Some musings abt the soon to be Precure season

So i took a look at the new website and bruhhh

they're so tacky looking and cute I love them! I'd actually gotten spoiled for Cure Wonderful and Cure Nyami's designs thanks to fanart on pixiv, and at the time I thought the season was going to have an Alice and Wonderland motif thanks to Wonderful's crown [thought she was gonna be like the queen of hearts but nope]. After checking out the website and trailer tho, it seems like the theme is more of a zoo and or animal companion theme. When I first realized that I thought to myself "wait haven't we been here before?" but thinking about it further Healing Good's theme was more along the lines of veterinarians and the earth[?] and Kira Kira Precure's was moreso just animals as window dressing/attack inspo with sweets being the main theme so I suppose we're not technically retreading old ground here. Speaking of not retreading old ground- HOLY SHIT THE MAIN CURE IS A DOG??

Just like...a full on dog dog bruh, like dang man I never thought i'd see the day where we'd essentially get a fairy leading the team. It seems like the team's split into both humans and animals, with Cure Nyami definitely being that white cat

This is exciting! I love that Precure's held onto having fairies transform into humans, it's so heckin fun! Back to the designs- In order of my favorite to least favorite it's Cure Nyami [look at that hair bruh! she is beauty, she is grace]

and lastly Cure Lillian [her arm thingies remind me of Futari Wa and I adore that ribbon]

Honestly, I think this may be the first time since Kira Kira Precure that I've been immediately on board with the designs. I ended up loving Hirogaru's over time but at first glance, I couldn't get over how weird they looked [never fully ended up liking Cure Wing's design but still love the character]. The only thing I dislike about them is Lillian's headband, and the big heart on Friend's shoes. I'm sort of a big sucker for poofy/frilly skirts, long straight hair, and ponchos so I feel well-fed. I'm especially looking forward to seeing them all in motion, especially Lillian since based on her turnaround she seems to have a bit of sass to her. Based on Nyami's turnarounds/previews she seems to be more of a kuudere[?] type which isn't something we've gotten for a main cure in a while. There's also all of these guys just hangin' out on the site too

Can't wait to see what these lil guys can do, hoping that they'll be connected to powerups and maybe even special outfits/attacks [really enjoyed it when Happiness Charge did that]. But maaaan this is so cool. It seems like ever since Hirogaru decided to play around with Precure conventions they're going all out with unique approaches to the formula. One thing I hope they continue doing this season tho, is keeping the fighting style as a literal fighting style like super sentai where they actually throw punches. I love Kira Kira, but there's only so many times [like 2] that I can watch someone fight by pointing a wand at something before I start skipping the battles. Really loved how Hirogaru frequently would have the characters strategize in battle, it really kept me engaged even if I always know how it'll end. All-in-all, it's sad to see Hirogaru go, but I'm excited with what new stories await in the new season! ^^

This is more of a rant than anything. The part where Leon wakes up after getting his plagas zapped and he asks Ashley if she did it herself, I feel as though that will be minimized because they are going to show Ada helping her. I like Ada, but I also liked that it implied that Ashley could handle the reigns on her own to some degree. We already know that Ada destroyed the tower in chapter 1, since she has the rocket launcher at the end, and from Separate Ways (which we're eventually going to get again) Ada's never too far from Leon cause she needs him for her own thing. I liked Ashley's growth and I hope I'm wrong to some extent, cause that would mean that she lied to him even if Ada asked and I can't handle that 😭! Ok. This terrible and all over the place rant is over.

if this happens then it means that RE4make changes it so that she doesn't lose the fight to saddler, and i don't know how they're gonna do that because saddler still has to string her up at the docks.

i mean i GUESS there's ways to do that?? but like. i doubt it. the only thing between luis's lab and finding ada strung up are two small rooms with novistadors in them. there's not enough time for ada to help ashley help leon and then disappear again and then get caught and then lose and then get strung up, unless saddler literally suckerpunches her on her way out, which would suck and be stupid.

also i kind of find it hard to believe that ada would walk into luis's lab and then not take anything on her way out.

like. i hear you. it's fucking bananas that the game wants us to believe that 120lb ashley lifted 250+lbs of muscle plus probably another 100lbs of tac gear up onto that chair by herself, so it stands to reason that someone must have helped her, but it's also resident fucking evil LMAO it's just as likely the explanation is "bruhhh adrenaline is whack, u hear about that shit where moms lift up cars to save their babies and shit? it's like that"

but like if it does become a thing, i don't have a problem with ashley keeping the secret from leon, personally -- and i think that's because i'm not picturing it happening the same way you might be. considering ashley's breathless, excited "yeah. yeah, i did this" reaction, chances are her encounter with ada was extremely positive. instead of ada just walking in and making it easy and then turning around and going "don't tell him i did this" it might be something more like... it's an almost comical situation of ashley and ada trying to lift leon's heavy ass, where it's VERY VERY VERY CLEAR that there's absolutely no way ada would've been able to do it without ashley, either. and then at the end of it ada's just winded and exhausted like like "... go ahead and take all the credit. i'd really rather not have him holding this over my head. you know how he is." and it's like. a nice bonding moment between ladies.

but. you know. until proven otherwise, my personal headcanon is that the merchant was the one who helped ashley. he fuckin walks in on his way to his final location and sees leon passed out on the floor all plaga-ified and is just like "well. that's sure not going to be good for business." and it definitely throws out his back but he just keeps on truckin.

me, at 3am, out of the blue was reminded of an account that only me and my ex (whom i had absolutely no conflict) knew about.

i scrolled down to see the old posts and it suddenly hit me that i was once "celebrated" in that way!

at that time, i was in the hectic period of the final exams of the semester. i also had additional activities as a member of the campus organization. so, we only chatted whenever we could, even though we're quite busy and had different free times.

oh sheet! i suddenly remembered that she was also a student too hahahaha. we were the same age although our college classes were different, she was my junior. i actually forgot how can she take the time to make that when we're both preparing for our exams. but i remember i asked her when she had time coz december was always busy.

damn bruhhh. even i broke up without drama like my other breakups, it turns out that when i think about this person, all i get is guilt hahaha 😔

if someone asks me what my biggest regret with this person, i would answer without hesitation: i met her too early. we met when we were both in SHS and we had a relationship until…. i got tired of our monotonous routine for almost 3 years.

i used to like older women coz i thought they'd be more mature and motherly. she's only a month younger than me, but i swear she's very mature and patient and loving and kind and always understanding and never wants to bring our relationship into conflict or drama. fr, she was everything i wanted in a woman. but in reality? i was the one who got tired of the relationship and ended it.

it's feel like i'm on a date with a "yes man". everything feels good, so good that you start to find doing new things that are very different from your routine is interesting. talk and spending time with someone who thinks completely different from you is exciting. i don't even remember if we ever fought about anything coz all i remember is that our relationship used to be as smooth as a highway.

there might be story out there about me being a bit of a jerk coz i got acquainted with someone new who i thought could bring excitement to my life. don't get me wrong, i really have tried various ways to bring back that "spark and excitement", but nothing. i was numb. my excitement for her died out.

am i a fool? yes. am i still gonna end up loving her if we'd met at this age? probably. coz there's no guarantee that everything will be as it was before. whether it's myself or this person, i'm sure there are some things that have changed. so... what? hahaha

life update (again)

well, i wish 2023 will be good to me.

in a matter of like 25 days, my second sem will start and oh boy i don't feel excited anymore. i was pretty enthusiastic before because i thought i will have major subjects na. well, meron na naman PERO ang unti pala dzai. tatlo lang siya unfortunately, and i have like 13 or 12 subjects in total. nevertheless, i should be happy right?? at least meron na, unlike before. bruhhh i'm so thankful those days were over, i don't have to fucking deal with useless shits. the only good thing that happened to me that time was when i finally got to wear my uniformmmm!!! man, i was just dreaming before of wearing an all-white uniform and now finally, it came true!! like, wtf it's so surreal! i remember way back in hs, i will stare at myself in the mirror while putting my white blouse (u know, the normal hs uniform) and then i would imagine that i'm in a healthcare and putting on my white uniform. but now, oh my gosh, it's real! it's happenning! i am really putting my all-white uniform every time i will go to school and i am really a med student!

Mirabel’s character arc and storyline aren’t about her realizing that she’s “actually been special all along” or that everyone is special--in fact, it’s the opposite. Mirabel’s growth is in realizing that the people she’s surrounded by and thought of as special aren’t actually “special” and that it doesn’t matter if you’re special or not.

Mirabel starts the story really insecure about being the only one who isn’t special---which everyone really feeds into (yes I’m looking at you “the not special special” guy... bruh she’s like 16 what made you think that was a good idea???). But in putting her family members on this higher pedestal and focusing on where she lacks, she puts this block in her ability to connect with and listen to them because oh, they’re perfect! They have gifts so they must have perfect lives, etc.

I’ve talked about this before but Casita is a physical representation of the health and connection of the family and Mirabel’s destiny is, yeah, to fix it! Mirabel’s “gift” is like Abuela’s--she’s the next head of the Madrigal household, and her inheritance is Casita.

If Mirabel’s story was about her realizing that she was special, then Casita would have been fixed when Mirabel “realized her own value” (that she was also special). But that doesn’t happen. Casita is fixed as the family becomes closer, as Mirabel listens to others more, as the family members become more honest with each other and stop emotionally isolating themselves.

A perfect example of this is What Else Can I Do? Mirabel starts by trying to fix the problem, thinking that she just needs to hug Isabela and it’ll all be okay somehow--she’s focused on herself saving Casita. She’s not actually seeing or hearing Isabela. It’s only her shift halfway through the song--when she makes the choice to start empathizing with Isabela instead of trying to push her own agenda and thoughts--that makes it possible for the cracks to be fixed.

The most major sign of this is that the ultimate victory, or the way that the situation is fixed, is by Abuela and Mirabel both listening to each other with mutual respect. A lot of people like to act like Abuela was the bad guy and Mirabel the hero--that isn’t the case at all??? Casita falls when Mirabel yells at Abuela--she has never been so close to the rest of her family! In fact, Mirabel is, in part, getting mad on behalf of her family--she’s closer than ever to Isabela, Luisa, and Bruno. So why did Casita break? Because you can’t just freeze out one member of the family Madrigal and act like the family is better for it--case in point Bruno. Abuela isn’t a person who has to be chased out or hated. She’s someone who also needs to be listened to and understood. She’s also part of the family Madrigal.

Most of the movie is shifting Mirabel’s perspective of her family so that the “extraordinary” becomes ordinary. Luisa seems powerful and untouchable? Surface Pressure plays and after that, we often see Luisa being vulnerable and exhausted. Isabela seems effortlessly perfect? She puts in so much effort and half of that image is her lying to try and help the family. So on and so forth.

Rather than elevating Mirabel, the movie more just... takes down the pedestals that she has unconsciously built for her family. Rather than saying “Mirabel didn’t have to change anything, she was special all along”, I think the movie is more saying that Mirabel needed to look past her insecurities to actually listen and see the people around her, and this ability to stop seeing people as special and instead see them as people is what saved her family and, by extension, Casita.

Laughing so hard on your bed, your stomach ache so bad. This was fun than expected, messing with this guy make your cheeks ache from laughing too much. That night, Heeseung completely forgot about his original plan of trying to invite you, a complete stranger, for the party, to annoy the hell out of his crush, Sakura. Organizing my thoughts on Sonic 2! (spoilers below the cut!)

Sonic himself was very enjoyable! His pop culture references weren’t as frequent or annoying, and I loved seeing him mature a little; he feels more like Sonic from the games while retaining what always made movie-Sonic unique. Whenever he got serious it was like 😳. And I loved his heartfelt moments with Tom and Tails.

OMG TAILS I loved him so much! He was such a sweet little boy, way more adorable and fun than in the games imo. I still wish we could have seen more of him and Sonic! The moment where he uses his tails as a blanket for Sonic??? GIVE ME MORE SONIC AND TAILS.

Knuckles was great too! Beating a dead horse, but it’s nice to see him as a grim warrior rather than a total idiot. Playing the wacky straight-man with his lack of self-awareness is a new kind of comedy for him, and I say it works. I think he and Sonic could have benefited from more friendship moments too. Their conversations on the mountain and the beach were great!

The GUN wedding subplot with Rachel was just... off the rails LOL. It felt like I'd stepped into another movie, kinda took away from the main experience. I did laugh, but MAN it was weird. I guess that’s what I like about Sonic though - it’s always got weirdness up its sleeve.

Eggman was Eggman. Jim Carrey did great, of course. Did not see the Master Emerald powers coming! I was afraid he was going to fight Sonic mano-a-mano, it was a relief that he made a robot, very in character. I do wonder what they’ll do with him in Sonic 3?

The climax fight was amazing! I loved Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles' friendly cooperation and banter, it felt so much more natural and loving than the team-ups in other superhero movies.

Super Sonic summoning the chili dog caught me off-guard, that was probably my favorite joke of the movie just because of how good they got me lol.

I love the Wachowski family so much, I can watch them play baseball for the rest of my life. I’m so happy for Knuckles he’s not alone anymore ;_; nor is Tails ALL OF THESE BOYS JUST NEEDED FRIENDS (when Knuckles picked up Tails on his shoulder and Tails giggled? MY HEART)

THE POST-CREDITS SCENE (I hope it’s a Tails situation and they redesign Shadow a little before Sonic 3, I wasn’t feeling the 5 seconds we saw of his design tbh) but BRUHHH

All in all, it's got more Sonic, which is just what I wanted. Not a perfect film by any means, but a ton of fun. I'm very excited for Sonic 3, whenever that happens! give me Amy and Rouge or I will be mildly upset
