When the azaan calls out

The silence, the call to prayer as the background and birds chirping over the sunset. What a bliss it was. Hearing the call to prayer (azan) somehow brings peace. When it’s called out “Allahuakbar” (Allah is great) it somehow consoles me, reminding me that Allah is greater than my worries, greater than my problems, His mercy is greater than my sins, His love is greater than anything. And that if I were to ever feel like I’m losing hope, it reminds me 5 times a day that He is greater than everything.

And when it’s called out “hayya ‘ala solah hayya ‘alal falah” (come to salaah, come to success) it reminds me that in my depth of despair, come to Him. He calls to come to success through salaah. Succeed in what? Success in jumping over these hardships, success in being patient and hopeful. That it’s ending will always be a good one. And all that I needed to do is just to come to salaah, and that is come to Him.

“And when My servants walk unto Me, I run unto him”
