Hey y'all! I've been working on a vis dev project for my portfolio and thought I'd share the process for one of my bgs. It's not completely finished yet but here's a peek. Stay tooned for the rest!

Everything Everywhere All at Once - ANIMATED!?

Earlier this year Jermaine Jose and I started a collaborative vis dev project with the goal to do a 2D animated spin on three frames from a live action movie. I think they turned out better than I could ever imagine :D

I tackled the backgrounds, tumbleweed and bagel FX animations, as well as the VHS/CRTV compositing effect. Here's some of the bg work I did!

Jermz created some absolutely awesome character designs and his guidance through the whole thing was invaluable, such a fun project 💪

also I'll add this bc I feel like talking about art and sharing: with the rise of AI art (yuck), it's undoubtedly influencing the way I draw and create. I'm trying to embrace imperfections. I'm used to being SUCH a perfectionist with my art, trying to be as clean and clear as possible with my drawings. Now, I want to be more intentional with how "off" and wrong things could look- bad perspective, intentional tangents, SQUIGGLES, etc. I'm still developing and experimenting with this, but it has changed my artistic compass a bit. but yeah! fuck AI art and embrace the imperfections. It's what makes art compelling, and ultimately human.
