I'm just gonna translate last stanza of the poem I just read because this book is hurting me emotionally in all the best ways

So! We had a book fair recently and I found a couple of interesting poetry books

One of which is from a pretty famous writer who wrote in my language/dialect (depending on what side if the linguistic debate you're on)

And I'm 3 POEMS IN and I just got emotionally curbstomped!

I can't properly translate the poem because it'd lose ita impact but DAAAAAAMN! I ain't reading anymore today, lemme process this shit first!

i think it's an apt thing to say they're playing 5D chess against themselves, because who isn't ? life is just as convoluted and complicated and unnecessarily hard, with just as many different ways to navigate, so, really, i think we're all just playing 5D chess against ourselves

also, i'm nothing more than a human being on the internet that wants to make sure other human beings are okay, so i'm no better at holding them together than they are themselves. they're the ones putting in the work to find the resolve to pick themselves back up ! it's by their hands, not mine ! i'm really just here to be moral support and cheer them on from the sidelines :'')) but it warms my heart nonetheless that i could help them find strength <3

October events are already done. Success and it was organized by no other than me huhu so happy

We had a little time for ourselves yesterday before health break that will be 2 weeks.

Watch balota (would recommend) and karaoke hub last night bc 2 of our teacher celeb there bday too

Lola went home (province) it will be us for the next 2 weeks or weeks maybe

A 3hr last seminar for the month of October

This month is the most tiring, frustrating yet fulfilling.

Content review: Balota Movie

I watched balota last night and all I can say is: Philippine social reality is the true horror in every film and literature.

the first few scenes are kinda slow for me, but as soon as the story builds up, i can no longer stay calm at my seat. i was literally in focus mode and at the same time, my hands were in front of my eyes, hoping to not see the next visual of the story.

all of the things that are shared in the plot are true, although other characteristics and scenes are a bit exaggerated or not describing well the realities as a teacher (for example, on election day, teachers are supposed to be there at least 4am in the morning but at the movie, its already in the morning). nevertheless, the plot really did deliver the horror of election and the reasons why our comrades and revolutionaries would say that election is not the solution for this rotten system.

the movie really tackles a lot about social realities and why people choose to collectively armed themselves to change the society. as people say, those who try to do the right thing, those who try to voice their rights are being shut in the mouth, shot in the head.

the scary thing is, those scenes aren't just found in the movies. they are a reflection of how dirty the politics are here in the Philippines.

I would really recommend this film as a guide to tackle social sciences and any other subject! analysis in this film would really help students to be critical. such a gem! ✨

Dear God,

Thankful and blessed today. All is well after my 26 hours duty. I ate oatmeal for breakfast. I arrived home safely. I had myself and skin care routine. I drank my vitamins and medicines. I ate banana. I slept and woke up at 5PM plus with the help of my alarms. I ate two saba banana for dinner. I prepared myself for 4 hours duty. I played cooking fever. I arrived at Saif’s house safely. I cared and monitored my patient with the help of Ate Carme and with you Oh God. I scrolled my social media accounts, chatted my family and friends. I read few pages of the Bible. I watched random videos on Youtube and Tiktok. I did my patient’s routine. Ate Carme shared food for take home which is chicken and lumpia. I did cortex and inventory. We had chit chats. I removed white hair to Ate Carme. 4 hours duty ended and I arrived home safely. I had myself care routine. I did laundry and while waiting to finish I watch Balota on Netflix. I ate few pieces of grapes, Pringles dipped in a cheese for snacks. Please help me God reduce my weight. I will do my skin care routine. I will hang my clothes to dry. I will drink my medicines. Have mercy on us Oh God. Guide us always to the right path. Remove sickness, danger and negative things in our life. Answer our prayers in your perfect time. Thank you and I love you God

cringe. none of the actors except for donna cariaga and sassa gurl (in some instances) are great in delivering their lines. none of them had feelings!

it is too mainstream. yes, we get it, we have a shitty government and these traditional politicians are all entirely the same, but at least give us a substance! give us something mindblowing.

maybe it was overhyped because it's almost election season— but the ending could've been different. the cycle still continued and it did not show even an ounce of hope for the people. is it really the elected officials that would save us? the lesser evil is still evil, right?

as a teacher, i did not like how this movie presented teacher emmy. it just amplified the abuses that happen to filipino teachers. teacher emmy could have fought for teachers rights, instead of becoming the school principal. it did not even make sense. i don't know if they wanted it to be inspirational, but if that's the case, it wasn't.
