Weird, they don't usually breed in France. Must be something to do with climate change.

Virtual Sketchbook: Entry 2
Journaling
Connecting to the World
Working as a freelance designer, I am always challenged not only by finding the perfect font, but finding the right color scheme that compliments the brand. When working with a client, I ask them to send me pictures that inspire them, from there I gather a series of colors from the images. When creating the brand identity, I may use different hues of a color or I may intensify/saturate colors to fit the brand best. Choosing colors that represent your brand is almost as important as the brand itself, for example; if i’m designing for a boho baby boutique named “Sweet Dreams”, I wouldn’t want to use neon colors, I would use more muted earth tones of the colors chosen. When I think about and the colors that represent me, I would pick a deep emerald green, sage green, blush pink, terra-cotta and cream.
Art Project
I challenged myself to paint a picture inspired by a photograph of my grandmother from the 60s.
Black and White vs. Color Photography
Black and White (Photo Credit: Issac Spotts)
The photographer originally edited this photo of a great grey owl in color but decided to play around with black and white; in doing so he created a moody & fierce photo pulling your attention to the intensity of the animal’s eyes while it dives in for its prey. I think the choice to edit the photo in black and white was very effective, it makes you stop and look closer at the details that you maybe wouldn’t have noticed otherwise; for instance, the beautiful patterns of the feathers creating a camouflage used to blend into their surroundings.

This photo captures a participant in the Rangwali Holi festival, also known as the festival of colors and the choice to keep this photo in color really embraces the meaning behind the celebration and inflicts happiness when you see it. Holi is a festival celebrated in India and around the world, celebrating the arrival of spring and the passing of winter; it’s a festival where everyone puts their feelings and opinions aside and celebrate together by singing, dancing and throwing colors which are meant to represent the flowers and herbs.

This birds eye view photograph taken with a drone by award winning photographer Azim Khan Ronnie shows more than 600,000 devotees who participated in Asia’s largest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation, Gor-e-Shahid Boro Math in Bangladesh. From bird’s eye view, it is absolutely magnificent and looks almost mosaic like with its various colours and small rectangular appearances from the prayer rug’s. To me it demonstrates unity, faith and love. However looking at this image now during the midst of a world wide pandemic, it seems alien to be looking at such a large number of people congregated together in one space. The pattern is unusually harmonising and you would never imagine a large amount of people could unknowingly make such a strung together motif.
