I’ve seen a few people, mostly non-American, who don’t know who Henry Kissinger is or what he did. So your local history student and nerd is going to try to give a quick summary of the main atrocities he committed.
-Role in the Vietnam War: this is the first and biggest reason most people have for hating Kissinger. He unnecessarily extended and expanded the war prolonging the already frivolous conflict. He purposefully delayed negotiations. He approved large scale carpet bombings done with the use of B-52 bombs killed thousands to millions of innocent civilians. The Christmas Bombing was an intense, focused bombing that caused large civilian deaths in a short period of time. He engaged in negotiations with the North Vietnamese often without permission or knowledge from the US government. He was the National Security Advisor and overall had much knowledge about 1) how useless the war was 2) the travesties happening to both the North Vietnamese and South, as well as America’s own soldiers.
-Secret Bombing and Invasion in Cambodia: Kissinger (and Nixon) lead secret bombing campaigns in Cambodia aimed to destroy North Vietnamese trails and routes that ran through the country. Cambodia originally pursued neutrality in the war. Its citizens were not involved.
-Invasion and Bombing of Laos: Laos also held North Vietnamese routes, so Kissinger led Operation Lam Son which was a full scale invasion supplied with American air power and weapons. Not that it would matter, but this invasion did little to interrupt the trade routes. The North Vietnamese, made up of people who lived and knew the landscape of Vietnam, were able to adapt and find new routes. There was also secret bombings carried out in Laos, authorized by Kissinger, aimed to destroy the Ho Chi Minh trail, which, once again, wasn’t disrupted and just took innocent civilian lives in Laos. Laos also remained neutral in the Vietnam War. They were not involved, yet they were punished.
-Involvement in the Bangladesh Liberation War: this was a war between Bangladesh and Pakistan. Kissinger remained in a close relationship with Pakistan which, by now, was known to be committing horrendous human rights abuses, including large scale killings of the Bangladeshis. In fact, Kissinger and America provided funding for them. America was aligned in the first place because of bullshit Cold War alliances.
-Supporting and funding a dictator over an elected president: Chile had elected a *gasp* socialist president that really made Kissinger piss his pants. Project FUBELT, directly under Kissinger’s guidance, initiated covert actions to undermine and prevent the socialist President, Salvador Allende, from rising to power. Financial support was provided to anti-Allende groups and would eventually provided support to a military coup who would kill Allende. The leader of the coup, Augusto Pinochet, would then assume power and take rule an authoritarian government and become a dictator for 17 years. Under his rule, torture and executions were carried out against political dissidents and others. This wasn’t a secret.
-Supported the brutal invasion of East Timor: Indonesia would invade and occupy East Timor in 1975. Kissinger and Nixon had knowledge of the invasion beforehand and provided military support despite the knowledge of human rights abuses already taking place in East Timor by the Indonesians, abuses often using US weapons. Massacres, forced displacement, suppression of political dissents, torture, sexual abuse, restrictions of religious and cultural practices, and scorched earth policies are just some examples.
To my knowledge, these are usually the largest reasons cited, but please add more if I’m wrong. There are also lesser known atrocities either supported or funded by Kissinger, many taking place in Africa, that I thoroughly implore you to read about. Please correct any inaccurate things I said.

[ . . . ] ARMY FANDOM BREAKDOWN
while main BTS stans refer to themselves as ARMY and are often viewed to stanning all eight members, there are however several solo stans or fans who bias one member more than the others. Y/N has referred to her fans as GRLANDRITES. this comes from a combination of her stage name GRLZILLA + ALEXANDRITE, a gem that is labeled as one of the ugliest in the worlds.
NICKNAMES : uglies, little shits, gems, worms
LIGHTSTICK : ARMY BOMB
GRLANDRITES EMOJI : 🪱
OO. FAN DEMOGRAPHICS
AGE RANGE : while ARMY come in all ages, your fans are mostly in the age range of early teens to late 30s.
GENDER : when you originally debuted in 2013, bighit had it so you were geared to bring male k-pop stans into the fandoms. and up until around 2016, most of your fans were male. beginning at around 2018 you have gained a plethora of more female and nonbinary / genderqueer fans. this spike has remained constant in recent years from 2020-2022 and while you still have male fans, your female fans have outnumbered them.
REGIONS : you are most popular in east asia, north america, oceania, and europe. your largest fanbases are found in korea, america, japan, england, france, germany, australia, new zealand, and scotland.
OTHER FANDOMS THEY ARE CLOSE TO : ixluvs ( exile her ) revluvs ( red velvet ) moas ( tomorrow by together ) engene ( enhypen ) fearnot ( le sserafim ) carats ( seventeen )
OO. FAN REPUTATION
ANTISOCIAL : it’s a known fact that you are antisocial. it’s often seen during interviews and when how very rarely you are seen out when in korea. this trait is often shared with a number of your stans as many have voiced that the reason why they stan you is because of how you don’t talk much in interviews, always avoiding talking on red carpets, and how you don’t leave your home.
COMPETITIVE : this is trait shared with the rest of the ARMY fandom. GRLANDRITES are often competitive when it comes to voting for you specifically especially in the BEST FEMALE category. it’s not often you get placed into that category so when you do, your stans work harder than the devil himself to make sure you win.
OBSERVANT : your stans have became observant when BTS started becoming extremely popular. this trait is often used when they watch videos of you during interviews. some of your longer stans mostly have this trait as they can tell by your body language if someone is making you uncomfortable or not.
CREATIVE : GRLANDRITES are probably some of the most creative people you will ever meet. they have been known to create several different types of art works and projects dedicated to you. when GRLHOOD was released, one specific stan did a whole series of painting dedicated to the mixtape. you found out about this and even bought the pieces and they can still be seen hanging up in your apartment today.
HUMOROUS : your stans love making jokes. especially at your expense. they are the ones who started the “disappointed y/n look” meme back in 2018. if you do something meme worthy, they are the first ones to turn it into either a meme or sound on tiktok.
OO. FAN FAVORITES
ANTHEMS : i doll, girl in the mirror, dead man runnin’
FAVORITE ALBUMS : grlhood, wings, most beautiful moments in life pt.2, love yourself: her
FAVORITE ERAS : i need u, run, spring day, fake love, on
FAVORITE TITLE TRACKS : i need u, fake love, idol, on, run bts
FAVORITE B SIDES : borderline, egoist, dead man runnin’, pied piper, save me, left right, breathe, dracula, whalien 52
FAVORITE COVERS : come back home ( seo taiji and boys ) speechless ( aladdin ) paradise lost ( gain ) watermelon sugar ( harry styles ) talk ( khalid )
OO. FAN TRIVIA
GRLANDRITES do not get along with jungkook stans for some reason and can always been seen fighting with them on twitter
their nickname “worm” comes from when some fans asked you if you would still love them even if they were worms and you just replied with “but you guys are already worms, aren’t you?”
GRLANDRITES have a good relationship with exile her’s fandom, IXLUVS.
a notable moment for GRLANDRITES was when one of your long time stans since debut was getting married and her fiancé had invited you. you flew back to korea just to attend the wedding and even sang as a song that you had written just for the couple.
in 2017, a fan bought you a star and named it GRLZILLA. you then bought a star that looked to be right next to yours in 2019 and named it GRLANDRITE.

MONSTER RATING: Godzilla (Shin Godzilla)
Shin Godzilla is a new spin on Godzilla from Japanese directors Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, and it fucking rules. Look, I love most of the Godzilla movies, even though it went from a metaphor to the horrors of war and the nuclear bomb to basically just kaiju WWE, Godzilla was meant to be a terrifying monster. Shin Godzilla seeks to rectify it with this new incarnation - a mutilated, radiation-scarred amalgamation of tumorous, charred flesh.
Shin Godzilla follows the members of the Japanese government as they attempt to weave their way through the bureaucratic and social nightmare of a 400 foot tall irradiated monster seeking to destroy one of the most densely populated cities in the world. It’s a fairly interesting concept - it’s less a typical kaiju story and more of someone going “Okay, seriously, what if Godzilla actually existed in real life, what would happen?” I’ve been known to enjoy ridiculous hypotheticals and I, for one, am glad that Shin Godzilla follows through with it and still manages to make it interesting. The wonderful performances really sell that these people are responsible for the lives of several million citizens and that they are utterly aware of how limited their powers are. These are people trying to do the best they can to not let this be the worst humanitarian disaster on the face of the planet.
The movie’s cast is huge, I could swear they have enough actors to replicate the Japanese government one-to-one, which makes it a little difficult to pick out who our main protagonists are. The one we focus on the most is Rando Yaguchi (Hiroki Hasegawa), Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, our main protagonist with his friend Hideki Akasaka (Yutaka Takenouchi), the Prime Minister's aide, and Kayoco Anne Patterson (Satomi Ishihara), the US President’s envoy. As Godzilla grows more and more dangerous - with mutations that threaten to obliterate Tokyo, if not all of Japan - they must organize as many people as they can muster in order to devise a plan to stop Godzilla in its tracks. All the while attempting to placate the US, who is more than eager to destroy Godzilla, along with all of Tokyo, with nuclear force.
I know political commentary is not usually what people come to Godzilla for, but the “what if”-esque nature of this movie lends itself to it surprisingly well. Godzilla is treated both as a force of nature, much like an earthquake or hurricane, that appears randomly to cause arbitrary death and destruction, and a hostile entity that has to be combatted. It’s shockingly realistic for a disaster movie, we see how the government is stretched thin trying to handle evacuation, military deployment, trying to seek reason in a country with an itchy trigger finger resting on the nuke button - it gets tense watching them despair and panic, doing everything they can to minimize the loss of human life.
No punches are pulled at the expense of America, of course. Our response is immediate military deployment, with little to no regard for collateral damage or civilian casualties. Props to the movie for accuracy, even if attempts to fight Godzilla with raw military power are futile. Gunfire, cannonfire, missiles, everything seems to bounce off its burnt exterior without so much as a scratch. The only thing that manages to pierce its skin are the missiles dropped from American B-52 bombers. In response, Godzilla discharges dozens of laser beams from his back, destroying the bombers and reducing the metropolitan area to a burning, irradiated wasteland. Even if the missiles did succeed, the movie is quick to point out that the carpet bombing would’ve annihilated Tokyo anyways. When conventional weaponry doesn’t work, the US immediately plans to destroy both Godzilla and Tokyo through use of a nuclear bomb. Every character is justifiably horrified at this.
Godzilla in this movie is a being of ultimate violence, absolutely nothing can trump it. When there’s a weapon it can’t shrug off, it evolves to surpass it. More importantly though, he’s basically a wild animal trapped in a corner. Of course it’s going to lash out, you’re provoking the god of violence and he’s scared shitless. He is the ultimate hubris punisher, a being that exists to humble humanity and say “Your violence will only be met with destruction.” The calls for violence against it are noticeable once you pick it up, even in the beginning when it’s a large, unknown, whale-like creature in the Tokyo bay, the government officials are already calling for its extermination. The only way he is defeated is through scientific research and understanding, a blood coagulant that is developed only through study of its molecular structure and behavior. The movie’s big message is “Violence will only ever beget greater violence, it’s only through cooperation and understanding that humanity can survive,” and it’s using the American proclivity towards violence as the cudgel for this metaphor, which is great.
We talked a lot about what he represents, but let's get literal for a moment. Let's talk about the big man himself.
- MONSTER RATING - GODZILLA -
CREEPINESS: 7/10 - Classically, Godzilla is just one big dinosaur, and like, conceptually it’s pretty terrifying. He’s a giant monster that’s almost impossible to fight and can kill thousands of people pretty easily, though a lot of the older movies have added a bit of narm to him. For a lot of people, Godzilla is more a goofy rubber monster than something horrifying.
Shin Godzilla is horrifying. His design makes it look like he’s one-half dead, useless flesh and the other half painful, tumorous overgrowth, with the exterior of thick, folded over, burnt skin and dull red light faintly glowing from where it’s thinnest. Raw, exposed flesh that’s visible from the parts that aren’t covered in charred skin. The shriveled, contorted arms that seemed to have lost functionality. The several overlapping teeth that seem to just grow randomly from in and around its mouth. This beast is a product of radiation and every single part of it seems to yearn for a swift release. Existence for Shin Godzilla seems to be one of endless pain, as its tumor-ridden body continues to survive despite it threatening to fall apart.
Though what makes him even scarier than his design is that the movie portrays him like the personification of natural disaster. It cannot be reasoned with, it cannot be stopped, and the more you try to stop him, the more death and destruction he will cause. Even then, nothing humanity can do can actually stop it, it’s more powerful than any weapon on Earth, and its existence only signifies inevitable annihilation. Humans are no longer on top, and they’re no longer safe either.
The ONLY thing that stops Godzilla from being truly terrifying is - and I’m sorry to say this - the eyes. Big, googly-eyed peepers that don’t suggest any form of brain activity in that skull. A lot of people seem to think it’s first appearance in the film, when it’s younger and less developed, is actually pretty cute in an ugly pug sort of way. The googly eyes carry on even to hid final form, which makes him look unfortunately goofy with his beady little eyes. I understand the movie is trying to go with the glassy, dead-eyed fish appearance to make it look even more like a walking corpse, but it doesn’t really stick. Otherwise, the design is phenomenal.
WETNESS: 6/10 - Surprisingly not as wet as you'D think for a giant fish. His final form makes him look like he survived an hour in the incinerator. The dry, black, cracked skin with a faint red glowing underneath conveying the unbridled nuclear heat stored inside. Though he loses his wetness as he evolves, his first appearance is wet as HELL.
Godzilla is a fish that’s become irradiated, and you can certainly tell that when he first appears. His skin is still green and not yet covered in burnt flesh, though with some parts that are just exposed musculature, as if its rapid growth is literally ripping him apart. As he crawls through the streets of Tokyo, blood spills out of his gills with every breath. This is the midpoint between what it once was and what it will become and it looks utterly painful. If his final form is nuclear incineration, his first form is nuclear disintegration. His cells are just barely holding together as he’s forcefully evolved into a being of destruction.
DATEABILITY: 8/10 - Let me give you a quote from the director of the 1954 Godzilla film, Ishirō Honda:
“Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy. They do not attack people because they want to, but because of their size and strength, mankind has no other choice but to defend himself.”
You’re a fish in the ocean, and by happenstance you accidentally find yourself in a nuclear waste dumping ground. The radiation mutates you. Slowly, painfully, you grow larger. Your fins are replaced with distortions of limbs, blood spills out of your gills, and you have no idea what is causing the pain you feel. Soon enough, you start surpassing buildings in size, and in a blind, pained stupor you find yourself in a city. Your body is too huge and unwieldy, as you move the infrastructure around you turns to rubble, and hundreds die in your wake. In response, humans have no choice but to try and kill you. You never chose this, you never even realized what was happening, but now you’ve become a god of death, the only thing you will ever cause is misery and disaster. You are utterly alone, because you’ve become built for violence, and violence will be the only thing you’ll know for the rest of your life.
Godzilla is all alone in this world, and no one can possibly understand them. He might be a terrifying destructive god on the outside but on the inside they’re angry and terrified. Can you imagine suddenly mutating into a gigantic monster, whose existence can only destroy? How alienating it must be that you cannot coexist with the life around you, that the only thing that can follow you is unmitigated death. No one will try to understand you, let alone sympathize with you, because you will only ever be a threat and nothing more. It’s fascinating that the song that plays when Godzilla unleashes his nuclear beams, “Who Will Know,” is one that’s sympathetic to him.
“If I die in this world / Who will know something of me? / I am lost, no one knows / There’s no trace of my yearning.”
Godzilla in this movie, despite his city-destroying size and power, is still the scared little guppy he once was. He doesn’t know any better, he doesn’t even know why this is happening to him in the first place. What he needs most of all is someone next to him, to see him for what he is, and to love and care for him despite his irradiated and monstrous appearance. Someone to quell the fiery radioactive fear in his heart, and show him the love he needs in a world that only seeks his death.
FINAL RATING: A GIANT TUMOR WORTH LOVING / 10

Do u have a favorite mh monster
so in mhw that answer is really easy, my favourite Bois there are the bloodpuppy Odogaron and the b-52 bomber Bazelguese. bloodpuppy is just so much fun to fight with him not having any super annoying mechanics/attacks that ruin the fun and dealing high enough damage that he's still A Threat. B-52 I find really really funny that they have a guy that just shows up and starts doing fucking wwii carpet bombing shit while you're out minding your business, and again I find it really fun to fight
(and special mention to zinogre for being so so incredibly pubby)
over ALL the monhun games though?? it's so tough to pick favourites
so I actually do really like and have a soft spot for that big dumb chicken I hunted in the og monun while streaming last night, Yian Kut-Ku he's a fun guy with a face no mother could love and I just kinda like him
I like Great Jaggi a lot, not for any particularly good reason but he's just a silly goofy guy and he makes fun noises and he's just kinda chill and funky to fight he's a good time
zamtrios is a really really neat and cool design I think he looks wicked. though tbh could do without the vore thing.
tetsucabra is just frog. who doesn't love funny frog (also the vitality boost on its armour `chef's kiss`)
honourable mention to nibelsnarf for having the funniest name ever
least favourite monsters is easy.
1. monke.
2. nerscylla.
monke/rajang because it just scares me. it's so fast and hits so hard and goes Super Saiyan on my ass and I'm not about it okay get that Goku shit away from me
nerscylla I don't have an actually valid reason for hating, but it was a required hunt in mh4u and I can't even look at the damn thing. how the hell am I supposed to hunt a monster without looking at it.

US Declares war on all of Vietnam
Following the events in Vietnam, and the agreement signed, the United States government has realized that the Paracel Islands still remain a territory the United States owns. As a result, the following will take place to regain control of the Vietnamese peninsula:
England:
HMS Triumph Aircraft Carrier
Complete with:
35 fighter planes
6 long range bombers
10 UH-1 Helicopters
HMS Eagle Landing Ship
50 Corvette Class Ships
4 Battleships
United States:
2 Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers from the 7th Fleet
Complete with
60 Fighter planes
15 Long range bombers
40 UH-1 Helicopters
USS Iowa Battleship
USS New Jersey Battleship
90 Torpedo and Corvette Class Boats
8 Landing Craft Ships
3rd Marine Division
101st Airborne Division
1st Armoured Division
All ships retreating the Vietnamese mainland will be redirected to the Paracel islands where there is an existing American air strip, and small air base. All aircraft that are in Vietnam: F-4 Phantoms, A-4 Skyhawk, B-52 Stratofortress, AWACS, A-7 Corsair, will be flown back to the islands where they will be briefed on the situation at hand.
In addition to Air Force Aircraft, the United States will reroute all Navy ships (USS Iowa Battleship, Nimitz-Class Carrier, Corvette class small ships, Landing Craft) to Paracel Island where they will be fueled and also briefed on the mission at hand. On the landing crafts and small ships, 7,000 American soldiers from the Army and Marines will also be briefed to ensure they have adequate fighting skills.
In addition to the soldiers, other RVN men from South Vietnam will join the Americans on Paracel Island to join the fight against the ARVN.
The attack will be initiated the day after in the early hours of 5:30AM where there is no suspicion of an infiltration. The mission will begin with the 6 B-52 Bombers who will drop a series of bombs on South Vietnam in the larger cities and known locations of the ARVN in a carpet bombing location. These aircraft will also use Agent Orange and Napalm to eliminate the forest regions near Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Following the series of attacks on the Southern Vietnamese area, long range cruise missiles will be launched from the battleship into Southern Vietnam, again targeting the home of Ho Chi Minh and other North Vietnamese compounds.
After the aerial attack, large groups of landing crafts will be launched towards the beaches in South Vietnam and deploy the 3rd Marine division who will eliminate any further Army members will be eliminated. This will be surveyed by fighter planes and other long range bombers who will also ensure that little harm is shown to any of the American troops.
Various ports and areas of entry will also be destroyed along with the all-out aerial assault provided by fighter planes
Given the intelligence of the RVN troops, American troops will know where the strongholds of the North Vietnam fighters are, and subsequently where the Americans have the ability to attack. Along with the troops many UH-1 Huey helicopters, supplied by the RVN and the United States, will provide close air support to the troops.
The forces will be split into two, one side going to Hanoi, and the other side fighting in Ho Chi Minh City. The American forces will fight in Ho Chi Minh City and the British and South Vietnamese in Hanoi.
The main target is Ho Chi Minh, and there is an order to capture and eliminate him for all forces.

There are very few Monster Hunter monsters I would ever truly classify as "blorbo" material.
However, Bazelgeuse is an extremely strong exception to this unspoken rule.
I vastly enjoy and appreciate this lad, the living B-52 Stratofortress that sweats nitroglycerin-infused pinecones and uses them carpet bomb anything and everything it finds into oblivion before then divebombing into its hapless victims.

I know people get really pressed about the walking robot dog because sooner or later it will be used as a weapon of war and oppression but I don’t think the inevitability of the B-52 Stratofortress carpet bombing an oprhanage means you can’t be wow’d by being around to view the invention of heavier than air flight.

I Never Saw a World So Fragmented! It is amazing how easily, without resistance, the Western empire is managing to destroy “rebellious” countries that are standing in its way. I work in all corners of the planet, wherever Kafkaesque “conflicts” get ignited by Washington, London or Paris. What I see and describe are not only those horrors which are taking place all around me; horrors that are ruining human lives, destroying villages, cities and entire countries. What I try to grasp is that on the television screens and on the pages of newspapers and the internet, the monstrous crimes against humanity somehow get covered (described), but the information becomes twisted and manipulated to such an extent, that readers and viewers in all parts of the world end up knowing close to nothing about their own suffering, and/or of the suffering of the other. For instance, in 2015 and in 2019, I tried to sit down and reason with the Hong Kong rioters. It was a truly revealing experience! They knew nothing, absolutely zero about the crimes the West has been committing in places such as Afghanistan, Syria or Libya. When I tried to explain to them, how many Latin American democracies Washington had overthrown, they thought I was a lunatic. How could the good, tender, ‘democratic’ West murder millions, and bathe entire continents in blood? That is not what they were taught at their universities. That is not what the BBC, CNN or even the China Morning Post said and wrote. Look, I am serious. I showed them photos from Afghanistan and Syria; photos stored in my phone. They must have understood that this was original, first hand stuff. Still, they looked, but their brains were not capable of processing what they were being shown. Images and words; these people were conditioned not to comprehend certain types of information. But this is not only happening in Hong Kong, a former British colony. You will maybe find it hard to believe, but even in a Communist country like Vietnam; a proud country, a country which suffered enormously from both French colonialism and the U.S. mad and brutal imperialism, people that I associated with (and I lived in Hanoi for 2 years) knew close to nothing about the horrendous crimes committed against the poor and defenseless neighboring Laos, by the U.S. and its allies during the so-called “Secret War”; crimes that included the bombing of peasants and water buffalos, day and night, by strategic B-52 bombers. And in Laos, where I covered de-mining efforts, people knew nothing about the same monstrosities that the West had committed in Cambodia; murdering hundreds of thousands of people by carpet bombing, displacing millions of peasants from their homes, triggering famine and opening the doors to the Khmer Rouge takeover. When I am talking about this shocking lack of knowledge in Vietnam, regarding the region and what it was forced to go through, I am not speaking just about the shop-keepers or garment workers. It applies to Vietnamese intellectuals, artists, teachers. It is total amnesia, and it came with the so-called ‘opening up’ to the world, meaning with the consumption of Western mass media and later by the infiltration of social media. At least Vietnam shares borders as well as a turbulent history with both Laos and Cambodia. But imagine two huge countries with only maritime borders, like the Philippines and Indonesia. Some Manila dwellers I met thought that Indonesia was in Europe. Now guess, how many Indonesians know about the massacres that the United States committed in the Philippines a century ago, or how the people in the Philippines were indoctrinated by Western propaganda about the entire South East Asia? Or, how many Filipinos know about the U.S.-triggered 1965 military coup, which deposed the internationalist President Sukarno, killing between 2-3 million intellectuals, teachers, Communists and unionists in “neighboring” Indonesia? Look at the foreign sections of the Indonesian or Filipino newspapers, and what will you see; the same news from Reuters, AP, AFP. In fact, you will also see the same reports in the news outlets of Kenya, India, Uganda, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Guatemala, and the list goes on and on. It is designed to produce one and only one result: absolute fragmentation! *** The fragmentation of the world is amazing, and it is increasing with time. Those who hoped that the internet would improve the situation, grossly miscalculated. With a lack of knowledge, solidarity has disappeared, too. Right now, all over the world, there are riots and revolutions. I am covering the most significant ones; in the Middle East, in Latin America, and in Hong Kong. Let me be frank: there is absolutely no understanding in Lebanon about what is going on in Hong Kong, or in Bolivia, Chile and Colombia. Western propaganda throws everything into one sack. In Hong Kong, rioters indoctrinated by the West are portrayed as “pro-democracy protesters”. They kill, burn, beat up people, but they are still the West’s favorites. Because they are antagonizing the People’s Republic of China, now the greatest enemy of Washington. And because they were created and sustained by the West. In Bolivia, the anti-imperialist President was overthrown in a Washington orchestrated coup, but the mostly indigenous people who are demanding his return are portrayed as rioters. In Lebanon, as well as Iraq, protesters are treated kindly by both Europe and the United States, mainly because the West hopes that pro-Iranian Hezbollah and other Shi’a groups and parties could be weakened by the protests. The clearly anti-capitalist and anti-neo-liberal revolution in Chile, as well as the legitimate protests in Colombia, are reported as some sort of combination of explosion of genuine grievances, and hooliganism and looting. Mike Pompeo recently warned that the United States will support right-wing South American governments, in their attempt to maintain order. All this coverage is nonsense. In fact, it has one and only one goal: to confuse viewers and readers. To make sure that they know nothing or very little. And that, at the end of the day, they collapse on their couches with deep sighs: “Oh, the world is in turmoil!” *** It also leads to the tremendous fragmentation of countries on each continent, and of the entire global south. Asian countries know very little about each other. The same goes for Africa and the Middle East. In Latin America, it is Russia, China and Iran who are literally saving the life of Venezuela. Fellow Latin American nations, with the one shiny exception of Cuba, do zero to help. All Latin American revolutions are fragmented. All U.S. produced coups basically go unopposed. The same situation is occurring all over the Middle East and Asia. There are no internationalist brigades defending countries destroyed by the West. The big predator comes and attacks its prey. It is a horrible sight, as a country dies in front of the world, in terrible agony. No one interferes. Everybody just watches. One after another, countries are falling. This is not how states in the 21st Century should behave. This is the law of attraction the jungle. When I used to live in Africa, making documentary films in Kenya, Rwanda, Congo, driving through the wilderness; this is how animals were behaving, not people. Big cats finding their victim. A zebra, or a gazelle. And the hunt would begin: a terrible occurrence. Then the slow killing; eating the victim alive. Quite similar to the so-called Monroe doctrine. The Empire has to kill. Periodically. With predictable regularity. And no one does anything. The world is watching. Pretending that nothing extraordinary is taking place. One wonders: can legitimate revolution succeed under such conditions? Can any democratically elected socialist government survive? Or does everything decent, hopeful, and optimistic always ends up as the prey to a degenerate, brutal and vulgar empire? If that is the case, what’s the point of playing by the rules? Obviously, the rules are rotten. They exist only in order to uphold the status quo. They protect the colonizers, and castigate the rebellions victims. But that’s not what I wanted to discuss here, today. My point is: the victims are divided. They know very little about each other. The struggles for true freedom, are fragmented. Those who fight, and bleed, but fight nevertheless, are often antagonized by their less daring fellow victims. I have never seen the world so divided. Is the Empire succeeding, after all? Yes and no. Russia, China, Iran, Venezuela – they have already woken up. They stood up. They are learning about each other, from each other. Without solidarity, there can be no victory. Without knowledge, there can be no solidarity. Intellectual courage is now clearly coming from Asia, from the “East”. In order to change the world, Western mass media has to be marginalized, confronted. All Western concepts, including “democracy”, “peace”, and “human rights” have to be questioned, and redefined. And definitely, knowledge. We need a new world, not an improved one. The world does not need London, New York and Paris to teach it about itself. Fragmentation has to end. Nations have to learn about each other, directly. If they do, true revolutions would soon succeed, while subversions and fake color revolutions like those in Hong Kong, Bolivia and all over the Middle East, will be regionally confronted, and prevented from ruining millions of human lives.
