Aaron Blabey talks closing on The Bad Guys books after a decade-long run.
Creator & author of the best-selling books, Aaron Blabey, explains on bringing a close to The Bad Guys series. He shall now focus on doing movies, which include the upcoming sequel from DreamWorks.
Q: The Bad Guys in One Last Thing. Love the book, first of all, and this is kind of your goodbye to these characters after ten years. Tell me how do you feel about that.
A:"I feel great about it. Obviously there's an element of sadness to it being all done. I wrote the books for my kids when they were little, and they're now 16 and 18. So the journey of the books—it was always intended that there was never going to be more than 20. I planned out the story to loop around at the 20th episode and just circle back to the top. What it ended up being is like a perfect little package with my kid's childhoods. And now they're almost grown up, and because of the movies too, it just feels like the characters have got their own life." -author Aaron Blabey.
Q: What are the kids in your life—what have you heard from them over the ten years of seeing these characters going through all of the fun & shenanigans they get up to?
A:"Well, it was written because my youngest, at 6, he was bringing home books from school that he found so boring that it would literally make him cry, which is why I wanted to write the story. I wanted to write something cool that he would just think: 'This is really cool, I want to read this!' And they both, during their childhoods, had all kinds of thoughts. When the first movie came out a couple of years ago, they were both at the premiere in L.A., and it just blew their minds. But they've also grown up with it, so they have a lot more to say about it than you might expect." -Aaron Blabey.
Q: I'm very proud of you, Aaron, your fans can see the love and the care you put into this series over the last decade. So now are you taking a break? Are you just going immediately to the next books? What's coming next?
A: "I have one book left in my other series, Cat On The Run, which is out next year, and that's it. I'm retired from books, I'm finished. I'm doing other things; the movies—because I finished the book a year ago, it's taken this long for them to come out. I've been just making music and doing all kinds of other things, it's time to do other stuff. And it's lovely, there's something really lovely. It feels like I've had different sorts of acts in my life, and this feels very much like the end of an act, which encapsulated the books but also my kids growing up." -Aaron Blabey
Q: Any advice for anyone who's figuring out on maybe opening an act or the curtains coming down on an act, what would you tell them?
A:"I don't know. All I've ever done is follow threads, just things that I couldn't get out of my head, and they can lead to extended periods of hardships, there's no two ways about it, you know? But if you just, if there's something you just can't let go of as an idea then—and the people who are like that, the only thing to do is if you feel strongly enough about it, you just have to follow it and just see where it leads. And you just got to beat the system, more work like—I was making books for eight years without any of them selling or having any commercial success of any kind. And I had little kids and had to do other jobs and just didn't look like it was going to work out. And then the number of times I've nearly given up I can't even count. But something wouldn't let me stop. And when it did explode, it was actually Pig the Pug that went first and then The Bad Guys second. It was just life altering, and there's something really lovely about having dedicated, all my life really, but certainly the last 15 years to just following something that—I don't know. I feel like I've been looking for The Bad Guys my whole life, in a strange way. There was something that I wanted to express, and just spent 20 years really, I couldn't quite find it, I couldn't. And I looked in all directions and then when The Bad Guys happened, it just all made sense. All my movie obsessions, all the things that I love, just spilled out into it." -Aaron Blabey

I’m not a romance book reader it’s just not my thing and I don’t have a problem with people who do like reading romance but what the fuck is ALI HAZELWOOD doing on my cover of my gender bent Sherlock Holmes mystery books
i know this is just to get good press for the book but i don’t think their preaching to the right audience. I’m not saying that romance readers can’t/don’t read or want to read these books but marketing wise this feels WAY out of left field. before they had reviews from Julia Quinn and Deanna Raybourn on the covers which seemed a lot more relevant considering genre but hey if a booktok famous author is going to get people to read this book series why should I complain. I’m probably the only one who noticed the review tbh no one pays attention to them anyways

A Dagger Through The Heart follows the pair Deimos and Zaine. They aren't font of each other, but the two care for each other nonetheless. After essentially growing up together, they had to learn to tolerate one another. Though, their once peaceful life is ruined once a certain Jester enters the picture. They wander aimlessly through land after land only to turn up empty-handed, even with all of Zaine's strength and protection Deimos still succumbed to the family curse he aimlessly ran from.

'My Life With The Walter Boys' by Ali Novak I finished in 2 days getting out of my reding slump.
*spoiler warning*
Tumblr media
I read 'Paper Hearts' (my fav) in 2018 and didn't know Ali wrote this one years later. Fantastic Writer. It got me out of a huge reading slump, it's like TSIP vibes but it isn't messy like Belly's
I fell in love with Alex more than Cole. Cole's very stubborn and just ruin every situation aka like the wedding.
but in that one scene where Cole takes Jackie riding on Athena i thought of that one scene in the hannah montana movie where Miley and Travis rode the horses.
I really loved Katherine taking care of her kids and having Jackie as her own daughter, I'm happy nothing bad happened to her. idk i got a feeling someone was going to get hurt but didn't think it would be Nathan
I'm Team Alex.
out of five stars, I give a four-star rating. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
