i think if a country is heavily car-dependent and the expectation is that every single citizen knows how to drive. at the very least drivers ed classes should be offered for free to, gosh i dont know, Everyone, regardless of age

The latest episode of The Race podcast discusses the importance of Daniel's feedback in driving Alpha Tauri's car/team forward in the second half of last year, and why prioritising Daniel's feedback will be vital for the team going into 2024 if they want to maximise and extend on the huge performance steps they made in 2023. They also had an interesting discussion on why Daniel's style of driving and feedback has opened up more development directions compared to that of had under Gasly/Tsunoda.
Gary Anderson: And then, suddenly, they're back to where they wanted it to be; with a driver in the car that could give them confidence that the feedback was reasonable. Daniel Ricciardo, whether he's got the speed he had before or not, he is a driver that's won some Grand Prix. So, he was able to give them the actual feedback. And it looks like they were able to react to it late in the season and made the car into a better package. So what was their main problem? I think it was a lack of confidence in what the drivers were telling them. They didn't really have that. And the changing of drivers, obviously, diluted their real development direction until they had confidence in the guy that was giving it to them, which was Daniel Ricciardo, but because of his broken hand, it took about longer than they thought. Edd Straw: Yeah, I think you're right there because the drivers prior to Ricciardo were all talking about that late entry instability that was a problem. Whereas, actually, Ricciardo was saying that's not a big issue for me, but I want the mid-corner to be able to rotate the car mid-corner. And that's partly because Tsunoda's kind of the last of the late brakers in his technique. He does like to do that - I think he said to me last year when I asked, I don't think I've ever seen a driver who breaks later than me. So that was definitely the direction.  So Ben, this is probably quite a good thing to prioritise, isn't it? Taking a development direction from the drivers, primarily probably Ricciardo and what Tsunoda learns from that. That's perhaps something this team has not always had a weakness with, but perhaps a narrowness, especially given that they really focused on what Gasly liked previously. Ben Anderson: Yes, and he was similar as well, wasn't he? One of the things that undid Gasly at Red Bull, was this natural desire to be the last of the late brakers and ask too much of the car at the early part of the corner. Edd Straw: Regularly he broke later than Verstappen and then was under-rotated mid-corner and interpreted that as poor traction at exit because the car was under-rotated. Ben Anderson: Exactly. So you can see how that might have become endemic at the sister team because Gasly's gone there to be the team leader and then Tsunoda's come in under him and learned from him. And so Ricciardo is giving them a different direction. I mean Horner talked about that, didn't he, at the end of last season, how Ricciardo's experience had given Alpha Tauri the direction that Gary mentions that's so important. Something they can really focus on building the car around, rather than just listening to the same driver complaints and not really being able to get anywhere with it.
Gary Anderson: Yeah, it's really easy to say these cars gather, you know, bucket loads of data every lap they do. So the engineers can analyse the data, but the data that the car is gathering and such, is only the data that's developed from how the driver's driving it. So as you say, if you've got a driver who's just the last of the lap breakers and breaking 10 metres later than anybody else, obviously, you're on a white knuckle ride getting the car into the corner and then as you say Ed, you know, you're going to get mid-corner understeer and snappy oversteer. And if you spend all your time trying to fix the latter part, the snappy oversteer, you just end up digging a hole for yourself. So you need to get somebody in there as I say that gives you the confidence that the data you're gathering is the data from a driver who has had experience and was able to drive a good car and win races. So yeah, it all takes time to do that.  Ben Anderson: I think there's also an element of transition through the rule change from the previous set of regulations to this ground effect here, if I understand it rightly. You've got a certain amount less control now over some of how the car transitions through the different phases of the corner aerodynamically because you've lost some of those top body surfaces that used to help you manage the airflow in a bit more of a calmer way. So if you have a driver like Gasly who's quite aggressive, obviously he came back into that team under a different ruleset, maybe they had a few more tools available to kind of build the car around that style a bit more. They've lost some of those in this new era and I think that's where they've struggled kind of working around Tsunoda's driving style. Ricciardo coming in with a slightly different take focused in a different place, maybe with a bit more desire for general stability in the car, they've been able to kind of refocus and that is helping them. So I agree with Gary, I think building around that and continuing that momentum is probably the most important thing for them, around the off track noise. Edd Straw: And that's certainly I think something the team is very happy with because they had a bit of a suspicion that they were maybe being sent down a bit of a cul-de-sac by what the drivers wanted. So Ricciardo's experience has I think broadened that and should help them all round.

It just occurred to me while I was doing my driving lessons. Smartass' daughter learning how to drive.
The other weasels are probably scared of Skartass teachers ngl her himself (they're used to his crazy driving, but they don't need another one!) So they try to offer to teach her too... except they probably wind up getting in the way instead (Wheezy's smoke, Stupid probably has no clue what he's doing, etc). Your thoughts?
OH YEAH! How is driving going?? That's so cool that you're learning to drive- I don't have any intentions to, because I like public transport, but I think the skill is so so cool.
Omg XD Toon Patrol weasels as Drivers Ed teachers:
Greasy: He can drive great! He's very careful!... he just cant park. He's always hitting fire hydrants, bumpers, and pedestrians. (Theres this really amazing fanartist who drew this panel of the toon patrol driving and crashing that you've probably seen before, and Greasy's just like 'Oh, I can drive!! *crashes* ... i never said I could park', and that has stuck with me XD)
Psycho: Nope. The keys are gonna go up someone's ass before they land in Psycho's hands.
Smartass: Smartass gives you bad advice XD Like yeah, don't worry, overtake this guy going a hundred miles an hour its fine. And yeahhhh, pull in just here in this handicap spot, we're busy today. And here hold the wheel for a second I gotta climb out the window and shoot this guy quickly.
Stupid: Yeahhhhh, he doesn't know what he's doing...
Wheezy: ... He can only teach you during the summer and spring seasons XD Why? Imagine with me- you're stuck in a car with Wheezy, the windows are up because its cold outside, and its all going fine. He's a good teacher and he's chill about mistakes! Its great! ... until, *cough cough cough* the car fills up with smoke and you cant see anything anymore! So yeah, Wheezy can teach you really well, but only with the windows down.

😭😭😭😭
How am I supposed to not like Draxum with scenes like this?!?!?!?
everything about it, Galois not wanting to disappoint Draxum, Draxum holding him closing and telling him all that matter is that he’s safe, the goyals being there. Draxum fr be sending my brain in a loop.
Tumblr media
As a side note, how dare you care about my education. When I’m in driver’s ed, there is nothing I would rather do than read a new chapter by you. :(
(I do appreciate you caring about our education but I have a love for dramatics and need to complain 24/7 about something)
love the new chapter as always <3
Hehe. 69% battery.
It was just Muninn with Draxum, he assigned Huginn to whichever search party wasn't being supervised by Tigerclaw and Cass. (he wasn't about to let her go off with any of them alone either) But Muninn was exerting extraordinary self-restraint in not joining in the group hug. He knew Draxy needed this though.
GET THAT EDUMACATION. AND PAY ATTENTION DRIVING IS IMPORTANT. If you're actually learning to drive, that is. When I took Driver's Ed the first week of the two-week course was literally nothing but 'don't drink and drive' scare tactics. That's not an exaggeration, we literally didn't do anything but watch gory videos and shit the entire first five days. Go ahead and read my shit then. (obviously don't drink and drive, but those tactics don't do anything, the people who end up drinking and driving won't take them seriously anyway)
On a side note, I think my inbox ate an ask again because I swore I had another one in here when I woke up this morning. If you sent me one in the last like...fourteen hours? Maybe send it again idk where it went.

"How Drivers Ed Can Help Reduce Austin’s Hit-and-Run Incidents | Travis Driving School"
Tumblr media
🚗💥 The Impact of Drivers Ed on Reducing Austin’s Hit-and-Run Incidents 🚨
Hit-and-run incidents are a growing concern in Austin, and they not only cause significant property damage but also lead to devastating personal injuries and loss. As the city continues to expand, it's crucial that we take steps to make the roads safer for everyone. One of the most effective ways to do this? Comprehensive drivers ed training. 🌆
At Travis Driving School, we believe that proper driving education plays a critical role in reducing reckless behavior on the road, including hit-and-runs. Our drivers ed courses go beyond the basics of operating a vehicle—we teach the importance of accountability, defensive driving, and understanding the rules of the road. The more educated drivers are, the more responsible they become, reducing the likelihood of panic-driven decisions like fleeing the scene after an accident.
1. Understanding Accountability Behind the Wheel
Many hit-and-run incidents occur because drivers panic in the heat of the moment and flee. At Travis Driving School, we teach students that accountability is key. If an accident happens, drivers need to take responsibility for their actions and prioritize safety over fear. Our drivers ed classes emphasize the legal and moral consequences of fleeing the scene of an accident, making it clear that staying at the scene and seeking help is always the right thing to do. 🛑
2. Defensive Driving Reduces Accidents
One major benefit of proper drivers education is learning how to avoid accidents in the first place. Our instructors at Travis Driving School stress the importance of defensive driving—staying alert, keeping safe distances, and anticipating the actions of other drivers. By mastering these skills, new drivers can greatly reduce their chances of being involved in a collision, which in turn lowers the chance of panicked, impulsive decisions that lead to hit-and-run incidents. 🚘
3. Building Confidence to Prevent Panic
A well-trained driver is a confident driver. Many hit-and-run cases involve inexperienced or unprepared drivers who panic when an accident occurs. At Travis Driving School, we build our students’ confidence behind the wheel, preparing them for real-world scenarios. This training helps drivers stay calm and collected in the event of an accident, reducing the likelihood of a rash, fear-driven reaction like leaving the scene. 💪
4. Educating Drivers on Legal Consequences
Part of our drivers ed program at Travis Driving School is teaching the legal consequences of driving infractions, including hit-and-runs. Many drivers are unaware of the severe penalties associated with fleeing the scene, which include heavy fines, license suspension, and even jail time. By understanding these consequences, drivers are more likely to stay at the scene of an accident and follow proper procedures.
Driving Responsibly with Travis Driving School
In a city as fast-growing as Austin, the importance of drivers ed cannot be overstated. At Travis Driving School, we are committed to creating responsible, well-prepared drivers who not only know how to avoid accidents but also understand the importance of accountability when they do occur. The more educated our drivers are, the safer our roads become—and together, we can reduce hit-and-run incidents in Austin.
If you're ready to take the next step toward becoming a safer, more responsible driver, join us at Travis Driving School. Let's work t

survey #183
Do you own a pocketknife, or any other kind of multi-tool? No.
What did your mother study at university? Social work. She graduated at ~60 and I'm so proud of her determination. Shatters my heart that she hasn't been able to use her degree though; due to Covid and her cancer, she never really got the chance to intern anywhere and she hates it so much.
What was the last thing you took a video of? That's a good question.
What are some of your least favorite foods? Brussel sprouts, asparagus, pulled pork & general southern barbecue (this does not include burgers and hot dogs, those I love), beans, fried chicken, carrots, celery, and A LOT more, I am so picky it's not even fucking funny. It's mostly texture stuff. The list would probably be the vast majority of food.
How old were you when you learned how to drive? Somewhere around 17? At least, that's when I took driver's ed. I never got my license and even my permit is expired by years.
Have you ever used a public pay phone? I don't believe so.
Do you know what the most common bird is in your area? Not really, no, but crows, robins, sparrows, bluejays, cardinals, and doves are a few that come to mind immediately.
How many teeth have you had extracted? Two wisdom teeth, both within the past year. They're thankfully the only ones I have.
What's a Halloween movie that you enjoy? Hocus Pocus is my favorite.
Would you ever walk a runway if given the opportunity? No, I don't want people focusing on me.
Would you say you're in a good place mentally? No; I am absolutely in a dip lately. I'm quite sure my body has stopped responding to my key mood stabilizer so I'm in the process of finding something else that works...
What's a popular candy that you do not like? Snickers, Tootsie Rolls, Mounds, Almond Joys, and Swedish Fish to name a few.
Do you bite your nails, cut them, or keep them long? So I actually have a habit of tearing them instead of either of these?? I really need to stop, because doing it often makes a tear too deep and will sometimes bleed, but it's a looooong-going habit.
Do you ever have to babysit? Not really, like I often go with my mom on Fridays to watch my niece (and other niece and nephew when school isn't going on), but I'm not the one taking care of her needs and stuff. I'm just there to interact.
Do you sing when alone? No, I barely sing at all.
Favorite pastel color? PINK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Favorite thing cats do? THE HEART EYES. If you've got an affectionate cat, you know what I mean: it's just this way they look at you, eyes mostly closed, and it's the most loving expression I've ever seen from any animal. I am also a massive sucker for affectionate headbutts, like I just love how expressive they are of bonds.
Butterflies, or dragonflies? I love both, but I'm fonder of butterflies.
Favorite kind of candy bar? It's a specific kind of Reese's that I don't see often; think of a Hershey's bar, but turn the squares into Reese's. It is fucking divine.
Favorite childhood store? oh I was a TOTAL Toys-R-Us kid. I was so mad when our local one got replaced with another store lol
Do you dream a lot? Do you remember your dreams? More like I have nightmares a lot. It's rare that I remember details long after awakening, but the general gist is basically always me being in danger but unable to physically defend myself; I usually wake up screaming at somebody. I say fucking awful things in my sleep, things I've never even said irl and never WOULD say, and it's extremely, extremely upsetting.
Have you ever lucid dreamed? I have once and only once and that shit between me and god lmfao
Have you ever intentionally killed an animal for fun? hi no I hope there's a special place in hell for a person like this
Did the person you lost your virginity to appreciate it? Well I haven't yet, but whenever it does happen I'm sure he'll cherish that I trust him enough for that. He knows I was abstinent most of my life.
What character trait are you most ashamed of? I am VERY impulsive, especially when upset. I've gotten better about it, but I've certainly said shit in the heat of the moment I wish I hadn't.
Do you prefer waffles or pancakes? Most of my life I strongly preferred pancakes, but I'm actually more into waffles now.
Are you craving anything right now? Yes, it's been a hot damn minute since I've had a soda and I am SUFFERING, like it's pathetic.
Are you content just blending in with the crowd? Yeah. I like to have some individuality about me, but I certainly don't want to stand out starkly.
Who is your celebrity crush? Richard Kruspe, yes he's very nearly my parents' age, and
If you had to choose a random color to dye your hair, what would you choose? Pastel pink. Hopefully one day... but my hair is so fucking reluctant to take color, especially pastels, apparently.
Do you like the color orange? Yeah, it's fine. I particularly like creamsicle-esque tints.
Have you ever shunned a family member or vice-versa? Yes, both ways.
Favorite shade of blue? Turquoise, probably.
Favorite soup? I haven't really had a soup I liked since I was a child.
Do you like mangoes? So I was pretty dumbfounded to discover I hate REAL mangoes, like they're so soft and mushy and it's disgusting, but I adore the flavor of mangoes, like it's my favorite type of juice.
What do you want most? A life where I'm truly happy. No real life will ever be without some sorrow, but I've got way too much in mine.
How is your mental health? Pretty damn poor. I'm absolutely back in a depression dip.
What are you thankful for currently? In this exact moment, notably my mom. I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do whenever her life's up, and it's a fear I have daily, knowing that her cancer will eventually re-emerge and almost certainly be her cause of death.
What’s an unpopular opinion you have politically? I am not pure ACAB; I support reform, and much of it, however I just don't believe cops are inherently bad. A gross amount are, but I do believe good cops with good intentions exist.
Name a song that’s fun to sing along to. lmfao I enjoy "Bartender Song" by Rehab a lot for this
Who is tallest in your family? Uhhh... probably my brother Bobby?
Do you currently have a headache? No, thankfully. One thing not wrong.
What's the first thing you usually do when you get off work or school? When I used to be in school, I immediately did homework because I wanted it out of the way.
If you could be famous for anything, what would you choose to be famous for? Taking a really iconic photograph with a very obvious, strong message.
Who is your favorite YouTuber? Of all-time, Markiplier, but these days I've been most actively into Game Grumps and John Wolfe.
Who is the nicest person you’ve ever met? I dunno; I know a good deal of very nice people.
How about the meanest? That *I* personally know, my old friend Colleen. She was so fucking hateful and just generally unpleasant, and the kind of asshole who was a garbage individual to people in customer service, and over NO good reasons. The only reason I ever stayed friends with her so long was my own loneliness; at a time she was the only person outside family I ever, ever saw/did things with. That and I give people way too many damn chances, like our friendship broke apart many times prior to the final "okay I'm done."
What was the last thing you spoke to your mom about? I asked her what she went to Food Lion for.
When is the last time you felt appreciated for something you did? Ummm, I'm not totally sure at this very moment. Well actually probably yesterday; Girt came by after work and he had food ordered and I got it in for him, I know he appreciated that, even if it's just a small thing.
Are you the type of person who gets straight to the point? HAHAHA NO, I ramble like a MOTHERfucker, even when I totally don't intend it.
Do you enjoy playing board games? I actually really don't, they're just not very fun to me. Like some are okay, but I'm not having a great time. Way back when when Girt and I were just friends and he'd visit occasionally, we had a routine of generally playing board games, and honestly I don't miss that lmfao. I do enjoy Battleship though, and that's one we'd play a good amount.
Are there any movies you are wanting to see? THE FUCKING BARBIE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😭 ugh no one wants to go with me and it sucks SO hard, I am absofuckinglutely seeing it when it comes to televisions, though.
Do you feel uncomfortable when people you hardly know confide in you? Honestly not at all, I'm very open to anyone confiding in me if they feel safe to; you never know if that person has really been holding shit in, and they see something in you they haven't in others.
What’s something you’re proud of yourself for? Coming as far as I have in healing my legs.
Have you ever gone over 3 months without shaving/waxing your legs? It's been like... three years, dude. I keep them covered always though, just because of societal expectations; my hair is extremely dark and anyone getting even a glimpse of them mortifies me. I stopped as my body got so unhealthy that shaving them became so exhausting and challenging that I just. Couldn't keep up with maintaining them. I want laser hair removal on my legs one day.
Have you ever swam in a saltwater pool? Yes, the pool for physical therapy was saltwater.
Do you think anyone has given up on you? At least three people, probably more.
Have you ever been pregnant? No.
Have you taken anyone’s virginity? Obviously not, given an earlier question.
Have you ever made your boy/girlfriend choose between you and someone else? No.
Do you remember when some of the Walmarts had a McDonald’s in them? Well yes, our local one has exactly that.
What is one recipe that you would like to learn how to make? This upcoming Thanksgiving, I want Mom to teach me how to make the fresh bread she did last year; it was the best bread I'd ever tasted in my entire fucking life and I want to know it for my own future. I need to learn way, way more basic cooking, though...
Do you believe that Jesus will come back in your lifetime? He never is.
Were you afraid of heights as a child? No, but I am as an adult.
Have you ever had a lead role in a play? No. Well, I super faintly remember being Mary in a Sunday school thing, but it was just an in-class little thing. Gotta love teaching little girls about a mystically impregnated virgin pre-teen.
Do you have a chandelier in your home? No.
Are you a Jeffree Star fan? Or no? Yes, he's a public figure that to me has exhibited more growth than any other human I've been exposed to. There are behaviors I disagree with, but no person is all white or all black when it comes to being a moral or bad person.
Do you own a guitar? Specify. Which brand of guitar do you own? I no longer do; I had an electric guitar from a brand I can't recall (nothing impressive, very basic), but I sold it to a parts shop when I was trying to scrounge up money to afford my newest tattoo.
Are you a monogamous person? Or do you hate commitment? I personally am, but I have no problem with polygamous individuals, so long as they're open about this with their partners.
Who was the last person who was rude to you? My mom; a few days ago, something she did/said made me cry for a while.
Have you ever met someone in person that you first met online? Sara, yes. There are a number of other long-time online friends I want to physically meet one day.
Who do you know who is dyslexic? I feel like I remember hearing that my niece Aubree is? She's autistic and I at LEAST know Mom has said she exhibits traits of it.
Is weed legal in your state? No, NC is behind in the times in MANY regards.
What is something that you used to be ashamed of, but now you’re not? As a child, I became very embarrassed by my obsession with Pokemon because I was a girl and it was "weird;" it's because of this I never asked my mom for games and I never wanted anyone to see me explore the Pokemon website. As an adult though, I'm totally open about my love for the franchise, I know partially BECAUSE it's so loved nowadays. Even as a pre-k kid, my embarrassment reaction was SO insanely strong and I never, ever wanted people to see me as a weird girl. I still carry that behavior today, just with different stuff.
Have you ever held a newborn baby? Yes, when my youngest niece was born. I was seated though, I was way too scared to hold her otherwise.
Out of all your usernames for websites, which one is your favorite? Do you use it for more than one site? Ozzkat, it's the classic and what I use for the majority of places.
Have you ever spent the whole day (or multiple days) just looking up one thing on the internet (e.g., videos of your favorite band, how-to videos, quizzes, etc.)? hi i hyperfixate and do this shit regularly
Have you ever been in a situation where you had to be around your ex everyday? No. Well I mean, when Sara and I were still in contact, daily RP posts normally happened, but that was just a website.
Which condiment (ketchup, mustard, etc.) do you use the most of? Probably ketchup. It's funny, I hated ketchup as a kid.
Would you ever flirt with somebody in front of your parents? With my significant other, yes, so long as it wasn't too suggestive, 'cuz then it's just weird.
Have your parents ever questioned your virginity? I know my mom has. Dad probably assumes I'm not, but idk, I certainly don't talk about this with him.
How many of your friends play World of Warcraft? I have no idea; I have friends I know through the game, so obviously them, but I'm not sure if I have any "in my real life" friends who currently play. I know numerous people who have.
Is there a certain song you like to headbang to? No; surprisingly, headbanging has never been and probably never will be my thing. I don't like headaches.
Is there a garage or carport attached to your house? No.

How to choose a good driving school Melbourne?
Get behind the wheel. Are you ready? Hence, you must choose a reputable driving school Melbourne. If you want to have a positive experience learning to drive, picking the appropriate driving school is crucial.
It's important to enroll in a reputable course provider that can be relied upon to provide you with a strong foundation. The process of maturing into a responsible and safe driver takes a lot of time. If you're serious about getting behind the wheel, you should enroll in only the best driving school.
We'll help you figure out which driving school is right for you and why in this blog post.
Tumblr media
1. Do research to find a reliable driving school Melbourne
Sometimes, it's hard to know how to go about selecting the most excellent driving school there is. As a learner driver, you should take your time in selecting a driving school to ensure that you get the most out of your investment and establish a solid foundation in safe driving. Considering all the possibilities, this investigation may be demanding.
Finding a licensed driving school Melbourne is the first order of business. After narrowing your search to a few schools that match your needs, you should do some independent study on each one. For this, you can use resources like the internet and personal recommendations from people you know who have attended these schools.
Read reviews and testimonials from satisfied customers to get a feel for the school's culture. By doing so, you can determine whether it's a good match for you.
2. Check out user feedback on various websites
It's not easy to choose a driving school Melbourne. Thankfully, you can simplify the process by reading reviews on the internet. It's important to choose a driving school with plenty of glowing testimonials from satisfied students. So, it is important to study and read them thoroughly.
To make a well-informed choice, it's crucial to have access to first-hand accounts from former students. The following are some of the most crucial considerations that may be illuminated by reading online reviews:
The effectiveness of lessons on safety procedures
Indicators of customer satisfaction with service
Pricing ranges for driver training are one consideration
Searching for driving course reviews is also recommended. This will provide you with insight into the quality of the instruction. So, you can determine the extent to which it will help you become a safe driver.
Furthermore, look into social media groups and online discussion groups that focus on driving-related issues. They may give you a new viewpoint you won't find anywhere else.
Tumblr media
3. Find one-on-one lessons
It's important to search for a driving school Melbourne that can cater to your specific needs and those of your teen driver. If you want to improve your driving skills and obtain specific feedback on your areas of strength and weakness, private lessons are the way to go.
Find out whether individual driving lessons are available from each driving school you're considering. Because when attending specialized classes for safe driving, the option to modify the curriculum to better suit your requirements is crucial. Courses with such a high level of specificity sometimes need to be taught at a more leisurely pace and in more depth than is typical.
You should look for schools that provide organized programs. And as such, your driving instructors can give you step-by-step explanations of any subjects that you find particularly challenging. This method guarantees that the learner driver has a firm grasp of the concepts presented.
4. Check out the deals they have on driver's ed
To get the most out of your driving school experience, it's crucial to choose the right one. When choosing a school, it is important to consider what it has to offer. Most Melbourne-based driving schools provide a variety of lesson plans to suit the needs of different drivers.
Try to find solutions that are geared to your unique situation and degree of expertise. Hence, if you want to take a full, individualized driving course, you should seek out schools that provide that option.
Always ask what is included in the price of a driver's education package to ensure you are getting your money's worth. The package must include comprehensive strategies for defensive driving and other aspects of road safety education.
The total course duration should also allow for a sufficient amount of behind-the-wheel instruction time. You'll feel comfortable and capable behind the wheel after completing this.
Tumblr media
5. Explore the premises and get a feel for what they have to offer
You shouldn't take chances when it is time to choose a driving school. To get a sense of what a driving school Melbourne has to offer before enrolling, prospective students should pay a visit to the school.
To ensure that an instructor is available when you are, check the school's website and class schedule beforehand.
The next thing to do is to go to the driving school in person to get a feel for the place. This includes:
Examining the classrooms for their comfort and friendliness. Evaluating the presence of digital resources that may be utilized in a hands-on manner during instruction.
You may greatly improve your driving abilities by making use of the most recent technologies that are available for practical training.
6. Have a conversation with the Instructor
Selecting the most suitable driving school for your requirements is crucial. You should spend some time getting to know your school and your instructor before diving headfirst into classes. It's best if you can talk to the teacher face-to-face or by phone.
The instructor must be qualified to teach new drivers in your state and provide documentation of their certification. Inquire as to their background and training to ensure they meet your needs as an instructor to help you with the driving test.

we're on a road to nowhere, would you like to come along
back with a house of wax fic. maybe it's because i can't drive myself but i find the whole debate about vincent driving really interesting. anything in bold is sign language and when bo is speaking, anything in bold is when he signs at the same time. more notes in the tags.
When he was 17, Vincent learnt to drive on the fields behind the Sinclair house, with Bo as his teacher.
Their parents wouldn't let him anywhere near their car, wouldn't let him take drivers ed classes at school, told him it was too dangerous for him to drive when he was half blind. That, of course, was probably true, but it didn't stop Bo driving them far enough from the house that they could practice unseen.
"A man needs to know how to get around on his own," Bo insisted, hopping out of the truck when they were far enough away from the house. He walked around to the passengers side and opened the door, shooing Vince across to the drivers seat.
Tentatively, Vincent moved over, keeping his hands away from anything that seemed important.
Bo jumped back in the truck, with Vincent eyeing him warily.
"Are you sure about this?" Vincent asks. As much as he resented his parents not allowing him to learn like Bo did, there was a deep worry in his chest that perhaps they were right, and they'd be proven right by him totalling Bo's truck in an irrigation ditch.
"You ain't backing out of this one, Vince. You gotta learn, can't have you bein' the only kid at school who can't drive, even the goddamn Johnson boy takes driver ed and he's been in junior year as long as Ah've known him," he says firmly. He doesn't wait for Vincent's response before beginning to explain which peddle was which and pointing out the blinker and gear shift and parking brake.
Vincent tried to take it all in, mentally cataloguing all of this information and silently dreading the moment when Bo would tell him to get going.
After a while of theory, Bo was getting bored, he wanted to get moving, wanted Vincent to learn properly if it was the last thing he did.
"Right, okay," Bo began, "We gon' get going now, now take the -- no look the, the middle..."
A few stalled starts later and the truck was trundling over the uneven scrub, Vincent holding onto the steering wheel with white knuckles and a clenched jaw.
Bo, laughing and whooping in the passenger seat, was far too jovial at Vincent's bambi-on-ice attempt at driving, "You're doin' it! You're - You're doin' a good job, look at ya!"
Slowly, Vincent relaxed, the vice grip on his heart loosening as he drove in wide circles around the field. He was almost - almost - enjoying himself. The control he got from being behind the wheel.
For a while they drove around, they were directionless. Every so often, when Bo sensed Vince start to flounder, his hand reached for the wheel to steady it.
"Ease up on the gas if ya need to," Bo says.
Vincent grunts in response, unable to pry his hands of the wheel to sign even if he wanted too.
Soon the afternoon light was beginning to fade and they had to get a move on, or else they'd be late for dinner and momma wouldn't be happy about that.
"We ought to get on back, we gotta switch," Bo nudges Vincent's elbow, gesturing broadly for him to stop the truck.
The truck stalls again as Vincent botches the brake but ultimately the truck shudders to a stop and Bo tuts, "Hey, you're gonna kill my transmission!" There's no venom in his voice.
They switch seats and Bo drives them back to the house, turning the radio on now that Vincent is safely back in the passenger seat.
When they get home, their momma hollers at them for going out without telling her where they'd gone.
"Just into town momma," Bo mumbles, head down as he washes up for dinner at the kitchen sink.
"I wanted to look for some new paint, momma and Bo drove me," Vincent agrees, leaning over the sink while Bo still had the faucet running to wash his own hands.
Their mother seems satisfied with their answer as she carries the last pan of food to the table. "Bo, go and call your brother for dinner, he needs to wash up before he sets his ass down at this table."
Bo nods, drying his hands and heading to the front porch to yell for Lester, who he could only presume was skulking around in the dirt.

COMFORT SHIP IMAGINES
My sibling and I each have pairs of comfort characters that happen to be ships, usually in Canon or widely accepted through the fandom. If you have those as well, here you go
-imagine playing in the rain with A, shrieking and laughing as the rain soaks you bith completely to the bone, while B watches patiently with warm dry towels by the door, smiling.
-imagine learning to drive and anytime you move forward or hot the brakes a little to hard A grabs the 'oh shjt' handle while B just reminds you of what you learned in drivers ed.
-imagine having a nightmare, and A soothing you by running their hand through your hair and rubbing your arm, whike B hums because they hate it when youre afraid.
-imagine coming home from school after getting in a fight and A reminding you of your self worth while B leaves to find the kid.
-imagine joyfully teaming up with A in defense of the favorite food you both share but B doesn't understand at all, and you all playfully debate the food.
-imagine being sick, puking, shivering, liquid sjits, fever, the whole shebang and A staying home with you whike B runs out to get more medicine and foods that won't hurt.
-imagine introducing them to your SO and A being secretly very judgmental of them but appearing calm, whike B just glares at them and makes sure that they really love you.
-imagine taking them to your school and showing them everything you're working on and are proud of and them being blown away because "when did you get so smart?" while A ruffles your head and B takes a million pictures.
-imagine feeling like you've failed at something and A immediately assuring you that you didn't while B nods along because how could they have missed you thinking that?

As a licensed riding instructor and creator of numerous on-line schooling packages, my aim right here is to assist shed a few light on your options.

I will no longer handiest display you my pinnacle choose for taking driving force’s ed on-line, but I will offer you with opinions and numerous specific online driver’s ed colleges to pick out from. As long as you pick out one of the on-line driving schools I’ve vetted, chances are pretty darn precise you’ll be a happy consumer.
Taking driver’s ed on line may look like a overseas idea to those people who are old sufficient to have teenagers, but agree with it or no longer, taking driver’s schooling on-line is clearly a extremely good way to head.
As a riding teacher, I fast noticed the energy of online driver schooling even as creating truck driving force schooling packages for expert CDL drivers. Even us adults appear to hold statistics higher when going through online training.
For teenagers, it’s second nature. While all teens learn otherwise, taking motive force’s ed on line is nearly like 2nd nature to most of them. It’s interactive, they are able to move at their very own pace, and skip fees are typically much higher than taking motive force’s ed in a classroom.
So, without similarly postpone, right here are my top eight alternatives for the high-quality online drivers ed publications in 2022.
No doubt, DriversEd is one of the satisfactory online motive force’s ed courses to enroll in in 2022 in case you plan to take driver’s ed on line. What I without a doubt like approximately DriversEd is how the route is prepared. It’s as if they have a few sort of thoughts-analyzing tool which can inform while the path begins to get dull. As soon as I started losing interest, they would change it up by using having me play a recreation, watch a video, animation, or maybe make digital riding choices. Really creative how this direction is put together.

I can use public transportation as much as I have money and choose to live somewhere with good public transportation.
I can legally be financially independent from my dad (I can make a bank account without having to link his, and I can get a credit card)
I can choose what hours I work
I don't have to wait for my dad to go to the store to get food (and I don't have to suffer when the house runs out and they keep eating our without thinking of me)
I can move out and not say a word
Now that I moved out my parents income doesn't have to be considered for the FASFA (if you even live near your parents it's considered it's so stupid)
I can figure out what services I need on my own terms (he is no longer the guy deciding how my health is and how I'm treated)
I can make a living and dead will on my own (living will is if you're in a coma or something and can't decide stuff for yourself)
I can start college when I feel ready without having to get approval (or a ride)
I don't feel as pressured to do things (even little things) because I'm out of the house
I realized I don't have to live alone to be an adult
I can learn to drive on my own terms (still mad about the drivers ed tho)
I feel happy and not anxious when going anywhere out of my room
I can choose my own wardrobe and fashion and not feel judged (gender expression!)
And so much more!
adulthood gets such a bad rep and like yeah, a lot of adult things do suck (thanks, capitalism). but i do worry about what constant complaints about adulthood do to depressed kids and teens who feel trapped and sort of like adulthood is the only way out of their current situation.
so let me tell you, in case you haven't heard this ever, that in my experience, being an adult is 100x better than being a kid or teenager. being able to more or less control my living space and who i spend time with, being able to prioritize my health and wellbeing, being able to be who i truly am and pursue my interests and hobbies... all of that is worth the other dumb stuff, and none of it was possible when i was a minor. honestly, I've just gotten happier and happier the older I've gotten.
being an adult is GOOD. and it can be good for you too.

hi! i'm 20 and am in the process of getting my license currently. i had a crippling fear of driving when i was 16/17 (i'd have a panic attack almost every time i went driving) and it's taken a long while to get over it/learn to manage my anxiety about driving.
I started out in parking lots before anything else. Small ones, like my elementary/middle school or a library parking lot, preferably in the morning. We started with turns and it was like "Okay we'll only do right turns today" and another day it was "okay now let's work on making the turns smoother" and that sort of thing. In the parking lot we also worked on parking, backing in, pulling out, 3 point turn and attempted parallel parking a handful of times. One day we went through the buttons like the windshield wiper and he had me incorporate that while driving.
I have yet to go driving with an instructor (since 2017) so rn I just have my Dad. After 2-3 weeks in a small parking lot we went to a larger parking lot that was for an office building. Then we went around the loop 'cuz this area was just a big circle around office buildings. Thanks to the bigger area and then being on the road I got to work on keeping my speed consistent and knowing when I need to start braking and slowing down.
Another day, he had me do a circle that goes back to an elementary school in a nearby neighborhood. I had a few stop signs, which was good practice. This was my first time ever doing stop signs on the road and not just "we're in a parking lot but pretend there's a stop sign".
One day he had me back out of our driveway (we have a parking slab) and drive down the street and through the neighborhood. We working on backing out and pulling into the parking slab 5 or so times. I'd say I drove through/down 3 different streets in my neighborhood. This was good because most of them are cul-de-sacs which have islands you have to drive around, sort of like a roundabout.
Then, he took me out to a different neighborhood which had narrower streets, so I had to be more vigilant (there were mailboxes, recycling boxes, cars parked that I had to maneuver around, kids playing and people walking) and it was scary at first but the more I did it the less nervous I felt. You learn to trust yourself, and you have to as a driver.
He took me to a nearby shopping center where I pulled out from the parking space, and went on the road and he directed me as we drove. That one wasn't to specifically practice any one particular skill, I was at the point where I just have to throw it all together.
Most recently, we went to another neighborhood only this one has wider streets but steeper hills, so I had to be even more mindful of my speed. There were some tricky points around it like a yield sign- where the lanes of traffic was shaped like a Y, is the best way I can describe it. I went sort of on a highway for the first time, 40 mph and then had another yield sign.
In the beginning I struggled with getting to a consistent speed and not going 10mph like I was in the smaller parking lot, but now I can comfortably go at 25-30 and it doesn't feel as scary. I'm finally starting to go on actual roads with more cars which is scary but as I build up confidence I'm less nervous. Here's what helps my driving anxiety:
1. You have to know you are in control. This is why I struggled so much before, was that I didn't trust myself and felt the car was more powerful than me. But you control it, you control the speed and where you go, you are always in control of the car.
2. Accept that it's scary. I dunno if you've taken driver's ed yet but they showed us scary videos about car crashes in hopes that we'll take it seriously, I suppose? Accept that you're scared. And then lean into how you feel, okay i'm scared (say it aloud) but I'm going to take this one step at a time.
3. Practice deep breathing during driving. This is something i've only recently started to do, but it's necessary when my heart starts racing. Also talk aloud, ask questions, just keep talking. I go silent when i'm anxious, so talking helps distract my mind.
4. This just a fact- The more you do it, the more comfortable you will be. I've gotten familiar with how my car feels, and with each time I go driving I learn a little bit more and gain a little bit more confidence.
That's all i've got for now 😅 There are probably reddit posts that have tips for driving with anxiety. I hope I helped! You've got this!!
what are some good tips for dealing with driving anxiety?? i’m 18 and i have my permit but i don’t have my license and due to certain things i’m gonna have to learn pretty soon but the idea of it terrifies me. i do wanna learn how to drive and take that next step but anytime i get behind the wheel i get anxious and idk any good ways to help alleviate that fear.

More tips from a Canadian:
- I live in the country and drive 40 minutes to an hour to get to college every day. I keep a case of water (check that it hasn't expired - YES BOTTLED WATER DOES EXPIRE), a bag of road salt and/or sand and shovel (to help get me out of the ditch or unstuck), candles, granola bars, matches (more reliable than a lighter in cold weather and you get more for your buck), and extra blankets, hats, and mitts in the car on the off chance that something happens and nobody can get to me for a while or I end up in the ditch.
- Going in the ditch is a real concern. I worked on a roads crew the last 3 summers and the new ditches we built can be pretty steep and deep, depending on where they are. If you know the area, or you have spent time there in the summer/fall/spring, make note of where the ditches are shallow and have a gentle curve. I've ended up in a steep ditch before (in the summer luckily) and it totalled my vehicle (the spot where I was hit didn't help either). The roads with shallow ditches are where you want to drive, especially at night. Also, those deep ditches make it hard for a plow to see you (normally the people out even in really shitty weather) and I have seen cars completely cover in snow from a plow. If you're inside with nothing to eat/drink and no cell service, you're not getting out easily.
- On the topic of roads to drive on as well, dirt roads are your friends, especially when there is a chance that the road might be ice covered. The gravel generally doesn't freeze like a flat road surface will and will give you more traction. Second best option? A tar and chipped road. It won't be as good as gravel but it'll be better than a paved road. My family's travel routes change completely in the winter.
- If you're learning to drive, learn how to skid. Living in Canada, we have a skid school in our driver's ed, and you can't pass the entire course unless you pass the skid school. If not, I'll tell you what to do:
1) don't panic, panic is your enemy
2) take your foot off the gas BUT DON'T TOUCH THE BREAK!!!!! The break will cause your tires to lock up and make it impossible to steer.
3) look the direction you want to go and steer that way. When you're panicked or stressed, you always steer the way you're looking so don't look where you're going. LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.
4) let the vehicle slow naturally and get out of the skid before driving normally again. Do not over correct as your come out of the skid, just ease back into normal driving. If you over correct, you'll likely end up back in a skid.
- If this ^^^^^ isn't possible because someone is coming towards you, go into the ditch, IN A CONTROLLED WAY. Your vehicle will protect you. But get out fast and make sure people can see you/your vehicle.
- I know it's been said, BUT GET WINTER TIRES. Even living in Canada, I still hear people saying that they don't do anything. THEY DO. At 4 deg. C and below winter tires grip the road better than all season tires. Don't be that idiot.
- Where I live doesn't get super cold (we get a few -30 days though) but our problem is the wet which my dad, who grew up in the North where it's drier and colder, says is worse. We all have winter boots that are water proof and warm to -30, and I've gotten in the habit of wearing my rubber boots with polar fleece inserts when it's not super cold but it is super wet. Basically what I'm saying is DON'T SKIMP ON THE WATER PROOFING. If the cold doesn't kill you, the wet will.
- If you have to dig yourself out of something or make yourself a snow shelter, don't make yourself sweat. SWEAT KILLS. It can freeze to your body, trick you into taking off too many layers, and drains you of water. Take your time, especially if you aren't going anywhere fast.
- Learn the number for your local roads crew, especially if you live in the country. Cops don't always go out in really bad weather but roads crew always (at least where I live) has someone working, even in the middle of the night. If you get stuck, call them. If they have someone on the roads plowing, they'll know to keep an eye out for you and might be able to help pull you out or at least help you in some way.
A brief and ugly summary of surviving cold climates
For visitors and writers alike.
You were never meant to be here. Never forget this. You are an ape of the equator, built to run the savannah and swim in tropical waters. Whatever terms and conditions your body has, they are void here. Mother nature never certified to function in a Death World.
Enduring the cold is never a matter of “how much” as much at it is “how long”. Think of it as the water levels of the vieogames you have played. No matter what equipment enables you to remain longer, you can’t stay there indefinitely. The coat that keeps you warm and toasty for three hours in -15 is enough to keep you functional for an hour of -40.
Whatever the locals say, listen to them. Err to the side of caution if you must. You may not endure what they can endure, but you SURE AS FUCKING NOT cannot survive what they say cannot be endured.
That being said, alcohol is a filthy fucking liar and so is anyone who offers it to you. The warmth it gives is an illusion, and a sign of damage. You are worse off feeling comfortable with a mouthful of whiskey as you are freezing your gonads off stone cold sober.
Winter tires. Studded winter tiers are a MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH when you drive on a frozen road. That being said, whatever the locals tell you that your car will need to run as theirs do, take it. Taking the risk of being pranked is worth survival, and you can always stab their tires in the spring if they were shitting you.
Eat. For the love of god, make sure that you eat. Heavier meals might be unpalatable at first for someone used to lighter nutrition, but maintaining bodily warmth in a cold climate takes up a lot of energy, and you will feel tired and drowsy for a long while shile your metabolism adjusts to producing more heat than Mother Nature ever intended. The skinny people in your party are especially vulnerable, ensure their well-being on a regular basis.
If you have a smartphone/other essential technology on your body, keep them close to your body to keep them warm. They were not designed to be frozen any more than you were.
Sleep is death. SLEEP IS DEATH. Never, ever stop to rest in the cold, if you do not have the means to make a fire/otherwise produce heat. The cold tires you out because keeping warm takes energy, but taking a rest will not return your energy. If you feel the need to sit down and rest because you are tired because of the cold, call for help. This is not a hyperbole, if you feel like you are too tired to go on in a cold climate, CALL A FUCKING AMBULANCE. If you fall asleep in the snow, you will not wake up. Hypothermia can and will literally kill you.
Avoid skin-to-snow-contact if you can. It hurts because you were not supposed to do it. Consider ice to be like acid. Touching is bad for you.
Feel free to add to the list if you feel like I missed something.
