was telling my linguist friend about ブラモ/buramo (shortening of "bruh moment") and he wanted to think of other phrases to shorten in the jp style
so i propose エッポン/eppon, for when you are epically pwn'd :^)

The Adventure of Tongpoo / トンプー大冒険 (トンプーだいぼうけん)
Year: 1983 (Shonen Jump # 52)
This story features "Tongpoo", a boy sent to investigate the universe for inhabitable planets. Travelling in a space ship, he is placed under sleep for ease of transport, to be woken close to impact by the computer that controls the ship.
After a 5-year mission, Tongpoo is woken to find his ship damaged by an unknown force. The ship self-destructs with Tongpoo only making it out with seconds to spare.
On the nearest planet, he lands and begins to investigate his surroundings. His trip is aided by devices called "capsules", which are small, transportable objects that develop under hot water. Capsules can contain equipment, vehicles, housing or anything in between. Capsules return in Toriyama's later work, DragonBall, re-named as "Hoi Poi Capsules".
Tongpoo comes across a large wrecked space ship that appears to have crash-landed near a large body of water. Recognising the ship as one from Earth, he investigates it, identifying it as having a crew of three men. He comes across a skeleton of an earthling who appeared to have been shot in the stomach. Contemplating possible reasons for this outcome, he walks on towards the sound of music.
Tongpoo sees a girl over a crest and excitedly approaches her. Unfortunately she is mid-bath and Tongpoo sees her naked. Surprisingly, she is very calm when she sees the newcomer, casually dressing, drying and styling her hair. She asks demonstrates to Tongpoo how to use a machine gun that she stores nearby.
Then she shoots him, while berating him for peeking on her!
"I'm a human!" Tongpoo tries to dodge the storm of bullets, to which the girl replies, "Liar!"
Passing a test to determine that he is human ("What is the tallest mountain on Earth?"), Plamo (the girl, whose name is also translated to "Buramo") tells the story of how the other two Earthling explorers met their untimely deaths. A while before that, an alien landed on the planet and killed Plamo's two male partners. She has been in hiding ever since, fearful of her life.
Tongpoo suggests stealing the alien's space ship and returning with Plamo to Earth. Plamo is apprehensive, seeing it as a suicide mission, but is willing to give it a try in face of the alternative.
Plamo is surprised by Tongpoo's capsule house - a scene which is repeated in early chapters of DragonBall, in which Goku is surprised by technology held by Bulma. Plamo is awed by the capsule technology, which surprises Tongpoo somewhat, because he wonders how Plamo was chosen to travel and examine hospitable planets. Plamo brushes off her concerns, announcing that she has supernatural powers and is therefore just as useful as any explorer. She demonstrates her powers by bending a spoon with her mind (although this process takes a whole hour!). Tongpoo wonders aloud how this power can be useful and Plamo simply replies that she has no idea.
In another scene that is repeated in DragonBall, Plamo offers to bathe with Tongpoo and wash his back, but quickly rejects her offer when she discovers that Tongpoo is 14 years old, the same age as her.
Plamo's plan for the morrow is to seduce the alien with a sexy costume while Tongpoo secures the ship. Tongpoo wonders if an alien would find a human girl attractive.
Sneaking into the spaceship, the pair find it empty. While Plamo waits outside to seduce the alien if he comes back, Tongpoo searches the ship to see if he can fly it. Finding its controls impossible, he decides to blow the ship up using his remaining grenade and lots of ice. Running outside to escape the explosion, Tongpoo finds Plamo in a situation at the alien's hands.
"It's no use! He's a homo!" Plamo cries while Tongpoo shoots at the alien to free her. The alien is unharmed and shoots Tongpoo in the stomach. Plamo cries out, thinking he has been killed but Tongpoo jumps back to his feet, upset that his arm has been injured. Plamo bites the alien's hand and escapes and Tongpoo makes his stand against the alien.
Tongpoo exhibits super-strength and his true nature is revealed - he is a cyborg! The alien is beaten and Tongpoo has just enough time to drag Plamo away to avoid the explosion of the ship.
After this revelation, Plamo decides to take a smaller one-man ship back to Earth. Tongpoo rides on the roof through space as he doesn't need air to breathe.

I dunno if any Vtubers or any Japanese streamers do live streams during the holidays, but seeing the Buramo (ブラモ), I felt it kind to share that Japanese also shortens the words for "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year," from "メリクリスマス" to "メリクリ" (Merikurisumasu -> Merikuri) and "あけましておめでとう" to "あけおめ" (akemashite omedetou -> Akeome)! I sadly don't know if Japanese has anything for any other holidays, but if I find some, I'll add!
Some other fun additions from the Japanese - English speaking communities that I've been in:
- ありがとう very much (Thank you very much)
- どういたし welcome (you're welcome)
- ごめんな sorry (I'm sorry)
- Excuse みません (Excuse me/Pardon me)
#oh Japanese#i love that Japanese shortens everything#also#please enjoy some random phrases to impress your friends
