“Tribal Farmers Sell Their Fruit”
by Azim Khan Ronnie (Bangladesh)
“Boats fan out across a stretch of the lake, creating a floating market selling an array of fresh fruit. This is a floating market of seasonal fruits such as jackfruit, pineapple, mango etc. at Rangamati, Bangladesh. The tribal farmers sell their fruit every early morning at minimum price on a wholesale basis.”

This birds eye view photograph taken with a drone by award winning photographer Azim Khan Ronnie shows more than 600,000 devotees who participated in Asia’s largest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation, Gor-e-Shahid Boro Math in Bangladesh. From bird’s eye view, it is absolutely magnificent and looks almost mosaic like with its various colours and small rectangular appearances from the prayer rug’s. To me it demonstrates unity, faith and love. However looking at this image now during the midst of a world wide pandemic, it seems alien to be looking at such a large number of people congregated together in one space. The pattern is unusually harmonising and you would never imagine a large amount of people could unknowingly make such a strung together motif.

Countless chilli peppers surround labourers in the Bogra district in the north of Bangladesh. More than 2,000 people work in almost 100 chilli farms in Bogra in Bangladesh to supply local spice companies with chillies for use in their recipes. Chilli peppers are a major part of the Bengali cuisine popular in Bangladesh and are used as part of a combination of spices for various meat dishes, including chicken and beef.
