Hiiii! I’m hoping to visit New Zealand at some point this year, I just need to get a passport and a bit more money saved, I was wondering if there were any places you’d recommend going to and places to see and things to do? ❤️

how lucky are we to have you visit 🫶🏼 good luck with all the preparations!

it really depends on what you’re into but my recommendations would be:

- taupo, visit the lakes and the hot pools, also head up to acacia bay because the views are lush, the huka falls are quite a sight as well

- queenstown, this is the hotspot for tourists so it’s quite expensive but the lakes and mountains and breathtaking

- wellington, try te papa if you’d like to learn about NZ history, also things like the cable car and some of the walks (it’ll be very very windy so if it’s raining, do NOT bring an umbrella), the waterfront is stunning and there are multiple museums (p.s if you visit a museum and you encounter an exhibit depicting the deceased, there will usually be a stone bowl of sacred water outside for you to cleanse with- just dip your fingers and flick it over yourself)

- rotorua, interesting thing about rotorua is it was built with tourism in mind so there is an entire street of accommodation and an entire street of restaurants (with geothermal energy beneath to keep it warm all year round), plus you’re always within short distance of the next attraction (but be warned that geothermal means the whole city smells like a fart, you do get used to it)

- waiheke island, if you get the chance to go over, you will not regret it!

there are your obvious ones like hobbiton in matamata (imo way over priced), bungee jumping, glow worm caves at waitomo, but genuinely the best you’ll get out of this country is a road trip around one or both of the islands- i don’t think the views ever get lost on me after 25 years x

place i'm gonna miss forever: the restaurant where my family would go for breakfast on special occasions and i would always get the breakfast buffet even though my dad complained that i never ate enough to justify the price. and where my mom took me for lunch every time i had to get bloodwork done. and where my grandparents took me for dinner on my birthday. and where i worked as a hostess at 16 and the weekend breakfast rush gave me anxiety attacks and my 10 hour shifts definitely violates some kind of child labor law. and where the tourists who came through town always made me feel a bit shit about myself. i've never had a grilled cheese that tasted as good as theirs

Florida is uniquely lovely!

We went camping this weekend, and had a great time, and saw some of the peak of natural Florida!

This pine forest needs regular fires to release seeds and refresh the forest, so you see charred trunks from the controlled burns everywhere you go. It's a beautiful reminder of the natural cycles around us! I love it so much!!

Also these tiny red sundew plants are carnivorous and were all along the marshy bits of the path :)
