Vadim Vladimirskiy, Co-Founder & CEO of Nerdio – Interview Series
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/vadim-vladimirskiy-co-founder-ceo-of-nerdio-interview-series/
Vadim Vladimirskiy, Co-Founder & CEO of Nerdio – Interview Series
Vadim Vladimirskiy serves as the CEO and co-founder of Nerdio, playing a key role in the development of its flagship products, Nerdio Manager for Enterprise and Nerdio Manager for MSP. He is an active speaker at industry events, focusing on channel, technology, and Microsoft-related topics. With a career that began in high school when he started his first IT consultancy business, he has maintained a long-standing commitment to technology and innovation.
Nerdio is a software solution provider that supports organizations of all sizes in deploying, managing, and cost-optimizing native Microsoft technologies. The company collaborates with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and enterprise organizations worldwide, enhancing their existing Microsoft investments, including Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, and Microsoft Intune.
How has your background in IT shaped the vision and product development at Nerdio?
My journey in IT began in high school when I started ComTech Computers, helping people set up home networks and experiencing the complexity and potential of IT. By the early 2000s, I was working as an IT consultant and network engineer at Solus, an MSP in Chicago, where I managed backups for numerous small and mid-sized businesses. Tape backups were unreliable and inefficient, and I envisioned a more streamlined, automated solution. After pushing for months, my bosses and I co-founded Level2 Storage in 2005, a cloud-based backup company, where we offered clients secure, automatic online data protection.
As client needs grew, I saw an opportunity to manage not only backups but entire IT infrastructures remotely—well before “cloud” was a common term. In 2007, we virtualized servers and offered remote access for a few clients as a pilot, which led to the launch of Adar IT. This new MSP offered clients full IT infrastructure management in a virtual environment, enabling them to access their desktops and data from anywhere. The cloud-focused model of Adar was transformative, but skeptics questioned its feasibility. Over time, we overcame challenges, optimized the technology, and grew Adar to serve numerous clients.
By 2016, with cloud adoption growing, we saw other MSPs facing the same cloud complexities we had tackled. This led to the founding of Nerdio, a platform that automates cloud environments specifically for MSPs, empowering them to deliver cloud services without needing deep cloud expertise. Nerdio’s mission is rooted in the solutions we developed for Adar IT and the challenges we faced along the way.   How does Nerdio help organizations optimize their Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 environments?
Nerdio simplifies and optimizes Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 environments through automation, cost management, and streamlined deployment. With Nerdio Manager, IT professionals can deploy an AVD environment in a few hours or connect to an existing setup in as little as 10 minutes, reducing deployment time by up to 80%. Our intuitive platform also automates key processes, from image management to application delivery, minimizing manual intervention, and reducing the risk of errors.
Nerdio’s advanced auto-scaling feature is central to its cost-saving capabilities. By dynamically adjusting resources based on demand, organizations have cited saving up to 80% on Azure compute and storage costs, when using Nerdio Manager compared to unoptimized strategies. Additionally, ESG reported that enterprises, on average, experience a 55% reduction in AVD costs using Nerdio Manager, compared to using AVD alone. Our interface also allows IT teams to manage both AVD and Windows 365 environments from a single platform, simplifying administration and improving overall operational efficiency.’
What are some unique challenges Nerdio addresses for enterprises managing cloud deployments?
We’re addressing unique challenges for enterprises managing cloud deployments by streamlining complex IT processes and reducing both operational costs and administrative burdens. With tools like our Nerdio Manager for MSP and Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, the platform fills significant gaps in managing Microsoft environments—specifically Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Microsoft’s Modern Workplace.
For enterprises with hybrid or remote workforces, we simplify the transition to cloud-first environments. Our platforms offer centralized, scalable management features, automating many repetitive tasks. For example, Kite Technology Group uses Nerdio to maintain security updates and disaster recovery processes across all client devices. This approach eliminates the need for frequent manual updates and ensures consistent, secure environments.
Nerdio’s auto-scaling capabilities are particularly beneficial, enabling enterprises to dynamically adjust resources based on real-time business needs. This provides significant cost savings on compute resources, as illustrated by Damart, who saved 50% on licensing and labor costs by using Nerdio’s scaling features. We also make tenant management more efficient. Tasks that once required hours are now completed in minutes, which saves IT leaders’ significant time and resources while managing hundreds or thousands of users.
With advanced features like unified application management, automatic updates and streamlined onboarding, Nerdio simplifies complex cloud management and enhances business continuity. By eliminating much of the labor and budget traditionally required for AVD and Microsoft Modern Workplace, our solutions empower enterprises to scale their cloud environments efficiently and affordably.   How does Nerdio ensure security and compliance while managing cloud environments like Microsoft Intune and Azure Virtual Desktop?
Our approach to security focuses on leveraging Microsoft’s robust security frameworks while adding our own layer of automation and best practices to ensure organizations can meet their security requirements.
We integrate Network Security Groups (NSGs) to manage and control traffic at the network level, ensuring all data and applications stay within the internal network.
Additionally, we support Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Privileged Identity Management (PIM), which help restrict access to only those who need it, minimizing the risk of data breaches. Regular patching and updates, combined with our automated tools, ensure all AVD components are protected against the latest threats.
Our platform ensures robust security through continuous monitoring with Azure Sentinel and centralized management. This helps maintain compliance with industry standards like GDPR, HIPAA and ISO. Nerdio is the first organization in the MSP space to partner with the Center for Internet Security, Inc. (CIS). This partnership simplifies compliance efforts and bolsters cybersecurity postures without requiring comprehensive customization or manual configuration. Recently, we partnered with CIS to transform our customers’ IT environments with robust, ready-to-use CIS Windows 10 and Windows 11 Intune policies to strengthen enterprises’ security and drive compliance.   How is Nerdio leveraging AI to streamline cloud management for enterprises and Managed Service Providers (MSPs)?

Ah, nature really is healing
"You wanna talk roots? Let's talk about how most of 2012-2015's fan culture is not just extinct, but erased from existence."
I'm actually curious about that, I've never been in any fandom long term. What was 2012-2015 Tumblr up to, and why was it erased?
Porn, queer theory, sex positivity, and beginners’ attempts at racial justice.
Most of it either disappeared, deleted, or died after the 2018 porn ban and the subsequent antisexual crush of SESTA/FOSTA.
Followed in rapid succession by all the US fascism.
There’s this notion that fandom is separate from the greater culture but it’s really, really not.
The same political forces that led a bunch of basically normal but newly impoverished people to join Qanon and become screeching bigots also led fandoms to rephrase ‘I don’t like this ship’ as ‘this is pedophilia.’
Nothing new, to be clear. People have been doing that for centuries.
The difference is a matter of centralization and scale. Tumblr WAS fandom, it was where fandom occurred, for about 6 years. Multifandom and crossover content in particular is just GONE. There weren’t places for that to move to as everyone dissipated into separate, semipublic, and even MORE ephemeral spaces like discord.
It’s hard for me to describe, especially unmedicated, but the elimination of huge swathes of fandom in late 2018 just.
Fandom used to be on the absolute bleeding edge of sexual politics, and now it’s this regressive, sanitized, commodified space where people think history began in 2016.

__________________
The whole autobot base is on high alert due to everyone's rut cycle hitting. The multiple meeting between the Autobots and Decepticons over a ceasefire truce for Rut cycles. Jazz's Engine lets out a churn of noises as he leans back against his berth, he had decided it was for the best he retire after the meetings, it meant he was less likely to have problems with the scent of the human allies that also roamed the Ark, most of the humans had been asked to go home for the next week and a bit but a few still hung around.
The soft sound of knocking breaks Jazz out of his thoughts as he moves towards the door to see who it is. Jazz’s visor flickers as he sees his favourite little human standing at his doorstep with a cube of energon on a cart for him. They smile as they look up at him. “Boss bot said you'd be back here, thought I'd drop you off a cube and come hang out if you're up for it” they state while pushing it into his room.
Primus they weren't helping the situation despite how much they tried to assist the bots, how close they came To nearly being snatched up by starscream in their meeting early, he knew it was just the rut and how sweet their scent was to the bots but even he was getting close to his limits with how much he could handle before he eventually succumb to the old coding.
He cycled a deep ventilation, savouring the sweet crystal high grade smell wafting from their form. It makes his sensors ache and his engine whine in need. “ thanks Lil’ Bit. Yer always lookin’ out fer us bots.” He hums as he leans down to grab the Energon Cube. Primus, they stirred circuitry like nothing ever had.
“Reckon ya better skedaddle now, ‘fore things get outta hand round here. We’ll be right as rain once this wave passes... but it ain’t no place fer a little sweet thing like yerself,  while tension are High with the Cons.” Most of the Bots hadn't Told the humans the reason as to why they had been asked to leave, many believed it was because of the Decepticons, and the Autobots not wanting any harm to come to them, in truth that was only part of the reason, the other part was how their scent made the cybertronians Rut worse and many of them weren't willing to risk hurting any of their allies Due to it. Didn’t stop Jazz from wishing, though, just for a taste, but he knew it wouldn't stop at just a taste.
Slight worry crosses their face as they look up at Jazz.  "Robo flu?, you didn't get that static bug again, or that little critter the Cons made which caused so much issue in the base last time" They teasingly inquire as they press a hand to his plating as if to check him for a fever out of habit.
a ragged vent of air leaves him at their touch, joints locking to steel against surging charge and wanting to grab them. Plating heated beneath their hand. His visor lit with barely-restrained longing as azure optics peered down at their concerned face. "Ain't no bug, cher," he lamented softly. "Jus' a bit of a... condition we bots get sometimes. Nuthin' t' worry yer pretty headplate 'bout."
Gentle digits itched to trace the curve of their cheek, taste their skin against glossa sensors gone mad with need. But he'd offlined his hardsuit protocols, locking down his traitorous system until after they left the room. His frame grew hotter with each passing breem.
"Ya best skedaddle now, sweetspark." His field pulsed bittersweet promise of a raincheck, "And leave you by your lonesome while Prowl's even more foul?, could keep you company and get you energon when you need it, plus don't need you having a short circuit while i'm gone, cant have my favourite DJ sick can i?" The sweet scent on their skin has Jazz nearly drooling as they offer to stay with him and keep him company.
Jazz cycled a shuddering vent engine whining loudly in need, grip creaking upon his half-empty cube as lithe form crossed their arms as they moved to make themself comfortable on his berth that was now piled with Blankets, tarps, polish clothes.
His systems flashing warning as the magnetic field begged surrender to baser instincts, he desperately wanted to interface or at least let off some steam before he lost his mind and control. "Gonna hafta refuse that favour, li'l sweet. Y'got no idea ... th' things ya do t'me right now." His digits flexed, aching to caress them, claim. He walks to the other side of the room as if an injured animal that's cornered.
Optics linger over their temptin' outline, memorising every curve as if famine-struck. "Please, lil' spark. F'r both our sakes." His Field pulsed apologetically for cutting their visit short, but he couldn't risk them. They stand up on the berth as he walks around in circles.
Worry lingers on their face as they try to calm him down. “Jazzie talk to me, you're walking around like a cornered animal and you're worrying me” they state as he stops in front of them, his frame stiff as he holds off one last attempt to let them leave before he does something he would regret. Jazz nearly purrs as they cup his face looking up at his visor. Their hands feel divine against his faceplate.
The last shred of Jazz's ironclad control sheared away as they ran their fingers across his faceplate holding his face as they stared into his optics as sparked couples would. Tender servo curls around their waist as he uses a digit to lift their chin as a rumble resonated from his cracked spark.  "So sweet t'care... but ya jus' don' understand, li'l sweetspark." Trembling digits traced the fragile line of their face, unable to withstand their pull any longer.
A deep, subsonic field pulsed from his frame. “I think I've got enough of an idea” they state while pressing their lips to his. A thundering roar leaves his engine as he grabs hold of them pulling them up against his frame as his lips desperately move against theirs. Tasting the sweet yet sinful flavour that is their skin.
He cycled his systems, warnings flashing critical. but Primus, how he ached to finally seize what haunted his every fantasised line of code...They whined loudly against his lips, his name muttered between breaths.
All of Jazz's fraying restraint snapped like cheap cabling. A strangled keen tore from his vocalizer as delicate grip yanked them flush against Plating as he eagerly pressed them down against the berth.
He seized their jaw in a trembling servo, glossa delving past yielding lips with a starved groan. They taste like ecstasy and Rust sticks. Another rumble left deep from his frame.
His other servo scoured down their back in rapture, digits aching to rip through their clothing and discard it across the floor. "Cher..." he gasped against their mouth. Name spilled like prayer as his interface panel snapped open his spike snaking out, straining against their covered form.
Whimpered moans leave them as his servos grip thier clothing, dragging it off their body as he throws it across the room, glossa tracing down their form as he eagerly laps against their skin.
At their little nosies Jazz’s Optics flared, visor blazing, Trembling servos gentled spead their thighs, pressing gentle kisses along them before he bites down and sucks a mark into the skin. “H-hold on t’ me, li’l one,” he rasped out as his glossa traces along their sex “Jus’ hang on tight. Lemme take care’a ya...”
Slowly, with far more grace than rationality warranted, Jazz began to rock his Glossa against their pulsing warmth with aching care. A loud groan and engine roar leaves him at the taste of them. His optics drank in every flicker of pleasure stealing across their face as the arch and rock against him.
His spike aches and leaks against the bedding as he slowly works his little human open with his glossa, preping and readying them.
Jazz burrowed his faceplate between their quivering legs, purrs interlacing pleasured moans dragging from his vocals. His servo curled beneath their legs, hitching them higher. "Primus, babydoll.. so perfect..." He gasped prayers and profanities, they arch and grip his helm as his glossa continues to drive into them. Their gasping cries, have his engine roaring louder.
He pulls away for a moment as he flips them lifting their hips up as he grinds his needy spike against their back, a guttural moan leaves him before he snarls, gripping their waist firmly. Jazz shuddered out a keening groan as he slowly presses his spike into them, stretching them to accommodate his size.
so tight - so hot and sweet he feared offlining upon first plunge into their sweet little form, their scent driving him wild as his field lets out pulse of energy.
He curled his servos around their fragile hips, grinding slowly into them, helm tilted back as he clenchs his denta from how tight of a fit it is. "Frag, yes!" he bellowed, slowly picking up pace as he drives into them. Their hands grip onto the blankets as needy moans and cries fall from their lips each time Jazz thrust back into them, grinding his spike into their Smaller form.
" So beautiful, so perfect...mmm, my Lil mate..." He gasped brokenly, intake clenching.
His thrusts turned feral, spike swelling. He dragged their joined frames up. Holding them to his frame as he goes into frenzy, slamming brutally home again and again.
"Mine," Jazz snarled ferally. "Gonna overload ya so fraggin' good, li'l cher..."
Another savage buck of his hips sent them keening, body pulsing and bucking as they cry out from pleasure. “Jazz oh God!, Jazz!” They claw at his plating desperately trying to grab hold of his arm as he drives into them as feral snarls leave him. A guttural groan echoed from Jazz's intake as their clamp and fluttered wildly around his spike,
"Frag, li'l bit-, that it, mmm so good" he moans, His spike throbbed mercilessly within their small channel, Another ragged groan was wrenched from depths of his frame as their orgasm hits, his name falling from their lips as if it were a prayer.
He tenses, another guttural moan leaves him and he presses them back down onto the berth, frantically griding into thier tight body. spike pulsing frantically. With a static-laced keen, Jazz finally tumbled over the edge, filling their much smaller body to the brim with bright pink transfluid. Jazz threw back his head with a roar as their tiny frame rolled back to meet each piston in desperation as he pumps more and more into their needy hole. "Frag, yes sweetspark - take it, take m'transfluid, take it all!"
He rolled deftly within, overload ripped through wiring in a cascade. Transfluid spurted from them as it rolls down their  thighs onto the berth as Jazz holds them close, smaller whines leavign his intake as he grinds into their shuttering body.
With one finally thust he settles, fan systems on full blast as his frame desperately tries to cool down as he rolls to his side, cradling their body against his, holding them close, his other servo piles the blankets around their exhausted body as he keeps them plugged with his spike. Little whimpered whines leave them as he leans his helm down to press a gentle kiss to their forhead. His systems are slow to reboot, but one thing was for certain,  he wasn't finished with them and he would be damned to the pits if he let them leave his berth until after everyone's rut had subsided. “don't move Babydoll, ain't done with ya yet” he mumbles voice still static laced as his optics shutter behind his visor.

Supercorptober - 14. Chill
Lena had knocked on Kara’s door, begging for help, and Kara had opened. Lena had stayed, and Kara had listened.
They had made a plan, to corner Lex and Leviathan - it would work, this time, and then maybe they could, too.
Lena had toiled in her hidden laboratory, away from Lex’s prying eyes, and she had built herself an armour - nano-bots, the swarm enveloping her in a full body-suit that rivalled (eclipsed) the Lexo-suit.
When Kara and the Super-friends confronted Lex, Lena was there, clad in her armour.
When Nia’s gun sputtered, Lena was there.
When the Kryptonite fell out of its chamber, and Kara’s veins filled with green, Lena was there.
Lena was there, too, as Alex stood, loaded it in her own gun, aimed, and fired at Lex.
Lena was there as her brother got hit and Kara got up, Kryptonite still pulsing in her veins.
Lena was there when Lex got up, unharmed but no longer immortal; and smirked.
Lex, who had been shot, and utterly beaten, was smirking, one arm hidden behind his back.
Lena knew her brother better than anyone. He was hiding something, another trick up his sleeve, something they hadn’t seen coming-
Lena didn’t blink.
Lena didn't blink, but somehow she missed it - the moment Kara stepped in front of her.
Supergirl was just there, suddenly, without warning, a shield and a buffer, between Lena and whatever Lex had planned.
But then again- hadn’t Kara always done that?
Oh.
Realisation hit Lena like a knife in the chest.
No. No, no, no-
"Goodbye, Supergirl.” Lex’s smile widened. “Good riddance!”
Lex pressed his thumb against the side of his latest toy.
Lena lifted her arm to fire.
Too late.
The Phantom Zone Projector whirred to life, Lena’s laser still captive in her suit.
Time slowed to a stop as the Projector cast an eerie azure light on them all, pointing directly at Kara, everyone else frozen still-
Lena wanted to scream, to move, to push Kara out of the way- but none of her members were responding, and all she could do was watch, in slow-motion, as the chill and the blue retreated and sucked Kara away with them.
Not Kara, not her, not Kara, please-
The superhero was already becoming translucent, intangible and out of reach, soon forever lost to the world, soon prisoner of her worst nightmare-
And Lena couldn’t move.
Not her, not again-
It should have been me.
“Kara!” Lena yelled; all that came out was a murmur, her vocal chords numb.
Still, Kara heard. Kara turned, her muscles struggling as she fought to resist the pull, a resolute smile painted across her lips-
I love you, she mouthed. The sound didn’t reach; the words did.
Assuredly, this wasn’t real- Time wouldn’t have stopped just for them, just for Lena, and Kara wouldn’t have fought just to say that, and, most importantly- Kara didn’t love her.
But if this was real-
Lena wasn’t taking any chances.
“Take me with you”, she demanded, because they couldn’t end like this, wouldn’t, when they hadn’t even started.
Lena could see Kara’s neck muscles, taut with tension, her jaw clenched and her tendons strained, yet Kara managed a slight shake of the head and the beginning of her signature smile before she turned back, visibly trembling from exhaustion-
“Kara!” Lena screamed. Her voice worked this time, golden tendrils in her throat and a pulsing light in her veins.
Lena reached out, and the gold stretched out as if to hold Kara back, wrapping around her hand like an intangible lifeline.
Too late, again.
Time had resumed, and the portal had closed, severing all ties between Kara and Earth forever - all of them, but the golden string still tied around Lena’s finger.
***********************************************************************************************
Ever since, Lena had worked relentlessly to bring Kara back, barely sleeping, stopping only on the verge of exhaustion.
The Super-friends thought it was her guilt, prompting her, and it assuredly played a part, but-
There was this stubborn pull on her index finger, this golden string that no one else could see-
And ever since Kara had been sucked through to the Phantom Zone, Lena could hear her in her head.
Hear her in snippets, hear her beg for mercy, hear her yell her name, and Alex’s, and others’, in a desperate cry.
Hear Kara talk to her directly, sometimes.
It should have been impossible. It was driving Lena crazy, crazier-
It's cold, Lena. So cold. I didn't think I would ever be back here.
And sometimes Lena would catch herself answering back, because- if she couldn't soothe Kara, the real one- maybe she could at least make do with the imaginary voice in her head.
You'll be okay, Kara. I promise. I'll bring you back, whatever it takes. I'll bring you back.
I believe you, imaginary Kara would say.
Why? Lena would ask, foolishly - wasn’t she just talking to herself?
I’ve always believed in you, Lena.
How could it be exactly Kara's voice? Exactly Supergirl's shade of hope?
Lena didn’t know, couldn’t explain it, but if every Luthor was destined to go mad, Lena decided - Kara’s voice damning her was a mercy.
***********************************************************************************************
There were dreams, too, or- nightmares.
Lena had had nightmares through the years, Lillian's cold smiles, Lionel's drunk tantrums, Lex going mad, Eve's betrayal, Adam's death, Kara wearing Lex's smile as she came clean, her mother dying-
She'd had nightmares through the years, but none like these. None where the emotions felt foreign but all the same familiar, none where she was extraordinarily affected yet not at all in control.
None where she watched herself die.
Lena feared many things - hubris, madness, abandonment -, but death wasn't one of them.
Yet there was a new voice in her head, and a new pull on her finger, and a newfound terror in her heart as she watched herself from the eyes of another, dying, over, and over, and over again.
Lena had never cared about her own safety before. This time, though, unexplainably, watching herself die was like being skewered through the heart-
She just wanted to make it stop.
She saw her own lifeless body on the floors of CatCo, saw herself be carried in strong arms, saw Alex try to revive her, felt her own (was it her own?) despair and fear as the-one-who-was-her-but-wasn’t blowed gently on her limp body to lower her temperature.
She saw herself again, be thrown against the ground by Metallo, felt green creep into her (not hers, but then why did she feel the burn so clearly?) veins, her helpless, agonising body too weak to move.
"Don't hurt her!”, she-who-wasn’t-she screamed - her voice foreign, yet all too familiar. Kara. Why do I have Kara’s voice?
Lena saw herself in situations that seemed invented, too- she gazed at herself in a Metallo suit, her heart beating green and her face expressionless as she - as Lena - blasted the-body-she-shared-with-dream-Kara  with concentrated Kryptonite.
"I'm sorry", their body said in Kara’s voice again, still gazing at unforgiving green, but they didn't fight, didn't try to get up, relief and pain overwhelming them before unconsciousness took over.
She saw herself with blonde children with green eyes, high cheekbones, running on the shore of a planet that was decidedly not Earth, saw a statue of herself in a lab coat on the main plaza - Lena Luthor, saviour of Argo, the plaque read.
Saw the planet erupt into flames and their world dissolve into nothingness and heard Kara’s voice-
Not again, please, not again- Rao- not them- not Lena, not them-
And then Lena inescapably woke up with a gasp, a scream stuck in her throat and her heart beating into overdrive-
A voice in her head calling her name.
Lena? Lena! Lena, please tell me you’re alive, please tell me this wasn’t real, Lena-
I’m here, she’d inevitably answer. This wasn’t real, Kara. It was just a nightmare.
This wasn’t real. This was just a nightmare, Kara, I promise. And Lena would repeat these words like a mantra, on a loop, forever, if it meant imaginary Kara would believe them.
Eventually, imaginary Kara did, the ache in Lena’s chest subsiding - and the throbbing on her index finger fading away.
***********************************************************************************************
It took Lena a while to figure out that the dreams weren’t hers, the fears weren’t hers, the voice in her head wasn’t hers.
Regardless, the realisation hadn’t helped.
Lena didn’t understand and didn’t want to try, lest she discovered that there was nothing to understand but obsession, guilt, and her slow descent into madness.
So Lena doubled down on the science, working restlessly until she finalised the Q-wave detector and called Alex to her side.
“Alex. I think I found a way to bring her home.”
Hope filled Lena’s voice as she exposed her strategy to Alex, minutely explaining every detail with more enthusiasm than she’d shown in months. Her plan could work. It could work - it was the only tangible plan they’d had in weeks, and Lena was ecstatic.
“There’s just one thing,” she finished. “I am going to need a piece of Kara to bring her back. Something to trace her, to identify her, to calibrate the Q-wave detector.”
Wordlessly, Alex handed her the crystal she’d been toying with for weeks.
Lena gawked.
“This crystal contains Kara’s digital signature. I want you to use it to find her.”
Alex’s hand was still hanging in the air as Lena shook her head in disbelief.
“I’m hopeful I can find her, but, there are no guarantees, Alex, and, if I use it- you’ll lose the recording forever-“
Alex presses it into her palm, and Lena gapes at the certainty in the agent’s gaze.
“I trust you, Lena.”
Of course she does, Kara’s voice echoes. I did, too. Even if I was terrible at showing it.
***********************************************************************************************
Lena’s success had been short-lived, Alex tearing her heart - both their hearts - to shreds before Lena could even celebrate.
Because the city was in danger. Because “Kara would have picked others before herself“. Because Alex wouldn’t do that to her sister, letting thousands die to save her.
But Lena wasn’t Kara, Lena wasn’t Alex, Lena was selfish and she would-
The device flew out of her hand and into Alex’s, the agent’s guilty eyes her only apology.
I’m sorry, Kara, I’m so sorry, she took it, and now-
Lena’s despair must have seeped through the cracks because imaginary Kara’s elusive voice answered immediately.
It’s okay, Lena. It’s okay. You did the right thing, you both did the right thing.
But you- you’re still stuck there, Kara! While we’re saving thousands of people we’re letting you suffer in this horrible place-
I’ll be okay, Lena. Just- please, don’t leave me. Don’t leave me again.
Lena doesn’t have any idea how she could be leaving a voice in her head behind, but even if she could-
I wouldn’t dream of it.
***********************************************************************************************
Alex had saved the city, with Lena’s creation and Kara’s last hope.
“There’s always another way, Lena. Kara taught us that”, she’d lectured - Lena had scoffed at the empty reassurance and raged at the denial, resentment burning like acid in her throat at the utilitarian choice, because-
Lena had looked for seven weeks, and-
There was no other way.
***********************************************************************************************
Imaginary Kara had been almost silent since then, her voice growing weaker in Lena’s head, and it felt like she was giving up, but she couldn’t give up. Lena wouldn’t let her.
Except that Lena and Brainy, together, had not come up with anything new in days.
“It’s not working, Lena! It’s not working! We’ll never find a way to localise her, because science cannot make miracles, and we just burnt our last trace of Kara so we could save people who will never even be grateful to her! We don’t have anything- anything, you hear me, nothing linking us to her, and- it hurts, it hurts so much, Lena, I miss her, I miss her-”
Brainy’s tirade ended in a desperate cry, echoed by the tears on Lena’s cheeks and the agonising cramping of her lungs.
Lena didn’t believe in magic. She didn’t believe in magic, but Kara’s voice rung out in her head and Kara’s pain squeezed her heart in her chest and a golden string was wrapped around her finger-
You really don’t believe in magic? Imaginary Kara chose this precise moment to pipe up, curious and alert for the first time in days.
Lena’s relief was palpable, her reply instantaneous.
I believe in you.
Lena could feel imaginary Kara smile at her answer; in her head, from another dimension. Impossible. Crazy.
But in the end- what did Lena have to lose?
“Brainy, do you believe in magic?”
Brainy wiped away his tears, taking a moment to compose himself before answering.
“Do you think it might help?”
“I- You think it’s real?”
Brainy nodded. “It is. Magic has been referenced and studied and wielded by dozens of thousands of civilisations along the years. Humans seem to have unfortunately forgotten it, but it certainly exists. Magic permeates the very air around us - however, only a select few individuals are blessed with the ability to perceive it, and manipulate it at will. I believe Earthlings call them witches.”
“I think a link was created between Kara and I before the portal closed. And- if it’s real- do you think we could use it to find her?”
“What kind of link?”
Lena extended her right hand for observation. Brainy simply frowned.
“Why are you showing me your hand?”
“Around my pointer finger, there’s- never mind. It’s probably stupid.”
“Tell me, Lena.”
Lena took in a deep breath, her eyes lifting daringly to look straight at Brainy.
“There’s a golden string tied around my pointer finger. And I think it may lead to Kara."
Brainy cocked his head, a curious glint in his still wet eyes and the beginning of a smile on his lips.
“In that case- I have something that just might work.”
A few seconds later, Brainy was whipping out a leather-bound grimoire that looked like it had transcended millennia.
“Is this a magic book?”
Brainy smirked. “What better tool for a witch?”
***********************************************************************************************
It took a few hours for Lena to wrap her head around the notion of witches - the shock lessened by Kara’s voice in her head, providing trivia about the first line of witches on Krypton.
After, Lena had to dedicate a few days to complete her reading of the book, filled with various amounts of dramatic statements and warnings, interspersed with what seemed like truly valuable information.
Lena pointedly ignored the flowery language and the cautionary injunctions, focusing instead on the information the book held on magic control, magic manipulation, and the art of finding.
The first step was obvious, described unambiguously in the first pages of the book: Lena needed to learn to access her magic.
Clear as the process may be - whichever instructions Lena followed, whatever many hours of meditation she subjected herself to- nothing seemed to work.
I’m sorry, Kara. I’m so sorry, I’m stuck, and I can’t- it won’t come- I can’t control it.
You don’t have to. Just- have you tried trusting yourself? Letting it come to you?
I- But what if it blows up? What if I can’t control it? What if I go crazy and my powers go rogue?
You won’t. They won’t. These powers are part of you, Lena. They won’t betray you. I know I- An immaterial self-deprecating laugh. I know I did, but- you never deserved it. You deserved to be trusted and loved and cherished and I’m sorry, Lena, I am so sorry, but this was always my fault. My own fears, my own insecurities, my own shortcomings. Your powers are a part of you, and they are good, and kind, like you. I know I have no right to ask this of you anymore, but- trust yourself for me?
***********************************************************************************************
When golden smoke finally materialised and shimmered over Lena’s hands, she didn’t dare breathe for a handful of seconds, afraid the illusion would dissipate and take their delusional hope with it.
The smoke persisted.
“I did it”, Lena whispered, her voice tainted with disbelief.
I did it, Kara. I did it! I did it. I will bring you home.
“I did it!”, Lena yelled out loud, in relief and exhilaration, her own voice startling in the emptiness of the Tower.
She hadn’t noticed how late it had gotten, the hands of the clock ticking dangerously close to three A.M..
Alex had long given up on trying to coax her into going home at a decent hour.
As a matter of fact, Lena’s nightly stays had gotten so frequent that J’onn had set up an actual bed in the Tower for her after she’d fallen asleep at her desk one too many times, and woken up with agonising neck pain.
I did it, Kara, Lena repeated in her head.
Never doubted you, Kara’s voice answered, quietly, but with such conviction that Lena felt her chest grow a little fuller.
Lena didn’t know when she’d started believing that the voice in her head was really Kara (maybe she always had).
Lena didn’t know, either, when what she would have dismissed as empty reassurances had  once again become her primary source of comfort.
***********************************************************************************************
The location spell, facilitated with the string still stubbornly tied to Lena’s pointer finger, only took her the better part of the night.
When the sun rose, waking Lena from her accidental slumber, and Alex came in, bearing coffee and her signature worried frown, she was met with a radiant smile and the mark of the leather’s carvings on Lena’s cheek.
“I did it, Alex. I found her.”
Alex quirked a sceptical brow, an incredulous look on her face. Lena just raised her hand in response, palm open.
There,  inscribed in golden light, dancing on the inside on her palm, was a set of four unstable coordinates.
Alex traced them with her finger, a disbelieving smile painted across her lips. “You did it, Lena”,  she murmured. “You really did it.”
***********************************************************************************************
Boarding J’onn’s ship and guiding it to Kara turned out a surprisingly easy task, the coordinates acting like a beacon, the golden thread like a compass.
The sunlight grenades that Lena had designed but never gotten to make - finished by Brainy a few days after the witch discovery - illuminated the ghastly plane in vibrant yellow as Kara regained the power of flight, and rose majestically to the space-ship.
Lena watched in amazement - her best friend returning to her - the thread around her finger thrumming as Kara got closer.
Alex was the first to be hugged, Kara’s head burying in her collarbone. Then came J’onn, his fatherly embrace drawing tears, then Brainy, oddly in tune with his emotions, then Nia, the long lost daughter, then-
Only Lena was left.
She hadn’t noticed she was crying until she felt wetness on her cheeks. Imaginary Kara was silent, the phantom pain in Lena’s chest soothed somewhat, and Kara- Kara was looking at her.
Lena felt the tug again - in her chest, this time - and she complied, putting one foot in front of the other until-
Kara must have felt the tug, too, but she remained still, only opening her arms. Lena’s choice. It was always Lena’s choice, with Kara. Maybe it would be with Supergirl, too.
Lena took the final step, Kara’s arms closed around her, and the tug relented, something ancient and powerful singing in Lena’s veins as she melted into Kara’s embrace.
She could feel her body light up at Kara’s contact, indescribable warmth coursing over her skin as she revelled at the presence of her best friend.
Kara had closed her eyes contentedly, Lena’s head buried in her collarbones, so none of them saw- but the others stared in amazement as impalpable gold swirled around them like a consecration.
Gold was still settling when Kara opened her eyes.
“Oh”, she said, and Lena reluctantly lifted her head from the crook of Kara’s neck, particles of light dancing and shimmering around her.
“Oh”, Lena echoed in turn.
Her cheeks burnt at the involuntary display, and Lena promptly hid her blush by dropping her head against Kara’s shoulder.
I was just happy to see you, I think.
A wet chuckle, then:
“It’s only because you’re on the team that I’m here.”
I was so happy to see you, too.
Lena sniffled, and tried to silence imaginary Kara - You’re not real, she thought. You’re not real, and Kara is back, so let me-
Real Kara broke their embrace, her hands finding Lena’s like opposite magnets, her tantalising gaze fixated on Lena-
You think I’m not real?
Well-
“Wow, talk about out-staging us, Lena.” Alex’s voice cut them — Lena and her lively imaginary friend — off; and Lena felt, more than saw, Kara’s hands slide out of hers at the interruption.
“The gold was a bit much, don’t you think?”, Alex teased, a knowing smirk on her lips.
For the second time in a handful of seconds, Lena felt blood rush to her face.
Luckily, Alex didn’t dwell on the subject, apologising to Kara instead for Kelly’s absence.
***********************************************************************************************
The rest of the afternoon passed in a whirlwind of emotional reunions and necessary catch-ups.
Lena assisted to most of it, electing to take the backseat as a silent observer.
Because the Super-friends were a family, to which Lena didn’t belong.
Kara had hugged her, sure, but they had so many unresolved tensions, so many grievances, so many wounds, that- Lena wasn’t sure she would ever be part of Kara’s family again (had she ever been part of it in the first place?).
It happened once, then twice, then a dozen times- Kara searching for Lena’s eyes across the room, the intensity of her gaze enough for the insistent tug on Lena’s finger to let up for a moment.
And then, as Lena was about to leave, making eye contact with Kara, who was in a deep discussion with Nia about her growth as Dreamer:
Meet me at my apartment, in an hour?
Kara hadn’t spoken but Lena had heard her, clear as day, Kara’s eyes bearing the silent question like an unspoken challenge.
Kara’s gaze is still on her, so Lena nods imperceptibly.
I’ll be there, she thinks, and she can swear that she sees real-Kara smile.
***********************************************************************************************
You’re just a figment of my imagination. You’re not real.
Lena is waiting in front of Kara’s apartment. She’s ten minutes in advance - not wanting to take chances with imaginary-Kara’s demands. Sue her.
You’re not real, you’re not real, you’re not real-
“What if I am, Lena?”
It’s real-Kara’s voice, spoken out loud in the open air of the corridor, that startles Lena out of her thoughts.
“Kara! You scared me!”
Kara smiles slightly, brushing past Lena as she makes her way to her door, unlocks it, pushes it open.
“Sorry,” she shrugs sheepishly.
Only after the door closes behind them do Kara’s words finally reach Lena’s brain.
“Did you- Kara, what did you just say?”
What if I am real? Imaginary Kara answers, and Kara simply watches, silent, one expectant eyebrow raised.
“But you- you’re not- you can’t be-“
“I am. And I can hear you, too.”
Lena only notices her hands are shaking when Kara takes them into hers, her voice soft, so soft, as she inquires:
“Alex told me how you found me. How you crafted the spell. Don’t you have to believe in magic for your powers to work? Didn’t you have to believe that it was real for you to rescue me?”
“Yes, but then- all the dreams- the conversations-“
“They were real, for me. The nightmares- that’s what the Phantom Zone does to its prisoners. Torture them with their deepest fears, forever. But I was supposed to go through that alone, Lena, and somehow- I could feel you there with me. So. I wanted to say that I’m sorry. I’m so sorry you had to go through that, too, because of me. Rao knows you didn’t deserve any of it.”
Neither did you.
Kara’s throat bobs and Lena steps closer, burrowing herself in Kara’s arms, her own arms sealing their hold on her ex-best friend as if she’s liable to disappear any second.
Did it help? Lena thinks. Being bound to me?
“Yes,” Kara whispers. “So much. I- I don’t think I would have survived without you. Not the second time around. Having your voice in my head, being able to hear it, it tethered me to reality, to you-”
Kara’s voice breaks.
You have no idea in how many ways you saved me.
“You saved me, first,” Lena murmurs, her nose pressed against Kara’s neck, her lips almost brushing Kara’s skin.
I love you, too, she thinks, too chicken to say it out loud; but if Kara’s smile against her collarbone is any indication, Kara heard. I’m sorry I didn’t say it back.
S’okay. I didn’t deserve it.
Lena has heard imaginary-Kara being self-deprecating before, but this is real-Kara, and-
Lena breaks the hug to look Kara in the eyes, tone serious and focused as she states:
“You did deserve it. You deserve the world, Kara, but I- didn’t see any of it until you were ripped away, and sent on your own to this God-awful place-”
I wasn’t on my own. I had you.
Lena’s breath is a shudder.
You always have me, Kara.
For how long?
However long you want me.
Lena thinks whatever spell ties them together must have suddenly stopped working. Seconds elapse like an unstoppable flow, yet Kara doesn’t answer, gives no indication that she’s heard besides the barely noticeable tremors of her shoulders against Lena’s - is Lena imagining them?
Lena’s hold tightens on Kara and Kara’s trembling must be real, because her voice is unsteady, and so small, when she says:
“I’ve always wanted you, Lena. I don’t think I could ever stop.”
“I’ve always wanted you, too.” Lena confesses in Kara’s ear, and Lena feels the dam break in her own chest as Kara’s tremors morph into sobs; big, ugly, irrepressible ones.
Lena is holding her, so Kara can break. After all- Lena has always been so good at putting the pieces of her back together.

Fellow eldritch creatures, I wish to speak on some more if Southern Tfa Optimus prime, specifically Angry/Irritated Southern Tfa Optimus prime for a quick second.
*inhale.. Exhale*
When Optimus gets angry or even irritated, I like to imagine he walks away from the conversation or whatever he's doing at the moment to give himself a minute to regroup and go about the situation rationally.
But if he doesn't get that chance, well his whole attitude starts to shift a bit.
*We all remember when Optimus yelled at Prowl about the dino bots in that one episode right? How his engine revved and especially the look on his face. Oh and the growling when he was taking deep breaths just to calm down 🙏😭. Anyway-*
his accent will grow thicker and his voice deepens, oh deliciously deepens the more angry/irritated he gets. The sneers he gets on his face-
If you end up in a unwelcomed confrontation. Best believe he'll come to your rescue, weather your dating at that point or not.
He'll absolutely stare down the person who messed with you (or the team) with a deadly false smile, making sure to show off his sharp canines. Sneering down at them, damn near snarling if they don't catch the memo.
(Of course he wouldn't 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 snarl at someone but it's a nice thought 😒😌) . The sneering is a 100% guaranteed tho, only if necessary. ᴏɴʟʏ ᴊᴜsᴛ ᴀ ᴛɪɴʏ sɴᴇᴇʀ, ɢᴏᴛᴛᴀ ᴇᴇᴘ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏᴏᴅ ʙᴏʏ ғᴀᴄᴇ ɪɴ ᴘᴜʙʟɪᴄ
His optics will darken from their azure blue to a dangerous Oxford blue. The glare in his optics is something that he wouldn't hide.
He would make sure the person walks away fully then immediately turn his attention to you, looking over, making sure your alright.
Of course, all his irritation and or anger goes away the minute he turns to you. Such a sweet mech! He talks in a softer tone and holds your hand. Gazing at you like the stars had just blessed him💙
Now he has a lot of patience and I mean a lot. From keeping an optic on sari and Bumblebee, those two are a magnet for mischief. Keeping up with the decepticons activities and not to mention when The elite guard showed up...
But when 𝙮𝙤𝙪 start to press his buttons, it's.. Different. He won't be angry, oh no never that. But he will get tested on his self control and boy it surprises the both of you just how much he has.
It's like a full on game of cat and mouse, playful and teasing. With just enough edge to it to make you both excited.
Now let's say a series of things has been happening for the past couple of days. Decepticon activity has increased lately, Megatron has been annoyingly repetitive in recent attacks and it has everyone on edge. This time when they attack it seems no different.
Everytime they go into battle, you come along to keep sari out if the way. That's just the way things were, it's a dynamic that works.
This of course is making Optimus more protective over you, but also making it hard for him to focus on the battle at hand. Always looking for you whilst still in the middle of fighting. He's concerned okay!😔
Starscream of course sees this and uses it against Optimus, aims his null rays at you and fires. Optimus rushes in and takes the shot for you and it hits him in the shoulder plating. Now it isn't a bad wound but it's not good either. But it sure does piss Optimus all the way off!
Like Optimus snaps his helm to snarl at starscream so fast there was a definite cracking sound. And the sound Optimus made was borderline animalistic, pared with his frame shaking from pure rage and pain. His engine adding that extra danger vibes.
Now from your position, you can't see Optimus' face. But you can Obviously see his body language. And so can everyone else on the battlefield.
When I tell you everyone stopped mid fight and starred, they 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙙. Like Optics/Eyes wide and everything.
#newfearunlocked

I am so so so sorry this took forever! 😭😭😭😭 like a lot of stuff came up and tbh I completely forgot about this!! But there will be more of it just most likely not anytime soon.
But I will ask: What are 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 headcanons on Country TFA Optimus prime??

What if BlitzBee started when Blitzwing and Lugnut arrived on earth?
Like, what if Blitzwing got hit with cupid's arrow the moment he saw Bee- the little yellow Autobot with a smile brighter than the sun, a frame so small yet attractive, the confidence he spoke with in the few minutes they met and, oh Primus, those enchanting azure optics-
He just can't get over that minibot.
So he devices a plan to court this golden beauty for himself. The next time the 'cons and 'bots meet, Blitzwing snatches Bumblebee the first chance he gets and ditches the whole fight. He flies up to the highest skyscraper in Detroit- there is a neat little picnic set up, oil, some rust snacks, even few fancy meal-metals that Blitz snatched from Nemesis. Bee is very confused when Blitzwing says 'why fight when you can talk', but he's not about to protest- he is on top of a very tall building and next to him is a transformer 3 times his size- he can't run and he doesn't want to die if this apparently famous criminal changes his mind.
So they spend some time together, they talk, eat the snacks, at one point Blitzwing calls him cute and Bee just doesn't know how to respond. He's never gotten a compliment before, everyone just shat on him the moment he got forged, only thing that kept him going was pure spite.
Lugnut interrupts on Blitz's comm, telling him to get his aft to base cuz the fight is over. Blitz stands up, takes Bee's servo and in an oddly romantic tone and says "Until zhe next time." then he stands on the edge and with a salute tilts back. Bee was about to say something but Blitz falls and the next thing he sees is a jet flying into the clouds.
Optimus contacted him after both of the 'cons disappeared. Bee didn't know what to tell him so he just said what happened; Blitz snached him and they had a picnic. And that he needs help getting down from a skyscraper. He was too confused to come up with a reason why this new Decepticon did that, nor were the others. They had to get a police 'copter to come get him.
The next time Bee saw Blitzwing was when he and Prowl were sent to investigate some weird activity a civilian reported- only to find Blitzwing with a whole makeshift disco ring. Blitz proceded to run at them and both of them thought he was gonna attack them- but then he pulled a smooth card and slid up on his knee to Bee and pulled out a big boquet of sunflowers. "Pretty zhings for a pretty bot.~" He said with a big red grin.
Blitz actually wanted to pull Bee to a dance before Prowl snatched him and drove away as fast as he could, Bee was glad his pedes has wheels on them otherwise he would be leaving a screeching trail of sparks.
The next meetings were more obvious- well, very obvious; Blitzwing straight up flirted with Bee whenever he saw him. The others were worried about Bee, who just seemed to take it. The most annoyed by Blitzwing's attempts to court Bee was Prowl. He didn't like that a dangerous Decepticon was trying to win one of theirs' spark- especially since that one of theirs was Bumblebee. Prowl was the one to get involved and separate the big 'con from the minibot when they fought. He kept that creep away from Bee for the most part.
One time he and Bee were patrolling they bumbed into Blitzwing. They ended up talking/bantering until Prowl spoke up and told him to leave Bee alone; a discussion evolved into an argument. Bee called in back-up, when the others got there they were met with Prowl and Blitzwing screeching at one another while Bee sat there unable to go home. They were talking with Bee when they heard a scream- Blitzwing had a kunai in his visor, "COME HERE AND I'LL GIVE YOU THE OTHER!!" Prowl yelled, holding the other kunai to stab him with. Optimus had to pick him up while the others chased Blitz away- He was absolutely ready to throw servos with the mech. They went back to base once Prowl stopped being rabid.
So from then on the ones to fight are Prowl and Blitzwing- Prowl thinks he's protecting Bee from this creep while really he's just jealous and doesn't want to admit it, he does like Bee as more than a friend and doesn't want anything bad happening to him. Blitzwing meanwhile just wants to get together with Bee and have the scout look at him with the same adoration as Blitzwing holds for him.
There are multiple times Prowl and Blitz argue so loud about Bee it becomes clear Prowl is after Bee as well. The others don't know whether they should tell Bee that or not; the scout is just very confused why everyone wants to be his best friend.
Then there comes the Elite Guard along with the other Prime, Longarm. Longarm- or rather Shockwave has been close friends with Bee since boot camp, he really liked Bee and wanted to ask him out on multiple occasions, but similar to Prowl- he just never built up the courage to do so. So he gets there and sees this whole drama with both Blitzwing and Prowl trying to win Bee's Spark.
So, of course, he has to get involved. Longarm is very chill and doesn't make it so obvious. He and Bee hang out, no one suspects anything and Bee actually enjoys it- that's until things get very heated with Prowl and Blitzwing and Longarm also gets jealous and whoops, one wrong comment and it's obvious he's after Bee too.
So now there's these 3 disasters trying to court Bee while also trying to eliminate the other 2. Bee is just sitting in Bulk's subspace all the time, worried to go out because both Prowl and Longarm are at the base and he can't go outside cuz Blitzwing is there.
Now you might think he'll be after Bee too, but nah. He openly admits he'll never see Bee as anything more than a best friend.
I think at one point Starscream will get involved, he'll kidnap Bee for fun- he doesn't actually know what's going on, he just likes seeing everyone pissed off.
Blitz will have a public argument with Longarm about him being a spy to eliminate him from the competition- which Longarm of course denies. Not sure what that will lead to.
I don't know where to take it, it's just a funny idea with no actual ending. Feel free to send me suggestions on what might happen and who are you rooting for. X3

Over the coming week I'll be ensuring the configuration for the website hosting is backed up such that I can take the website down this Friday and maybe bring it back up at a later date when money allows.
Because of how hosting on Microsoft Azure works, the most I could do is move the site to a free tier which removes my ability to have background processes such as the discord bot and item fetcher. And is also terribly slow. The only part of the site that will remain working at that point is the skintester and code snippets. But the FR data (genes, breeds, etc) will gradually go out of date whenever there is an update unless I manually run an update from my pc. Item data will not be update live(ish) anymore either. I'll would probably keep the storage and database intact as their cost mostly comes from usage, not existence.
All this though, for an extremely subpar and heavily degraded experience with a lot of functionality nonlonger working. So I'm just going to take the website down, all or nothing I feel is better than removing stuff people have grown accustomed to.
Thank you for those who helped keep the going these past few months, the help has been tremendous but it looks like capitalism wins this battle.
Thank you FR community for letting me make this, for standing by me with understanding and letting me serve you with a helping hand where Flight Rising itself refused.
