Guys. We do not bind with bandages (that's why I literally put multiple warnings about it in Clandestine). We do not bind with things that are not intentionally made for binding. We do not bind for long hours or with incorrectly sized materials. We do not bind unsafely.

Be smart. If you want to bind, do it safely. Meaning:

Use a binder or tape created for binding.

Remove tape correctly, so you don't hurt your skin.

Wash your binders according to directions of the company.

Buy binders/tape from highly-reviewed, reputable, (preferably queer-owned) companies.

Use the correctly sized product. Do not size down.

Use the product for the amount of hours suggested. Usually 8 hours for a binder for an adult and 6 hours for people under 18. AT MOST.

Change your binding routines in hot weather/during exercise. (As in, use a looser binder, bind for less time).

I know you want to bind and I know dysphoria is a bitch but please, please, don't be stupid. Make good choices. If you can't bind safely, find strategies to dress in a way that doesn't accentuate that area, like loose clothing and layering. But please don't make choices that could literally break bones, fuck up your back permanantly, etc. Not good, not good.

hey, so how do i bind safely (afab nonbinary)? i’ve only used ace bandages twice and they’re apparently bad for you anyway, i hate sports bras with a passion (they just seem to accentuate my chest more and i hate it), and i can’t get my hands on an actual binder (i’m a minor, living with parents. not inherently transphobic but they wouldn’t buy me a binder). i’m yet to see literally any other option besides sports bras. or maybe i’m just doing it wrong, idk.

Yes, ace bandages are extremely dangerous and should not be used to bind, ever.

As for what you can do, one is look for unpadded or high compression sports bras. They make those for athletes, and the padding in them may be why you’re unhappy with the results.

You can also try and get a binder to a friends house. You don’t even need to tell them what it is, maybe say something like it’s a surprise for one of your parents so you don’t want to order it to your house.

Another option could be trans tape. That’s also something you would have to order, as I don’t believe it’s sold in stores.

Compressions shirts are also made for athletes and could work for you.

Wearing a tight undershirt with a looser over shirt and layers can help, as can wearing black other dark colours.

GC2b, although I will warn that other people have noted a drop in quality over the last year or so. I ordered two more within that time frame, and while the stitching in the bottom hem of one did rip out, they've otherwise been of the same quality as my previous four, imo

but I should also say that I put mine through the washer and they are meant to be handwash only. I just don't have the spoons for that, so into the washer they go, then hang to dry. my last four lasted 2-3 years? before they got kind of stretched out and I ordered new ones

the stretched out ones still do okay, they just don't get my chest as flat because it's a looser fit now than a snug fit

a binder should fit "snug" ie, tight enough that everything is held firmly in place, kind of like spandex. it shouldn't be "tight" ie, digging into your skin, leaving red marks, making it difficult to breathe deeply, restricting regular movement, or causing pain

More memories. About the youth shelter this time. And my first time truly passing

Early on when in housing with the queer youth shelter. I was housed with a cisman as a transmale.

idea generation

for the first half of this term we must create at least three ideas and develop them. this is so that the best of the three can become chosen. i came up with seven in total. i believe i will use a few sentences to explain each idea.

the first is clown rescuer ranch; the premiss is that within the world of the animation clowns are not human but instead animals. due to their strange nature they have come close to extinction, thus requiring sanctuaries to keep them safe, sanctuaries such as clown rescue ranch.

the second is, the deep Forrest exploration (this is not the final name); this is the story of a doomed journey through a deeply forested valley. although aware of the strange dangers within the Forrest the two men persist with the journey. as they progress creatures become more like that of the deep sea and gravity itself becomes weaker.

the third is more loose and thematic without a binding idea but the concept is to show the cyclicals of nature. for example how turtles always return to the same beach their born in, how birds migrate over and over and how life itself repeats through reproduction.

the forth is nightmare power plan national park. the premiss is that a school trip is visiting the exclusion zone of a scientific disaster akin to Chernobyl. except the lab was trying to harness dreams to make energy. after the disaster however, anyone who has a nightmare within this zone has it come to life. hence a large amount of surreal creatures within this zone that has now become a national park.

the fifth idea is again looser and less formed. this idea has a cyclical format, following a playing piece in a boardgame played by a pantheon of strange gods. this character is doomed to be part of the same game over and over again.

number six is about a man who after falling into a rut following the death of a loved one is pulled through into a dimension containing all lost things. this dimension is made up of endless piles of forgotten junk overshadowed by giant monolithic concrete structures containing the interiors of buildings that no longer exist. the man must choose between escaping this place of holding onto the memory of their loved one.

the seventh idea centres around a world after humans have disappeared. a clan of crows now live within the ruins of new York, they have reached the stone-age technologically when one crow discovers how to make fire. at that precis moment a robot comes from the sky and warns of the perils of technology and how this discovery will cause a chain reaction leading to complete destruction. delivering its message the robot shuts down. the crow not speaking English dose not understand and flies off to show its clan.

out of these seven ideas i shall narrow them down into three next.

Hey @ people who bind: I'm looking to buy a couple of new binders, one to wear while at work (which is a physically laborious job so it'll need to be a "light" version that I've seen some brands have), and one that binds normally for whenever I'm not doing anything too physical or wearing it for too long. I still have the gc2b one I was gifted 6-5 years ago and it still fits almost perfectly, but I wanted to have a looser fit one that I can (relatively) safely wear to work. I also wanted to get a second normal binder just in general cause even tho my current one still works wonderful, it's nice to have a backup in case I forget to wash it someday or whatever.

Anyways, what brands do y'all recommend? I've heard a lot of good things about the Spectrum binders, both their normal binders and their light binders. I've also heard about Underworks, but it seems like most people I've read about prefer Spectrum to Underworks, but I wanna hear from y'all. Another brand I've seen mentioned like once was FLVNT(?), specifically that they offer swimmable binders, but I haven't looked too much into that one yet. I'm also trying to stay away from gc2b since I've heard they're still nowhere near as good quality as they were all those years ago

The Promise Conch

(analysis beneath cut - warning: long post)

-PROMISE CONCH PLOT RECAP-

The Promise Conch is an item that binds someone into keeping a pact, promise, wager, or vow. And the spell it casts can only be undone if the effected has possession of the conch.

It shows up in Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter where it's used by Salem to make a bet with Rose over who's the greatest singer. A bet that is put to trial with a singing contest in Watersong.

The winner of the contest takes the title of "Greatest Opera Singer in the World" and the looser will be spell bound into losing their voice for the rest of their life.

Salem wins the contest by cheating, and is declared the winner of their deal. Thus causing Rose to lose her voice. Watersong quickly weakens without the power of song. So, the hero must go on a quest for the conch so they can restore Rose's voice.

After Rose's voice is restored the Promise Conch winds up with Jowee; who vows to protect and support Mari as best as he can. Before he throws the conch into the ocean; sealing the promise he made and making it an irreversible one since the conch is no longer in possession.

And while this scene is the last time the Conch shows up, the effects it has are reoccurring and lasting.

-BREAING DOWN JOWEE'S PROMISE-

"I vow to protect and support you as best I can" -Jowee

Vow: a serious, sincere, and formal promise Protect: To keep one safe from harm Support: To agree with someone and assist them in a cause as best I can: putting forth 100% of their effort to… ^^

-EFFECTS IN NEXT CHAPTER-

Shortly after Jowee makes his promise to Mari she leaves to join Wilfre. Which causes everyone to search for her around Turtle Rock. Jowee being the last one to give up on the hunt. And when Pirate Beard confronts Jowee, and informs hims that they should give up on her; Jowee gets physically angry and lashes out at him.

Followed by yelling at Pirate Beard and the others for how quick they are to give up on Mari. Showing that Jowee keeps his promise and supports Mari even when she isn't there. And protect not only her- but also her title/public image.

And while Mari is away Jowee continues to refuse the possibility that Mari could have left. He accepts ANY excuse to put Mari in better light. So Jowee and the other Raposa don't lose faith in her (And most of his excuses point the blame to Wilfre)

Even with the betrayal of Sock fresh in Jowee's mind and being unsure about who to trust, he is quick to make an exception for Mari. Because she can do no wrong. Not when Jowee has no choice but to support her every move.

During the final chunk is where all the promises technicalities come in. Allows us a further idea of how Jowee's promise works/function. Jowee runs into Mari seconds after entering Wifre's Wasteland. Jowee instantly assumes Mari to be Wilfre in disguise; informing us that the promise doesn't allow Jowee to psychically tell that Mari is in fact Mari.

Nor can it allow him to understand why Mari is doing what she's doing.

Along with the fact he is unable to support Mari for things she doesn't entirely believe in. I specifically say "entirely" because Jowee can see what Mari actually believes.

The promise Jowee made is to support MARI as best as he can. Not who she's trying to be, or the ideas she's forcing herself to think are right. But to support Mari for who she is and what she believes in. And when Jowee expresses this support to Mari? It's what allows Mari to turn against Wilfre and help the creator destroy him. Followed by waking up Mike.

-EFFECTS FROM TWO REALMS-

Two Realms shows one key aspect of the conch shell… being the strings tied to any soul binding promise. And this one key detail is one that Mari has been heavily opinionated about since game one. Which is Jowee's love for adventure. A trait Mari is full heartedly against; she believes Jowee to be reckless, stupid, and oblivious to others when it comes to his passion. And that puts him at a constant risk of getting hurt.

But with the power of the Promise Conch? Mari no longer needs to worry about him. Because if Mari wants Jowee to stop adventuring? And for Jowee to have no choice but to support her if she means it? Means that Jowee is forced to let go of his love for adventure in Two Realms. The very thing that defines his base character… So he can stay safe and sound in Rapoville with Mari. And when Jowee does bring up adventuring to the hero? Mari enters and proceeds to tell Jowee that he "gives the worst advice"

Jowee's love for being in the outdoors? The wilderness? Heroic quests? The things that make him the cutest, most enthusiastically happy Raposa in town? The Promise Conch forces him to give that away… for Mari… because she disapproves…

So, instead of spending time in the middle of the wilderness he is forced to live Mari's life instead. And live her view of adventure that is so different from his own.

Jowee's promise wasn't a two way deal… it wasn't neutral… it didn't make him and Mari equals… It just made it so in Two Realms Jowee is nothing but Mari's support.

Because of a soul bonding vow he made with the Promise Conch. And his promise isn't something that can be broken….

…even if he wanted to he made sure to lose it at sea.

If you don’t want to or can’t bind for whatever reason and you still wanna pass:

Layers. They add a level of confusion that distracts people from your boobs. Invest in some lightweight/moisture wicking button up shirts for the hot months. You can usually find used ones for a few bucks at thrift stores, and if you’re willing to buy new from outdoorsy companies like Eddie Bauer they usually have the most lightweight and durable ones.

Stubble. If you’re able to grow facial hair but still like the look of a clean shaven face better, using an electric trimmer or only shaving at night can give you visible stubble while still mostly looking like you shave. If you have visible stubble people are more likely to read you as male even if your chest is a bit big. Experiment with what works for you. If you can’t grow facial hair but still want the look there are tutorials online for how to make fake stubble with makeup.

Sports bras. I usually use tomboyX or champions brand sports bras. Compression bras or shirts for post surgery can also be an option to reduce the size of your chest if those work for you. Don’t wear them to sleep unless you have to though. Be responsible. If you don’t like your breasts moving around while you sleep, try wearing a looser fitting sports or sleep bra or wear a tight fitting t-shirt.

Loose fitting clothing. Not so baggy that it looks like you’re wearing a sack though. That can actually bring more attention to the shape of your body. Just a little bit big. Not skintight. If you’re overweight and/or have smaller breasts you might be able to go without a bra this way depending on your body type. Experiment with what works for you and your needs

Good posture/masculine stance. Gamer posture doesn’t actually hide your chest as much as you think it does. Go through life acting like you belong where you are. Visible nervousness and trying to hide your chest brings more attention to you. Move more with your shoulders than your hips, observe how cis men move, and act like you belong there. It’ll actually help more than a chest binder in most circumstances.

Kinesiology Tape. NOT for everyone and very painful if done improperly. But you can tape your breasts to the side for a few days at a time with skin safe tape. Please for the love of god do your research first though and do NOT use packing or duct tape.

Good luck out there kids and always listen to your body! If you’re hurting yourself, stop that method.
