BMW Skytop, 2025. Shown as a concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in May this year, BMW have now confirmed a limited production run for their V8-engined roadster. Sales will be limited to 50 cars which have already been presold to "enthusiasts and collectors." Based on the existing BMW 8-series, the Skytop is powered by a 625hp 4.4-litre V8 that drives all 4 wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

What a difference 68 years makes juxtaposition of BMW 503 Cabriolet, 1956 & BMW Concept Skytop, 2024. BMW has used the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como to present a design study, an open two-seater for luxurious travel, in the style of the 503 from the 1950s. Like the 503 it is powered by  the most powerful V8 engine in the BMW drivetrain portfolio. BMW made 139 503 Cabriolets, losing money on the 503 due to high development and production costs, it resulted in heavy losses for BMW. There's no word on whether or the Skytop will reach BMW's showrooms.
