If you were in charge of the bnha anime, what fillers would you have made for the league?

Personally I feel like we were robbed of a beach episode, I would adapt the smash manga where the league is (curiously there is one where they go to the beach) and I think that the league deserved to play with Shigaraki's new powers to get to know them (this before the war), as well as using Redestro's money irresponsibly.

Masterlist

Imagine really living in a world with super powers? Going to school to learn all you can about using your quirk to help people. Fighting villains who threaten the peace and false sanctuary of the world.

You spent hours day dreaming about it and reading comic books. That’s how it should stay, imagine living in THIS universe and people had super powers… funny but not funny haha funny absolutely terrifying.

“ You know what I like this Y/N, I feel like you’re really going to make this into something wonderful for the spring news paper ”

“ Thank you Mrs. Montgomery, I think the student body will enjoy a fun story about becoming a super hero or vigilante considering all the new books and movies coming out when this is published.”

She smiled at you and sent you off your way, the school was now partially empty and the creative writing club was spending time after school to put together the first edition of the newspaper.

You had an entire week of Christmas break to write and let your creativity flow free. The snow fell as you made your way home and it gave you a child like joy, so you made a wish.

If there is a high power somewhere in the universe, I want my story to come alive this Christmas so I have something wonderful to publish on the newspaper.

After arriving home and eating dinner you decided to develop your characters. Research was important for making well written characters so you spent the next few hours writing and reading about different powers and superhero’s across the multi verse. You stumbled upon a series that sparked your inspiration like no other.

My Hero Academia

In this series 80% of the world is born with super powers that they call quirks, and they have high schools specifically meant to create future hero’s. The main character reminded you of yourself, born without powers but way more ambitious than anyone else.

Y/N are you coming?

Your eyes opened, when did you fall asleep? I was just watching the newest episode of My Hero and-

“ Y/N are you dressed we’re going to training soon!”

“ Yeah be right there”

Mother sounds weird, and what training is she talking about?

Taking a look around this wasn’t your room at all, it was like you were in a customized hotel suite with everything personalized to your liking. Looking at your clothes you were in some kind of costume as well. You weren’t home and nothing was making sense, was that even your mother calling you just now? You grabbed your phone and headed to the door clasping onto the knob without opening. Voices could be heard outside it sounded like there was a bunch of people in front of your door.

You opened it and were met face to face with the meanest mug. “ Bakugo?”

“ Let’s go you’ve been locked away since last night I was gonna barge in and drag you out myself ”

“ What? ”

“ Are you thick let’s go ” he angrily grabbed your hand and all but dragged you down the hall as the others followed. Everything looked exactly how it did in the show, you were amazed was this some type of Lucid dream?

“ Why do you look like that?”

“ Huh? I look like what”

“ Like you’ve never been here should I get you medicine or something ” Bakugo’s kindness surprised you a great deal be was standoffish even with his friends for the most part.

“ Bakugo why-”

“ Again with Bakugo? What happened to Tsuki?” He whispered turning away from you with a reddened ears.

Oh?

“ Yeah my fault… Tsuki”

When you were all at the training arena it was as if using a quirk was second nature to you. You felt like you were truly super human, like you were finally alive. The second part of training you were paired off into teams, you were paired with Bakugo which gives you the chance to figure out the extent of your relationship.

Walking down the hall together yiu we’re thinking of a way to bring anything up without giving away the fact that you really have no clue what is going on when you noticed him looking over his shoulder every few second.

“ What are you looking at?”

You looked over your shoulder to find no one just the regular UA halls. Turning to him he was starring at you intensely, was he angry? He licked his lips and placed his hands on your hips pulling you close.

Okay now I get it.

“ You looked great earlier, I told you training with me would help. Can I get my promised reward?”

“ Reward?” Your hands felt clammy and your cheeks were hot. What did he want as a reward..

“ yes, a kiss? I missed you yesterday you started acting strange when everyone was watching a movie.”

“ O-oh yeah no don’t worry I’m fine must’ve been a headache Yanno?” He smiled softly and his hands wondered further making you Yelp.

You were now inches apart and your hands glided to his face. You’ve kissed people before but something about these red eyes made you so nervous. You closed your eyes and connected, his lips were so soft why did everything just feel right here.

“ Sorry to interrupt you two but the arena is waiting”

Oo okay! This is gonna be long because I did all of them.

My Hero Academia - I adore Dabi’s Dance first and foremost, then all the flashbacks to his childhood in Season 6, Episode 17. Third, I loved Aizawa and Mic’s conversation with Kurogiri in the Villain Academia arc, and one of the scenes that’s stuck with me the most in MHA is when Aizawa says ‘don’t apologise for being alive’ to All Might, I think around the Christmas Episode? That would be fourth. Finally, the scene where Toga uses Ochaco’s quirk in the villain academia. Those aren’t in order at all but they’re the things that come to mind

Jujutsu Kaisen - the scene in the end of season 1 where Megumi uses Domain Expansion for the first time after remembering advice Gojo and Sukuna gave him was really cool. And the scene where middle school Megumi is sitting on a pile of bullies he just beat up as second. Third, the end of the hidden inventory arc where Gojo’s asleep having dream flashbacks of meeting little Megumi, then he wakes up and grown up Megumi is the first thing he sees. In the same episode, the scene where Geto is giving a speech to his cult and kills a dude on stage is so uncomfortable and kinda disorienting, but so cool, so that’s fourth. The scene at the end of the JJK 0 movie with Gojo talking to deathbed Geto is my fifth.

Blue Exorcist - the scene were Rin is reading the letter in the Impure King arc and he’s just like ‘…interesting…’ and they’re like ‘what does it say’ and he just goes, ‘I can’t read it’. Second, the scene way at the beginning of it when Rin is yelling about how Shiro isn’t even his real father and then Shiro slaps him. Third, the moment where Amaimon was opening and closing Rin’s sword and his flames were just going on and off was funny. Fourth, when Rin talks to Kuro about Shiro’s death and gets him as a familiar. Fifth, Kamiki being the only reasonable one after they found out Rin was the son of Satan and saying she doesn’t really care. I don’t know when any of these things happened but it’s all in season one and two

Hell Girl - Ai Enma singing the song her cousin used to sing with her while she’s making the pebble tower is probably my favourite moment in the show, it’s near the end of season one. That’s my first. Second is in the Bride Doll episode when Ren is watching Inori get tortured by her mother-in-law and says ‘women are scary..’ to which Honne Onna responds ‘have you only just figured that out?’. Third, the scene where Ai talks to Nina in episode 17 and gets her to remember she isn’t actually Nina. Fourth, any scene where Tsugumi says she doesn’t think Hell Girl is completely in the wrong, much to Hajime’s dismay. And fifth, the flashbacks to Ai and Sentarou.

Your Name - the scene where Mitsuha reads that Taki wrote ‘I love you’ on her hand and starts crying because she can’t use that to remember his name. The scene with Taki in Mistuha’s body where her grandmother asks him if he’s dreaming and he starts crying. The bit when Taki goes in person to see Mitsuha and finds out that the comet killed everyone three years ago. I don’t know when it happened but I swear there’s a scene where Taki refers to Yostuha as his sister and I found it incredibly cute. Finally, the scene where Mistuha yells ‘please make me a cute Tokyo boy in my next life!’

Weathering With You - Hodaka saying the McDonald’s burger is the best meal he’s ever had. Second, Hina telling Hodaka she’s disappearing, then cuddling, and him waking up with her gone and Nagi having had the same dream as him. The entire part of the movie where Hodaka is running from police and doing crazy shit to get away from them. Of course fourth is ‘Who cares if we never see the sun again?! I want you more than any blue sky!’ And fifth would have to be Nagi, Hina and Hodaka in the hotel just having the times of their lives as a found family

A Silent Voice - the scene where Shoya’s mum stops Shoko’s mum from fighting with Ueno. Yuzuru’s conversation with her grandma right before the grandma dies. The scene with everyone at the bridge where Shoya calls everyone else out on their bs. Shoya saving Shoko when she tried to kill herself. Shoko when she tried to confess her love to Shoya.

reached bnha's christmas episode and i thought oH this would be a nice place to take a break so i don't finish watching the whole anime too quickly, maybe i could pause here and wait until christmas is over before i continue watching again!

Bakugou honestly makes it really hard to want to write fanfics for BNHA. I mean, if I’m writing fanfics for my favorite ships or just a selection of characters, that’s one thing. Just leave him out of the story altogether, easy peasy. But if I want to do a whole class experience, that’s where it is difficult. Because if I try to include him, my mind always gravitates to write him in how he is in canon.

And he is the living definition of antisocial.

The shopping trip, he called it lame. The dorm room competition, he went to bed, didn’t even join the rest of the boys downstairs when he was done packing. He only joined the swimming pool day because Kirishima, through great effort, coaxed him to joining. He didn’t lift a finger to help the local residents when they were assigned to the island in the second movie. Feel free to correct me, but I believe he avoided attending Iida’s birthday in one of the light novels. On numerous occasions we see him trying to get away or want nothing to do with being with the class in the FREAKIN Christmas episode.

Trying to write a scene to include Bakugou in is exhausting or annoying because I can only seen him saying something insulting or degrading about how the whole event happening is lame or a waste of time or along those lines, he gets in a fight with another character, or some form of confrontation to where the story has to stop to acknowledge he isn’t having a good time, and it’s jarring. I LITERALLY cannot see Bakugou enjoying people’s company.

Characters that you can label as introverts or asocial (and there is a DISTINCT difference between asocial and antisocial), such as Amajiki, Todoroki, Tokoyami or Shoji, I have an easier time placing them in mundane settings or doing something as simple as strolling through a park a sunny day, because we got to see their human side. Bakugou just screams and yells and hates people. He isn’t fun or a challenge to write, he’s a chore that I have to cater to.

So why did I write this? Because I’d like to hear your advice on how to approach this problem. I know if I try to incorporate Bakugou with how I feel the characters would actually act, I’ll get complaints from the stans saying they didn’t like their uwu boy was ganged up on or singled out or he was out of character. And if I remove him altogether, people will be bugging me asking what happened to him. I feel like it’s a lose lose situation.

So fun fact: the reason I took a hiatus from writing MHA Fanfiction for a bit was because I faced the same problem. I really didn’t like Katsuki and really didn’t want to write him. In some of my stories, Izuku doesn’t take Katsuki’s BS because of things in his life that don’t have him act like he does in canon. I have two fanfics with an immortal Izuku who can’t die (each time he does, he pops back to life) and that’s clearly going to affect how he sees someone who has such a disregard for life. Another fic has him becoming Iron Man, merging the two characters, so Izuku calls out Katsuki. Essentially, some stans got upset, including a 24 year old who decided to insult an at the time 16 year old. As my hatred for Katsuki grew, I started wondering how I even wanted to write him. I knew I didn’t wanna write anything that was torture porn like how other fanfics do but I also didn’t want to write him whatsoever. Even putting him in the background means I’d have to deal with him.

Eventually tho, I realized you can’t please everyone. I decided that I was going to expel Katsuki from U.A after people find out what he did and not bother with his character (except in fics where Katsuki’s behavior actually influences the plot). If people don’t like it, they can simply not read it. There’s no reason I should force myself to write him if he’s not going to be important to the story. Some people will say “well if you hate Katsuki then why don’t you write him interesting in your fic” and to that I say that I have far more interesting things to do than write Katsuki. I have characters that need to be explored, themes to be tackled, and a story to tell. Typically, Katsuki’s character does nothing for the stories I’m trying to tell except for serving as a hurdle for Izuku, so once Izuku jumps over said hurdle, his job is done and I remove him from the story. I don’t make too big of a deal about it, I simply expel him and leave his fate to the audience’s imagination.

Now if you don’t wanna expel him, you can honestly throw him in the background and focus on the other characters. Just have him ditch the scene while everyone else is having fun or whatever.

The Todoroki siblings all come home for Christmas for the first time in years told from Natsuo's perspective. Featuring a lot of sibling bonding and roasting, dysfunctional but loving family moments, and the Todoroki siblings coming together over the fact that their sperm donor is a shit-heel. It's funny and heartwarming and I really love the writing style. I fucking adore the Todoroki siblings and everything about them.

An Incurable Diagnosis by NerdyGay

Even when Izuku gets a Quirk, it doesn't mean he isn't still Quirkless. Izuku dealing with the struggles of being a minority despite the fact that he technically has a Quirk now. It's very much a character study with a lot of FEELINGS moments.

i. shaky hands by rexcorvidae

Izuku has chronic pain from fucking his hands up to hell and back, and Aizawa helps him through it. This is what I lovingly refer to as "soft angst", where it's more about comfort than suffering. It's just all very soft, like a warm hug after a bad day.

This one, though? Holy shit. If you're looking to suffer, this is the fic for you. Fics that explore Izuku's bullying trauma always just hit different. Because while we will probably never know the specifics of just how badly Izu was bullied, we can make a pretty damn good guess based on canon context, and this is just. It's the most uncomfortable, realistic bullying I've ever read about, and the feelings that Izuku describes and goes through are so painfully relatable and real that it physically hurts you. This is not a fun read with basically no catharsis, but it is still really well written.

The better still today series by rexcorvidae

In a universe where Inko dies, Aizawa ends up adopting Izuku and raising him with his husband Present Mic. This is also really painful, with moments of sweetness that only really serve to drive the knife in deeper.

Mostly about Bakugou learning to be a less shitty human being when he realizes that Izuku did exactly what he told him to do in the first episode. Featuring Bakugou and Todoroki being not-friends friends and Izuku being 1000000% done with Bakugou and everyone else. But also, disabled support course Izuku is valid af. It is deeply upsetting, but also profoundly human.

The beauty of futility by wbtrashking (quillifer)

Ho, boy. Shouto and Izuku meet in their mid-thirties when Izuku inadvertently saves Shouto from trying to commit suicide. Despite how it starts off, this is first and foremost about recovery. It's so fucking sad, but also hopeful and loving and beautiful. Also, Eri is Izuku's adopted daughter, so that's fucking precious.

Burn and Breathe by PitViperOfDoom

A Tododeku sharing pain soulmates au. I'm not usually the biggest fan of soulmate aus (I just feel like it's done wrong more often than it's done right), but this is how you fucking do it right. Not only does the sharing pain aspect make so much sense for Izuku and Shouto specifically, but it also enhances the story and their relationship. The writing style is artistic and beautiful, and the story itself is fucking sad but also unrelentingly sweet. My only complaint is that there isn't more of it.

i’ve been following you for a while and i love your blog! got a question however: i see you blogging moral orel and i’ve never seen it but from what i’ve read on wikipedia, how would you compare the bad dad to bnha’s bad dads. is he fit to join the club. looking at him gives me afo vibes somehow.

moral orel primer

The thing about Moral Orel is that it's an edgy-ish mid 2000s satire about hypocritical fundamentalist Protestant environments and how badly one eager and god-loving kid can be lead to misinterpret the bible. It's got that irreverent humour. Skip the episode "God's Xhef" if you ever watch it. To set up my point, one of the running gags for the series is that at the result of Orel's shenanigans is Clay taking Orel to his study to belt him. And then his pants fall down! haha.

The series then takes a swerve, starting from the first season Christmas episode and leading into the third season, for a darker, more character-driven narrative. It delves more into the citizens of Moralton, the impact that their Christian environment has on them and their relationships with each other, and bits of history to understand how they turned out the way they did, etc

One of the characters most impacted here is Clay. While he's always been the second-most prominent character after Orel himself, and their relationship is central to the story, it's with this new take on the story that Clay really becomes the deuteragonist of the series. He becomes that much more fascinating a character, and his treatment of Orel and his family becomes that much more vile. Sadly the third season is cut short, reportedly after execs saw a particularly dark episode (not Orel or Clay related!) and thought. hm. that wasn't funny.

I lay that all out to explain that while Moral Orel starts off as a pretty silly, shock-value cartoon about how weird Christians are, it also depicts a lot of serious subject matters, and the treatment of that is much more frank and realistic and difficult as the series progresses.

So while he becomes a much more developed character that the audience can understand, Clay's abusive behaviour loses a lot of that wink-wink satirical irony. He's also CRAZY pathetic.

how comparable is it to bnha?

First things first, I do think there are largely interesting things to say about how BNHA depicts abuse, despite the downhill trend of writing in the third act that I complain about all the time. I don't think every aspect is perfect, but it's like. I do think there's more positive to say there than how other stories depict abuse. There's actually lots that I love about what the series does, or think that it could do were it not hobbled by things and stuff.

Ultimately, there isn't really a bulletproof way of comparing fictional abusive situations to another, because respective to real life you can't compare one abusive situation against the other.

But one can compare things like the genre and structure of a story, who the intended audience is, what the production of the story is like, how much time and focus can be devoted to certain subjects and what the actual focus is meant to be, etc etc.

Moral Orel can pull together different elements of abuse, like the suffocating environment of Christian fundamentalism, the abuse of a self-destructive alcoholic, the neglect that comes from mutually disaffected and inept parents, the generational nature of abuse, so on and so forth in a sincere way. Meanwhile BNHA, as a weekly serialized shonen battle manga whose creator has become increasingly rundown, has Things To Say, but doesn't necessarily have the same capacity to devote its power to those things. Abuse is vital to the themes of BNHA, but it's not the center of it the way it is for Moral Orel.

So when Clay does his thing, stripped of the fantastical couching of BNHA's bad dads, it just feels more real and it feels worse as a result.

Never a question that Clay is a worse dad than Enji lmao. However one feels about Endeavour's arc, or how well-written or 'deserved' it is, or how successful and genuine Enji is in his efforts, at the very least he's realised that he's done wrong and wants to atone for it, while also grappling with the fact that there may be no way for him to do that. spoilers but clay shan't do this. you get flickers that he has regrets, but he'll NEVER change baby.

I guess Clay gets a one-up where his marriage with Bloberta is mutually destructive, harmful, and toxic in comparison to Enji unambiguously abusing Rei though. so failmarriage win.

Kotarou is actually similar to Clay though! Lots to say, to compare and contrast. I'm actually kind of obsessed, especially because what I said about Clay being more realistic also applies to Kotarou - Kotarou just gets less screentime. They're both deeply affected by their childhood and relationships with their own parents in ways they take it out on their children (the "explained but not excused" idea behind fictional depictions of generational abuse). They also project an image of the upper(?)-middle class family man and Patriarch of the household, either to make up for the failings of their childhood or because it's what expected of them as a man in their world. (Wee bit of conjecture on Kotarou's part but I think it has solid grounding.)

But there's also significant differences. Physical abuse is normalized as corporal between Clay and Orel, on top of the emotional abuse, manipulation, and neglect. Kotarou's abuse of Tenko is largely emotional, with the big slap implied to be the first time that abuse manifested as physical and a line crossed for the rest of the family. And while I'm sure some people would debate this, the idea that Kotarou promised Nao a home full of joy feels genuine. He did want that, the happy family full of smiles he lost as a kid, only for his own resentment to poison everything when Tenko can't obey the rules Kotarou created and enforced to achieve it. Clay, on the other hand, like. There's bits of him implying he loves his family but doesn't have the means to show or act on it, but when he has a whole speech about the sacrifices he makes for his family, family never rings as more than an obligation that he has to put up with for the appearance of manhood.

And Shigaraki can have xyz feelings about his dad forever, but he accepts and espouses the one true lesson Kotarou taught him, that heroes can't do shit all. His father was always a scary and domineering figure, but it feels like while he will never forgive him, Shigaraki does understand him more as an adult. Meanwhile, Orel tries as hard as he can to honour thy father until he can't anymore.

Again, I think that Clay and Kotarou are probably most comparable in terms of being the Bad Dad with some similar hang-ups and relationships to their kids, but part of what makes Kotarou interesting is that we don't know what he would have done had Tenko's quirk not triggered how and when it did. With his family finally willing to push back against him and himself feeling regret for hitting Tenko, could he have changed? We don't know! But much like I said when talking about Enji, Clay's never going to change.

All For One has become more of a cartoon villain that I am determined to turn into a dress up doll for my own amusement than a bad dad and is more evil guardian or whatever. BUT there's one thing that I almost forgot about when I was first writing this up, but realised is actually soooo interesting.

There's a lot to say about AFO and Clay being the primary "teacher" to Shigaraki and Orel! I that while AFO does influence Shigaraki's villainous ideals, he also lets society and Shigaraki's experiences speak for themselves. And frankly, Shigaraki has a lot of leeway and agency in evolving his ideals through his own experiences, particularly after AFO's incarceration. He sees AFO for what he is, probably has for a long time, and is determined to establish his own identity outside of AFO regardless of what Shigaraki has learned from him. Clay is much more strict and obvious about imposing his worldview on his son, but while Orel is desperate for his dad's approval and love and can be led to do things that feel wrong for that love, Orel never absorbs those lessons the way that Clay wants him to, and separating himself from his father and come to terms with what Clay has done is a much more difficult process.

Y'know the bnha fandom is annoying but it's 99% bc of the bigoted, sexist, mysogynistic fucks there. Not gay shippers. They make that 1% but literally any fandom has that, so it's not like it's anything new or unique to bnha.

And what i find worse, is all of that bigotry gets a bunch of people to believe bnha is a bigoted story as well. But it's all deflected by outsiders getting mad at gay shippers.

Like, you can say stuff abt Hori's writting, but i'm pretty sure he never went out of his way to affirm this hatred, and it pains me when people get on to putting words on his mouth and acting like it's a fact.

Once, I got someone in the Stranger Things fandom reblog a Bakugou post of mine, thinking they were cute being a troll and I blocked them. Checked their blog out and they had NOTHING pertaining to BNHA, NOTHING.

I forgot what they said but it was enough to piss me off. Look, I deal with enough idiots within the fandom, I don't need your dumb ass.

It just surprises me people think BNHA is the first and only fandom to act chaotic. Acting like ship wars is something the BNHA fandom made up.

Ooooh, not long after that incident, I witness a ship war in the Stranger Things fandom through the blogs I follow. I never been so quick to dip out and write that day.

People don't find it strange that gay shippers often get blamed? It doesn't click that it's easy for gay shippers to get blamed? Do you really think that people who draw and write their ships are gonna say something outrageous just so they get people mad at them? No one thinks it's the homophobic asshole wanting to cause a problem because they don't like gay ships so they're blaming the shippers? Or the misogynist jerk who believes women should have a certain role in society so they bash the female characters who seem "not like a woman" to them? Or how about the racist who tends to talk over fans of color because they don't want those fans to be heard because HELLO THEY'RE RACIST?!

Like people, open your damn eyes!!!

I also think cultural differences play a part in the stupidity of how people act in fandoms.

I need certain fucking people to understand that something that may seem strange to you may be something normal somewhere else. That doesn't mean you, the damn outsider, speak over and bash the person who knows more about their own culture than you do.

There is a language barrier there, so instead of this whole entitled "I'm right because I don't understand you" attitude, I need people to actually get out that stupid bubble and try to understand. Not just for Horikoshi, but for anybody.

Example, the Christmas episode. The part where Eri was confused about the holidays and she pulled out the beans and say "in sickness and in health", I was confused. Of course, I was. I'm not native to Japan nor am I an expert on Japanese culture. But instead of "That's even a real holiday, blah blah", I read up on it and found out something I didn't know.

So simple, so easy! I rather at least be aware next time than to be like "that's not something I know so therefore it's not important and it's stupid".

Overall, I hope you folks can hear me sighing loudly, people need to stop relying on hearsay. In fact, just stop altogether because a lot of people in fandoms really be doing too much for me.

opening the presents: Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Counter! Midnight! We used to always open presents at midnight between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, our parents would send us to bed around 8, of course we didn't sleep, and we'd be woken up around midnight, and then all 20-ish of us (more if people could travel) would go one by one and open presents all at once. We still keep the tradition going as much as we can, but we don't mind picking a day or doing both days and seeing the same people twice. Both sides of the family (dad and mom) would both come, my parents go lucky that the in-laws loved each other, and we all get together/visit one another whenever we want. it pays that all of us live in the same city.

I'm actually a sucker for those old school stop-motion movies like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Year without a Santa Clause, etc. I also love How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both versions, not with Benedict Cumbersalad) too! But one I haven't seen in FOREVER is The Life and Adventures of Santa Clause (2000s version), been a hot minute since I watched that on Disney Channel.

And my Maternal Grandmother has an old baby Jesus doll from Mexico (actually 2, but we use the bigger one). We place the doll (made out of clay or ceramic i think, but I can't recall, it's painted over) gently on a blanket, lift it up, and we sing him to sleep as we gently rock the blanket back and forth. Once he's "rocked to sleep" each of us will kiss his forehead to wish him a good night, before he's placed in the 'manger'.

Something that amuses me is the fact that I’m not caught up on literally any of my fictional others’ source material! 

This is a brief study of where I left every single media (and why): 

these are my personal experiences and i certainly don’t judge anyone for not sharing them or for enjoying a plot twist/plot arc that i disliked! 

BNHA (anime)- I watched to the end of season 4 and never picked up the next season: I was getting tired of suppressing my emotions about the whole hero/police parallel issues and just decided the fanfiction would be more fulfilling than the actual story. 

Homestuck- I read the original webcomic to the end, but I abandoned HS2 like a hot potato and refused to touch the whole franchise for a year and a half: it was such a bitter piece of writing, mocking the fandom and erasing the progress most of the characters had made in their original arcs, and I don’t know that I’ll ever fully forgive the creators for it. 

Magic School Bus- I read most of the books when I was a kid, but I never watched the TV show! I was one of those 90s kids who didn’t have cable, and I’m not sure I’ve read ALL of the books: it’s been a while for most of them, though I do have 2 still on my bookshelf 

TMA- I always preferred the oneshot horror story part of The Magnus Archives, so I started to get pretty burned out around season 3, but I kept going until season 5! Season 5 tends to be less stories and more horror-themed poetry/abstract concepts, so I just didn’t.... bother? But I’m glad people who enjoyed the plot aspects seem to have liked the ending! 

Critical Role- uhhhhh I’ll get back to this some day! I’m thinking of starting Campaign 2 from the beginning again? The stakes just got too high and I didn’t love what the group was doing, and it just got stressful instead of fun... but some early-days episodes might get me hooked again! 

Rick and Morty- I have to consume this show at a bit of a snail’s pace because the abuse and alcoholism can really get under my skin. I just recently started Season 5 and I’m working at it slowly. 

(secondary F/O sources under ‘read more’ so I don’t flood dashboards!) 

Black Butler- I did watch the whole anime but I was honestly more into the manga, which is still running! I read until I was caught up in 2015, but I just haven’t gone back into the fandom since then, although I still lovingly stroke the spines in every bookshop: maybe I should make an effort to get the new volumes from the library! 

Welcome To Night Vale- I listened to the first hundred episodes! Actually, the first 121, but it was more and more multi-episode arcs and I wasn’t into it, so I let it go. I need to go back and catch up on my Kevin dearest’s arc though :) 

Danganronpa- I was watching the Game Grumps playthrough and I finished the first game with them, but they were super halfhearted about the second game, so I only watched one trial, and now I’m waiting to have enough money to buy and play games 2 and 3 for myself! 

Mary Poppins- okay this might be an exception BUT I haven’t read the original books! 

Nightmare Before Christmas- a second exception BUT I heard terrible things about the new book so I decided not to read it! Does that count? 

Sandman- I’ve read the comics fully, including the follow-up comics after the initial run. However, I have NOT watched the TV show: Death looks great but I can’t get over how much they butchered Dream and I just can’t bear to watch any of the scenes with him in it, and he’s the heart of the damn series so it doesn’t feel worth it 

American Horror Story- I watched a few full seasons but got a bit tired with the ‘in your face’ style of horror in each season, and categorically refused to watch the Coven season for ‘raised pagan’ reasons. I watched House, Asylum, Freak Show, Cult, and Roanoke, but I really only enjoyed House and Asylum as full stories. 

And that’s the story of why I’m not caught up on any of my f/o’s origin medias! Thanks for reading to the bottom, it’s something I’m quite insecure about (like I don’t love them enough if I haven’t finished the original media for their sake) so I decided to write about it in a fun way!
