Mastering BAS Preparation: A Complete Guide for Businesses
Tumblr media
Introduction to BAS Preparation
Business Activity Statement (BAS) preparation is crucial for Australian businesses to meet their tax obligations. It involves recording and reporting GST, PAYG installments, and other tax-related information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Effective BAS preparation is crucial for maintaining compliance and avoiding penalties.
Importance of BAS Accounting Services
Professional BAS accounting services play a significant role in helping businesses accurately prepare and lodge their BAS statements. These services streamline the process, reduce errors, and ensure that businesses meet their tax obligations on time.
Key Components of BAS Preparation
BAS preparation involves several key components that businesses must accurately report:
Goods and Services Tax (GST): GST is a comprehensive tax levied at 10% on the majority of goods, services, and other items sold or used in Australia. Reporting GST collected on sales and claiming credits for GST paid on purchases are integral to BAS preparation.
Pay As You Go (PAYG) Withholding: PAYG withholding involves deducting amounts from payments made to employees, contractors, and other entities and remitting these to the ATO. BAS preparation includes reporting the total amount withheld during the reporting period.
PAYG Installments: PAYG installments are periodic payments businesses make towards their expected annual income tax liability. BAS preparation requires businesses to calculate and report these installments based on their projected income.
Other Taxes and Obligations: Depending on the nature of the business, other taxes such as wine equalization tax, luxury car tax, and fuel tax credits may also need to be reported on the BAS.
Steps in BAS Preparation
Step 1: Gather Financial Records
Collect all relevant financial documents, including sales invoices, purchase receipts, bank statements, and payroll records.
Step 2: Calculate GST and Other Taxes
Separate GST collected from sales and GST paid on purchases. Ensure all calculations are accurate and comply with ATO guidelines. Additionally, identify and calculate other applicable taxes such as luxury car tax or fuel tax credits.
Step 3: Determine PAYG Withholding
Compile payroll records and calculate the total amount of tax withheld from employee wages and other payments.
Step 4: Complete BAS Form
Using the information gathered, accurately complete the BAS form provided by the ATO. Double-check all figures to ensure accuracy.
Step 5: Review and Lodge BAS
Review the completed BAS form for any discrepancies or errors. Once verified, lodge the BAS statement with the ATO by the due date to avoid penalties.
Benefits of Professional BAS Accounting Services
1. Accuracy and Compliance
Experienced BAS accountants ensure all financial data is accurately recorded and reported, minimizing the risk of errors and ensuring compliance with tax laws.
2. Time Efficiency
Outsourcing BAS preparation allows businesses to focus on core activities while professionals handle time-consuming administrative tasks.
3. Expert Guidance and Advice
BAS accountants provide valuable insights into optimizing tax positions, maximizing deductions, and navigating complex tax regulations.
BAS Agent Services
Businesses can benefit from engaging BAS Agent Services for their BAS preparation needs. These services offer specialized expertise in preparing BAS statements and ensuring compliance with ATO regulations. BAS agents are registered professionals who provide comprehensive assistance in managing tax obligations efficiently.
Choosing the Right BAS Accounting Services
Factors to Consider
Experience and Expertise: Look for BAS accounting services with a proven track record in your industry.
Reputation: Seek referrals and read reviews to gauge the reliability and trustworthiness of the service provider.
Cost: Compare fees and services offered to ensure they align with your budget and business needs.
Benefits of Hiring a BAS Agent
Professional Qualifications: BAS agents are registered with the Tax Practitioners Board, ensuring they possess the necessary qualifications and adhere to ethical standards.
Timely Lodgment: BAS agents ensure BAS statements are lodged accurately and on time, avoiding penalties for late submission.
Peace of Mind: Entrusting BAS preparation to professionals provides peace of mind, knowing compliance and accuracy are prioritized.
Conclusion
Mastering BAS preparation is essential for every business to fulfill its tax obligations and maintain financial transparency. By leveraging professional BAS accounting services and BAS Agent Services, businesses can streamline operations, minimize tax risks, and focus on sustainable growth and development.
Summary
BAS preparation involves reporting GST, PAYG installments, and other taxes to the ATO.

2. Eye contact across a crowded room
From blossoming romance writing prompts!
Friend I've been waffling on this ask for days because I had way too many ideas and couldn't settle on just one ahahha. I hope you enjoy the one I did eventually pick! blossoming romance writing prompts
---------
Morpheus absolutely hates flying.
The seats are too small for his long, spindly legs to comfortably stretch, the food options are limited and often terrible, and there is almost always a crying child somewhere on the plane.
But flying is a necessary evil for a popular book author, especially when he goes on tour promoting his latest novel across the US. His agent tries her best to book as many trains as possible for his trips across various cities, but the Amtrak only goes so far, and for some cities, it is even more expensive and longer than a flight.
So Morpheus grumbles and complains, but ultimately goes where he’s told.
He is on his last flight, the one that will take him home to New York City, and he is miserable. His initial flight was too early, and then later delayed, which caused him to miss his connecting flight. It is hours before he is able to board the next one home.
When Morpheus finally lands, he is itching to leave the plane. The itch grows and grows until he is finally in the terminal, bleary eyed and under caffeinated, wanting nothing more than to drop dead in the passenger seat of his agent’s Prius and slumber until she drops him off at his condo.
But as Morpheus exits the terminal, he does not see Lucienne anywhere. He looks left, then right, then out past the areas where she would normally be.
Panic flares in Morpheus’s mind. Where is she? Is she all right? Is it possible she got held up in traffic? But no, even on the worst of days, Lucienne has never once been late to meet him in his arrival home. Morpheus frantically scans the airport lounge once more, anxiety building as he continues to fail to see her.
But then his eyes land on Hob Gadling, and Morpheus’s entire world halts to grinding stop.
Hob is another agent at Lucienne’s agency, and Morpheus knows that he and Lucienne are close. Morpheus and Hob have spoken a total of six times, all at publishing events at Lucienne’s behest, and Morpheus guards the memory of each interaction like a dragon jealously guarding its hoard of gold.
Hob does not see Morpheus right away, but it is clear that he is looking for someone. Morpheus tries to remember if there were other authors on his flight, wonders who it is Hob is waiting for, fighting back the urge to fantasize that Hob is here for him.
When their eyes finally meet from across the terminal, Morpheus feels as if a live wire has run through his whole body.
Hob has always been an expressive person, and even from more than 20 feet away, Morpheus can see the other man’s surprise slowly morph to recognition and then finally into unrestrained delight. He raises a hand to wave at Morpheus, clearly trying to get his attention, as if Morpheus hadn’t already spotted him. As if Morpheus could possibly ever miss the most brilliant and shining man he’s ever met.
The rest of the airport fades to background static as Morpheus glides through the crowds of people, determined to move his feet to get to Hob, to reassure himself that this is real and not a dream.
When they finally reach one another, Morpheus practically folds himself into Hob’s open arms. The other man smells like aftershave and coffee, and it’s only then that Morpheus realizes Hob has a to go cup clutched in one hand.
“Car service for Mr. Endless?” Hob asks cheekily, handing Morpheus the to-go cup. Morpheus takes a cursory sniff before sipping cautiously. The coffee is hot, but not so hot that it burns his tongue, and it has just the right amount of milk and sugar in it.
“You are not Lucienne,” Morpheus notes, his own lips quirking upwards, not quite into a smile, because he is still exhausted and miserable, but somehow, Hob’s smile is keeping the worst of it at bay.
“Yeah, about that…” Hob trails off, then sighs. “Her sister went into labor about 3 hours ago. Bit earlier than expected so she had to leave suddenly. She was trying to arrange a car to get you, but well, I happened to be around and I remember you hate getting in strange cars so, here I am.”
“Here you are,” Morpheus says, voice full of wonder.
Hob’s returning smile is brighter than the sun. “Let’s get your bags sorted then, shall we?” he asks. “I’ll take you to breakfast too, if you’re up for it.”
“I would like that,” Morpheus answers, already planning for how he can convince Hob to take breakfast at his condo instead.

He was used to the roughness, the bruising force and the taste of blood on his lips. Letting himself be used was nothing but a simple manipulation tactic for his gain. A kiss from Mobius was a balm, soft and slow and tender. It was overwhelming.
AKA, Loki doesn’t know how to accept romantic sexual intimacy.
You can also read below the cut!
“Sex, Mobius,” Loki idly played with his pen, twirling it between his fingers. “Is a currency, nothing more.”
“It doesn’t have to be that way.”
The pen came to a halt, his eyes snapped up at the admission, but Mobius wasn’t looking at him. Instead, he nonchalantly skimmed over the words on the paper without a single flicker of emotion, body loose and confident. The only give away was the dissatisfaction in his voice, and perhaps a hint of sadness.
“What?”
Mobius’ eyes fluttered back up to him, his brows scrunching up slightly, and then he let out a sigh.
“I guess that’s what sex is for some people,” He started, voice simple. “But it could be something more. A trust exercise, even.”
Loki scoffed. “A trust exercise?” He chuckled, crossing his arms across his chest and leaning back in his chair. “That is ridiculous.”
The corners of Mobius's mouth quirked up, but the rest of his face stayed neutral, almost disappointed. Loki shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
They fell into silence after that. Loki was sure it was a tactic to get him to spill his feelings, but he would rather be pruned than talk about feelings. Mobius returned to his work, seemingly uncaring, but Loki knew better. He was waiting.
Loki wasn't going to play along. He didn’t owe him anything.
He would wait.
Wait.
Wait.
Loki cleared his throat.
"Well," Loki said, breaking the silence. "You could say it's the same concept. It is a currency, you could trade it."
"That's not the same."
"I disagree.” Loki smiled with wild eyes. “You can trade your currency for goods, services. You can give it to someone else, or keep it for yourself. It can be used for selfish gain, or a kind gesture. In the end, the transaction is what matters."
"It doesn't have to be that way. People don't need to be so... transactional. That's not the only way."
"That's not true, Mobius. The TVA is proof of that. You take people and give them purpose, a reason to exist. To work, to live, and in the end, you kill them. That is a transaction, Mobius."
"What are you trying to say?"
"People don't do anything for free, and even if they do, it’s no longer a transaction. It’s a lie."
Mobius was still for a second, and then he put down his pen and looked up at him. "What do you want, Loki?"
The question caught him off guard. He was prepared to argue, to defend his opinion and his truth. He didn't know how to respond to a question, let alone one that was asked so earnestly.
He thought about his answer, truly thought about it. What did he want? Why was he so insistent on his view of sex? Was there a reason, or was he simply being contrary?
The answer wasn't as hard to come by as he would have expected.
"I don't know. I just-" Loki shook his head, frustrated. "I know what I like, and that's all I need."
Mobius hummed in acknowledgment but didn't speak. "Why are you so concerned with my sex life, anyway?"
"I’m not.”
"Oh, please. You've been trying to get me to fuck you ever since you got here. " Mobius accused, and the blunt words sent a shiver down the Asgardian's spine. "If you're so sure you don't want anything from me, then why do keep acting this way?”
"Maybe I’m curious."
"Or maybe you just want to feel in control, to get the upper hand. It's not the first time, isn’t it?"
"It's not-" Loki inhaled sharply, clenching his fists. "It's not like that."
"But it was before. You tried to whore yourself out to me just to steal my Tempad." The agent said sharply, and Gods, it was as if they were right back in that time theater. "I know you. So, what changed, Loki?”
Loki did not respond. Instead, he looked down at the papers below him, thinking what changed? Was it when Mobius so bluntly and respectfully denied him back in the time theater, or the way Mobius was staring at him right now, his eyes searching, needing to know what Loki was thinking?
His thoughts were interrupted when Mobius abruptly stood from his desk, haphazardly pushing in his chair.
"Follow me," He said. And that was it.
Loki stared after him, confused. He didn't move. "What?"
"Come on, Loki." He called out, walking out the door. Loki scrambled to his feet, following him down the hall.
"Where are we going?" Loki asked, walking two steps behind the other.
"You have zero patience."
He scoffed. "How could I possibly have patience when you are leading me to Gods knows where."
"Oh, relax." He turned the corner and made his way to the elevator, and Loki followed, watching the agent's every move. "It's not the first time you've had sex."
Loki felt the tips of his ears heat up as he stopped walking for a split second before his body kickstarted again, his heart acing as his mind caught up with Mobius’ words. There- there's no way this is actually happening. Except, it is. This is real, Mobius was finally going to give this to him. And the thought was... exhilarating.
The elevator opened, and they stepped in. Mobius pressed the button for the lobby, and the doors closed. They were quiet as the elevator descended, the silence almost overwhelming. Mobius didn't look nervous or excited, he didn't look like anything. His face was unreadable, but his body was relaxed. He was a picture of calm, and Loki wanted to scream- to ravish him, anything.
"We don't have to do this," Mobius said after a moment, his eyes flicking over to the God. It struck him the wrong way, the glimmer of thoughtfulness, the hesitation. He was no stranger to the bashful Midgardian’s he had taken, ruining them for anyone else.
Sex with God was nothing short of divine, and Loki could understand that even the mere thought for some was overwhelming. But never has anyone asked if Loki was unsure, or held the same genuine care in their eyes as this simple TVA agent did. Except, Mobius was not simple. If he were simple, Loki would have already pleasured him beyond comprehension, except…
"I want you," Loki replied immediately, his voice sounding more desperate than he intended. "I do."
"Okay," Mobius said simply, and the elevator came to a stop. The doors opened, and Loki followed him out, his mind racing with what was about to happen. His heart was hammering in his chest, and his hands were shaking, but he wanted this. They walked through the lobby and out of the main building, towards the cluster of apartments that had been provided for the agents. Mobius led them down the rows of buildings until they reached one that was close to the edge. Loki had never been inside any of the apartments before, the idea that Mobius lived in a space outside the TVA was strange, to say the least. He knew the rooms were small, but he was eager to see it anyway.
Mobius took his keys out and unlocked the door, opening it and gesturing for Loki to enter first. He did so, stepping inside and looking around. The apartment was small, but cozy, with a small kitchen and living room, and a short hallway that led to what Loki assumed was the bedroom and bathroom.
"It's not much, but it's home," Mobius said, closing the door behind them and walking over to the couch. "Do you want anything to drink?"
"You did not bring me over for drinks, Mobius." Loki smirked, looking down at Mobius under his lashes. "Though,” He cocked his head to the side, unbashfully taking in the other man. “I’m rather thirsty for something else.”
Mobius rolled his eyes, a hint of a smile gracing his lips. "I'm sure you are." He said, reaching up and cupping the back of Loki's neck and finally pulling him down into a kiss.
It wasn’t electrifying or even unfamiliar, but it was still unlike anything else, the press of his lips soft and tender. Loki sighed into the kiss, wrapping his arms around the other's waist and pulling him closer. He could feel Mobius's hands running up his back, gripping his shoulders. He shivered, letting his own hands roam up and down the agent's sides. Mobius's mouth opened, and Loki deepened the kiss, licking into his mouth. They pulled apart for a second, and Loki looked down at the man. His pupils were blown wide, and his lips were shiny with spit.
“I adore you.” Mobius whispered, and Loki froze for a split moment, something jagged and ugly twisting in his chest that made him furrow his dark brows.
He didn’t want to think about it right now. Instead, he surged forward, pressing their mouths together once again. The agent was more than happy to oblige, kissing him with an urgency he hadn't expected. Mobius was gentle, but there was an intensity there that made Loki's skin burn.
Loki pulled away, giving the other a small little smirk. “Should we move to the couch?”
Mobius chuckled, then shook his head.
“No, you deserve something nicer than that. How am I supposed to properly worship my God from a raggedy old couch? My bedroom is down the hall.”
Loki blinked with parted lips, taken aback.
His God.
"Is that okay?" He asked, his eyes searching. Loki could see the concern etched into his features, and the realization hit him like a truck that Mobius was genuinely checking in.
"Yes." Loki said, his voice coming out a little breathless. "Of course.”
They make their way to the bedroom, their hands clasped together. The room is small, but neat, and there's a bed pushed against the wall.
Mobius guides him to sit on the bed, his hands resting on Loki's thighs. He leans down and kisses him, slow and languid. Loki wraps his arms around the agent's neck, pulling him closer. He can feel Mobius's warm hands on his body, slowly moving up his thighs and then back down. He shivers, pulling the agent closer. They break apart, and Mobius looks down at him, his blue eyes dark. Loki stares back, his mouth open slightly.
"Are you okay?" Mobius asked.
"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" Loki raised a brow, a challenge in his voice. The agent merely shook his head with something Loki didn’t quite understand and leaned down, trailing his lips along the God's jaw.
"You're beautiful." He murmured, his hands finding their way under the Asgardian's shirt, gently pushing it off his shoulder and discarding it to the side. It wasn't the first time someone had called him beautiful, and it probably wouldn't be the last, but he couldn't help the way his chest tightened at the admission. It felt different, more intimate, and it brought that ugly feeling back in full force, a shrill cry in his head.
This is not how this is supposed to go.
Mobius trailed kisses down Loki's chest, his tongue flicking out and tracing the scars. Loki inhaled sharply, his hand coming up and tangling in the agent's hair.
"You didn’t deserve these,” the man whispered, his lips brushing against his scarred skin. “You’re so strong.” Mobius fixed him with a look.
Loki squirmed underneath the weight of Mobius' bright eyes, suddenly finding himself pinned by them. There was something in his look that made Loki want to hide, but there was nowhere to go, no way to escape the care that showed there, so vulnerable and open. Mobius' hands were firm, but gentle on Loki's waist, holding him in place as he hovered over him.
"You still okay?" Mobius asked, his breath ghosting over Loki's lips.
Loki swallowed thickly, his mouth dry and his head spinning, and nodded.
Mobius' hands slid to Loki's neck in an instant, gently cupping his jaw as he kissed him. The touch was so light it made Loki shiver delightfully. He could feel every little brush of the calloused pads of Mobius' thumbs as they stroked along the curve of his cheeks, the way a hand slid up to thread through Loki's hair and tugged just hard enough to make his eyes flutter closed and part his lips to let the other in deeper.
He was used to the roughness, the bruising force and the taste of blood on his lips. Letting himself be used was nothing but a simple manipulation tactic for his gain. A kiss from Mobius was a balm, soft and slow and tender, his mouth gentle against Loki's as he pressed closer and focused solely on making Loki feel good. It was overwhelming, to be kissed like this, to feel every ounce of love that Mobius was pouring into it like he was someone worthy of being cherished, of being worshiped.
Mobius' teeth scraped across Loki's bottom lip and he outright moaned, trembling when the other responded in a light hum.
Loki broke the kiss with a soft sound, resting his forehead against Mobius’. The agent’s eyes were wide and dark and searching as they locked onto Loki's, looking for any sign of hesitation.
He was fine. It was just a kiss. A very good, very thorough, very nice kiss. A kiss he had never quite experienced in this way before, that shook him to his very core. Loki's chest felt like it was on fire, his head was swimming, and he couldn't quite catch his breath, but he was okay.
"Do you want to stop?" Mobius asked. And, Gods, why couldn’t he just stop caring about him?
He had that look again, his eyes full of concern. Loki didn't know how someone could be so open, could look at him like that. He could feel it, the warmth of the affection in Mobius' eyes, the trust in his touch. He didn't know what to do with it. He wanted it, desperately. But it was terrifying to be looked at like that, and he didn’t know if he deserved it. If he deserved him.
Loki didn't trust himself to speak, so he shook his head and hoped that was enough. He couldn't tell if the smile Mobius gave him was sad or not, but he wasn't given much time to think about it because Mobius was kissing him again, his tongue sliding across Loki's. He was still being so gentle, his kisses careful and almost too sweet, making Loki ache.
"Please," he begged, not knowing exactly what he was asking for, but knowing that he couldn’t decide whether or not he needed Mobius to keep touching him, keep kissing him, or release him from the torture.
"Talk to me, Loki." Mobius whispered. He was breathing heavily, his eyes searching and his pupils blown. “You don’t have to beg. Tell me what you need.”
Loki didn't know, and that bothered him, especially now. He didn't know how to want anything like this. He didn't know what it was to truly crave anything, not in the way that Mobius did. Mobius was all open words, wearing his heart on his sleeve and driven by curiosity- nothing like the self-hatred that pushed Loki to do every awful thing he did to prove that he was meant for something- that he had worth. That he was more than the monster he truly was.
But here was Mobius, looking at him like he was something precious, someone worthy of being loved. It was…overwhelming.
"I don't know," Loki admitted, his voice shaking.
He didn't know what it was to desire anything outside of violence, outside of bloodshed and pain and punishment. He’d always been hungry for power, but that’s the last thing he wants right now.
"That's alright," Mobius said, smiling and stroking Loki's cheek with his thumbs. "We don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with."
"I am comfortable," Loki said.
"Are you?" Mobius asked, raising his eyebrows.
Loki frowned. He could hear the doubt in his own voice, the tremor that he knew betrayed his nervousness.
"It's okay to not be sure about this, Loki," Mobius said, brushing a strand of hair off of his forehead.
"I am a God, I am never unsure." Loki muttered- a lie that Mobius chuckled at.
"It's a little different with this kind of thing though, don't you think?"
"I suppose," Loki admitted.
"You're not used to being close to someone this way.”
"Certainly." The God replied. "I'm usually trying to kill them- or they have ulterior motives."
Mobius smiled sadly. “I know.”
Loki felt like he was being cut open, every nerve laid bare. He didn't know how Mobius could do that, just look at him and know, understand, and accept him. He supposed eons of studying- watching him, probably helped. Mobius probably knew exactly what was going to happen as soon as Loki propositioned him. That bastard.
"Tell me what you're thinking," Mobius asked, sitting up and settling himself beside the other man. Loki sighed and let his head fall back against the pillows, his eyes fluttering.
"I'm thinking," he started, and stopped, taking a deep breath and forcing the words out. “That I’m not quite ready for this.”
Loki didn’t know what he expected Mobius to do, maybe be disappointed and leave him be. But giving him a wide grin certainly was not that.
“What?” Loki asked, quirking up a brow and studying the other man.
“Nothing,” Mobius smiled, and Gods, wasn’t it lovely. “I’m just proud of you for telling me.”
The Asgardian rolled his eyes with a scoff, sitting up and settling across from the agent. “For what? Admitting that I cannot handle something as minuscule as sex? That is hardly anything worth such high praise.”
“Ehh, maybe,” the man shrugged. “But I don’t think so.”
“Why not?” Loki asked incredulously. “I-” And when Mobius fixed him with that look again, the one that shot right through him, Loki paused.
“Sometimes the strongest thing someone can do is admit when they aren’t ready for something.”
Loki was quiet then, and he appreciated when Mobius said nothing more, simply letting the God think.
And then, Loki let out a sigh.
“Is that why you didn’t want me?” He asked, his voice low and downcast. “Because I can’t give you this?”
“Loki, no.” The agent spoke earnestly. “Of course I want you, I always have, more than anything.” Mobius flushed, an endearing little splotch of pink. “But I know what you need, and it isn’t…a transaction.”
Oh. That’s what he meant.
Loki hummed.
“…I am not accustomed to this. I don’t know how to allow myself to be loved by you, and I’m positive that I do not deserve it.” He said bluntly. Mobius frowned at that, but sat silently.
“However,” Loki continued, “I’m willing to try- I want to try.” He corrects. “Just…slowly.”
At that, Loki took the other’s hands into his own and pressed a tender kiss to his knuckles, taking delight in the way the agent’s cheeks lit aflame and diverated his gaze. It was heartwarming that Mobius got so flustered over such a simple gesture, and it soothed a wild anxiety lingering in his chest.
With a smile, Mobius looked back up at him, his blue eyes bright and full of something akin to wonder. He was positively beautiful.
"Slowly." He promised, pressing a kiss to Loki's temple. "We have all the time in the world.”
“If it’s no trouble, I’d quite like that drink now.”
Mobius snorted.
“That isn’t familiar at all. Of course.”

hiiiiiii!! i don't have the brain to do or watch anything atm but i would LOVE some movie recs please 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
YAY ok assuming this is coming from the 80s movie post so. here r some of my favorite 80s movies:
ridiculous campy fun:
earth girls are easy (1988) - fucking LOVE this movie!!! such a fun time. horny aliens crash their spaceship on earth + get taken in by a human woman. also it's a musical comedy + the aliens are played by jeff goldblum jim carrey and damon wayans
hell comes to frogtown (1988) - also. obsessed w this one. post-apocalyptic world where society is a matriarchy + humans need 2 repopulate. protagonist is a Manly Man who has been discovered to have a Mega-High Sperm Count, making him a government asset so a sexy military doctor locks him up in a chastity cage 2 conserve his precious sperm. also there are mutated frog people + they kidnapped a bunch of ~fertile~ human women to keep as sex slaves so Manly Man needs 2 accompany sexy military doctor + sexy soldier to go rescue the ladies from Frogtown so he can fuck them <3 also his name is Sam Hell. hence. 'hell comes to frogtown'
clue (1985) - based on the board game!! murder mystery comedy w wacky characters + an ending that is oh-so-fun
weird dark fantasy:
the company of wolves (1984) - the movie that inspired my 80s movie post 2nite <3 creepy fairytale retelling of red riding hood w a bunch of stories-within-a-story so that it ends up feeling like some sort of fever dream matryoshka doll
labyrinth (1986) - one of my FAVORITE movies of all time!!!!! david bowie is a goblin king who kidnaps the protagonist's baby brother as a favor 2 her + then when she's like actually i want him back he's like ok solve my maze then <3
return to oz (1985) - sequel to 'the wizard of oz' that is like. 10 times darker + weirder + creepier + definitely scarred me + my twin when we watched it as children lol. dorothy won't stop talking abt oz so she's taken 2 a mental institution for electroshock therapy. queue dramatic storm + sudden return to oz except the city is in ruins + dorothy needs 2 save the day
horror:
aliens (1986) - sequel to alien (1979) which just missed the cutoff for making this list + i also recommend--but u don't NEED 2 watch it 2 watch this movie. outer space creature feature meets slasher survival horror. xenomorph i love u <3
the thing (1982) - another sci-fi alien horror but this time it follows a group of researchers in the arctic who encounter an alien that can change shape 2 look like any of them. queue paranoia. there's also a more modern remake of this movie if i'm not mistaken
day of the dead (1985) - probably romero's least well-known zombie movie lol but a fun one nonetheless! good if u like 80s movies + zombie movies which. i do <3
the shining (1980) - oooh artsy spooky hotel horror.....a classic to be honest....
animated:
the last unicorn (1982) - ANOTHER favorite movie of all time for me!!!! unicorn who lives in isolation in a forest overhears two humans talking about how there are no more unicorns in the world + is like what i can't be the only one left...so she sets out on an adventure 2 try and find out what happened 2 all the unicorns <3 another movie that scarred me as a child bc of how creepy + dark it was
nausicaa of the valley of the wind (1984) - studio ghibli <3 this is one of my fave ghibli films. post-apocalyptic wasteland where giant bugs roam the earth....amazing
castle in the sky (1986) - more ghibli! girl w mysterious magic necklace meets boy who is searching for castle in the sky. also they are being chased by pirates + creepy government agents. FUN
kiki's delivery service (1989) - aaaaand more ghibli. teenage witch sets out 2 make her way in the world + encounters existential dread <3
classics:
heathers (1988) - veronica decides that she's sick of her mean-girl popular friendgroup + at the same time meets Mysterious New Boy. when she complains 2 him abt her friends he starts killing them <3
the princess bride (1987) - based on the book (which i also recommend!!); i feel like everyone knows this movie but. basically fairytale-esque romance abt a girl named buttercup who falls in love w a farmboy named wesley but then wesley gets murdered by pirates...or so it seems....
ferris bueller's day off (1986) - teenagers decide 2 skip school + run amok in chicago. wahoo!!

marauders x atla/lok AU -- remastered.
I’ve been rewatching atla with my bf recently, which really put me in the mood to revisit this old idea. So I present you a brand new fanart of Peter, Remus, Sirius, James, Lily and Snape (from left to right) designed as atla/lok characters. Also, have an additional sketchdump with some scenarios and whatnot.
Some further unreasonably detailed ideas:
James is an earthbender/metalbender, the only son of famous metalbending acupuncturists. He is also the pro-bending team captain of the Zaofu Saber-tooth Moose Lions. His teammates are Kingsley (firebender) and Xenofilius Lovegood (water/swampbender). He has a very obvious crush on Lily, non-stop trying to impress her with little gifts and dangerous stunts. He is a clever and resourceful prankster. His metalbending master was McGonagall, who is deep down a little disappointed that James became a pro-bender instead of a detective. She watches all of his matches anyways.
Lily is a non-bender from Republic City, who is a chi-blocker and a herbalist. Her childhood friend is Snape who also shared an interest in herbs and poisonous plants. Lily started learning chi-blocking because Snape became way too invested in bloodbending. She is secretly a pro-bending fan and is very fascinated by James’ seemingly failed attempts at flirting. She is estranged with her sister as Petunia hates benders. Lily developed a friendship with Sirius over both of them sharing a complicated relationship with their siblings. She bonded with Remus over their interest in healing.
Sirius is a powerful firebender who owns a motorbike. He met James while trying to fix a stubborn loose screw and they’ve been inseparable ever since, pulling off various shenanigans. He has an unlimited number of parking and speeding tickets. Because of this, he's been sentenced multiple times by Police Chief McGonagall to perform community service in Republic City’s Power Plant generating lightning. His family originates from the richest Fire Nation colony governors, who managed to maintain their noble status and money, but also their traditionalism. They enrolled Sirius to the Fire Nation Army so he could become a high-ranking officer as expected, but he eventually deserted to find real adventures. He still wears his military uniform jacket as a memento.
Remus is a waterbender who has a strong connection to the wolf spirit of the Forgetful Valley. As a little kid he was bitten by a venomous animal possessed by a dark spirit and became very sick. He could be eventually healed by the water of the lake the wolf spirit drank from that season. Hence during full moon his waterbending abilities are charged with the wolf spirit’s energy, forming the shape of the wolf’s head during attacks. He needs to drink from the Forgetful Valley lake waters during lunar eclipses unless he becomes sick again. He works at an animal clinic as a healer. He is dating Sirius, but they are both very awkward about their undeniable feelings.
Regulus is a firebender working as a double agent for Republic City’s Police and Triads. He is involved in various triad business, gathering information and handling pro-bending bets. He is quiet and introverted as opposed to his brother Sirius whose powerful bending abilities and fearless personality gained him quite a reputation. They are not in speaking terms with each other, even though they often get in trouble together when Sirius eventually interferes with his little brother’s operations not knowing he is a double agent.
Peter is a seemingly weak earthbender from Ba Sing Se who cares more about culinary delights than anything else. However, he is deeply involved with Triad business, handling bets, spying and other illegal activities. During a turf war his hand was injured, so he wears a Dai Li rock glove to cover it. As he looks rather harmless, prefers to hide his bending abilities and leaves a general cowardly impression of himself, no one really suspects that he is in fact a spy and a smart player.
Snape is a waterbender prodigy, who also knows much about poisons. He is still obsessed with Lily, even though she has ended their friendship when he demonstrated his self-taught bloodbending abilities on her sister. He spent years researching bending forms and developed his own techniques hoping to win Lily’s trust back. As a result, he is able to bloodbend without a full moon which is his preferred style despite knowing all other sub-forms of waterbending. His talent sparked the interest of Voldemort.
Voldemort is an energy bender who, alongside his mother, was attacked by an enraged snake spirit. His mother died, however he survived due to his awakening energy bending powers, somehow sealing the snake spirit into himself thus enslaving it as his servant. In exchange, his face developed snake-like features. He could turn spirits into dark spirits and seal their power into himself. He planned to find the next Avatar (Harry) so he could rip Raava out of him, corrupt and seal the spirit into himself. He believed this would make him the most powerful being on the world, as then he would gain the bending powers of the Avatar.
Dumbledore is an airbending master and spiritual guru. He has a pet phoenix spirit. He is the grand master of the White Lotus and the unofficial guardian of the spirit portal of Republic City. His main priority is to protect earth citizens as the new Avatar will be born as one of them. However, his master plan is to reconnect Raava and Vaatu and permanently fuse both of them with the Avatar, as only this could bring true balance.
You can find more atla/lok AU content with old ideas here, here and here. Anyone who is willing to write or somehow contribute to this AU, feel free to tag me. I’m in so deep, I might even draw more.

'Di ko na alam ang aking gagawin pa Ako'y kuntento na basta alam kong tayo'y humihinga pa Sa dami ng pinagdaanan ay hindi ko na Alam kung paano pa ba ako magiging masaya - Nyebe, SB19
TRANSLATION
I don't know what else to do I'm content just knowing that we're still breathing After all I've been through I no longer Know how to be happy
Evangeline just needed a bit of time.
It was practically a pre-shift ritual for her already.
Clock in, get changed into the shabby uniform that she's sure hadn't been cleaned save for the one time she took it home then go through the back of the bar and curl up between the cooler and the drum filled with rice to cry as quietly as she could.
So she does exactly that the moment she had everything handled.
The floor was awful, the scent of the kitchen was overwhelming and she was alone since she was always so goddamn early.
Pressing the heels of her hands to her eyes, she could feel the tightness in her throat and her breath begin to become shaky.
A whimper leaves her lips.
She's been doing this job for four years now and it never got easier for her. It started out fine enough. Sure she didn't like drinking alcohol ever. And loud noises actually overwhelm her. And drunk men could be awful and rude and just—
Okay it was pretty bad even from the start.
But she managed kinda fine back then, right?
She could feel the burning of tears in her eyes.
Letting out a choked sob, Evangeline tried to muffle her noises by curling in on herself further.
Right?
She remembered managing to plaster on a smile easier, waving off drunk men's crass words and flighty hands, standing through both the verbal abuse hurled at her by angry diners and by her boss any time something displeases him.
But now?
Now she felt like she was stretched thin. Like her body was heavy with weariness and every bike ride to The Trinket was a never-ending journey.
The saltiness of the tears that had managed to stream down to her lips was a testament to her psyche.
The fact that she'd need to even have a breakdown in the kitchen before her shift just to function like a normal person shows how she had crumbled.
She didn't want to do this anymore.
You're weak.
But with how hard it was to get a job after not even finishing college?
She was stuck.
The realisation was enough to make her feel ill.
"Ate Angeline?" Daniel's hesitant voice broke through her sniffling.
Shit.
Wiping away any tears that might have still been streaming down her face with shaking hands and sniffled breaths, Evangeline rose up from the spot she'd curled up to cry while keeping her face turned away from her eighteen-year-old workmate.
When she managed to get herself under control, a smile came to her lips.
Tight, false, too wrong, too normal, too closed.
Customer service smile. That's what people called it.
Makes sense too.
She was formerly a call centre agent.
"What is it, Niel?" She asked the younger server, her tone gentling further when she noticed his hands fidgeting.
Daniel looked down, his usually messy hair looking neatly brushed for once but he looked nervous despite how put together he looked that evening.
"I was just wondering," Daniel started haltingly, "if you could– that is if you're willing, of course–!"
Evangeline sighed and reached up to wipe away any more tear stains left on her face. When she was sure she looked the smallest bit composed, she rested a hand on Daniel's shoulder and nodded for him to speak.
"I don't bite, Niel," she reassured him, "what do you need me to do?"
Daniel looked unsure as he looked at Evangeline and the spot he found her curled up in.
Evangeline shook her head.
"It was only this once," she lied, "you know how messy life gets."
"If you say so," Daniel mumbled.
"I do," Evangeline replied, her tone becoming insistent.
"There's a bachelor party that just came in," Daniel explained, his eyes never leaving Evangeline's for a moment.
She didn’t need to hear the rest of what he wanted to say.
"You want me to wait their table," She finished.
"If you're okay with it!" Daniel threw in, waving his hands as if to wave away his words.
Evangeline smiled and shook her head.
"I am," she told the young man firmly.
"Okay."

Best Bosses: The Mistress of Midnight Teeth.
Source: Tome of Beasts 2
Tumblr media
Image Source: Tome of Beasts 2, pg. 147.
“The elegant gnomish noblewoman smiles, flashing dazzling white teeth in contrast to her rich blue hair, and moves with fluid grace past a mirror. As she passes the mirror, her reflection briefly shows old blood caked on her face.”
Phylomara Gladrienne, mistress of the Court of Midnight Teeth, is one of the most influential of the shadow archfey. She appears as a refined gnome, bedecked in fashions such as fine silk and jewels that always compliment her inky blue hair. She loves styling her hair very elaborately, and insists on never appearing with the same style twice.
Mistress of The Blue Barbers. The Mistress’ gnome courtiers in her home also serve her as agents abroad. Known as the Blue Barbers, they are defined by their blue hair and desire to bring style into the lives of all they meet. They are polite and social, offering services as decorators, artists, information brokers, and stylists of all varieties.
Hungry for secrets. The main reason Blue Barbers are so gregarious is due to their Mistress’ endless hunger for secrets. She is desperate for gossip and interesting facts, and ever-eager to learn information regarding unique and interesting individuals. She is particularly stealthy, using her knowledge of darkness and manipulation of shadows to manipulate people from behind the scenes of her decadent parties.
Ravenous for Flesh. Beneath the Mistress’ facade of style and politeness, her darker side reveals itself in too-sharp teeth and strange reflection. She is always hungry, and her court constantly works to bring her fresh meat to devour. Any and all who cross the Mistress of Midnight Teeth discover that her hunger is something formidable, endless, and evil.
Knowledgeable Hostess. The parties and banquets the Mistress throws are well-renowned for their decadence, with Fey and other beings flocking to her dappled gardens to partake in strange games of intrigue and gossip. Those looking to earn the Mistress’ favour would do well to attend such a party and engage with her court, for she is very knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics. Those seeking her wisdom must be prepared to trade their own secrets in return, or at least a bit of flesh.
The Mistress’s Lair:
The Mistress makes her home in the Court of Midnight Teeth, a massive marble and silver mansion in the Plane of Shadow. Gilded mirrors hang on every wall to reflect the stylish Blue Barbers wandering about, each attended to by hosts of goblin house servants.
Within her home, the Mistress is all but immune to damage, as she can shunt injuries off to her reflections in the surrounding mirrors. As she stalks her halls, she often stops to consult her imperfect replicas in every mirror— her reflections are monstrous and often covered in bruises or cuts, revealing the Mistress’ darker personality within.
In addition to using her reflections defensively, the Mistress has other uses for her glittering copies. Her Reflections appear in every reflective surface near her, including puddles or metal, which she can cause to reach out to attack nearby creatures. She can also step into any reflective surface, walking through them similarly to portals to appear somewhere else.
Along with manipulating her reflections, the Mistress also has control over the darkness in her realm, and is capable of casting the area into a sphere of gloom in order to make it more difficult to navigate her halls.
While within her home, beings experience strange effects. Humanoids wake up every day intensely hungry, experiencing unknown cravings that cannot be satiated unless at the Mistress’ dining table. Reflections within three miles of Her lair move of their own accord when unobserved.
The Mistress may scry the location of any being in her home by casting her sight through a mirror, and can extend this ability to any mirror near one of her Blue Barber servants, quite literally giving her eyes and ears across the multiverse.
Ideas for using the Mistress of Midnight Teeth in your campaign:
A charismatic, blue-haired gnome appears to the party, offering them an invitation to one of their Mistress’ exquisite banquets. After they arrive and enjoy Her hospitality, the Mistress informs them they may not leave until sharing a few secrets with her. If they don’t, she is perfectly happy bringing them to her next party… as the main course!
The party needs information, be it a secret regarding an enemy or the location of an ancient treasure. They must meet with the Mistress of Midnight Teeth in order to get the information out of her, and must sneak past her small army of Blue Butlers who are constantly on the lookout for those without an invitation.
Another Archfey is looking to get back at the Mistress for exposing one of their secrets, and has enlisted the party to aid them. They must go to her annual birthday banquet and steal the main course, replacing it with something vile covered by an illusion. When the party gets there, they discover the main course isn’t what they expected— it is a group of humans, who they now are responsible for getting out safely.
I believe the Mistress and I, were it not for her garish appetites, would get along swimmingly. We both have quite the desire for knowledge, and I’d love to wrack her brain for secrets regarding some hard-to-reach lore.
Of course, I don’t believe the price I’d have to pay to access that knowledge would be quite worth it.
As fun as her events are, and as useful as she is, the Mistress only ever looks out for her own needs, and only ever wants two things: Fresh gossip and fresh meat.
- A Weird Warlock.
