the least. Yes my feelings are still far far away from hate. But whenhe’s not pushed into the extreme downward spiral situation like he is inConquest, he just ends up acting like a snippy tsundere. I mean even toward hisfamily and very late in the game too he keeps acting this way with theoccasional snarky comment or “more harsh than he meant it to comeoff” remark. Which wore on me a little bit but nowhere near as much asSaizo or Rinkah’s constant mean attitude. Takumi’s support with MU is also agood example of this. And since M!Corrin is canon with BR, and F!Corrin iscanon with Conquest, I think Takumi’s support was written with M!Corrin inmind, no matter which one you pick. Which is why I think he acts so mean to youin that support.

Despite my gripes with Birthright, the one valuable thing itdoes show us about Takumi’s character is his dorky side. Because this boy is adork lol. And this is actually a surprising, but also very welcoming, side ofhis character to see. I don’t think Takumi’s tsundere side is who he is. It’sjust an unfortunate byproduct of his inferiority complex and ptsd from Corrinbeing taken away and leaving a huge void in the family. It’s not who he is. Andin Birthright we really get to see more of Takumi’s better side in a morecasual and less extreme environment in supports with other people in the army.We get to see firsthand he’s actually a very sweet, kind and well meaning boy.Yall haven’t forgot that DAD IS ON THE WAY comment right lol. Takumi is verypure of heart and its really nice to see this part of him in BR. Like, look, he is a NERD

AND in his support with Oboro when she makes some clothes and asks his opinion he says “this gets the Takumi seal of approval” AND do you remember how he pushes Leo’s back and brings him closer to the group in that very last cutscene of Rev? YEAH

In my Revelations opinion piece where I talked aboutcharacters, I mentioned the four big ones who get the most development andcharacter focus in this game, those being: Xander, Ryoma, Leo and Takumi. Nowthese four are similar in that they both kind of have a good end character arcand a bad end character arc depending on whether you’re playing BR or Conquest.Like Xander gets his best end in Conquest while BR is his WORST.

So, naturally, the same is applicable for Takumi whereConquest leads to his bad end. Or… does it?  

Now everything here begins with Anankos. It’s never actuallyofficially stated anywhere exactly WHEN Takumi was first possessed by him, butif I were going to put my two cents in, I would say it happened when Mikotodied in chapter five. Now going back again to the drama CD, we get to see morehere just how deeply this affected Takumi. In the game Takumi only talks to youpost battle in chapter five where he just screams curses and blame at you. Ifyou don’t know where he’s coming from, this also puts him in a kind of badlight. But the drama CD gives us another more focused account on what Takumiwent through in the direct aftermath of Mikoto’s death and its really notpretty. And if there was any perfect time to want to brainwash this kid, itwould have been here.

Now Leo and Takumi are sort of similar as characters in thatthey kind of have the same problems and struggles. Like they both haveinferiority complexes, and are desperate to live up to their over achieving siblingsect. I think the most important part where they differ—and why Takumi waspossessed and not Leo—is that Leo has his pride. I feel like he has less selfdoubt than Takumi and a higher opinion of himself than Takumi does of himself.(I’m also sure Leo’s magic power helped to stave Anankos’ influence off a bit).Takumi was also put in more extreme situations than Leo was. Keeping in mindTakumi is kind of weak of constitution and has a low opinion on himself, andthat he just saw the woman he’s known as his mother killed before his eyes,gives us more than enough reasons for him to fall hard victim to Anankos’influence here lol.

When you take into consideration everything that happens toTakumi in Conquest, its honestly not hard to understand why he became this way.Firstly, I believe Anankos’ endgame goal here was to kill Takumi, and as soonas possible. For whatever reason, Anankos can’t completely control someoneunless they’re dead first (as evidenced by all the other people he controlslike Sumeragi, Arete, the people of Valla, Garon too—though its not really madeclear to us how or when he died).

Like, we don’t get this

 until Anankos hassuccessfully pushed Takumi beyond the breaking point and gets him killed.

Before then Takumi is very angry sure, but he’s stillhimself to at least some extent. He’s not ‘completely lost’.

So what Anankos did instead to further his agenda wasamplify Takumi’s emotions of anger, rage and hate and push him to the breakingpoint. I think Anankos actually kind of sees himself in Takumi because theyboth had similar issues and personal downfalls, and that added with Takumialready being kind of mentally weak and vulnerable, was the perfect recipe fordisaster here.

In Conquest, Takumi suffers. A lot. Think about all of thisfor a second. He fights and loses to you in chapter 10 which, in his mind, allowsyou to move forward and attain greater power that he knows you’re going to useto harm his friends and family in Hoshido. And him losing to you only adds tohis inferiority complex because he was unable to stop you. In chapter 13 afterhe loses to you, Hans goes on a bloody killing spree, brutally taking the livesof Orochi, Reina and Scarlet. And Takumi has NO reason to think you didn’t havea hand in either helping Hans or allowing him to go through with it. And thelast time you see him alive in chapter 23, you’ve just started your invasion ofHoshido, have captured Sakura, her retainers, and Yukimura, and you’ve just gotdone killing Oboro and Hinata—because let’s not mince words here, they do die inchapter 23. So, honestly, taking all this into account, even WITHOUT Anankosbuffing his rage, Takumi has every right to act as angry and frustrated withyou as he does in Conquest. And anger blinds.

And all of that finally culminates to Takumi DOING A FLIPoff the Great Wall of Suzanoh.  And nowthat he is dead, Anankos has more control over him. Based on what we see ingame I don’t think Anankos can 100% control a person like a puppet, but more orless influence their extreme negative desires. When we see characters likeTakumi or Garon as a goo zombie, they don’t even mention Anankos by name, impliedor otherwise. When you see Takumi again he’s gone FULLMADNESS and his onlydesire is to kill you, which were his biggest defining thoughts when he wasalive in Conquest, now pushed beyond to the extreme now that he’s dead and completelyunder Anankos’ influence. He’s basically just a zombie made out of nothing buthate and the desire to kill you. I actually think Anankos probably wanted touse him as a trump card just in case you ended up stopping Garon, which you did.

Luckily we still got the power of love to contend with here.The ‘dream sequence’ at the very end of Conquest does wonders for both Takumiand the viewer. Like, even if you DON’T like him, you had to have feltsomething here. What both Corrin and Takumi needed in this route more thananything, but didn’t get the chance to do until now, was to TALK IT TF OUT. Andtalking it out can really do wonders. Takumi in this dream sequence appears toyou as his truest self and is able to give to you all of his honest to goodnessfeelings and smooth things over for the most part. And as a bonus he infusesYato with some Fujin Yumi goodness so you’re all good. (Which, now that I think about it, is some kind of symbolism with him truly forgiving you, apologizing to you, and giving his heart to you)

The Conquest finale will always be incredibly special to me.Because unlike in every other FE endgame where you just kill a transparentlyevil big bad dragon (or in Sacred Stone’s case—SATAN) after all the horrible,cruel, bloody and nasty stuff you went through in Conquest, after hitting rock bottomafter rock bottom, the last thing you do in the route is fight to save someone’ssoul. And that is honestly so powerful to me, and a reason why I’ll alwaysprefer Conquest over BR or Rev.

That’s more or less all I have to say about Takumi opinionswise. He is a very extreme character, and because of some of his actions inConquest I can understand people not liking him. But, much like Xander, he is avery complex and layered character who has a lot going on for him. He’sdefinitely not one of those characters you can just write off at first glancewithout trying to understand what makes him who he is, and why he acts theextreme ways that he does, and understand the reasons why he does the thingsthat people give him flack for.

It’s definitely okay not to like him if you don’t want to—I appreciatehim a lot as a character but I could really take or leave his tsundere side—buthate him or not, you got to admit he’s one of the best characters in this game.If everything you read here didn’t change your opinion on him or cause you tosympathize more with him, then I gotta recommend you go watch/listen to thatDrama CD because like I said, it really does WONDERS for Takumi as a character,explaining where he’s coming from, his stand points on things, and explaininghis volatile attitude toward you. He really doesn’t hate you at all, butsometimes people can let their emotions get the worst of them without meaningto—and when a centuries old evil helldragon is controlling you, it’s honestlyno wonder things got so bad, right.

And, all in all, TAKUMI DID NOT DESERVE THIS SUFFERING AND HE DESERVED SO MUCH MORE AND DESERVES HAPPIEST END

Rant time!

This’ll be a long one, by the way.

One thing that does annoy me in both Awakening and Fates is characters that only have supports with one, usually the avatar, character.

Often because it doesn’t make any sense. And don’t get me started on how the adults and ‘kids’ can only support with those in their age group for the most part, excluding their parents and the avatar.

Like, in Awakening, all of the DLC characters only have supports with Robin. Anna has two but still counts, really.

When that doesn’t even make too much sense. I mean, it wouldn’t be too hard to think of who else they would get a support with.

Gangrel: Chrom, Aversa, Emmeryn, maybe Tharja Walhart: Say’ri, Yen’fay, Basilio and Flavia, and maybe Virion. Emmeryn: CHROM AND LISSA. The most fucking obvious thing do to. Also probably Lucina, Tiki, and Frederick. Yen’fay: Say’ri and Walhart. Maybe Lon’qu and Virion. Aversa: As mentioned, Gangrel, and probably Henry and Tharja. Maybe Chrom. Priam: ...Ok, this one is harder because the character doesn’t show up before the end game. But i can still think of some. Chrom, because both are descended from a legendary hero and have even inherited their blades. Vaike, thinking Priam would be a worthy opponent for him. Lon’qu, wanting to cross blades with him. Say’ri and Yen’fay, for the same reason as Lon’qu. Basilio and Flavia, both trying to recruit him as their champion. Maybe even someone like Miriel or Laurent, wanting to know more about the Radiant Hero. Anna: Gaius, because Anna can procure tough to get ingredients for his sweets. Libra, trying to warn her from her greed for gold. Olivia, thinking she can make a mint from charging people to see performances by her. Maybe even Panne and Yarne, trying to get secret taguel recipes that she can mass produce and sell.

See? It really is not that hard!

Even with Fates, let’s see if I can remember the characters who just have a support with the avatar... Or just a few supports.

I won’t be including the amiibo characters, by the way. While it would be nice to have supports with them, I would also be really annoyed because I hate when a game locks content like that behind amiibo and doesn’t even give like a DLC option to get the content instead.

Shura: Uh. Kaze, Saizo and Kagero would be good options. Ryoma could also work. On of the other side of the conflict, Niles would work. I’m also kinda leaning towrds Benny and Arthur for him, and maybe Elise. Reina: Uh, she works for the palace of Hoshido. Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi... maybe not Sakura because of her taste for violence. Saizo, Kagero, Setsuna, Azama, Orochi, Hana, Subaki... there is a long fucking list of people she could have supported with. So why was it only Corrin? Who the fuck knows. I could also see her having a support with Gunter. Scarlet: Another wasted oppurtunity. Ryoma of course is an obvious one. Saizo and Kagero too, being Ryoma’s retainers. She could even have ‘frenemy’ supports with the Nohr royalty, her seeing them as part of the problem at first but gradually coming to see that they’re not like Garon. Gunter: Xander is a pretty obvious one. Flora is another. It is a bit harder for Gunter since he primarily just shows up as this game’s ‘Jagen’ character, but I still think there would be plenty who have heard stories about him and either want training or to test their mettle against him. Flora: Uh, Jabob? That’s a pretty obvious one. Nohr royalty who want to check up on how Corrin is doing. Yukimura: See Reina’s thing about working in the palace of Hoshido? That pretty much applies for Yukimura too. Izana: Royals of both countries, and possibly some of their retainers too. Fuga: He would be another good one to have a support with Gunter. Maybe also Hinata, and basically anyone who wants to become a good, strong warrior, like Rinkah. Anna: Kaden and Keaton, trying to find out secret recipes of their races to sell, Beruka, Charlotte and Izana.

See, it’s really not that hard to think of at least a few more characters to expand on these supports. And it is really annoying when they’re just given one support with the avatar and then maybe one other, they could have really fleshed out these characters. The problem was definitely worse in Fates, a lot of the characters I mentioned do not have much depth and that definitely could have been changed with some more supports. Hell, I had to look at a character list for Fates because characters like Yukimura and Shura are pretty forgettable.

I could go on and add some of the capturable enemies in Fates (Candace needs more attention because she’s actually pretty hot) but nyeh.

And now, ranking the Fates characters by how good they are as parents.  I’ll just be ranking the canon parent, since generic supports annihilated cohesive characterization by making all the parent dialogues identical.

Also, I do need to address this.  Every parent in Fates is garbage.  They throw their kids into an interdimensional time portal and essentially don’t raise them at all.  So comparing them like this is basically comparing turds by how rank they are.  It doesn’t matter that some aren’t as awful as others, you’re still not gonna find one that smells good, you know?

Corrin - Honestly, she’s got a strong Camilla-esque vibe to her protectiveness toward Kana.  I like it.  Also Kana knows when Corrin is coming to visit, and seems to imply that this is a routine thing, making Corrin one of the few known parents who actually makes a point to visit her kit.  A-rank.

Azura - Once again, your decision to be cryptic for no reason causes nothing but problems for everyone involved, and your son, who you didn’t raise on your own, had his entire village annihilated by foes that went after him to get to you, but you never warned him or them about anything?  D-rank.

Jakob - While hyper-critical, he’s not entirely off the mark, in terms of what Dwyer needs to be doing.  He’s not a bad kid though, so it does come across as more harsh than he really needs to be to make a point, since Dwyer is ultimately self-sufficient and capable.  C-rank.

Silas - Actually a pretty good dad.  He’s one of the few that just actively admires his child coming out of their deeprealm to help others, is fully supportive of them staying with the group, and is supportive of Sophie in general. It is Silas, so he’s a little generic with his praises, but it’s still a better parenting approach than most of them. A-rank.

Kaze - And here to completely outdo Silas is Kaze.  Again, Midori seems to know when he’s coming, meaning like Corrin, his appearance is a routine thing in her life.  Not perfectly routine though, which creates a bit of conflict between the two, in which Kaze is able to express that he always did his best to be there for her, but kept her here to be safe.  Willing to admit mistakes, accepting of her decisions, clear care for his child despite the poor general decision of leaving your children unattended in deeprealms, but is willing to actually be a parent and reprimand them for their poor decisions, while still being compassionate in his approach.  S-rank.  Kaze’s a good dad.

Ryoma - Honestly, I love that Shiro actually calls him out about not raising him at all.  Also the unnecessary secrecy about who he is and not letting Shiro know his status, and then being irritated when Shiro grows up without any direction in life.  Honestly I’m coming around on Shiro, who has so far been right on the money about how shit a father Ryoma is.  D-rank.

Takumi - Honestly Takumi’s pretty solid?  The support has him being a bit of a dick because he’s jealous of his own kid’s ability, but in the paralogue proper he’s honestly a pretty solid dad?  Like he shows up unannounced so we know he’s taking time to actually meet with his kid, and is fairly protective of him.  He does give in to letting Kiragi come along for dumber reasons, but on the whole he’s solid.  A-rank.

Saizo - He’s kind of a dick?  This is very much how Saizo is, but his entire thing is like...the honor of the family name to the point he doesn’t seem to have any connection to his kid, just his bloodline.  He does eventually let his kid be himself, but only in that, when he demonstrates “his own brand of honor,” Saizo gives him that freedom, but by basically disowning him as next in the Saizo line.  Which is I guess what the kid wanted, but still, it’s kind that “Grant your freedom, but you’re not my son” type feel.  D-rank.

Kaden - He’s alright?  He doesn’t do much, but he at least makes plenty of time to go visit his daughter just for the sake of visiting.  Still, he’s so bad at raising his child that she doesn’t know what dead means, and thinks poachers are there to play.  So present, but perhaps too permissive and uninvolved in actually raising her.  C-rank.

Hinata - Apparently just fucking forgot to make time for his kid.  He’s loving in his own way, but clearly not putting his child as a top priority in a lot of cases.  Not the worst, but certainly not good.  C-rank.

Azama - F-rank.  I don’t really need to explain this, do I?  Fuck Azama.  Even Saizo realizes how much of a callous fuckhead he is toward his own kid.  SAIZO!  Also you somehow gave your daughter a separate world from yours, in the attempt to give her a life of peace, which she achieves and is happier without you, so you storm in only when she’s in active danger, then insist on dragging her out of this peaceful realm into the world of constant war...just because?  Fuck Azama.  F-rank forever.

Subaki - He’s a decent dad.  It does kind of imply that he’s been away for a while, so questionable how much time he’s actually spending with her.  And while he’s generally doting and kind toward his daughter, there is that weird ending bit where he gets nervous about her outperforming him.  I’ll give it a B-rank overall.

Hayato - Honestly, he’s wishy-washy.  Either you fully support your daughter’s mad science or you don’t.  You can’t half-ass this, acknowledging she loves the dark arts and permitting her to mess around with it, and then step in and insist it’s off limits when it turns out the dark arts also have some potentially evil consequences.  Stepping in when he does to take things away feels more like backpedaling on a decision he already made to let her do as she pleases, which was probably too permissive as it stands.  C-rank, which is honestly pretty good for a teen parent compared to some of these other shitheads.

Xander - Finally on the Nohrians.  Xander actually like...talks to his kid.  Siegbert knows what his role is, and even if Xander can’t visit as often as he’d like in person, he keeps in contact through missives.  Now, there is the issue of his stance being “You have to learn to shoulder some burdens alone,” and thinking his son refusing to contact him about these fucking swamp demons was commendable.  So he’s definitely not perfect on this front.  But he does acknowledge that this is the burden of a leader having to make such choices, is accepting and understanding of his son’s autonomy and decisions while still being firm about keeping him safe from war and sending him back should he prove himself unready.  A-rank overall, I think.

Leo - Okay listen.  While I do recognize that Leo comes around and starts trying to be a better father, and I recognize the importance of growth and improvement. But the fact that Leo has spent most of his son’s life avoiding him because he disapproves of his interest in feminine fashion is just inexcusable.  The time to step up as a parent and learn this shit was a long-ass time ago, man.  You’ve basically been out of your child’s life this entire time, shown up only to angrily disapprove of how he lives his life, and now want to walk back in and expect that trying to change means he should give you that chance?  Why?  There’s no reason for Forrest to be the one who has to acknowledge you’re changing and growing as a person.  If nothing else, at least Forrest completely tells him off, and when Leo makes his attempt at reconciliation, his first thought is that he’s excited to get to know Elise.  Get fucked, Leo.  At least you go to save your kid, and don’t seem to express that you’re willing to let him die.  But you did stall on going, so like...fuck you.  F-tier.

Benny - And now for the exact opposite.  Benny’s an absolute sweetheart, and it’s no surprise he’s the same with his son.  He seems to care greatly for his son, is proud of his actions, and while protective, is willing to support his son’s decision to become stronger and learn to defend others with courage, while also teaching him that he’s not as fearless as he seems.  Honestly, maybe it’s just the feeling coming off of Leo, but S-rank.  We don’t really know how often he visits Ignatius, but I’d like to believe it’s often.

Keaton - Nothing too exciting, nothing too bad.  An easy, uninteresting B-rank.

Arthur - Apparently he’s never visited.  And openly stated that because he thought his son was safe here, his job was done.  This is the most intense version of just literally not being there for your child at all.  Still, at least he gives a shit, so D-rank, but a low D.

Odin - I think he’s solid.  Honestly there’s nothing outstanding here, but I really like Odin as a person, so A-rank.

Laslow - Okay, so in the intro to her chapter, Laslow mentions that Soleil has a band for town watch, and that she should be in her Deeprealm but goes where she pleases.  Which implies he knows she’s in his world already.  So he’s already letting her do as she pleases.  He’s openly aware she’s bi (let’s be real, here) and is fully supportive (LEO).  He taught her some great mechanisms for coping with difficulties in her life, and helps her realize it’s okay to not be positive when it feels forced.  And when confronted with the reality that Soleil is way better than him at flirting with the ladies, instead of being an insecure prick about it, he’s like “Hell yeah, that’s my girl!”  S-rank, easy.

Niles - I hate Niles, but as far as parenting goes, he’s not the worst.  It’s not clear if he’s been to visit her much (sounds like a no), but he at least has clear care for her.  He does try to emphasize to her what kind of life he’s had and that he doesn’t want her to have to live like that too, so I do appreciate that angle for him.  B-rank.

And that’s everyone.  There are some decent parents in all this.   The only real failures are Leo and Azama.  I think Azama’s a bit worse based on not showing any inclination to change or any particular care about his child, while Leo at least learns something and grows from it.  Though Leo’s issues are such a problem for me.  I think Laslow’s the best, though Kaze and Benny were also really great.

Shame about the Baby Realm thing, though.  That whole idea was just so stupid...

Corrin is like THE epitome of twink to me so while I also just enjoy him as he is, I also like both directions of the growth spectrum with him.

Corrin moves thing with such an ease that even ten grown men would struggle with, Corrin not even thinking anything of it until people stare at him

His retainers don't even have to worry about anyone hurting Corrin, instead they have to worry about Corrin accidentally hurting himself

Okay SO. Saizo is one of the most intensely jealous characters in the game. He even gets jealous of Yukimura:

I’ll put the rest under a cut for length purposes….this is LONG [seriously] and also mild spoilers for event stories to (hopefully) come…

AND LET’S NOT FORGET 

Obviously, he is pissed but not going to hurt Yukimura in any way. I think in a lot of ways he turns his jealous feelings into teasing/poking fun at the person he is jealous of. It’s his defense mechanism and he likes to push their buttons or make them look like a complete idiot in order to ease his anxieties and make himself feel better. 

We know his jealousy goes far enough that in canon he keeps MC from screaming during sex so Yukimura does not hear it, and he also has been known to keep Yukimura and Chibi Sasuke busy in order to not be interrupted with MC. 

Saizo literally gives ZERO FUCKS about what is going on around them when it comes to MC and his jealousy. He’ll ruin anything, he’ll stop anything, he’ll make the biggest fucking scene. We saw it in his route when he swiped her up from the faux wedding. There’s another event upcoming, in which MC is chosen for a lead part in a performance (in which she must kiss the male lead). At first, the male lead chosen is Yukimura, and Saizo seems to not care one bit, he doesn’t seem threatened. And I mean, Yukimura is his bestie and he trusts him so that makes sense, it’s a play kiss with no meaning. However, Yukimura gets sick and the part lands on Sasuke (BIG ninja Sasuke, not chibi). Saizo. Is. Pissed.  He literally jumps on the stage and ruins the whole fucking things by stealing MC and running away before they can kiss because he won’t allow it. 

Now, these are all “friendly” encounters with jealousy. However. I think Saizo has a very dark side to how possessive he can be when it comes to MC. 

We’ve seen in canon him mentioning several times that he will kill men if they try to see her intimately. In an upcoming ES we see just how pissy Saizo can get when he gets jealous of someone who ISN’T a friendly threat but a random stranger. MC volunteers to help at a nearby school but the teacher ends up being a real creepo. Saizo knows it right away but MC doesn’t listen or understand and continues to go there despite the fact that she is starting to receive letters from an unknown stalker. Saizo goes into freak-out mode and keeps watch of her from a distance 24/7. He shows up at the school purposefully to send a message to the guy, and the moment he DOES end up making a move, Saizo reveals himself AND HIS SWORD. 

Saizo may be the kind-hearted softie when it comes to MC and Yukkins, but the cold and calculating, unflinching Saizo is still very much a part of him. He has no qualms with murder and death, and since he holds all of like 3 people dear to him, he will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. 

SO, what sets his jealousy/possessiveness off the most? 

When someone has known MC longer than he has/someone who appears to be very close with MC. Saizo may have met MC long ago but he wasn’t able to be by her side and he’s pretty self-conscious about that fact. He doesn’t like it when someone tries to show they know her more intimately than he does. 

MC talking about other men, ESPECIALLY when they’re in bed together or have alone time. It’s few and far between they get quiet moments together so the last thing he wants to hear is about another guy no matter the context. 

MC not listening when he tries to warn her about someone or tell her not to do something. He’s got a sixth sense for trash people and he’s usually pretty easy going, so when he tells you to stay away from someone its for a good reason. Not to mention the fact that it’s hurtful to have your S/O ignore your advice in order to spend time with someone else. 

Anxiety after almost dying or losing MC. 

Of course, there are lots of other reasons, but I think these are the most prevalent, the ones that will actually get a huge rise out of Saizo. As far as other random jealousy/possessive HC’s, Dare I say……yandere???: 

Absolutely keeps tabs on you like at all times. If it’s not him himself(which it usually is) he sends Kiyohiro to watch and report back. If he even so much as WHIFFS someone is being creepy towards you he is ending that shit right away. 

How he takes care of them depends on the level of creep. And maybe how he’s feeling that day. If they can be scared off easily he could simply drop into their room in the dead of night, wake them up with a blade to the throat, “shhh, quiet now or I may just slip.” Perhaps he slips something into their evening tea and carries their unconscious body to the nearest cliff or into the woods. Maybe he writes a “love letter” in MC’s hand and lures them to a remote area, sword ready and Utsusemi ready to gobble some plucked eyes. Either way, MC will be none the wiser. 

“Hm? The grocer disappeared? That is strange…so what’s for dinner, little lady?” 

Has no qualms being vocal about his jealousy (most of the time). If it strikes his nerve just right he’ll come out and say he doesn’t like XYZ and wants you to stop. Other times, you have to pay attention to when he is being bitchy and distant. 

If he could, he’d keep you locked away all to himself. He has real issues with love/ownership/things because of his childhood. He’s never known how to have things, especially not precious things. So how does he control himself? He knows it’s not right to keep you locked away, so instead, he controls what he can keep to himself. Your ears showing, your skin showing, your dango, your blush/pleasured expressions, your moans. He doesn’t want anyone else experiencing this stuff of yours. 

That being said, he WOULD 100% lock you the fuck up if you were down for it. He’d get you a pretty little ribbon to tie around your neck and a comfortable room with things to keep you occupied, he’d bring you your meals and feed you, he’d bathe you, he’d tie you up sometimes when he was feeling extra anxious. 

On the off-chance someone actually did hurt you, its game over. It doesn’t matter if they had their hands on you, they left a small wound/mark, or something worse–they’re dead. Saizo will go into autopilot and obliterate the person. Bloodbath. 

In his efforts to keep you safe, he sometimes loses his sense of what is right and wrong with control. At his worst, he WILL refuse to allow you to leave his sight. By any means necessary. 

Blocking exits. Tieing you up (he knows the best and most efficient ways to immobilize you in seconds). Drugging you (such as putting you to sleep). 

When he’s feeling extra insecure he’ll claim you for himself. Tear your clothes off and tease you until you admit he’s the only one you love. He’ll make you say his name over and over again, and hearing it will ease his worries. He may even be inclined to break his own rules and let someone hear him fucking you so they know you belong to him. 

If you’re out in public and he starts to get jealous, he’ll pull you roughly into a dark secluded corner or onto a rooftop and tease you, pull at your collar and grip your face so you can’t look away from his intense expression

“Keep this up little lady, and I’m going to have to punish you.” He nips at your exposed clavicle. “Or…was that what you were hoping for all along?” 

Out of spite and pure jealousy he would 10/10 fuck you in a space such as a person’s bedroom or work, or with an item of that person’s. A way to get back at them and know he’s claimed you there or while you were wearing that (like fucking you on top of someone’s haori or with a hairpin they gave you in your hair before he gave it back to them) and they will never know. 

Has NO PROBLEMS talking about having sex with you. As long as they don’t see you its chill. He will let it out that he just had your legs spread 10 minutes ago and smile. He’ll go into detail. Especially when someone is trying to intimidate him over you. 

“Sorry, she won’t be able to meet you tomorrow like she promised. She’ll be quite sore…if you get what I mean. She looks quite sweet and docile but don’t let that fool you, she’s a different person when the lights are off. It’s no myth some women are wild in bed when you least expect it. Some night she asks for it so many times I have to wake up and check for bruises ^^ well, anyway, look at me going on when I’m sure with a face like that all of this is completely foreign to you. Don’t be discouraged, someone always has to be the late bloomer on the branch, hm?”

Definitely has a mental list of all of the people he’s threatened or killed over you 

Sometimes Kiyohiro has to step in and warn people to GTFO and leave before Saizo ends up murdering them 

Has had the urge to kill Inuchiyo more than once LOL 

Sometimes uses his Kotodama when he’s jealous. 

Maybe it’s during an interrogation of the person trying to steal you from him or harm you. If they deny, he’ll use his power to get them to confess the truth before torturing them. Maybe they lose an appendage for every time they lied or stalked MC. 

He’ll use it to keep you near him, keep you still, after your life was threatened. He needs time to look over your body, check for injuries, make sure you’re okay and tell you how much each finger and tear mean the world to him. 

HATES WHEN OTHER MEN TOUCH YOU. It disgusts him if they had ill intentions and he hates to think that you had to endure that. He’ll order you to strip and ask you where they touched you. He’ll wash the areas himself and caress you with his hands. He’ll whisper in your ear how you belong to him, and kiss over the areas until his anxieties disappear and he feels like he can no longer smell them or feel their energy. He’ll dispose of what you were wearing in an effort to rid you both of the memory completely.

I’m keeping this to SLBP, because there are far too many trashbois that I adore in so many fandoms, and ya’ll don’t have that kinda time. 1. Kirigakure Saizo This motherfucker I swear to god. Has basically ruined me with both his “I’m gonn’ fuck you up” smirk and also his soft side, so there’s that...

2. Date Shigezane Purest babe, will always fight your corner and celebrate you no matter who you’re romancing. Would always romance 100%. Also has solid arm game.

3. Date Masamune Another pureboi Date. Awkward and kind, cares a lot about stuff but finds it hard to show it and basically deserves a LOT more love. Also extra points for being an animal person. 4. Mitsuba Kaede URGH BEST BABE I STG. EVERY ASPECT OF THIS PERSON. I love, I cherish, I stan. Have spent every pearl I have on stories, items, EVERYTHING.  I need more. 10/10 would bankrupt self for. 5. Nobuyuki thought(s) that i had

This isn’t so much of an attempt to explain or Rationalize of Buyan’s means of expressing his yandere - it’s really more like a thought or consideration on things tying TO it and potentially something that, were I to write fanfic from his POV or angled around him as a character, I might...include or note upon at an appropriate point.

SO.

Buyan is the Sanada clan heir. He is utterly devoted to his clan and his duties as heir - that has never been in question; he is responsible, he is trusted implicitly (by the Sanada and from the looks of it, by those in Ueda/at least the city (town?)) around the castle, and honestly, he’s adored - again by his clan and the others mentioned. Saizo is an exception insofar as adoration/etc, but he does seem to trust in the fact (at least) that Nobuyuki IS wholly dedicated to the Sanada and the clan’s well-being/future/etc.

I do not know how much background is given in other Sanada-related LI routes, but for certain in Buyan’s, it goes into his history/growing up, etc. 

At least...partially, as Buyan himself only reveals so much - some of those details, imo, are important! But ever the mysterious angel-faced manipulator, he almost always smoothly glides the conversation back to MC herself. Leaving MC up to learning from everyone around her + Buyan to inform her and fill her in - even Masayuki himself!

But the overall gist is that Nobuyuki’s life is not his own. His life is for the Sanada, he must live for them - both figuratively AND literally. It’s part of the final confrontation in his route - he must live, no matter the cost, as he is the one who will ensure the Sanada’s survival (and potential rebuilding and/or expansion, even) regardless of what happens to Yukimura and Masayuki.

As such, his life is planned out more or less from the beginning. Now, due to his temperament (likely how he’s been raised helps too, I’m sure, but his temperament is DEFINITELY suited to his role as clan heir), he has accepted this - his role, his duties, his Purpose...there’s no plot point in his route for him trying to shuck the role nor does MC try to convince him to live for himself, etc. 

Again, being clan heir suits him - he is a natural charmer, manipulation requires some practice but he’s clearly already a Master, as well as a tactician and, well, he’s fucking smart. No if and or buts about it.

The closest to anything approaching a negative is the weight of having to stay behind, unknowing of his brother, his father - the people important to him - until he gets news of them/they arrive home. And that IS hard. Yukimura is a brilliant warrior but he’s not invincible and he is the Warrior between the two of them. Buyan can clearly hold his own in a fight, he’s still a samurai after all, but again. Heir, not the Warrior.

Which, again, is said a number of times in his route & I wouldn’t doubt more than once in Yukkins’s own route, take just this scene for example:

All of this rambling leads me to my main thought regarding his behavior towards MC in his route/previous ES/etc featuring him + MC; Nobuyuki’s life, purpose, existence...is the Sanada clan’s. His childhood wasn’t even his because after his & Yuki’s mother died, atop being heir, he more or less took over raising + tending to Yukimura as well (and in his subtle ways, continues to do so SOBS).

And just as his life is his clan’s, the clan has placed the entirety of their trust in his hands (not simply bc he is heir, he is a DAMN sharp man and brilliant politician, truly) and his decisions, thus, are taken more or less at face value. And because of this trust placed in him, his father has thus allowed Buyan to actually choose his own wife, rather than numerous attempts at arranging marriages/etc. 

Very impressive indeed.

It is a duty, of course, but one that Masayuki (and the clan) trust him to fill & trusts in his choice of a bride with essentially little to no questioning. Even as Masayuki knows about his son’s...occasional “eccentric behavior” and his strict list of necessary Sanada Bride qualifications. Buyan is, apparently, allowed to be as picky as he chooses.

Regardless of his son’s eccentricities, I have little reason to doubt that Masayuki has been one if the biggest (as Nobuyuki was older than Yukimura when their mother died, so she would have had time to influence/leave impressions on him herself) factors in Nobuyuki’s education, in all his duties as heir, not to mention implementing values upon Buyan - especially IN regards to marriage and finding a wife. 

This brings up questions that I have little time for, as analyzing Masayuki is not the point of this post. 

Instead, I would like to point out this particular piece of advice from Nobuyuki’s route and how it rings true to me in regards to his relationship with MC, regardless of his dangerously subtle yandere mentality:

Nobuyuki wants to know everything there is about MC. As suited to his subtle yandere ways, he will manipulate her and ensure that she comes to him to more or less reaffirm (to him, in his mind) that she does, in fact, want him. And that she loves him. 

He doesn’t not force or coerce these affirmations (I call these as such bc yandere-types frequently tend to need Affirmations from their Beloved to appease their obsession/possessiveness/insecurities/etc etc etc and while not blatant in this way, Buyan does seem to have at least a Smidge - even if it’s mostly for his), but instead sets up a strategic stage (arguably something of a game) that instead ensures MC comes to him herself and  As demonstrated in his thoughts from his Draughts of Starlight ES:

Of course, there’ve been times where Buyan is caught off guard by things MC does, be it unexpected demonstrations of kindness/affection, making him his favorite dessert without her even knowing it is his favorite, her resilience & matching his own force of will when directly confronting him, etc etc etc. 

His reactions tend towards being surprised and then shifting to fascination and either amusement & often at least a level of curiosity OR as we do get to see, strong urges of affection. And when he shows that affection, boy, it is like unleashing a tidal wave. His feelings are next level Intense and his expression of them is no different.

Holy fuck, this is probably just vague tangents vaguely related to the entire reason I started this post in the first place at this point. Let’s get TO what I could have said in fewer words.

THOUGH, a quick addendum - regardless of his choice in wife, since whoever he chooses as his wife will meet those requirements of his (some exceptions, like noble lineage, are excused like in the Draughts ES because MC is Perfect in Every Way otherwise, and I assume the same goes for MC in his own route), she will thus be ideal and him, being the gentle yandere he is, would not want to let her go. Or for her to escape. The classic most example in Yukimura’s...route? (I’m fairly sure this is) in response to Saizo calling [Nobuyuki] his [future] wife’s [prison] Warden:

ALL of these various...points...I’ve touched upon, IN MY OPINION, all point to a likely...thought process? behind Buyan’s attitude towards his MC. The MC, his bride...

And it is in your best interest to NOT forget that she is his. Even you, Yukkins, cannot afford to pose a threat to your beloved brother in this regard:

A person who was to fulfill yet another duty of his to his clan, a theoretical woman that was - regardless of even being his ideal bride - ultimately, intrinsically, merely part of one of the numerous obligations that were expected of him as heir...Well, back to his ES again (I had more screenshots myself to use as well but I spilled coffee on my laptop and now it’s drying SOB) to let Buyan say it himself:

...turns out to be what/who he regards as The Greatest Blessing of his life. 

And not just randomly or by chance either. HE chose her himself, for himself, of his own volition. Somehow, within the contract - as he refers to it - of his life, one of the few things he could, in fact, choose for himself...brings him utter satisfaction. He’s not pleased, he feels blessed by this choice he made - taking a chance with a young woman who captured his fascination and hit essentially all his switches. Risky? Certainly.

But a risk he was willing to take and the payoff was more than even this angel-faced mastermind could have anticipated.

This boils down to, essentially, the fucking thought I had in the first place in regards to some contemplative insight into Buyan’s POV/Buyan focused perspective regarding his route’s MC. Let’s do a quick summary:

Nobuyuki is the clan heir, he was born into it, bound by the obligation, and was settled into his role very neatly.

Nobuyuki is allowed to make decisions for the Sanada as he is trusted by his clan & family.

Nobuyuki is trusted with these decisions and has the clan’s trust because he has obviously proven over the years, after getting involved in the duties as clan heir and future clan head, that his choices are those that will most benefit the clan.

Nobuyuki’s choices will always most benefit the clan, they must, and so while he has access to a wide variety of means to accomplish what must be done and he is allowed to make any choice (often without any explanation of what he did, or why he did, required of him), he ultimately is bound by the duty + obligation that whichever choice he makes, it is always for the clan’s greatest benefit.

Thus he is allowed to choose his own wife, so long as she is a suitable addition to the Sanada clan...and she meets his Must Haves list.

MC doesn’t have wealth, isn’t of a noble lineage, nor does she bring in any sort of plentiful dowry...But that is 1 miss versus hitting every. other. requirement. on Nobyuki’s Wifey Must Haves list.

Even before meeting her, he’s already decided that - once he has all the information on her collected (I’ll give him credit, he DID initially think this “interesting new retainer” of Shingen’s was a Uesugi spy so it’s not like he was just...randomly choosing young women to look into) - her actions demonstrate her courage and she might be just what he needs. For a few things. Jinpachi may have well confirmed or denied this since he’s been keeping an eye on MC for Nobuyuki until he got there.

Once he’s made his decision, he will stick to it because it would be a waste of (multiple) opportunities.

He didn’t think, of course, that he might catch Feelings (his ES also shares this in common), but really, when does anyone?

Insert drama.

In the end, he is able to have/keep the woman he’d chosen and she loves him and accepts him for who he is. According to her. Granted she sees him as more mischevious than dangerous, BUT, when you love a yandere wholeheartedly and they love you, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the overall perception???

They’ll be married, soon, and according to Buyan, he wants to be married a-fucking-sap. Enthusiasm? Honestly, I’m sure he does feel that. Officially binding the two of them together? Most certainly plays a part, too.

And thus: Nobuyuki loves MC and she loves him. He will do anything & everything he can to make her happy regardless that his foremost obligation is to prioritize his clan above all else.

He will ensure that she is so happy, so enraptured, SO in love with him...that her thoughts will be saturated with little else BUT him (he goes so far as to label this desire of his as a need of his). MC will NOT end up dissatisfied with him, she will NOT feel neglected feeling due to his duties...and as for him?

His bride. His wife [to-be]. His MC (he does refer to MC as his [MC’s name] in the Divine end. Divine end epilogue? UGH IF ONLY I HAD MY SCREENSHOTS). The woman he chose to fulfill one of the (few) obligations that he had (arguably) the most control over...is everything he could have expected. Even, dare I say, hoped for. 

MC bypassed Nobuyuki’s Very High and Specific Requirements and captured his heart utterly. Just as he’s captured her and her heart.

Regardless of some short-term surprise on his clan/father’s behalf, they all accept his explanation that she is exactly what the Sanada clan needs. And his clan does, in fact, fall in love with her. His father approves of her, regardless of her common birth, and Yukimura is SO enthusiastic about the two of them and is so happy for his brother - for the both of them.

B: Dwyer and Mitama come across the wounded and fight over who gets to heal them.

A: Dwyer wakes Mitama up so she can heal the wounded. Afterwards, he gives her a quilt he sewed covered in her haikus.

S: Mitama mumbles Dwyer's name in her sleep. Dwyer invites her to share his bunk bed. Review: They have a good dynamic, but the Support is a bit shallow.

Support: Ignatius/Sophie

C: Sophie freaks out because there's a bug on her back. Ignatius is too scared to help her.

B: Sophie carries a heavy pot of hot soup and spills it everywhere. Sophie assumes Ingatius is mad because he has a resting bitch face.

A: Sophie takes away a caterpillar on Ignatius's back. She explains that he doesn't show his emotions, but feels things deeply.

S: Ignatius asks her out.

Review: Not awful, but a bit all over the place.

Support: Asugi/Midori

C: Midori finds an herb, which reminds her of Saizo and Kaze arguing over how to apply it. Asugi calls them children, because he and Midori get along great. The two of them then bicker over whether or not Midori will give him a sugary vitamin tonic he likes.

B: Asugi vomits up his liver, after overdosing on sugary vitamin tonic. Funny line: Midori says Saizo should have taught him better and Asugi says Saizo should have done a lot of things better.

A: Midori makes candy so Asugi will eat that instead. Her candy is terrible, but Asugi appreciates it.

S: Asugi gives Midori a ring pop and asks her to be close with him forever, because Dan Harmon is Intelligent Systems's main writer.

Review: Asugi vomiting up his liver is funny. Other than that this one's fine.

Support: Rhajat/Shiro

C: Shiro eats some chicken. This disgusts Rhajat.

B: Shiro offers Rhajat meat to eat. She curses him.

A: The curse gives Shiro a cold. Shiro tries to apologize by giving Rhajat fried meat and veggies, because he's really, really, really fucking stupid. Shiro explains he keeps offering meat because he wants Rhajat to be strong. Rhajat lifts the curse and eats the meat. She then, presumably, gets sick, because eating meat after not doing so for years will fuck you up.

S: Shiro explains he kept offering meat as an excuse to hang out with Rhajat. As previously mentioned, I hate when they do this.

Review: God, Shiro just cannot take a hint.

Support: Forrest/Kiragi

C: Forrest tells Kiragi his torn clothes and messy hair from hunting aren't proper for a prince.

B: Kiragi drags Forrest hunting. Forrest is annoyed by getting up early, horrified by Kiragi shooting a bunny, and almost drowns while fishing. Then he hits a chicken and an army of chickens show up and attack him. Like Cuckos from Zelda. Cuckos canonically exist in Fire Emblem. Ultimately, they watch the pretty sunrise together.

A: Forrest makes functional but stylish leather clothes for Kiragi to go hunting in.

Review: Not bad. Forrest getting humiliated, but learning from it, is a good arc for a Support.

Support: Asugi/Caeldori

C: Caeldori scowls at Asugi because he wears dirty clothes. She threatens to write him up for insubordination, implying that she outranks him and also that this game has a formal military hierarchy.

B: Asugi makes a massive mess in the kitchen while baking a cake. Caeldori is mad, until she tastes the cake.

A: Caeldori considers banning Asugi from the kitchen, but his cakes are so good she instead decides to stick close to him and clean up the messes he makes. Asugi decides to just clean on his own.

S: Asugi gives Caeldori heart shaped candy, which tastes mediocre. They get together and Caeldori lectures him about cleanliness.

Review: Caeldori acts weirdly assertive in this one. I don't actually dislike it; her and Asugi bounce off each other pretty well.

Support: Ignatius/Percy

C: Percy, having heard Ignatius is the bravest warrior in the army, asks him to coach him how to be so brave. Ignatius explains he isn't brave, but Percy assumes he's being humble.

B: Percy tries to train by jumping over fire and throwing rocks at beehives. Ignatius explains these are bad ideas. Percy spots a bear cub about to get stung by bees. Ignatius says to run, but Percy dashes in to save the cub.

A: Ignatius says he cannot train Percy, because Percy is braver than he is, proven by risking himself to save the cub. Ignatius explains he's terrified in battle. Percy says that makes him braver.

Review: Really good! Percy acts brave and selfless, while Ingatius acts as the voice of reason.

Support: Mitama/Siegbert

C: Mitama asks Siegbert why people fight wars and kill each other if everyone hates war. Siegbert can't come up with an answer, but I can. Because the evil dragon god from beneath the earth mind controls kings into invading neighboring countries.

B: Siegbert asks why Mitama fights. Mitama says deserting would be too much effort, so fighting is the path of least resistance. Siegbert calls her a victim of fate. Mitama says they're all victims of fate. I've read hundreds of Support conversations, making me a victim of Fates.

A: Siegbert says he fights for his friends and kingdom. He explains that others fight for money or honor or family, and that there is not a single cause for war. Other than Anankos. Siegbert and Mitama decide that ending the war is a cause worth fighting for.

S: Siegbert wakes Mitama up to tell her he likes her. She goes back to bed and dreams about him.

Review: Snark aside, this is an excellent Support. It delves into the game's oft forgotten themes of the pointlessness of war, while giving solid characterization for Siegbert and Mitama while they grapple with that question.

Support: Nina/Soleil

C: Nina oggles guys while Soleil oggles girls.

B: They argue about whose sexuality is better.

A: They agree to disagree and acknowledge they're the same kind of person.

Review: This one was nothing.

Support: Mana/Velouria

C: Velouria eats food off the floor. Kana tells her that'll make her sick. Velouria insists she likes floor food more.

B: Velouria eats a mud-covered apple off the ground. A stick in the apple stabs her in the mouth. Kana says he told her so.

A: Velouria starts carrying a canteen and knife to clean the fruit she forages. Shouldn't she, a soldier, have already have a canteen and knife? Velouria says she will continue to eat floor from the ground because cleaning it takes away the flavor. Kana offers to help her judge what is safe to eat.

S: Kana suggests cooking foraged food. Velouria says she likes raw food, but agrees to eat it if Kana cooks it. Kana says he has a crush on Velouria. She says he's like a little brother to her. They still get married, because being like a little brother is the hottest thing to Fates ladies.

Review: Kana is weirdly the voice of reason, but this one is fine I guess. Velouria eating floor food is dumb but believable.

while it's been 3 months since the ending, the arcadia and everyone who went with them actually come right after the ending because the space warp pooped them out at the edge of the solar system 3 months later. nobody is amused

because of the holes in everyone's memories, lottie tricks velt into thinking they're dating by claiming he forgot they were; souji and chitose let it slide because to quote: "they need this for their relationship to develop"

despite both of nine’s bodies being the same nine, meryl insists that she show up on the carriax with both because "having two cute girls around is better than one". nine instantly starts blushing

sagiri almost gets nine to fall for her (and maybe chitose too)

amari gets sick of iori and hopespero bickering with each other and straight up threatens to kick them both out of the xelguard

rami, nine, and hopespero immediately form a subpilot gang but nine and hopespero proceed to get right into an argument

sagiri brings up amari still being young and having that youthful vigor™ when trying to raise her spirits and goes *pikachu surprised face* when amari perks up and is like "you're right"

jamie thinks cybuster is beautiful and attempts to bargain with masaki for it; masaki gets hecking pissed

amari apparently doesn't get that hopespero is in love with her and watching it is physically painful for chitose

debonair tries to trick everyone into thinking she brought zagato, emeraulde, and nova back from the dead despite nova having fused back into hikaru, only for hikaru to call her a dirty liar who lies and break the illusion

dyma's secretary who seriously still doesn't have a name calls amasaki over to give T3 dyma's personal slush fund under the table (literally 5 million) because nobody knows where he got it or how much of it is actually his and how much was from vtx assets

she then asks sagiri out on a tea date and shockingly sagiri recognizes a woman attempting to flirt with her for once (apparently she also asks saizo out if he's the protagonist but i haven't seen it). the intermission then has the special section 3 girls realizing what's going on and rushing their work so they can cockblock the secretary

after nevanlinna and ende teleports your gang elsewhere and the stage ends on a cliffhanger, the intermission scene just has meryl and amies going :O before amasaki’s like “we don’t have time to gape, get back to work”

She’s spent endless hours in her study, surrounded by her mountains of books and papers. Strategies upon strategies. Many crumpled in a pile on the floor.

The landscape changed but Kiran remained constant.

She doesn’t sleep like she should. It’s not for lack of trying, but her eyes close and all she sees is her friends falling in battle and her strategies failing one after the other. And so, here she was. Wide awake yet another night with an exhaustion that was bone deep.

On nights like this, she remembers Greek mythology.

She thinks of Atlas.

She thinks how big he must be to carry all the sky on his shoulders, and how small she is for all the weight she felt on hers. She didn’t want to be pretentious. Atlas would laugh at how meager she was and how little her burden compared to his.

All she knew is one morning she woke with her hands shaking and they haven’t quite stopped yet. It was only when she looked for the sky that she found how her little fingers quaking under the heaviness.

Kiran shook her head. Her thoughts were all jumbled but she’s already tried sleeping.

Why was she chosen for this anyway? There were many heroes here that were better leaders and better tacticians. Any one of them could have answered the call of fate better than she could.

She looked down at her most recent strategy with a soft sigh. The plans she threw away and the plans that were passed to the battlefield. War would happen regardless but she couldn’t help feeling she was building it herself, page by page.

The war was painted on her hands, under her skin. Maybe that’s why her hands still shook.

Maybe that’s why battle was all she could see when she closed her eyes.

Kiran groaned in frustration, scrunching her face and rubbing her forehead. She wasn’t getting anywhere thinking like this. Being depressed about it wouldn’t stop anything from happening. She was here and she had a job to do.

“Another late night?”

The deep voice left Kiran jolted from her thoughts. Ryoma stood in the doorway with a deep frown etched on his face. His brows were furrowed in worry. Kiran grimaced and averted her gaze. “Ah...well…”

He didn’t wait for an answer before stepping inside. She knew that look. It was the same one that Alfonse had been wearing. Even Niles had peered at her that way at one point.

The days and nights had blurred together for her. If she wasn’t rushing about then the exhaustion set in. Her body wouldn’t let her rest. Not her aching heart or troubled dreams. Not even her shaking hands. Maybe it’s all crept deeper than she thought. No matter how she tried to pretend otherwise, that ache was part of her now.

The way his brows pinched at the sight of her. Could he see it too?

Ryoma was standing over her desk now, peering over the landscape of her desk and how meager she looked. His expression was hard to read, caught some place between heartbreak and determination.

“Kiran.”

His voice was deep and smooth. Even when he was scolding her, she couldn’t help relaxing just slightly at the sound. She breathed and hesitantly met his gaze. His eyes were soft like rich earth in the summertime. Had his presence always been this comforting? Or was she simply that tired now?

“You need to rest.”

It was good advice. She had told herself that before too and it didn’t work any better now. She swallowed and dropped her eyes back to her paperwork. She fidgeted. “I will.” She promised and lied in the same breath. “I just want to finish this first.”

He took the plan before she could distract herself with it, setting it to the side firmly. Kiran scowled at him in response. He only fixed her with a hard look.

“It can wait until tomorrow.” The smile he offered was supposed to be reassuring. “You can tackle it with a clear head after some sleep.”

Frustration dropped heavy in her stomach. He made it sound like she wasn’t even trying to sleep! Did he think she wanted to do this to herself? Drive herself to the edge and just crawl down, down, down into the pill that she’s ended up in?

She was so fucking tired! But the war was in her bones. And the world was on her shoulders. And if she gripped it too hard, she wondered if the sky would bruise purple under her shaking fingers.

Kiran reached for the paper but Ryoma set his hand over it. Clearly, this was not a request on his part. She glowered and sat back down. “I’m almost done with it. Just a few more minutes would be enough.”

Ryoma didn’t budge. Instead, he sighed and gave her that look again. “Kiran, why are you doing this to yourself?”

The words were soft and spoken gently. Kiran felt a crack somewhere in her chest. Her mouth trembled and again, she thought of Atlas. How big he was and how tiny she was. Kiran grimaced and couldn’t meet his eyes.

Ryoma touched her shoulder and turned her with a kind hand to face him. “Everyday, you look more tired and less like yourself. More than most, I understand the burdens of leadership but you can’t let it break you down like this.” He tilted her head up, brows still furrowed. “You owe that to them and you owe that to yourself.”

Her chest hurt. Kiran quivered under the weight of the world and her heart. “I can’t sleep.” Her voice, like the rest of her, was impossibly small. Her eyes burned. “I can’t stop thinking about what could happen to them if I even just make one mistake.”

The world she stood on must’ve had an ocean, because here it was crawling up her neck and over her head. She choked. Her fears spilled out of her mouth like the last bit of air that she had tried so hard to hold inside. There wasn’t a drop of water in that study.

But she already knew she didn’t need water to drown.

She was crumbling. Under the pressure of the ocean. Under the weight of the world. And Ryoma was right there as she fell to pieces like Atlantis under the sea.

“I just--I’m not enough.” 

She blurted, tears swimming in her vision. “I’m just some nobody back home and suddenly I’m a chosen summoner? Anyone--anyone here could have done all of this better than me.” Kiran wrapped her arms around her middle as if trying to hold the pieces of herself together. 

“I have no idea what I’m doing! People could get hurt--they could die! It would be all my fault because I’m not some great summoner. I’m just me and that’s not enough for any of this.”

She started shaking at one point. Her legs had buckled and Ryoma was left as the only thing in this world that was holding her up. Kiran sobbed and squeezed her eyes shut.

“I can’t stop thinking about it! My dreams are nothing but people dying and it all being all my fault!”

She pressed her face into his shoulder, and wondered when he had started hugging her like this. Kiran clung to him. “I just thought...maybe I could make up for it somehow. Maybe if I just kept working and if I was careful t-then I could make up for not being anything special, but look at where that’s got me. Saizo nearly got killed last week and I-I can’t keep up with any of this!”

She cried and cried into his shoulder. Ryoma held her together and said nothing of how her tears soaked his shirt.

It hurt to breathe when she finally wept every tear she had left, but it felt so long since she could breathe at all. Ryoma rubbed her back and the silence wrapped around them like a warm blanket.

“Have you truly carried all of that this whole time?” 

His voice sounded pained. Kiran didn’t have the energy to answer. Ryoma held her tighter, cheek pressed to the top of her head.

“Some among us have greatness thrust upon us.” He muttered, stroking her hair. He sighed and held her head, tilting her away just enough for her to meet his eyes. His gaze was firm and full of certainty.

“Kiran. You have always been enough.” 

The conviction he spoke with made her almost believe him. He leaned his forehead against hers. “I know that fear. I’ve felt it at the back of my mind in every battle I’ve lead.”

Kiran sniffled. “How do you keep going?”

“I trust.” 

He smiled and it felt like she was seeing the sun for the first time. “You’re not in this alone. The weight of the world doesn’t fall solely to you. Just as you are working your hardest studying and planning, every warrior who goes to battle trains and puts everything into the fight.”

He kissed her forehead and whispered. “You just need to trust. In them. And in yourself.” Kiran closed her eyes and marveled how the weight lifted off her shoulders.

She thought of Atlas again.

What did it feel like for Hercules to lift the sky off his shoulder even for just a bit? The world wasn’t hers to carry alone. She wondered if it felt like this. Like seeing the sun after so long in the dark. Like breathing again. Like breaking to pieces and trying not to cry when another pair of hands helps pick you back up again.

Kiran leaned against his chest and just breathed. Ryoma smiled. “Here. Let me put all these nightmares to rest.” He cradled her and Kiran was too tired to think anything of it.

“Close your eyes and empty your mind.” 

Kiran huffed but did as told. He waited as the room fell silent and her breath slowed. “Envision a relaxing place.” He smiled to himself as he watched her expression relax. The tension she so tightly clung to had finally eased off.

Carefully, he got to his feet with the little summoner cradled in his arms like a bride. He continued muttering softly in her ear. “I am thinking of Hoshido—cherry- blossom trees in bloom...rain in the gardens...a moon on the wane.” Ryoma closed his eyes at the fond memories and he smiled to himself as he left the study for the night with Kiran in tow.

“I must admit that when I've been meditating of late, I have also envisioned something new.” He stepped down the hall, taking the familiar path to the summoners room. 

“Places from this realm...the faces of members in the Order of Heroes...and, most of all... I see you, standing on the battlefield.” At this, he offered Kiran’s sleeping form a faint smile. “That image lets me achieve inner balance like no other. I hope that you would feel just the same from my presence here.”

He found her room and brought her to her bed. Ryoma eased her shoes from her feet and her cloak from her shoulders.

She was the picture of peace nestled in her bed with all the nightmares gone. He lingered longer than necessary and brushed her hair back.

“Sleep well.” He spoke with more affection than he’d usually allow, but weren’t they both owed their own vulnerability tonight?

He kissed her forehead one last time and let her rest.

So now that Taguel!Laslow is a thing on this blog now let's talk about it.

Mister Anakos changes everyone's appearance and gives Inigo real pants and he kind of freaks out for a while, wondering what his mother would say and how his brother would react or how mom would react or how Lon'qu would react or how Basilio would

Laslow and Selena are briefly engaged before she once and for all confirms that she's a fuckin Lesbian for real. But uh. Oops. Soleil appears, and she's a fuckin Bunny. So a lot of their friends aren't allowed to meet her because they didn't know how to explain it without spilling all of the beans.

So KeaSaizLow is fucking real, and Las HAS to tell them that he is a bun and his daughter is also a bun. He takes them to Soleil's deeprealm while she's still kind of young and Keaton is like "oh shit Velouria's going to love her new big sister so good damn much, she is the dust bunny" and Saizo immediately loves his new Bunny Step Daughter. Eventually all three kiddos are brought together to live together and become true siblings. Asugi makes bunny shaped lolly pops and is like "look it's you" and Soleil makes a disaster and is like "look it's you".

Anyway, SOMETHING. happens. The trio get their makeovers undone. Odin and Selena don't have too much to explain. Hair color and birthmarks that can be easily hidden? Not too big a deal. Uhhh, being an entire fucking rabbit? Harder to explain.

Xander is a lil pissed because he thought he and Laslow were close enough to tell each other everything but Laslow didn't trust him enough to tell him something like this. He gets over it soon enough because he understands it's not exactly easy to show up and be like " hey I'm a beast skin that doesn't even exist in this timeline" or whatever they told everyone to avoid the beans being spilled.

Laslow is scared that Saizo and Keaton won't like real him but they very much love his new look and now that he's his real self they get closer. Saizo especially loves messing with Laslow's ears, because they are cute and floppy. He loves his bunny husband.

Lady Corrin accuses Saizo of being a furry because of who he's in a relationship with and Saizo has no idea what that even means.

Kaden touches Laslow's butt fluff and Laslow screams for a thousand years. They do share grooming techniques though.
