Adam: I would make a great house husband.

Angel: A what?

Adam: A house husband! Ya know like a house wife but like... a guy.

Angel: That feels... mildly sexist.

Adam: No, no listen to me. I know how to cook, I clean, I know how to keep a whole a farm alive and I can decently, raise kids.

Adam: Lucifer!

Lucifer: Huh? What?

Lucifer grins and shifts so hes sitting properly on Adams lap, one hand grabs Adams wrist and pushes it against the side of the bed while his other grabs one of Adams horns and yanks his face to meet his, game controller forgotten in Adams free hand.

Lucifer: You offering?

Angel bursts out into laughter as Adam turns beet red.

i'm running late on getting this out, but i'm still reeling over the results of the @kirbyoctournament! i can't quite believe that starstruck- my pint sized waddle dee- made it all the way to the tippy-top against such intense competition. the roster was full of such an incredible selection of wonderful, loveable, and creative characters!

it's heart-warming to know that people out there really love my little wanya and her story, and i'll carry that with me always! 🥰💖

i am so grateful to everybody who voted for and supported starstruck (and i!) throughout the tournament, and i'd also like to give my thanks to everybody- moderators, participants, spectators- who made this community event as cool and fun as it was!! i met many new people and learned about so many wonderful new characters!

this piece in particular is dedicated to and features all of starstruck's competitors in the tourney, starting with jakkle doo from round one, right up to valfrey in the final round. it was a fantastic honour to compete against all of your OCs, and i look forward to hopefully seeing them around plenty more in the future!!

the opening verse makes reference to leaving one's job and how "it's sad to say, you will romanticise all the things you've known before. it was not, not, not so great". according to flansburgh, "the lyric revolves around the idea that looking back on anything colors it in sentimentality".

❌ "I'll sink manhattan" - they'll need a crane (ep)/miscellaneous T

this is a flansburgh song, but linnell explained its meaning in a 1989 interview with NME as "a song about a guy who somehow figures out how to sink the island of manhattan just to kill his ex-lover, so it's his apology to the other people he's gonna kill in between. he's just gotta do it!"

❌ "meet james ensor" - john henry

it's about james ensor (belgium's famous painter).

❌ "wicked little critta" - mink car

from the tmbg unlimited collection: "forged in the crucible of an eastern massachusetts junior high, this song expresses the dreams, fears and hopes of a new england young adult" the lyrics seem to suggest said young adult fantasising about being a sports star alongside bobby orr and john havlicek while goofing off outside.

❌ "working undercover for the man" - mink car

from flansburgh: "it's more a meditation on the "mod squad" [a 1968 crime series about cool undercover detectives] than anything else. the idea of the narc just seems... like, those episodes of "dragnet" where they have the young undercover dress in a hippie suit."

✔️ "talent is an asset" - kimono my house

the lyrics illustrate an overly-cautious family shielding their very gifted child from others, to keep him studious and soak in all the glory, and is heavily implied to be little albert einstein through puns on relatives and relativity. it's not by them, tho. it's by the band sparks. it came 2nd, so I think many of you recognised it (or really wanted to see the results!)

❌ "bee of the bird of the moth" - the else

"this is a song about a creature called a hummingbird moth, which imitates another creature, which imitates yet another creature. it's completely fucked up, and can only be explained in song!" so they did.

❌ "2082" - join us

thewrap's review of the album describes this song as, "a science-fiction short story (...) a protagonist who travels into the future, finds himself hobbled but still unhappily alive all the way into the next millennium, and travels back to the title year to smother himself with a pillow in a mercy killing". fun!

❌ "call you mom" - nanobots

referred to by linnell as an "oedipus pan" song, the lyrics follow an unfortunate young man beginning a relationship with a woman, getting dumped due to his behaviour of treating her like a mother figure, then infantilising a possibly younger woman in a different relationship and in turn leaving her, who goes on to experience the same issues. fun! (altho, the final chorus actually still refers to her Mom leaving, not her dad, I got the details wrong there in the poll).

❌ "gudetama's busy days" - dial-a-song / my murdered remains

yes, that's a real song. quote flansburgh: "(...) it is really just about feeling isolated from the world, even if you are in a crowded place and manically trying to keep up with your life. the character of gudetama appealed to me because he is such a mopey sad sack."

❌ "marty beller mask" - album raises new and troubling questions

this is real, too! it's just about how marty beller was actually an alter ego of whitney houston the whole time. he's not, but wouldn't that be interesting. the song name-checks multiple of her own in the lyrics. it was temporarily retired out of respect following houston's death (4 months after its release), returning to live performances ten years later in 2022.

I just saw someone say "people talk about media literacy as a shield for criticism for their favorite media." And I'd like to beg to differ. You can not like something and find something wrong in all sense of the word but when I talk about media literacy being dead its because people will enjoy the same shit and hate on others for consuming it "wrong." People will enjoy Sangwoo and have "proship dni" in their bios and I'm just like "oh so you like the serial killer, rapist, abuser in a god honouring way." I'm talking about those who watch Hannibal and will say that hannigram isn't problematic because it's not pedophilia or incest and I just stare into space because how when and where did those only mean problematic. I'm talking about those who will watch media and LITERALLY HARASS the voice actor of a terrible character or cosplayers who cosplay them (this happened recently) and think they're in the right because they play/dressed up as someone bad.

Anyways let people enjoy what they want and you can hate it and spread why you do but don't fucking harass people who enjoy it. It's as simple as fucking that. I miss when that was just fandom common sense. I also wish people would stop saying niche media is normalizing things like pedophilia and incest when GRRM writes it in most of his BEST SELLING books and you've never seen a rise in either so please hop off. My Opinions:

They could be sprinkling all these Single SSRs all over the place and totally catch us up on reruns. In fact it would make way more sense as it would force new players or people who didn't finish into a bind of spending or skipping. I just literally don't understand from a business standpoint why they'd just NOT rerun them. This ain't even a 2 reruns waiting for the special return pavilion situation. They haven't even gotten that far. Anyway it's frustrating me because I'm missing pieces from 5/8 of the singles from that year and I want to finish them 🙃 I'm so close on most of them.

Fucking thank you everytime someone ignores how Ted’s whole character is about his relationship with women an angel loses its wings. He won’t shut up about girls and thats ok hes a creep hes a weirdo </3

When I got into IHNMAIMS I found his relationship with women to be so interesting. It’s one of his biggest driving factors in regard to his relationship with others. It’s why out of all of the survivors, his dynamic with Ellen is the most significant and highlighted one. Like though he’s a fucked up creepozoid, he is a straight fucked up creepozoid 💗

Idc if people jokingly ship him with the guys or whatever, but when it starts to infringe over people’s genuine interpretation of a pretty complex character, as well as the story itself, that’s when I have to say wait a minute.

Also I lowkey(highkey) think when people start seriously applying these headcanons to the actual story/game/etc it heavily undermines his relationship with Ellen. Obviously Ellen’s characterization and story can be far more divorced from Ted than Ted's characterization and story can be from Ellen. Like Ellen has a lot of stuff that impacts her relationship with every survivor as Well as what AM has done to her and her own individual trauma from her past. Ted’s is naturally going to stand out the most out of the four other guys because his perspective highlights her in every adaptation. Ted’s psychodrama is literally based all around ‘saving’ and ‘loving’ her. Not only that, most of the characters within his psychodrama are literally there with the intention to tempt him from these feelings in various ways.

(Personal gain isn’t really the right word but idk how else to phrase it.)

1/3 of the characters try to seduce him(counting the witch in seduce even though she was immediately like ‘PRANKED YOU!’ Or whatever). Then like the Devil, Surgat, and the Witch try to get Ted to override this 'love' for some kind of personal gain. Ted has to give up this 'love' for the benefit of Ellen, rather than for himself or others, which is pretty significant. Like he got to where he is today from his relationship with older rich women. His way of life had been centered around becoming what is needed of him as long as it results in personal gain. Like he’s developed a billion complexes over it.

Once again no harm intended towards people just having a fun time, but it’s just so annoying when these jokes end up becoming all people see about his character and the other characters. It’s important to keep jokes and headcanons separate from the actual content of IHNMAIMS(perhaps it is too late for this though 💔). Though the writing for IHNMAIMS is spotty at times I feel that Ted's is pretty heavily leveled and quite complex. If they wanted him to be bisexual or gay they would make that pretty clear. Like his world view stems a lot from misogyny while also being a male victim of grooming. You genuinely can't divorce this guy from his straightness I am so sorry(It is sooooo fucked up that I have to write something arguing that a character is straight, but unfortunately I have to for Ted. That is Sir Straight .)

If people genuinely want to analyze a gay character, one whose sexuality is a central factor in how he was tortured by AM, then pleasseeee look into Benny. I know it may sound kind of hypocritical of me to write all about Ted here then say people should write about Benny, but in this case I am saying straight ted and gay benny, not the other way around. It also so crazy that they erased Benny being gay in like everything after the short story. Like sure the changes are maybe acceptable, but short story Benny is FAR more engaging and impactful.

Sorry for getting off topic and making this so long, anon thank you so much for your ask, it genuinely got me really excited and gave me an excuse to think critically about my favorite game/short story in regards to the public perception of its characters.

Also I really have to highlight that this was definitely all sparked by my awesome moot freakenomenon!!!!!(idk if I should @ or not since we haven't ever chatted) but seriously!!!!! Happy Pride Month

I hope it has been clear how welcome members of the lgbtq+ community are here.

But this year, I do want to touch on something else. I don't usually talk about world events here, but let's do that for a minute. I think pride month is an excellent time - a necessary time - to talk about liberation for all people.

I've seen people use the anti-lgbtq+ and misogynistic government policies of a country (especially in the Middle East) to downplay the tragedy and violence against the people living under that government - to dehumanize them. This is especially true for black and brown people (such as those in Palestine). But a government does not equal its people. Regardless of a country's policies, there are bound to be queer people living there. If someone supports the lgbtq+ community, then where is the concern for their lives? It feels especially insidious to search for reasons why maybe it's okay that a population is subject to a humanitarian crisis. It's not. It never will be.

If you're going to celebrate pride month (as a member of the community or an ally), I think it's crucial to stand with other oppressed people. To stand with Palestine. With Congo. With Sudan. With Ukraine. These are people who are equally worthy of lives - and I don't simply mean that they deserve to not face cruelty such as starvation, violence (including sa), and death - cruelty that we are witnessing and has been documented for years. I mean that they deserve to live their lives - to love and be themselves, to connect with others, to share and learn and experience. If that's a sentiment you can't get behind, it seems weird to be celebrating pride month. And it seems weirder if you still follow me with that kind of mindset
