Hot chocolate (two words technically I’m sorry, does it still count?)
It absolutely counts !!! also sorry this is slightly angsty but its sweet too,.. only slightly. its all good. i hope u like it <3 also i googled how to make hot chocolate from cocoa beans and its a 7 step process so lets pretend etho did not do that
WC: 830
HOMAGE.
The sky above was split down the middle, endless black consecrated by a sepia galaxy.
It was beautiful. It was terrifying.
It was just night time.
Bdubs had to look away; gaze falling once again to his hands, studying the new blisters and calluses, poking at a particularly rough patch of skin. The cobblestone house they’d built wasn’t much to look at, with it's colour palette particularly dull and lifeless. It didn’t even have a floor! Ah… he had to remind himself that those things didn’t matter. Everything they did now was about safety and survival.
Tomorrow it would need walls, towers to shoot from, — any form of defence possible.
That was tomorrow.
He needed to relax.
But it was night time. He was supposed to be in bed, tucked up and safe, waiting for the moon to complete her sweep across the world. Instead he was outside, sitting on the wooden balcony, picking his hands further to shreds with every worried glance to the treeline.
It was hard to feel normal after the day he’d had.
Of course he’d felt what it was like to be a red life before. Bdubs knew all about the insatiable hunger, the want to hunt and kill the people he loved. Third Life was still present in everyone's brains like rot, and yet, here they all were, doing it again. Always falling into place without second thought. Only this time with worse mechanics. Mechanics that he had had the luck to experience on day one.
Being the boogeyman didn’t feel like being a red life. No, no. It was a quick rush of bloodlust, vs a constant drum. It was scary, really,  what he had felt capable of in the moment; and now that he was free of the curse, Bdubs found himself feeling disconnected from every other player. Not alone… per say, —---- but yes, alone.
Maybe Grian was the only other person who knew how he felt.
They were the firsts. The catalysts.
The wooden door creaked open behind him, he flinched. A mug entered his peripheral. He let it hover there for a beat as his mind blanked, before curling his fingers around the handle. It was full of something warm, the porcelain stinging his blisters. He took a sip.
It had no sugar, more water than milk, and the cocoa beans hadn’t been crushed enough, ( who freaking knows where they had even come from, the server did NOT have a jungle. ) Really, it was more a homage to hot chocolate than anything.
Bdubs absolutely loved it.
“Mm,” he didn’t look up towards the supplier. He didn’t need to. To him, Etho was knowable just by sound. By presence.
“Figured if you were going to sit out here in the cold getting sick, well, —-- I might as well join you.”
“Awh, how brave of ya,----” Bdubs grinned. “----for all you know i’m still feelin’ the effects.”
“The effects?”
“The oooooogyboogey man, Etho,“ he spread his free fingers out and wiggled them, eyes wide with drama.
Etho chuckled, lowering himself down to the platform next to him, legs crossed. His knee rested against Bdubs’ thigh. He had his own mug, steam swirling above it. “Wouldn’t matter. You didn’t kill me in the caves, did you?”
“Alright alright, don’t have to sound so smug ‘bout it.”
“Oh, but I do.”
“YEAH! WELL!---“ Bdubs cut himself short, his voice booming through the clearing. If anyone was nearby, lurking, hunting, waiting… “... Right., right. Quiet.”
“They wouldn’t come here. We have a trained killer within the residence—”
Bdubs forced a laugh.
“-----And we also have you, I guess,” Etho finished, bumping their arms together. Hot chocolate flew from his mug to freckle the ground below.
“Oh, hah hah, very funny,” truth be told, if someone were to attack them then and there, the cows living in their home would be better defence than Bdubs could ever be. He was tired, in both ways.
In all ways.
...
“Thank you,” Etho wouldn’t look at him as he spoke.
“For?”
“Not killing me. You could have done, — many many times. But you didn’t. Thanks, Bdubs.”
Bdubs sighed, the sound blending into the atmosphere. He waited, letting the sentence stew around them. “Yeah, Well, next time I won’t hesitate. I’ll make you target number one.”
“Nah, I don’t think you will.”
Bdubs didn’t answer, taking a drink from his cooling mug. He leaned his head on Etho’s shoulder, closing his eyes. Thirty seconds passed before a hand gently took his own, fingers entwined. Etho had bumps and broken skin, too. From building, from mining, from living. He felt it as he pushed their palms together.
Would Etho remain appreciative? Or would his words soon become an apology for later, when he too experienced the curse and backstabbed him? It was all part of the games, after all. An easy kill was an easy kill, —-- he’d just been too stupid to take it.
Too something, to take it.
It didn’t matter. That, too, was for tomorrow.
Tonight, they could have their hot chocolate.

personality: can be very contradicting: i’m shy and can be easily flustered, i have a bit of anxiety, but i can also be loud and a lot of fun! i enjoy creating chaos and i like to tease (like how dazai treats chuuya and kunikida) i’m usually very positive, smiley and i love to laugh, but i also tend to make split second decisions constantly leaving me in the mindset of “fuck it” and “oh god why did i do that” + im an ambivert
date ideas: aquarium, festivals, amusement park/carnivals, cafe/bookstores
feelings abt physical touch: i personally love physical touch, but im touch starved so i don’t get a lot of it; im also kinda embarrassed to ask for it too🥲
feelings abt flirting: im too shy to actually do any sort of typical flirting, but apparently i do that thing where im flirting but i don’t know it // i think being flirted with (although kinda embarrassing) can be fun, flattering, and kinda cute as long as it’s not too overbearing and inappropriate
crushes: yes, i do try to hide it when i have a crush on someone; when im around the person, i act as i usually act around them so that they and nobody else knows

Let's say you are a new waitress at the Café Uzumaki...
In general, Atsushi and you are a lovely pair of people to watch interact with each other. It's either a bunch of shy, polite smalltalk and short, awkward silence in between topics, or Atsushi getting flustered by your sunny, seemingly carefree and bold demeanour. If anyone decides to observe you for a longer period of time, it becomes clear he's always looking out for you when you are together, ready to hold you back from any shenanigans you might regret the next second...
The first time you touched hands equalled the first time you met. It was your first day at Uzumaki's and even though the kind café owner had assured you you would do just fine, you were as nervous as possible - and your new co-worker Lucy's rather grumpy face wasn't helping to soothe your anxiety at all. You hadn't dared to strike a conversation yet and even though you had been assured by your superior that she was a nice girl that just needs to warm up to people, you didn't want to take the chance to be yelled at at your first day. Which meant that you were currently trying your best not avoid her by any cost while also trying to work as efficiently as possible. This had ultimately been your doom: You had stumbled over your own damn two feet when you came out of the storage room, spilling coffee beans all over the ground just as the doorbell rang.
Deeply embarrassed, you hurried to kneel down and gather them as fast as you could, not wanting to look up to meet possibly taunting faces. Which was the reason you didn't even register how someone knelt down beside you to help you at first, completely overhearing their kind mutter of "I'm so sorry for startling you, please let me help." It was only when you reached to put another hand full of coffee beans into the bag that you suddenly felt something utterly unexpected - not just the smooth surface of the beans, but also a warm hand brushing yours. Your eyes locked as you both looked up at the same time. And oh god, that was a truly beautiful pair of eyes you were looking into.
Later, no one would be able to determine who had lowered their gaze first, but two things were clear: First, it had taken the both of you a few seconds of surprised, enchanted staring to look away. And secondly, you were both furiously blushing by now.
The first time you touched his cheek was a few weeks later. After the initial awkwardness of your first encounter, you slowly started to warm up to each other. The getting-along part wasn't the problem - you got along splendidly - but it was difficult to get to know each other better when none of you dared to get out of their shell to ask questions at first. Slowly, but surely though, you started to have your extroverted moments around him as the agency members were frequent guests at Uzumaki's, which helped Atsushi to relax around you as well something he seemed to have a particular hard time doing around you...
It was one of those evenings that it happened. Atsushi was currently alone at the table as his colleagues had to leave on short notice for a new case, leaving him back to finish his desert. Since the café was rather empty, you decided to take a moment so sit with him and talk, chatting away about whatever came to your mind. Suddenly, your spotted a few crumbs of cake hanging just in the corner of Atsushi's mouth and leaned forward without giving it a second thought. "Oh, wait you've got something right there, hang on", you happily chirped while wiping the corner of his mouth with your thumb.
It was the moment you leaned back that realization struck you like a thunder bolt, leaving you like a deer in headlights. And he wasn't any better, frozen in place after your gesture, looking at you with the most genuinely puzzled and flustered expression.
"OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY!"
Let's just say it took him a while to make you un-bury your face from your hands, trying in vain to hide your blush.
The first time you cuddled was rather unexpected. Four months had passed since your first meeting, and a few days since tiger boy had worked up the courage to officially ask you out. You still felt a smile spread on your lips whenever you remember how he stumbled over his own words, desperately trying to get his point across without putting any pressure on you. It had tempted you terribly to tease him a bit, but you had reconsidered after realizing that you were just as nervous and could barely get your "Yes, I'd like that - going out with you, I mean" out.
Today was the day that was meant to be your first day. It was nothing fancy at all, just sitting at Uzumaki's after closing hours, drinking decaf and play some board games, but considering how busy the agency currently was, you were both more than glad to have that time for yourselves. And event though you were both kind of awkward at the start, you soon managed to break the ice over some heated rounds of card games, which ended in giggles and laughter. You played until late into the night. At some point, you found an excuse to sit down besides him rather than in front of him, a subtle hint for him to take your hand or lay an arm around him. But Atsushi's shyness got the better of him...until your eyes began to close by themselves. Yes, you were having a hard time staying awake, but you didn't want the evening to end...still, you couldn't fight back for long.
The next thing you were aware of was a pair of arms holding you in the most careful and shy way you had ever been held. Your head rested on a warm shoulder, softly padded by Atsushi's hoodie. As you looked up, you realized you must've been asleep for quite some time, as he had fallen asleep as well. Enchanted by the peace his sleeping features showed and hazed by your own tiredness, you gave in to sleep again.
When you were found in the next morning, you were closely snuggled up to each other, sleeping on one of the padded benches.
The first time you kissed was on your third date a few weeks later. Atsushi had finally gotten some time off the agency and when he proposed to go to an amusement park with a bashful smile, you had practically started bouncing up and down due to the excitement. Looking forward to this date had been what kept you full of motivation and happiness the whole week, much to the delight of your customers and co-workers. And you weren't to be dissapointed. Your date was a full success. Atsushi was happy to comply to you dragging him around the park, letting you choose all the activities. He was in awe with everything since it was maybe his third time at such a place and showing him the best attractions became your favourite past-time. You shared cotton candy, screamed at the rollercoasters and spent almost an hour at a haunted-house-labyrinth both of you regretted entering in the first place.
Your last attraction you decided to visit was the ferris wheel, a gigantic construction twinkling against the by now dark night sky. You scooted close to him as your cabin took off. But soon, you almost forgot the height - the view was breath-taking. It showed all of Yokohama's nightly skyline up until it met the sea. You turned around to share your awe with Atsushi - and realized he was actually looking at you. There was the softest expression on his face, his eyes glistening in the low lights of the city behind you. Suddenly, it was just pure intuition guiding you, leaning closer, against his chest, and closing your eyes before you could chicken out. He hesitated for just a second, checking if he had your consent, before lightly pressing his lips against yours. It was a shy and clumsy kiss, but it was warm and loving and you didn't stop until your cabin met the ground again.

The Leash (Part 6)
Tumblr media
Summary: Your rescue was supposed to be as smooth as these missions can be. However very quickly, Tobirama faces off against an enemy that has no form, color or smell - and time is running short, very fast. Unless he figures out what truly holds you hostage, your life will be lost. Warnings (for the finished work): Blood, illness, descriptions of heavy injuries and graphic violence, torture (both depicted and implied), needles, morally grey territory, human experimentation, panic attacks, character death ~6800 words (this chapter, finished work: 80.000) Previous: Part 1; Part 2; Part 3; Part 4; Part 5 Read on AO3!  Disclaimer below the cut!
DISCLAIMER! -i reckon I don’t need the paste it again… but in short: this is a purely self-indulgent work which contains a lot of my own headcanons and whatnot. this chapter especially so! lots of talking and thinking - curious to see what you think!! THANKS FOR READING <3 Ikuro greeted him with a warm smile at the interrogation headquarters. "You produce results fast," he commented after Tobirama explained to him where his research had led him so far. They were sitting in the small office adjourning the holding cell block again. Tobirama could only muster a huff in response. "It is possible I'm being put under pressure by time." His tone was perfectly caustic again.
Ikuro, on the other hand, was entirely unfazed. Tobirama decided he appreciated that about the man; he never had been fond of fainthearted individuals.
"I suggest we start with the least valuable prisoner," Ikuro then turned more serious, placing his broad hand on the table. "There is, after all, a chance this might backfire."
Tobirama nodded. A sensible thought. "That would be Akio." Then, he frowned. "However you noted he's broken already. Our goal is to gain information, too. All we'd confirm would be the drug wasn't lethal. And ascertain the bodily effects of this drug." As he spoke the words, he found the sensible approach - the logical one - didn’t sit too well with him.
Ikuro hummed affirmatively. "What do you suggest, Tobirama?", easily catching the uncertainty.
Tobirama crossed his arms. Frankly he had to ponder the question. There was merit in trying it in those who knew about the leash - but the danger of permanently harming or even killing them was there, too. However did they really know anything about the leash? Would they even relinquish their knowledge?
Had he reason to believe his drug could be considered  that  dangerous to not… take this risk?
He had no time. You had no time. "Let's try the strongest of them."
Ikuro's pale eyes lit up and flashed his teeth in a grin which otherwise might’ve let a shiver run down Tobirama’s spine. "That would be Zenji. The … polite fellow in the middle holding cell. You met him when you first came here."
Tobirama couldn’t have stopped the roll of his eyes even if he wanted to. He gave an exasperated groan. "Great. I’m thrilled to meet him again." That man would test his patience. Tobirama would refuse to guarantee for his safety.
Luckily, he wasn’t made to make any such promises. Ikuro rose to his feet, Tobirama followed suit. Before they set for the cells though, Tobirama explained his plan. Ikuro only nodded in agreement. An eerie kind of calm was settling over him when they finally entered the Stone shinobi’s cell block. It was not an unfamiliar feeling; rather a welcome kind of dissociation that had been well practiced in the warring states era. They all had, at some point, committed atrocious acts. Tobirama never looked back, his logic had been sound.
Just like this time. And what would follow here might be another ugly entry in a list of infamous cruelties - but another necessary one.
As they walked, he could feel the glances of the other prisoners on him as he passed them - and he spared none of them a single glance.
Once they stood in front of the cell, the lanky man’s eyes lit up in way too much delight. "How's the lady?", Zenji gloated immediately.
Tobirama ignored the question. If that was how he’d play it - he was ready. The ire burning under his skin was causing him to tremble almost still. A discussion, the man knew, might easily lead to bloodshed. And being riled up into beating up a chained up man was below Tobirama’s dignity. Although thinking about it provided some needed relief.
"Why are you keeping them like this?", he inquired quietly, hissing through clenched teeth, wondering about the fact all the cells were adjourned - what they did here, the others could hear.
Ikuro considered Tobirama with a thoughtful glance. "Additional pressure. They hear what we're doing to each of them on top of their own, ah, sessions."
Tobirama had guessed that was the reason.
He still felt like bloody murder. Rage like this - born from revenge - was a low motive, and Tobirama frankly despised himself for this. The only thing that mattered was whether one acted on their emotions or not, he knew. Yet he just had to remind himself of the fact that within less than a week, you'd run out of the despised drug  they had tethered you to. And that the man in front of him, Zenji, might know how to save your life.
All things were relative, after all.
Ikuro unlocked Zenji's cell. The man was chained up in the same fashion he had been before - no movement allowed except maybe a wiggle of his toes. The chains were suspended from the walls of the cell and over and over painted with various seals, a few of which Tobirama recognised. Chakra sealing seals mostly, as well as other, sinister uses.
They both stepped inside and Ikuro locked it again.
Zenji gave a haughty laugh. "Not gonna speak to me? Awh, come on. Maybe I'll give you a hint about the leash if you do." He wriggled his eyebrows almost suggestively.
The blood was rushing in Tobirama's ear. His muscles were taut like a bow's string and it took every ounce of his willpower not to at least verbally jump at this man. Don’t, he chanted inwardly, don’t. Briefly, he closed his eyes and shook his head slightly as if to clear the berserk haze that wanted to settle over him.
Surprisingly, it worked somewhat.
Ikuro stepped to Zenji's side. "You're getting a treat, Zenji." A second later, his big hand had grabbed the back of his skull by his hair.
Tobirama stepped closer, procuring the vial from his pocket.
Zenji laughed haughtily. "Ah, ah," his eyes were trained on the vial. "Trying to recreate the leash?"
Tobirama stood right in front of him then, glare icy while the rage inside burned ever hotter. His expression was perfectly neutral, he didn't even bat an eyelash. "I'm going to tether you to the leash, eventually." His voice was nonchalant despite the rage that wanted to eat him up.
Zenji's eyes widened momentarily. Was there a hint of fear in them? But it was gone as soon as Tobirama thought he'd seen it. "You're gonna fail," the Stone shinobi spat, his smugness becoming caustic swiftly. "You can't ever hope to do that."
Tobirama tilted his head to the side, eyebrows rising slowly. "Why is that?", he asked, lazily, disinterested. Perhaps there  was  merit in trying to engage in a conversation with him, after all.
Zenji tried to whip his head from Ikuro's grasp, who just pulled harder at his scalp. "As if you'd be able to recreate it like that. You're fucking running out of leash and Y/n is gonna fucking die." His voice was dripping with hatred and no small amount of pleasure.
For just a second, Tobirama imagined ripping his throat out with his bare hands if just to ease the fury that was burning through every fiber of his body now; the gory picture helping momentarily not to  act  on it. Or at least verbally lash out. Still, he knew he’d despise himself for it - such an act was beneath him. The man was key to finding out how to save you. He had to keep telling himself in order to keep the white-hot rage crawling under his skin only. How he managed to retain his poker face was beyond him. Maybe the gruesome image did help.
He drew his lips into a condescending sneer. "I'm one of Konoha's most distinguished scientists. Don't think for a second I couldn't recreate anything your village came up with." His voice was dripping with arrogance.
Zenji was retorting with a sneer of his own. Ikuro's lips were drawn in a fine smile. "You're fucking desperate is what you are," he snickered, "That drug is impossible to recreate. Too complicated."
Tobirama gave only a lazy sigh and topped it off with an annoyed roll of his eyes. "Yes, I suppose for the likes of you that might be true." He leaned in a little. "I'm not  you  , though. Eventually, I will. And in the meanwhile, I'm going to test every single one of my experiments on you. You know," he mustered the man then a little as if he was nothing more than an object. "I'm wondering if you're actually afraid."
Zenji's eyelid twitched and he threw himself into the restraints binding him. Ikuro's grip was unrelenting, but he frowned slightly. "Afraid? Afraid?!  You can't even risk me!", his voice was shrill and his face became contorted by fury.
Interesting. Ikuro thought so too - his pale eyes had narrowed and stared at Tobirama intently.
Tobirama remained impassive, just swishing the vial back and forth with a leisure movement of his wrist. The truth was he was far from that. He wondered if beating on this man until he spilled the beans really wasn't an option. But he was so close. Zenji had already made a mistake, and Tobirama had caught onto it, of course. Still, he needed confirmation. "I don't see why." He knew better than to keep up with this kind of verbal wrestling. That would only yield power to the prisoner.
Still, the hint had been obvious.
Zenji clenched his jaw tightly now. He, too, seemed to have realised his mistake.
A shrill voice floated over the corridor. The loony witch from the far end, Tobirama figured. "Zenji, you fucking idiot!"
She did sound coherently pissed now.
Unluckily for Zenji, that was the confirmation he needed. Time to take a shot at the obvious target. Tobirama leaned back, genuinely smug now. Both eyebrows arched up, his tone as sweet as sugar. "You're the only one left who knows how to create the leash, hm?"
Zenji apparently decided to break through the figurative front then - his lips drew in a condescending sneer again. "Alright, smart science boy. Assuming you brought all of the remaining leash with you to this godforsaken village," he began in a tone that made Tobirama's neck hair stand up. "Your precious lady has had about seven days to live, give or take, since we got here."
Tobirama already wanted to beat his face into a pulp now - how he spoke of your life in a simple calculation; an unfortunately very correct one - it was maddening. His heartbeat thundered through his skull as his world was incinerated in white-hot ire; he could barely feel the pain in his jaw from how hard he bit down on his teeth.
Zenji continued. "Now I kinda lost feeling for time in this fucking cell, but it couldn't have been more than two. So how about this, Tobirama Senju - all I have to do is last a few more days and then my knowledge will be meaningless because-" he leaned forward, wearing a huge, fat grin, "- Y/n's gonna have left this world, screaming and writhing in agony."
Tobirama's heartbeat was through the roof now. His fists clenched so hard, the vial might break in them but he did not move an inch.
"Unless,... you put her out of her misery beforehand."
For the fraction of a second, eerie silence filled the cell.
Tobirama's fist shot out before Ikuro could even do so much as realise what was about to happen. A sickening crunch echoed through the cell as it made contact with Zenji's lower jaw, who howled in pain in response.
"Tobirama!" Ikuro cautioned, pale eyes ablaze now. The situation was getting out of hand.
Tobirama almost didn't even register the warning. All he heard was the rhythm beating inside him as a fine tremor of fury shook him. His scarlet stare held him pinned, eyes ablaze - if looks could kill, Zenji would be dead now.
This man. How dared he.
How dared he to insinuate- To even think Tobirama would- That he couldn’t-
Zenji spat blood before Tobirama's feet. "I'm gonna fucking relish telling you it all once she's dead," he repeated, blood trickling down his chin, but mien filled with hatred. "You're never gonna crack how the leash is made in five days!" He drew his lips into an ugly grin, marred by the blood blood of his split lip.
Tobirama's fist balled again to deliver another blow to his face, but Ikuro cleared his throat authoritatively. In an instant, Tobirama's free hand had grasped around Zenji's broken mandibular bone and forced it forward with a lot more pressure than necessary. He made sure to put extra force on the side he had punched, just to be safe. If Ikuro had cautioned him not to worsen the prisoner’s injury, Tobirama did not hear it. He didn’t care, either. Zenji should be grateful Tobirama didn’t punch him again.
The prisoner howled in pain as he was barely able to resist his mouth being forced open simply due to the injury, Ikuro supporting by tilting his head back now. "Time for your medicine," Tobirama announced in an ice cold tone as he poured the contents of the vial into Zenji's mouth.
In an attempt to gag or wheeze it right back out he already tried to constrict his pharyngeal muscles, but Tobirama had seized his cricoid and pressed down harshly enough to force him to swallow - or else he'd suffocate.
Which he did, just a moment later.
For good measure, Tobirama kept the pressure up a few seconds longer, however.
When he released him, Zenji wheezed. "Fuck you," he spat, but his pupils began to dilatate already.
"Start," Tobirama commanded Ikuro in a pressed tone, shaking from fury still, who nodded and rested his hand on Zenji's head in order to assault the man's mind.
Tobirama meanwhile went for his throat to monitor his body with his chakra - sadly, he really did need to keep him alive. Which was difficult, as his focus was still clouded by the rage - the maddening fury he’d chastise himself for later.
The effects of his drug were - initially - comparable to the leash. The sensory overload of the brain worked the exact same way he had witnessed in you after indigestion - though now, it mingled with Ikuro's chakra, who was smothering him in what probably was a genjutsu or some other kind of mental assault. Tobirama couldn't help but marvel the expert level with which the man proceeded, comparing it to the brute force he had used on Akio. There was something to be learned here in the ways he didn't just smother him but let his chakra seep through every little crack of Zenji's mind, delivering mental stabs whenever he felt a crack in his mental fortress while coating him in a constant onslaught of pressure; a thick blanket of neverending slices at Zenji’s mind that made Tobirama shudder. It was much like watching a snake kill its prey - winding around the struggling victim tighter and tighter; the hopeless struggle of the despondent creature seemed to still as it starts to realise its demise while the snake viciously enjoys every drip of agony it can milk from it until finally, the unfortunate soul can no longer breathe.
Zenji's chakra on the other hand was sluggish - but not as subdued as Tobirama had hoped. The effect was there and the man definitely should feel his control over his chakra being significantly hampered, but it wasn't the same as Tobirama had seen in you. Stunted, yes, but not as frozen.
He was on the right path, after all.
Still, the screams Ikuro elicited from Zenji were music to Tobirama's ears. Just like the fact that physically, the man was fine. Tobirama flat out refused to heal the broken jaw, however. He didn't know how long the session lasted, but somewhere along the line, Zenji hat stilled. His head had tilted forward, the body limp.
"Enough," Ikuro announced finally, frowning.
Tobirama gave the man another brief once-over to make sure he was fine - besides the abused mind - then he removed his hand from his throat. His head felt dizzy. The ache in his heart was as agonizing as ever now that the rage had subsided. Ikuro clicked his tongue and waved his hand for Tobirama to follow. They headed back to the office. This time, he didn't feel the gazes of the other prisoners on his back.
Interesting.
Once in the office, Ikuro crossed his arms. "I don't think I need to explain-"
Tobirama cut him short with a wave of his hand. He didn't have time for a lecture. "I lost my composure. It won't happen again."
Ikuro stared back for a moment longer, then he walked to the desk. "Should I get the impression you're too emotionally biased to interrogate this man, someone else will have to conduct your experiments here."
"Understood." Like hell Tobirama would allow for that to happen.
Ikuro nodded, then folded his hands in front of him. "This was an interesting session nonetheless."
Tobirama crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Well, I'm glad you perceived it as such." He didn't cut back on the sarcasm.
Ikuro exhaled a sigh. "We have ascertained that Zenji is the only one who knows how to create the leash. And when I tried to pry open his mind, I found your little experiment made him a lot more susceptible to my methods." A fine smile formed on his lips.
Tobirama frowned slightly. The compliment felt sour still - he remembered how this was what you had suffered, and how it hadn't been near what the leash could do. In fact, by the end of the session Zenji's chakra control had been almost normal again.
No withdrawal effect, either.
"I did not break him still," Ikuro continued, "But I could take brief glimpses at the leash's creation, if I upped the pressure a lot."
That comment alone sent a jolt down Tobirama’s spine and he took a quick step forward. "Tell me."
"I'll show you," Ikuro held Tobirama's gaze with unwavering determination, and Tobirama stared back into the pale, turquoise eyes.
Then suddenly, he felt an image being pushed onto him - a genjutsu. Almost instinctively, he wanted to release it simply for the intrusion it caused - then he remembered what this was for. It was quite delicate anyway - fragments, loose images and echoes of sensations. Zenji's, Tobirama realised. He was holding a bottle filled with a clear substance. His chakra did something - a process that Tobirama could only guess at because every time he - Ikuro - tried to look closer, it was as if someone shoved him away. Still, there were some leads. Ways in which his chakra threaded through the liquid. Tiny - but something to go with - pieces of a puzzle. Where he still was missing about most parts of. It hinted at the utmost delicate process that seemed to be the creation of the leash - but it was proof. Proof that it truly was something of a chakra weaving process that created the leash.
"Release." Ikuro announced.
Tobirama's head was swimming again. A hand raked through his hair.
This was a lead. He should feel excited. Hopeful. Eager to work on it. Yet his mind wouldn't push past the crushing sense of dissatisfaction with this experiment, his outburst - and worst of all, Zenji's promise.
I'm gonna fucking relish telling you it all once she's dead.
Five days. He just had five days left and all he had was a vague lead and an experiment with a lukewarm result at least.  Time  - he was running out of  time . His heart was thundering in his chest as his breaths came deeper than usual. He closed his eyes briefly.
If only he had more time.
Giving up was not an option. He'd just work harder. He'd sacrifice who knew what to make this work.
He breathed in deeply to try and alleviate the budding agony and dread inside him. It didn't work well. The pain stabbed at his heart, the sorrow had gripped him again. Tobirama was sure that if he closed his eyes, he'd see your face - in sheer agony.
Unless,... you put her out of her misery beforehand.
He swallowed the lump down his throat. It felt dry. The emotions that were swirling inside him were tiring him out; much like the days before, it was all too much. First the rage, and now the looming sense of doom and this utter despair he felt he couldn’t escape. He didn’t want to feel more, he couldn’t he was spent, but he did nonetheless, like a wound that couldn’t, wouldn’t stop bleeding. He was taking deep breaths against - against all this.
His gaze wandered to the clock.
Damn. You should have been awake for quite some time now.
"I will be back as soon as I have synthesised my next experiment. This is a start." He bowed curtly to thank Ikuro, who nodded in reply. "I need to go. See you soon."
Then, the world around him lurched as he teleported straight to your room.
________
Your nightmare had been exceptionally vivid this time.
Not just a horrible patchwork of memories from the past few weeks but a concise, terribly real scenario. Every single bit of the memory had felt like as though you were back in the dreadful hideout for sure. The screams echoed off the wall as they carved your flesh like a sculpture, the pain a thousand times worse due to this damn drug. By the time it had ended, your tormentor had cut you apart.
But you wouldn't die.
You never died.
The agony just never ended.
It all faded into a memory of pain supplied by your abused body. Eventually, the world was black. Then you slept.  And when you woke, it still was dark.
With a sigh, you removed the blindfold from your eyes. Everything stayed dark. You forced yourself to take even breaths.
This had been the third time you had taken the leash since you had been rescued.
How many more would follow?
Your breathing picked up.
Dark. It was all too dark.
Your eyes wandered to where you knew the window was, curtain drawn closed. You really had to tell Tobirama to keep that open if you now started to become afraid of darkness so much. Then again, that might lead to more questions. Questions you didn’t want to answer. For now, the pain in your whole body was a dull echo, but you knew that’d change drastically again when you moved. No matter. You had to. The world was closing in around you and and your heart was hammering against your ribs so harshly you thought it might jump out.
Yelping past clenched teeth you dragged your haggard form to the window again, staggering through the darkness, not even bothering with the nightstand lamp this time. You didn’t need to. You whimpered deplorably from the aches that now flared through all of you, echoes of the torment that stabbed and burned.
You still felt so weak. It was dumb to think you had recovered much already - and without your own chakra, no less - but still. You absolutely detested this  weakness.
This helplessness.
You grasped the curtain for support as much as you had to to pull it open. You had to fumble for it with a shaking hand, the other grasped the window sill below.
“J-j-just o-open…”, you stuttered as you ripped aimlessly at it.
Your breaths were coming so fast now your sight was blackening, your limbs feeling fuzzy. The panic was driving tears into your eyes and wrenching sobs from you.
Was this how you’d start every day, now?
Bright sunlight flooded the room finally. Instantly, both your hands clung to the sill then for support while you doused in the sight of the village. The very obvious signals your body was giving you to rest again were ignored in favour of relishing in this moment.
Safe. You were safe.
You sniffled as the tears dried down and the fright ebbed down. Somewhat. You wanted to stay like this longer, but you knew you really shouldn’t. Besides, the more you calmed, the more unbearable the pain became in all of you. Plus, if Tobirama caught you now, he’d be livid. He hated repeating himself. It wasn’t as though he was wrong, anyway.
You opted for sitting on the bed again and looking out of the window from there. A small comfort.
“Okay,” you murmured to yourself in preparation of the way back. With a deep breath you let go of the window sill and turned around.
A moment later your shaky foothold tipped, the ankle twisted - and with an agonised yelp that nearly had been a loud scream, you fell to the floor. Instinctively you broke the fall correctly, your training ensured that. Even in this deplorable state.
But the pain was searing. It damn near was equal to the torment - or at least it felt like that. You curled into a fetal position on yourself as your mouth was open in a silent scream.
You didn’t want anyone to get in now.
Tears were flowing freely over your cheeks. You kept silent. Silence had been a lesson well-practiced - though of course the Stone shinobi had made you scream so much your voice still was hoarse, that had been after a lot of silence.
You’d endure this, too.
Even so, lying on the cold floor - it felt just like after all the times they’d tortured you and then shoved you back into that dark pit. Helplessly on the ground with the agony fresh on your mind and weakened by the leash, by all the misery you were in. Unable to move from sheer pain alone, really-
Your chest was closing in again.
The room was becoming darker.
No, no, no. Not now. It’d be fine eventually - right? Wait, what if it wasn’t? Shit, where did that come from now? You mustn’t think like that. But here you were. Alone. On a cold floor. In pain- Bleeding?
No- You were sure if you opened your eyes now, they’d open to nothing but darkness. “N-no…”, you whimpered miserably, your arms covering your face as you curled up even tighter.
Cold.
Everything was cold, you are alone - There is nobody here, they’ll come again, and again for you.
“What the hell?! ”
You had no idea how long you had been laying there when the familiar, furious voice ripped through your consciousness like a horn’s blow. The world was slowing down again. You suddenly became aware of the fact you had been wheezing erratically. Trembling. The tears - an odd tear would run over your cheek. But you had stilled perfectly. You heard fast steps approaching. You tensed.
They stopped in front of you. Clothes rustled.
“Y/n?” - the voice was different now - panicked. Softer.
Slowly, you opened your eyes to see Tobirama’s black clothes in front of you. He was crouching. His hand was on your shoulder, you realised. A warm touch.
Your breathing levelled out.
You were safe.
You had just fallen down. Silly.
“I fell,” you admitted defeatedly, your gaze seeking his face hesitantly. This was embarrassing enough as it was, but Tobirama - he looked perfectly anguished himself. His scarlet eyes mustered you up and down, there was urgency in his expression. You sighed and began to heave your chest off the ground with your arms, ignoring the pain again.
“You shouldn’t have-,” he began in a scolding tone, but the moment you moved, it became stern. ”No, don’t do that.” The worry was mellowing it down still.
His arm snuck around your shoulder to heft you up from the floor. You became utterly stiff from the pain that shot through you as you were moved, but you uttered no more than a hiss past your clenched teeth. Your arm moved to rest around his waist for support, but the way you fisted the fabric of his black shirt was telltale, nonetheless.
Which Tobirama picked up on easily. “Just one step,” he muttered tersely. Frankly with the force he put in his grip he might as well carry you, but you appreciated the fact he granted you this shred of dignity. You took the step as gracefully as possible, which was simple given how Tobirama shouldered near all of your weight. You whimpered as you sat down the ankle you had fallen over on the floor.
“Easy,” Tobirama supplied immediately, holding you closer, his free hand securing your waist tightly.
His arm released you only momentarily as you leaned forward to spin and sit on the bed, but his palm lingered on your shoulder the whole time. He grasped your legs gingerly to help swing them into bed again when you turned to lie down.
You stared up at the ceiling once you had pulled the blanket over you. The trembles had ceased; your breathing was normal again.
You were safe.
Tobirama didn’t waste time, either. “What have you been doing?”, his tone was as strict as it was accusing. The mellowing worry had turned down a notch now that you were in bed again it seems.
You felt bold when you turned your gaze to meet his again. He was frowning, the scarlet eyes were ablaze. “I did say you could knock next time,” you answered in a small voice.
The answer was prompt. “So you’d have time to get back into bed, you mean?”, strict was becoming angered rapidly.
“Yeah, I don’t think I’d have made that in time.” He crossed his arms in front of his chest, the face scrunched in a frown and the eyelids narrowed to slits. No, he was pissed off. You sighed.
Your scathing comment didn’t even make him bat an eyelash. “Yn/!” If anything, the quip had angered him more, if that outburst was anything to go by. “You must rest,” he began sternly. “Most likely that stunt has ripped at your healing wounds and inflicted damage - setting you back. Not to mention you need to recover more strength first.” He extended a hand as he argued, frustration leaking into his voice.
“I know, Tobirama,” you snapped back. Both of your aching arms rose to your face to cover it. “I am painfully aware.”
He fell silent for a moment, the comment earned you a low huff from him. “So then why do I see you anywhere but your bed whenever I come around?”, again, his tone was unfazed. More stern, in fact. You knew your comments were riling him up.
Because I feel like I’m suffocating when I’m alone in the dark and that fucking window is the only thing that convinces me I’m free.
“I’m going a little crazy here,” you supplied, figuring that wasn’t even a lie. “I’m either drugged, becoming delirious or flat out in pain, as you know.” That much definitely wasn’t a lie.
It made Tobirama balk a little. Peeking past your hands you saw his shoulders droop, his arms at his side now. Weird. You had expected something along the lines of ‘it’ll be over soon’ or ‘pull yourself together’ - not in an ignorant or diminutive way, but rather something to remind you this was temporary. That all you had to do was be stronger for a little while. Tobirama wasn’t great at comfort to begin with, so he’d stick with the logical aspects of the situation, naturally.
“Tobirama?”, you inquired then, when he didn’t speak up again.
“I know,” he then answered, the anger fading somewhat. His mien remained firm, but he took a seat on the edge of your bed now to level out the height difference somewhat. Because that hadn’t escaped your notice either. “It is a difficult situation, but you  must  rest. I don’t want you going on walks now. At all.” His gaze lifted up to your eyes again - the frown still present.
Your hands dropped to your side again. Now was your turn to avoid his gaze. “I just wanted to pull the curtains back, Tobirama,” you explained in a quiet voice, your ironic undertone vanished. “I had to look outside.”
You heard him take a sharp breath and then - “Y/n, you mustn’t-”, then he abruptly paused. For a few moments, the room was completely silent. "Is… that why you were crying?", he asked suddenly, his voice dropping the strictness, completely soft again.
You didn’t answer him, but you closed your eyes. You had to, they were becoming wet again.
“Y/n…”, Tobirama whispered brokenly, his hand reaching for yours at his side. His grip was tight, his thumb ran smoothing circles over your skin. You exhaled a little gasp when you felt his chakra graze over your network in the way you were so familiar with, so warm and welcome.
“I’ll try not to get up again,” you murmured after a moment of quiet comfort. “Maybe just leave the curtain open.” You sighed. It wasn’t as though you didn’t understand his objections to you moving around - your ankle was testament to that - but the panic was just so much worse.
Tobirama didn’t reply to that directly but simply kept caressing you both outwardly and inwardly. “Alright.” He finally spoke. “Perhaps… I can try to be here earlier, too.”
You opened your eyes again to find his gaze was cast down at your body again, his eyebrows furrowed in worry again. You never had seen Tobirama in this much distress since these last few days. “You don’t have to. You’re busy,” your voice was becoming more somber again.
“We talked about that already.” Back to the firm tone, shutting the discussion down, it seems. Tobirama hated discussing in the first place, and with your time basically dictated by a vile drug that he had to administer regularly there wasn’t even much arguing ground on your behalf. You rolled your eyes.
His hand released yours and was pushing the blanket aside then, “I’ll see what I can do for you now,” he mumbled, then, already focused as he turned himself to face your side more.
You gave a low sigh. “I’d say save your concentration and chakra, but-”
Tobirama’s voice instantly was terse again. “Y/n.”
You rolled your eyes. “Exactly.” You resigned and helped by pulling up the gown somewhat as he placed both palms on your abdomen again. You felt his chakra’s presence intensify as he began and couldn’t help but gaze at his face while he first examined you and then went to heal - his eyes closed, eyebrows furrowed in deep concentration. Over time, that became more dismayed. Of course.
Much like the last time, the procedure took its pretty time simply for how intricate the work was - how little chakra he could actually use in terms of overloading you still, and when he did, he’d have to put it to its best use. The thoroughly comfortable feeling was settling in soon however as the aches dulled and you began to relax under his treatment. You’d never deny this wasn’t good, no. Especially when he directed his attention to your ankle, the sensation was warming, itchy almost in how the joint began to ache less in tune with the healing warmth swirling inside of it.
After quite a while he retreated with a finishing brush over your network, which you let warmly hum in response. As much as you could, anyway. It’d never not feel alien to you how your chakra was there - inside you - and yet not ready at your disposal. When Tobirama drew his hands back, his face remained scrunched up.
“As I said,” and here he was again, scolding, naturally. “There was quite some damage to your wounds. And you sprained your ankle.” He crossed his legs and rested both arms on the edge of the bed. “I’ve repaired quite a lot of it. Y/n, you’re barely-”
You wanted to prop your head up your palm and rest on your side, but you were positive he’d yell at you. You opted for quipping again. “-healed and need to rest.”
His frown deepened. “I can also just physically stitch you up if the sight of those ripping serves as a better reminder for you. Because that’s what you’re doing, internally.”
Ouch. He fought back. “No, thank you.” You deflated and sighed. “I’m trying.”
That served to mellow him down significantly again and his shoulders slumped somewhat. He didn’t speak up again though, but his gaze had fallen to the floor, seemingly lost in ponder.
You simply eyed him for a moment before you tilted your head slightly. “Well, I ruined the mood, didn’t I?”, you attempted a little laugh, but Tobirama could only shrug his shoulders in what you think might’ve been an ironic motion. You frowned. “What’s wrong, Tobirama?”
His gaze lifted to gaze at you from the side, cautiously now. It didn’t sit well with you. “Just stay in bed, Y/n.”
You arched up an eyebrow. That was not what truly had been on his mind now. The lack of sternness in his voice proved that. “I know I should,” you began, “but that is not what is on your mind.” His nostrils flared slightly. “Tell me, Tobirama. Is everything getting too much for you? You don’t need to take care of me, too. That’s why I am here.” It still baffled you how much he did in the first place, yet-
“No,” he firmly cut you short. His arms crossed in front of his chest as he slightly leaned back. “I’m fine taking care of you and researching this leash.” You believed that much with how much conviction he spoke it.
“Then what is it, Tobirama?”, you demanded now. “Because I have the fleeting notion it’s to do with me.” And you didn’t like that at all.
He closed his eyes and sighed. “It’ll be fine, Y/n. Don’t worry about that. Just rest and get better.”
Anger started to flare in you. To be bedridden and get basically yelled at for drawing curtains back was one thing. But to actively be kept in the dark was another one. However you’d still try reason first before you went to demanding things because open confrontation only got you so far. “I’m injured, Tobirama. Not mentally capacitated. You might as well tell me, because I caught on the fact something  is  weighing on you and at the very least I’ll now worry as to why that is. Even if you tell me not to. So, please.”
Tobirama straightened and squared his shoulders a little. "Honestly, the only thing you have to worry about is your own recovery." He was getting more terse again.
You were onto something. You narrowed your eyes. "Fine. Don't tell me. I'll just get up after, scream until someone gets around and demand to speak to Hashirama." You had every intention of going through with that. You'd have to be fast though - weakness would settle in soon.
Tobirama clenched his teeth, his head whipped around to you to stare at you downright menacingly. "You will do no such thing."
"I absolutely will, unless you tell me."
Tobirama’s eyes closed slowly. He shifted back to his original position. When he opened them again, his scarlet pupils darted to the side to pin you with an intense stare, his mien was grave now. Your pulse picked up. Instinctively you braced yourself by heaving your chest up with both your elbows. Thanks to his recent treatment, the pain was dull, for now. Tobirama didn’t even protest when you moved. It just served to make you more tense.
“Creating more of the leash is proving to be a difficult task I’ve not yet accomplished,” he finally churned out, slowly, against his will, almost.
You gulped.  Wait. That meant- “How much is left?”, you asked before you could even comprehend what you just said.
Tobirama closed his eyes, inhaling deeply. He didn’t want to tell you. You weren’t sure if you wanted to know anymore. “Five and a half days at our current rate.”
Around you, the world seemed to lurch like when he teleported you with the hiraishin seal. Your ears felt stuffy, your vision became a tunnel focusing on the face of your beloved and yet gazing right through him as darkness threatened. You felt numb.
Five and a half days.
Right now, you had five and a half days left to live.
And you wouldn’t pass peacefully, that much you had experienced before.
Your elbows gave out as you limply crashed back into the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Breathing was becoming harder as the figurative weight of the news was bearing down on your chest. Before you knew it, you were wheezing again. Ugly sobs were breaking past your lips and a wet sensation rolled down the sides of your face. Tears, you realised.
Faintly you realised Tobirama shifted. A hand took yours in it firmly, another on your shoulder. He was talking, but you didn’t hear anything. Not right away, anyhow. It was only when you felt his chakra again that you became more grounded again, but even then, it still was hard not to burst all over again.
“Y/n,” he pleaded, over and over again. Your blurry vision shifted to focus on his face, closer to yours now. It looked as agonized as you felt. There was a tremble in his deep voice. Your breathing levelled out slowly. Your free hand slowly reached for the one he had put on your shoulder as you sought his gaze again.
“Tell me more,” you urged, gulping.
“I’m not sure if-”, he hesitated.
“I want to know everything, dammit!”, you almost shouted.
Tobirama’s eyes closed, he winced as though you had physically slapped him.
And then proceeded to tell you - everything. What this leash was - besides what you knew it did to you - what he knew so far. The problem he faced. Instantly, you realised the task he faced was not just ‘difficult’. It was near impossible to achieve in such a short timespan.
“I’m doing all I can, I swear,” he finished, and the sincerity of the statement had the timbre of his voice shaking. His scarlet eyes were glistening - the hand you put on his on your shoulder reached for his face. No, you’d never question his resolve to save you. Neither his determination to keep you from any harm - his secrecy had just been another facet of that.
An eerie calm gripped you.
“I know,” you whispered, stoic. A sad smile stretched your lips. “If there’s anyone in Konoha who can figure it out, it’s you.” You believed that with every fiber of your being.
Tobirama frowned, tilting his head slightly. His breath shook.
“You need more time,” you added, your thumb caressing his cheekbone.
“There isn’t any, Y/n,” he answered, broken.
“Not if we proceed like this,” you agreed, somber. You couldn’t believe your next words, but here you were. You knew exactly what you needed to do - duty, if you will, albeit calling it that was odd considering it was your own survival that was on the line. Still. You were the one making the sacrifice.
“You start giving me what you have of the leash at the greatest possible interval.”
Tobirama’s face fell completely, the words hitting him almost like you had slapped his cheek.
“What?!”

“No.”
“C’mon. Just be my partner, it’ll be totally wicked. We’re the best dancers on the team. We can even break heteronormativity if you wanna put it that way.”
“That’s not the point.” Minghao grumbled, throwing his dirty practice gear over his shoulder. “We told you to find a partner before the next practice. All you’ve done is complain to me about how awful everyone else is. Is there really not one girl or boy in Slytherin that you can partner up with?”
Junhui’s bark eyes glazed lazily over the pitch, as if there would be random students just lying around during early morning practice. The weather was definitively awful today, with depressingly muted grey clouds and no trace of the sun ever grazing its presence on campus. He rocked his bat back and forth, letting it bounce on his thigh as they exited the field and neared the viaduct. “There really isn’t,” he drolled, looking disinterested, “I hate all of them.”
“Awh c’mon, you really don’t mean that.”
“Oh, I do. They’re awful.”
“But—”
“No. Please stop trying.”
Minghao took an abrupt turn at the end of the cobblestoned viaduct, in the team room where most of the members were off to their own devices. Team Hogwarts was doing relatively well in terms of team relationships, so far there were no petty fights over house competition because their school pride against other schools was currently taking precedence. Junhui was being petty, he knew it. But his pride was his mantle, and if that couldn’t hold him together, he might as well crash and burn down the pitch.
Minghao started to grumble unintelligibly under his breath, ripping off his blazer and shoving it to one side of his training bag. He looked visibly angry, and Junhui could understand that. Being on Team Hogwarts was stressful enough, and having a friend like him who was heatedly intolerable was just icing on the cake.
“I know someone who can be your partner,” Minghao finally said, looking away, “She can pick up dances quickly. But you gotta promise me you’ll be nice to her.”
“Me? Nice? I’m the nicest person you could possibly meet.” Junhui replied loftily, giving a lazy smirk as he relaxed against the bench. “I’ll treat her like a princess if she’s as good as a dancer as you claim she is.”
“Even if she’s a Gryffindor?”
“Even if she’s a—” his jaw dropped, and he sat straight, his aloof facade shattered just enough for him to sputter out of control. His beater’s bat slipped like butter from his grasp, causing it to echo throughout the room and multiple members to look at the pair strangely. He ignored all of them like a grain of sand. “Seriously? A Gryffindor?”
“I’m a Gryffindor. What are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying. It’s fine if pretty boy Chwe wants to go prance around with his stuffy bookworm, that’s expected. But when was the last time you saw a Gryffindor and Slytherin kill it on the dancefloor?”
“I’m taking a Gryffindor,” Jihoon said levelly, looking over them from the side of the bench. His posture was slumped, his hair windswept and his cheeks kissed with a strawberry red from the nippy weather. He was already in his school robes, tucking in the collar of his emerald knit so it would settle nicely. Running a hand through his sandy locks, he brushed up to them, taking no shame into walking into their conversation.
Jihoon had a tendency to flit in and out whenever he pleased, and for whatever reason people still liked Jihoon, something that irked Junhui incessantly. But he never dared to ask, considering Jihoon’s own brand of confidence was something to be desired. “But I also like this person a lot, I don’t care that she’s a Gryffindor. So just swallow your pride and be lucky that someone is willing to help you out, especially last minute.”
“Well,” Minghao looked away sheepishly, trying to save face, “she hasn’t exactly said yes yet. I haven’t even asked her, but there’s no reason why she wouldn’t say no.”
“Alright. Hopefully she says yes then.” Junhui finally said, giving Minghao a small smile. He wrapped an arm around his shoulders, giving a firm squeeze. “Thank you.”
From the corner of his eye, he saw Jihoon give an inkling of a grin, before turning around and walking back.
“Thank you for giving people a chance.” Minghao replied genuinely, squeezing Junhui’s shoulders once before changing into his own robes.
Junhui was nervous. He was nervous and shy and worried that this was going to all be messed up and risk getting kicked off the team. Minghao told him once they entered the practice room, the Great Hall, that his partner would be a little late. It was understandable, it was a last minute thing and he could totally fault himself for that.
He had to play it cool, he had to. He already brought himself thus far, making it onto the team, and playing it off like it was no big deal. But it was work, all of it. Even the little things like this, dancing some five minute routine for the entire campus to see. There was nothing else he could hold onto at this point, everyone else was partnered up in the room (except Mingyu Kim, but no one else seemed to notice since he was never around) and now he was just left to fidget until you showed up.
“Where’s your partner, Junhui?” Soonyoung walked up to him, all up in his face, and Junhui fought the urge to push the co-captain back. Soonyoung was wearing Muggle athletic wear, the one with the strangely thin fabric and pants that were too loose at the top and fitted at the bottom. What did Soonyoung think they were, a Muggle boy band? “We’re about to start.”
“Oh well, she's—”
“Here! Sorry I'm late!” your voice echoed throughout the Great Hall, padding down the linoleum like wildfire. You, a young lady in gold and red dropped her things on one of the dining tables, and surprise surprise, you were dressed exactly like Soonyoung. Your body was a blur as you ripped off your robes, revealing a complete and utter lack of clothing that had Junhui’s gaze burn scarlet. Tight black shorts that ribboned across your thighs, and a white athletic t-shirt that had the same silky material as the Gryffindor captain.
Soonyoung’s face lit up like the morning sun, his face comparable to diamonds as you bounded  up next to him. He made a show of it, putting his thumb and forefinger together as if he were taking a photograph of the pair. “Wait, seriously?” he balked, and Junhui grew annoyed at how delighted the hyper kid was being. “Oh Junhui you have the best partner.”
Junhui scrunched his nose, uncomfortable that Soonyoung wanted to be all chummy now that he was doing the right thing. Biting the inside of his lip, he turned to you, who offered him a small smile and an outstretch of a hand.
He blinked. Oh, you’re gorgeous.
And when he took her hand and gave a firm squeeze in reply, he could’ve sworn he felt you. That strange, red crackling fire that so many of them seemed to emanate like it was the newest trend, but it was all-encompassing and so definitively you, that he hated to admit he was aching for more. “I’m Junhui Wen.” he drawled, tilting his head to meet his cocoa eyes to yours.
“I know who you are,” you replied immediately, the subtle jab in your tone pinning him to the floor like it was a glass stake. There was an energy in your gaze, the curious light that was making Junhui spellbound. “We have a bunch of classes together. Divination? Alchemy? Muggle Studies?”
He could only stare at you, struck. His smirk from ten seconds ago descended in a downward spiral, realizing that wow, he had no comeback for that. It was downright a sin not to notice you all this time, and you were rightfully calling him out on it. Points to the Gryffindor, indeed.
Gryffindor’s always intimidated him, a secret only a select few has picked up on. His parents were good people, always telling him that confidence is key and he should strive to be more like them. So, he tried. He’s cocky, for sure. A little shit? Definitely. But it’s different when righteousness slaps in the face, a reminder that there’s goodness in his heart and a strive to do better.
Thankfully (the first and last time Junhui would ever be thankful to Soonyoung) practice had already started and you were late. He felt the grip of your small palm, and you smack his hand to your waist. Is it bad how much he thought how perfect it felt? How he wanted to hold you in his arms forever—
“At this rate,” you cut dryly, voice loud enough for only you two to hear, “we’ll be a centerpiece because you’re not moving a damn inch. Merlin, do you need me to lead?”
“Oh,” it’s only then Junhui realized that his friends were dancing circles around them, and he’s messed up the formation, “sorry.”
You two finally step into the piece, thankful that Junhui had quick reflexes. To his chagrin, you’re not too bad yourself. Despite the lightning on your tongue, you held yourself with grace, following him across the floor as if you were floating. Soonyoung was right, he did snatch up the best partner. He owes Minghao a barrel of butterbeer.
“Hey,” you hummed, voice blending wonderfully between the enchanted piano. “Minghao told me a little about you.”
“All good things, I’m hoping.”
You snorted, tilting your head so it brushed against his robes. “Maybe. Said that Gryffindors make you nervous.”
He scoffed, “No, that’s not true.”
“So, I don’t make you nervous?”
Whether Junhui said yes or no, he knew that both answers would be wrong. He could tell how much you knew, how easy it was to rile him up. Sweat was clinging to his palms, probably hot and sticky against your thin muggle t-shirt that clings deliciously to your waist (he takes it back, he takes it back! Muggle clothing is wonderful.)
“Whatever you’re trying to do,” he murmured, leaning over your form as he lets your body relax in a dip, “it’s not gonna work.”
Instead of entertaining his sudden accusation, you grabbed his robes, pulling him even closer even though the music stopped and people are listening to Soonyoung’s instructions for next class. “Where will you be picking me up?”
“What?”
“For the Yule ball. Jihoon is picking his date in front of our common room. You should come too.”
“Uh,” he completely forgot that having you as a dance partner coincided with the possibility of you being his date for the ball. He had the opportunity to be in your company for one whole night. Terror spiked in his form, because he realized that he couldn’t mess up this chance. “Yeah, I’ll be there.” he says, and you seem satisfied by his definitive answer.
You’re still playing with the hem of his robes, tracing your fingers along the Slytherin emblem. There’s no snark, no playful banter like you were expecting when Minghao prepared you for this. You’ll have fun with him.
“I’ll be wearing emerald, so you should think of matching my robes with yours,” and you smirk at him, tilting your head, “good thing I already know how handsome you look in green, Junnie.”
The last of his resolve crumbled like a piss-poor treacle tart.
Junhui’s besotted, attracted by your boldness and craving for more of your attention. The rest of your words were hazy, like he was swimming in the Gillyweed lagoon. Something about how he better not freeze up like he did before, otherwise he’d be hexed like the girl in The Red Shoes. Something about how you’re looking forward to seeing him. He’s drowned, unable to form a coherent reply when a friend comes from behind to snatch you up. They forced you to pack up so you’d get first dibs on tonight’s dinner.
You send him a wink before you’re forced out the door, and all he could do was wave dumbly.
“Knew you’d like her,” Minghao slid up to Junhui, punching him in the shoulder. The pain didn’t even register as Minghao continues to tease him, going so far as to pinch his golden skin. “Merlin, do you have a crush already?” he giggled, trying to shake the taller one back to reality.
No, Junhui was bewitched.

BETWEEN YOU AND ME
(requested by anon)
Kai Parker x Reader word count: 4 771 / reading time: 17 minutes warnings: mentions of smut (?!) is that even a warning? idk but just to be safe. summary: Mystic Falls is under attack; Kai and Reader are keeping a secret from her friends, though secrets have a way of coming out. *gif by me ________________________________________
Y/N dragged her feet across the floor, left her coffee mug on the desk next to her laptop and glanced at her boyfriend who was currently asleep in their bed. It was barely 6am, the first sunrays were seeping through the semi-closed curtains but none of it seemed to catch her attention. No. That was all Kai, who barely had a sheet covering his bare naked body. There were spots of blood on the pillow and a couple of other places as they had ‘wrestled’ the night before which would be nightmare to clean but none of it bothered her. Instead, just before she pulled her chair to sit down and give her history assignment one last look before sending it in, she tiptoed as quietly as she could and bent over him. Her fingers ran though his messy hair for a moment, her lips touched his briefly and almost instantly he returned the kiss. Before she knew what was happening, Kai had grabbed her and tossed her under him on the bed. His body pressed against hers firmly while their fingers intertwined on either side of her head and he continued to kiss her as if he was starving. For all she knew, he was. It was just how her life with him was. They had gone for not being able to stand each other to not being able to stand being away from each other in a couple of months. Though their romance was still a forbidden love because if her friends caught up on what she had been up to, or the real reason why Kai had softened up the past few months… things would not end well for any of them.
“Kai—“ she barely managed to whisper, instantly getting lost in his eyes. His lips curled up into a wide smile and he brushed his nose against hers for a second before kissing her briefly again. Y/N used his momentary distraction and rolled on top of him. “Slow down –“
“Not possible.” he grinned, intertwining his fingers with hers while she held his hands against the soft pillows. “You know, you look so fucking hot in my t-shirt. I’ll never get over it –“
Y/N shook her head smiling. “Yeah, well. You have the best t-shirts. So soft and they smell so nice. Mine are awful. Awful…”
Kai laughed under his breath, sitting up in the bed while her hands hooked around his neck and his slid down her waist. “Why are you up so early?”
“Cuz –“ she tried to pull away from him but he wouldn’t let her. “—I got school work to finish. You know, some of us are still in high school.” she pushed his hands off her and got to the desk, taking a sip from her coffee as she leaned in against it. Kai braced himself on his elbows, his eyes remained focused on her the entire time, following every curve of her body and something told her he knew she was not wearing underwear… “And because there is a crisis. Remember? Cade? Katherine? Sirens –“
“And you know I want you as far away from this as possible. It’s not safe –”
Y/N ran her fingers through her hair, folding her hands on her chest right after. A long moment passed in silence and Kai’s eyes pierced into hers. Keeping things from him was her least favorite thing to do, mostly because her boyfriend caught up with her lies and secrets pretty quick. And whenever she didn’t spill the beans on her own, he had his own way of torturing the truth out of her. “That’s kind of hard to do when Sybil is my new history teacher –“
“What?!” Kai jumped up from the bed. Her gaze instantly drifted down south towards his semi hard lenght. Damn, what wouldn’t she do to freeze time and spend a few decades all alone with Kai. Just the two of them, skin to skin; travelling across the world and just being happy without worrying about any of this. “Why haven’t you told me this before? No, you are not going anywhere today.”
Y/N bit her lip, placing her hand on Kai’s chest while trying not to think what would happen if she were to stay there with him all day long. “I can’t hide. That’s not me and you know it.”
   “It’s too dangerous –”
“You are out there.” she placed her hands on his shoulders, unconsciously feeling his biceps. Damn, she bit her lip. “You think I don’t worry 24/7 about you? My own friends want you dead –”
“I can take care of myself and that’s different. You are a human, I’m a heretic.” he argued. “I can easily take all your friends down with a flick of my wrist. Sybil and her weirdo babysitter sis too.”
“Or she can siren you to –”
“To what?” he tried to meet her eyes but she kept avoiding his gaze up until the point she tried to push him away. “Y/N?”
Her gaze met with his. “You know what she did to Damon. I don’t – I don’t know what I’d do if she messes with your head and –” her eyes watered a bit and she wiped her nose with the back of her wrist. “Kai, it’s too dangerous not only for me to go out there –”
Kai gripped her wrists and pinned them behind her back, leaning towards her. “You are the most important person in my life, Y/N. Sybil cannot erase you from my head, or my heart or my soul. You are seared on them for good and nothing’s going to change that. Ever.” he gazed longingly into her eyes. “You are my everything… I love you more than you could possibly imagine but you should’ve told me about Sybil. I am your boyfriend –“
 “No.”
 “Excuse me?”
“You are not my boyfriend.” Her eyes remained focused on his, watching the nervousness grow in them. “You are my soulmate, the love of my life –“ his lips crashed against hers in an instant and she could feel his length rub against her inner thigh. So close, but so far away. “—Kai –“ she took a shallow breath, keeping her eyes closed for a moment longer remembering the feeling of his lips on hers. “I’m gonna be late –“
“For where?” he nibbled on her earlobe. “The bed is in no hurry, neither is the desk, nor is the wall. I’m going to be your private tutor for the day because there is no way I am letting you out of my sight until this is all over. That’s an order. You do what I say when I say it –”
Y/N’s lips curled up into a smile. “So over protective, and so so fucking hot when you get so bossy. Makes me think all those naughty things –”
Kai’s expression changed between grin and a serious look within seconds. “Oh? No, no. S-stop it with the googly eyes and the lip biting or the first lesson today will be a disciplinary one.”
Y/N raised her eyebrows. “Awh but daddy, if we stay home I will have to be tied up. Otherwise I’d crawl over the desk to my smocking hot teacher and spend the rest of the day learning new high notes in which I can moan his name –”
Kai shook his head interrupted her with a kiss. His mind had been drifting away since the second he had woken up shortly before she had ‘woken’ him up, and a part of him really wanted them to stay at her place and spend the day ‘studying’. The other knew he cannot miss the strategy session at the boarding house –
“Alright, alright, I am not going to school today.” she muttered, feeling a little out of breath. Kai almost sighed in relief when he noticed her expression flash with something he couldn’t pick up on. There was something else he didn’t know, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “I am crashing the strategy session at the Salvatore house.”
“You are?” he grinned. “So, you mean to tell me I get to spend the entire day with you?”
“Yes –“ she pushed him off her and headed towards the walk in closet. “—and no. You can’t make those eyes at me. You can’t look at me like that and get my heart racing as if I’ve been running a marathon –“
“Can’t I?” he braced himself against the door, taking in every inch of her body as she got dressed. Y/N grabbed her black ripped in the knees skinny jeans but he shook his head. “Short black skirt? P-please? No underwear… F-for me?” She shook her head smiling and grabbed the skirt instead along with a slightly puffy white buttoned up shirt, getting dressed as quickly as she could. “Perfect.”
Y/N bent over to put on her ankle high Converses. “Kai, I am serious. You can’t let your wondering hands go places. You can’t make comments and you definitely can’t –” she looked up at him, but he had a spaced out look in his eyes. “Malachai!”
“What?” he said innocently. “Just enjoying the view –“ he caught his t-shirt just as she threw it at him. “I know, I know. A house full of vampires. Gotcha. I’ll behave, promise.” he put the t-shirt on and whooshed himself around the room to get dressed. “I’ll go pack your lunch. Be back in a jiffy –“
Y/N shook her head smiling, fixed her hair and grabbed her laptop before putting it in her back and taking Kai’s phone and hers from the night stand. Her mind spun around at the thought how Kai would be right there by her side all day, struggling to control himself while she would be fighting herself not to steal a heart-eyes glance or get a little taste of his lips, however brief it might be.  Something told her if someone was gonna crack it would be her, though who could blame her.
“Focus Y/N –“ she muttered to herself, walking in the small kitchen/living room where Kai was already done packing her lunch and two to-go coffee cups. “What are you going to eat?”
Kai spun around and in a flash had her pinned against the doorframe. “You –“ he brushed his fingertips against her cheek, tilting her chin up before his lips collided with hers. His body pressed against hers and for a moment she forgot how to breathe… and whose air she was breathing in the brief seconds she managed to get some air. “Just one –“ he whispered before kissing her again. “—one more kiss.”
“S-stop –“ she tried to push him off but her heart just wasn’t in it. “Kai, you want to leave me breathless before we leave so you have to give me mouth to mouth every spare second we get alone at the boarding house, don’t you?”
“No.” he shook his head, his lips curling into a wide smile. “Yes, yes. Okay. You got me addicted to your lips and everything about you. I need you in my bloodstream asap or I might die –“
Y/N gripped his shirt and pulled him down for another kiss before pushing him off her. Quickly she tiptoed to the counter to grab her coffee and lunch bag when she felt him playfully slap her ass. “Hands to yourself.” she scolded him. “No puppy eyes, no quivering lip –“
“Fine, fine.” he sighed. “Let me just grab my phone and we’ll –“ Y/N pulled his phone from her bag. “You think you are so smart, don’t you?” Y/N shrugged her shoulders, passed him his phone and walked out the door without saying a word, heading towards the elevator with him at her tail. They stood in silence while waiting for the doors to open, stealing glances at the other as usual whenever they were in public.  “So do we carpool or –“
“Sure, why not.” she took a shallow breath, meeting his eyes. “Saving the planet is always on the agenda, but remember –“ the elevator’s bell interrupted her. Kai gave her a slight nod and they walked in. As soon as the doors closed and it was just the two of them, Kai’s lips and hands were all over her making her forget whose air she was breathing… until the doors opened again and he pulled away as if nothing had happened.  Y/N stared at him and took a shallow breath. “We keep us between you and me. We ran into each other on the way there.”
“Gotcha –“ Kai smiled innocently at her, holding out the building door for her.
It took them less than 20 minutes to get to the boarding house, all the while during the car ride he wouldn’t let go off her hand. His gaze barely left her during the entire ride and on the few occasions the red light stopped them, he used his opportunity to steal a kiss or two. Though the closer they got to the Salvatore house, the harder things got and by the time he parked the car in front of the house their act had started. Who knew who might be watching out the windows. Y/N ran her fingers through her hair, lifting herself on her toes for a moment to check if there was someone in the living room and rang the bell. Kai stood awkwardly next to her, taking a step away when he heard someone coming towards the door.
“Hey, Y/N –“ smiled Caroline, opening the door. Y/N smiled her friend, whose smile faded away quickly when she saw Kai was there. “Are you stalking her or something? You keep showing up everywhere she is –“
Kai walked inside without waiting for an invitation. “Relax Clarisse. I ran into her on her way to the Grill. Isn’t your motto ‘All hands on deck.’ No, wait. It was ‘Protect the humans in Mystic Falls’ or something?” he glanced at Y/N, who rolled her eyes and made her way to the sofa. “Can’t let our golden girl die before graduation right?”
“We don’t have a motto.” Caroline closed the door, taking a step towards them. Kai poured himself two fingers bourbon and sat on the opposite end of sofa, though his eyes kept drifting towards his girl. “I’ll go get Damon, you stay away from her –“
Kai raised his hands in defence while Y/N pulled her laptop onto her lap and glanced at her friend. “No rush. I have to proof read this history paper for the –“
“—history teacher from Hell?” interrupted Kai. Y/N pursued her lips to try and hide her smile before glaring at him. “Sorry –“
“Whatever Sybil is up to at the high school, grades come first. Whitmore or Harvard or Cambridge – they won’t care about the Devil and his minions being let loose on Earth and me being in the middle of it.” muttered Y/N, her gaze drifting towards Caroline who was almost out of the living room in that moment. “Cannot get into law if my grades are flunking –“ she winked at Kai, who scooted a little closer to her. Her finger pressed the power button on the laptop and she mouthed at him ‘Stop looking at me like that.’, glancing back at the screen.
Kai grinned at her and took a sip of his drink, watching her eyes widen the second she glanced at the screen a moment before she closed the lid. “Everything okay?”
Y/N stared at him and turned her laptop towards him, opening the lid before making sure she couldn’t hear footsteps. Not that it mattered seeing how her friends could move faster than the light. “What is this?” she said in a hushed voice, pointing at her desktop wallpaper where instead of a picture of the waterfall near by the Wickery Bridge where was her and Kai’s secret make out spot out of the way, was currently a picture of a shirtless Kai in her bed with barely any fabric covering his –
“That’s me.” he smiled innocently at her, though his eyes sparkled with fire and mischief. “You like it?
“I know it’s you—“ she shook her head unsure of she should smile at him, kiss him or slap him for his little surprise. “—but how it got here?”
Kai scooted towards her, whispering in her ear. “I wanted to surprise you when you opened your laptop in the morning. I had no idea you’d end up coming with me here –“
“Color me surprised.” she pecked his lips. “And to answer your question – I love it. But if I had been at school – you could’ve sent me to the principal’s office. Detention doesn’t look good on college applications.”
Kai grinned at her. “As if I’d let that be a permanent mark in your file.” he leaned in closer. “Chocolate –“ he whispered in her ear. “How do you always smell like chocolate? It’s driving me nuts –“ Y/N turned her head sideways when he whooshed himself away. Her gaze drifted away and as soon as her friends popped up, she slammed her laptop shut. “Damon –“
Caroline glanced between her and Kai. “Everything okay? How’s your paper?”
Y/N looked up confused. “What?”
“The history paper for the teacher from Hell?” Damon waved his hands before her eyes. “It was such a big deal you had Stefan wrapped up into helping you. It better be good –“
“Oh, it’s – hot like a supernova. Definitely gonna bang that one later –“ Y/N muttered, catching Kai’s amused look for a second. “Ace it, I mean.” smiled Y/N, putting her laptop back in her bag. “You know me. I am never the one in trouble –“ her glance drifted towards Kai for a split second. “—though someone else is.”
Damon and Caroline glanced at each other and then at Kai and Y/N. “Who?”
“Sybil.” stated Y/N, glancing at her friends. “Who else?”
Damon poured himself a drink. “Yeah well, after what she almost pulled yesterday our little siren is lucky I haven’t ripped her head off for hurting my favorite little Gilbert.”
Kai glanced at Damon and then at his girl who kept avoiding his glance and somehow found a way to scoot away from him even further on the sofa. “After she pulled what yesterday?” his eyes remained fixed on Y/N. “What happened?”
Y/N brought her knees up to her chest. “Nothing –“
“I wouldn’t call you almost getting barbecued to the stake like a Salem witch nothing but –“ Damon muttered. Kai’s eyes widened and Y/N jumped up from her seat, taking Damon’s glass from his hand. “Be my guest –“
Kai jumped up right after here. “That’s why you were covered in dirt and ash last night—“ he muttered to himself, gripping her wrist. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Cuz I knew you’d freak.” she yanked her wrist back while Damon stood between them confused. “Plus, I wasn’t hurt –“
“You weren’t hurt?!” Kai exclaimed. “You could’ve died!!” Caroline and Damon glanced at each other while Y/N ran away from Kai and he kept going after her. “Don’t walk away from me.”
“I have legs, I can and will walk away –“ she said in a hushed voice. “—because we are not having this conversation here.”
Caroline stepped towards them. “What’s going on?” she turned towards Damon who shrugged his shoulders, squinting his eyes a little. “Why is he so upset?”
“I don’t know and I don’t like it.” Damon muttered watching Kai and Y/N have a silent starring contest. “You don’t think they –“
“No, no way.” Caroline’s eyes widened. “Not after he put her sister into a magical coma.”
Y/N ran her fingers through her hair. “Malachai, please –“
Kai shook his head. “You kept this from me. I thought we were done doing that.”
She tried to touch him but he pulled away. “I’m sorry.”
“You – you are sorry?” he gripped her hand and put it on his chest completely forgetting where they were. “Feel this? The air is being pulled out of my lungs and my heart being slowly torn right out of my chest, by you. Do you even realize what even the thought of me losing you is doing to me?”
Y/N shot him a warning glance but he didn’t seem to care they were in the middle of the Salvatore living room and her friends were there. Not only that but Bonnie just walked in with Matt. “Behave. Keep us between you and me. That’s all I asked.”
“Doesn’t apply to your safety.” he tucked in a strand of hair behind her ear. “This comes above all else—“
Damon grabbed Kai’s wrist and yanked him back, then turned towards Y/N. “Explain. Now. You got five seconds before he loses his head.”
“What’s going on here?” Bonnie wondered, dropping her jacket on the sofa. Matt raised his eyebrows, glancing at Kai and Y/N who pushed her way past Damon and took her boyfriend’s hand in hers. “Why are you two holding hands?”
“Kai and I –“ she glanced at him and sighed. “Last night after the whole incident I went to the Grill to get a drink and ran into Kai. He took me home and… that’s it.”
“That’s it?” Damon shrugged his shoulders. “What was he talking about then saying –“
“We kissed.” Kai protectively pushed Y/N a little behind him.
“What?!” Bonnie, Caroline, Matt and Damon exclaimed in unison.
Damon growled.”I’m gonna rip his head off –”
“I kissed her… because I like her and she likes me. I know you don’t like it or me especially after everything I’ve done. I deserve that, I am not a good person and I own that. But being with her these past few months… It’s something. And under other circumstances this warm and fuzzy feeling I get whenever I’m around her would be absolutely revolting to me, but I love it more than anything.” he sighed, gazing lovingly at her. “I love her –”
Damon started laughing and for a few moments it all seemed perfectly fine up until the point he pushed Kai ten feet away and turned towards Y/N. “Have you lost your mind? You want a boyfriend, I will find you a boyfriend. How about that boy who took you to prom a few months back –“
“Who? Jake? Y-you know Kai is the one who actually took me to prom and I made Jake up, right?” she said quietly. Damon’s eyes widened and he grabbed her shoulders, pinning her to the wall. Caroline rushed towards them but Kai was faster and pushed Damon off Y/N. “Jesus –“
“Nope. Just me.” Kai grinned. Y/N mouthed ‘Shut up’.
Caroline pulled Damon back. “Let her explain. Might not be what we think.” she glanced at Bonnie who was currently pouring herself a drink, clearly having a hard time taking in what was happening. “Y/N might be the youngest of all of us, but don’t forget who was the one who outsmarted Katherine –“
“Youngest, best-est, brightest… Hottest. –” grinned Kai, completely avoiding everyone’s looks. He only had eyes for his girl and her cheeks burned red at his words. “My girl–”
Damon groaned while Caroline closed her eyes, pressing her lips together trying not to comment on Kai’s words. “Tell me you are on vervain –” the vampire asked.
“You think Kai compelled me to love him?! Are you insane?! You wanna know the truth? Here it is – ” Y/N said, holding tightly onto Kai’s hand. “You vanished, Damon! You and Enzo. Elena was in a sleeping curse, Jeremy is God knows where and everyone was busy looking for you. I lost everything and everyone in a blink of an eye because of Sybil… Except Kai, who was there every time I was alone at the Grill, or when I needed someone to talk to who didn’t mind listening to me ramble for hours. Kai who made sure I got home safely every night and kept me safe from all those guys who kept getting too handsy.”
Kai poked her in the stomach. “Awh, don’t skip on the best part. The first night I followed her home to make sure she got there safely and my little fireball here pulled a knife on me.” he grinned. “I swear I’ve never been more arous—“ he cleared his throat. Everyone except Y/N almost collectively groaned at his words. “—ed than when she gripped my hand behind my back and shoved me face-first against the door, and then put the blade under my chin and tilted my head towards her. Something happened when our eyes met and I just… knew it was her I had been looking for all my life without realizing it.”
“Awwhh –“ she hugged him with one arm, both of them looking at each other with heart eyes. “You never told me that.”
“So what?” Bonnie snapped. “Just because he acted like a decent human being for once, you decided he is a good boyfriend material? He is a murderer!”
Y/N sighed quietly and stared at her friends as if to say ‘Really? You are going with that one?’ “He is the man I love –“ she stated, feeling Kai squeeze her hand for a moment before he leaned in towards her, inhaling her scent. Damon growled. “I know you all have complicated history with him, but the Kai I know is not the Kai you see. He is not the same person he was back when he came out of 1994 –”
“Yes, we remember he turned from an evil caterpillar into a slightly less evil butterfly –” interrupted Damon with his usual snark. “But he still is who he is –”
“He is not the person he was after 1903 where you left him –“
“To protect Jo and everyone else!” Bonnie took a step towards her. “He killed his entire family –“
“And whose fault is that?” Kai said. Y/N kicked him in the shin. “I am just saying, I never would’ve –“
Bonnie shot him a glare that made Y/N’s blood freeze and the second she saw her friend’s hand shoot up, she stood between them. “There is nothing you can do or say to change that. I am old enough to live on my own, old enough to make my own decisions. You hurt him, you hurt me.”
Kai grinned and wrapped his hands around her from behind. “My girl. So fiery.” He pulled her up a little until her feet kicked at the air and he heard her laugh. “Love it.” he kissed her cheek as he let her feet back on the ground. “Love you –“
     “I love you too –“
Damon groaned. “Ugh… my ears are bleeding.” Y/N rolled her eyes and took a step towards him, wrapping her arms around him. There was one thing Damon couldn’t resist – her hugs. Perhaps because in a way it made him feel close to Elena again, or maybe he just didn’t want to break little Gilbert’s heart. “You have lost it. Positively and when you end up dead, and you will, just make sure Elena knows I was against it and tried to make you see reason.”
“You can’t be okay with this?” Bonnie protested. “What if –?”
“I’d never hurt her.” Kai said quietly, glancing at every single of his girl’s friends. “I’d die before that happens or before I let anyone else hurt her. I’d gladly sacrifice my life to keep her safe.” He caught Damon’s gaze. “You know I’m telling the truth. You might not trust me about anything else, but trust me about this –“
Damon groaned wrapping his arms around her, studying Kai’s face. “Just… no more kissing and googly eyes and the L word mention around us, okay?” he kissed her head. “Or I might forget and just rip his head off for even daring to breathe the air around you.”
Y/N pulled away with a smile on her face. “Thank you.”
Kai leaned in to whisper in her ear. “What did Sybil do when she messed with his mind? We might need to send her a ‘thank you’ card.”
“Only thing keeping me from killing you right now is because Elena would never forgive me if I killed her little sister’s… whatever he is, even if he is the one who put her in a coma.” muttered Damon. “Don’t push it.”

Of course :D Video Games are the best :D
Phantom Thieves with a S/O who loves video games
Akira Kurusu:
> He’s quite fond of them himself actually
> The two of you often end up playing together whenever you come over to chill in his attic
> Of course, Morgana tries to join in
> But it turns out catpaws are not the best when it comes to movement
> So instead you tell him to press the buttons for you
> “Isn’t that cheating?” Akira says, his eyes never leaving the screen
> “Haha, I think you’re just jealous ‘cause he chose to help me!” You stick your tongue out and wink
> He chuckles before pausing the game
> “Hey! What was that for?” You say as you turn and pout at him
> “For this.”
> Before you know what’s happening, his lips gently collide with yours, leaving you frozen in place
> Gah why is this boy so perfect!
Ann Takamaki:
> She’s more into anime to be honest
> But if you want to play, then she will play too!
> You spend some time showing her the basic controls and let her get used to what she actually has to do
> But after sometime, she becomes bored
> Suddenly she lets out a small gasp before turning to you with an excited look on her face
> “Hey I have an idea! You like all types of games right?” She asks with a big smile on her face
> “Uh, yeah pretty much… Why?” You answer, raising your eyebrow
> “Hehe, in that case…” She quickly stands up and then pulls you to your feet
> Wrapping an arm around your arm, she quickly drags you out of your house and heads towards the arcade
> “Hm? Why did you bring me here?”
> “Dance battle!”
> She tilts her head at the dancing machine and you cover your mouth as you laugh loudly
> “Oh you’re so gonna lose Ann…”
> “Hah as if!”
Ryuji Sakamoto:
> The boy loves playing games
> In fact, before he found out your love for games he would often invade Akira’s house just so he could have a game partner
> He loves playing Co-op games with you, especially apocalyptic ones like Resident Evil 6
> Granted, the games you play aren’t always the top bestselling games
> But neither of you care, you just enjoy making each other laugh by making stupid jokes and comments as you play
> Although, he does get scared quite easily
> So whenever a boss appeared, he would cling to you first before picking up his controller again
> “You okay Ryuji?” You ask as you giggle quietly
> “Of course! I was just…. Making sure that you weren’t scared, duh.”
> “Ah… My hero.”
> He’s about to make one more comment but you quickly shush him by placing a kiss on his cheek
> “Alright back to the game now Ryuji!”
Makoto Niijima:
> She wasn’t really… Knowledgeable when it came to games
> But she was more than willing to learn
> “Um… I’m sorry S/O but I don’t really…” She says as she looks at you in confusion
> “Haha… Here let me help,” You shuffle across to where she’s sitting and gently wrap your arms around her so that your hands end up being on top of hers
> “Alright so, this is your attack button and this is the jump button...” You gently move her fingers to each button as you explain their functions
> You notice a faint blush starting to form on her cheeks but decide not to point it out and instead just smile to yourself
> You spend some time watching as she tries to use all the things you’ve taught her
> Once you’re satisfied with the progress the two of you made, you lean close to her again
> “So… Was this helpful?” You whisper into her ear
> “Y-Yes… If you don’t mind I would like to… Learn a bit more.”
Yusuke Kitagawa:
> He’d often just watch as you play
> But he’d be sure to point out if he likes the art style of the game
> Sometimes, you’d notice him scribbling stuff down in his notebook
> “Do you want to have a go Yusuke?” You ask as you wave the controller in front of his face
> “Hm? Oh, no thank you, I don’t think I’m any good to be honest.” He answers without taking his eyes off of his sketchbook
> “Haha, it doesn’t really matter if you’re good at a game or not.”
> He looks up at you then and tilts his head slightly
> “What do you mean S/O?”
> “Well… Everyone has a different play-style. Some people find joy playing competitively online whilst others find it fun to slowly explore every single place in an open world game… The most important thing is to enjoy your experience!”
> He looks at you, slightly stunned
> “E-Eh?… Did I say something weird?…”
> “No, not at all, that was… Very inspirational S/O” He smiles softly as he says that before placing his sketchbook on the floor
> “May I have a go then?”
> “Of course!”
Futaba Sakura:
> She’s so happy!
> She loves playing games too!
> She’d often choose games where you have to compete against each other such as Mario Kart or some sort of fighting game
> Although her being a hacker, her button mashing skills are amazing
> So most of the time she ends up defeating you
> “Yes!” She raises both of her arms above her head and cheers
> “Congratulations Futaba!” You say as you offer her a kind smile
> “Want a rematch?” She asks as she exits to the main menu
> “Hmm…” You pat your chin before turning to face her,
> “Only if we’re going to be competing over who gets to eat the last tub of ice cream.”
> She gasps before grabbing the controller
> “I won’t lose to you!” She proudly announces
Haru Okumura:
> She loved watching you play, you just seemed so happy!
> Of course, you’d often end up gaming for hours so she’d often go and make tea or coffee for the two of you
> “S/O! Time for a short break!”
> She places a cup of coffee in front of you and smiles
> You quickly pause the game and glance down at it only to find that she managed to make the cream on top look like a cat
> “Awh Haru… That’s adorable! I feel bad drinking it now haha…”
> She giggles quietly before taking a sip of her own coffee
> “I tried using different beans today that Sakura - san recommended so I hope you like it!”
> You smile before taking a sip
> “Oooh… That’s so good Haru!”
> “Thank you!”
> She glances at the TV screen then
> “What game are you playing now S/O? Did you finish the one you were playing last week… What was it…” She taps the cup with her fingernails as she thinks…
“Oh! Nier… Automata was it?…”
> You nod
> “Yes that’s the one!.. And no not yet haha… I still have four more endings to get.”
> “Oh I see! Well, let me help you”

Chapter 174
Tumblr media
Sevyn
"I'm going to New York to party with white boys." Chris says in my face.
I grab his cheeks pinching them. "You are a white boy."
He sticks his tongue out. "I fuck like one."
"There's only one place for your tongue and it's nowhere near my face."
"Here?" He says putting his hands on my nipple.
I let his face go. "I don't know. See."
"No." he says standing up. "I'm going to New York to party with white boys. Right now."
"What about your show in the morning in Houston?"
He shrugs. "I'll leave my white boy party in time."
"I'm going to Miami to roast in the sun."
"Miami? What's in Miami? Not no fucking Spider."
I narrow my eyes at him. "What's this relationship that you created in your head between me and Spider? Who I only worked with one time."
"I might go to Miami." he says.
"No. I am going to Miami in the morning when you are headed to your show."
He seems like he gets pissed. "Don't fucking do shit like that. When I leave. So you want to make sure I don't fucking go?"
"Christopher Maurice." I say turn over on my side. "I don't have time for your ranting."
"Whatever."
I roll my eyes. He so insecure. "It's a family trip, Christopher."
"That I'm not invited to."
"You really aren't but since it's just me and Tim you are more than welcome."
Chris folds his arms. "Your dad birthday thing?"
"Yeap. But do come. After your show. Fly right on out to Miami."
"I'm good." he says lying on the bed.
"Why are we in this ugly room?"
"Gave my bed to Mama Rose. You got a problem with that?"
I look at his face. "I have a fucking problem with your fucking mood swings. I mean damn, weren't you upset?"
"I need someone to tell me what to do about this baby."
"Joyce told you she had it under control. Why do you still need something?"
He blows. "I'm tired of Joyce always handling shit. I'm grown. I can handle shit myself."
I laugh. "Since when? You just said..."
"Aaahhh." he says covering my mouth. "You fake, Amber."
"I'm real, my nigga. From forehead to toe."
He laughs. "Yeah cause this shit ain't real."
"Get out of my hair and go hang with your white boys. I will be fine at the Happy Home til then morning."
"I'm staying here." He says undressing.
I turn over on my side and start snoring. He puts his warm body on me. We call their house the Happy Home because when we are here there are never problems. It's always a place to relax and wine down the craziest of everything outside the house. The door is always open. It a vacation spot around beautiful people. Plus Cammie and Trey are perfect and inspirational. Black Love.
"Lane was running around the house earlier naked."
"When?" I laugh.
"You were gone. This morning."
I laugh. "He is a mess. He told me that I need to go to my house. Not his house but my own house. His reason was because I turned the TV while he was gone out of our room."
"He calls me a bitch every time he gets in trouble."
"Cammie will pinch his ass whenever he curse no matter who he talking to. She said it's gone too far."
Chris starts kissing my breasts. "I kinda hope the kid is mine but I wish it was different."
"I saw her."
"What?" he says sitting up.
I smirk. "You pissed me off so I didn't tell you. She was with her grandma. Looking just like you. You knew there was a possibility a big one that she was yours. She is yours if you need to hear it."
"When the hell were you mad at me?"
"Bruh, we didn't talk for days. Do you not remember this?"
He sighs. "Doing the tour."
"Okay, thank you."
"You welcome." he sits up smiling. "She looks like me?"
I roll my eyes. "Exactly why I didn't say nothing before."
"Joyce said everything will be known by tomorrow. She won't tell me what it means."
"You should be mad I kept it from you."
He shrugs. "Not at the Happy Home. It's all love here."
I laugh. "You fake."
"I've been trying to make a fucking baby with any and everybody but her. Crazy bitch don't desire the baby."
"Oh yeah let's talk about your exes and all the unprotected sex you had with them. Eww."
"Oh shut up. You nasty."
I put my feet on his chest. "I'm a lady."
He lifts my legs higher. "Ladies don't fuck people like me."
"Actually, good girl, bad boy. Ladies do fuck boys like you. It's a common problem."
"It's the dick." he says putting my ankles on his shoulder.
I laugh. "Yeah, that would be why you can't keep them. That's not enough at the end of the day. Dick is out there."
"Who the hell I was with that was a good girl? Trying to come for me. Shut your fucking crusty lips and focus on opening these lips." he says rubbing his head on my pussy.
"Completely silent, Master?"
He ignores me. I start to laugh but he enters me pushing deep. I smile at him. I play too much so I'm going to try my best not to make a sound. Good dick might make that hard. I shallow the stop the moan. Shit. Chris looks from watching himself perform. He looked confused but he doesn't stop. He pushes all the way inside of me pressing his body against my legs. Oh shit. I take a deep breath. He opens my legs enough for his body to come through. I hold back my smile once he is in my face.
"I know what you like." he says.
"Okay, Chris." I make it short.
He starts to say something but doesn't say shit. He starts grinding into me. I close my eyes. I smile at him then open my eyes. He sits up. I ain't fighting it anymore. He pushes against my legs then starts thrusting faster. I let whatever come out of my mouth that wanted to. I try to move his hands. He was about to fuck it all up with a cramp in my leg. He lifts my hips bringing them to him more. Fuck.

  MiMi
JJ picks up the diaper putting it behind his baby. "Where the diaper?"
I gasp. "Oh no. What did I do with it?"
"Mookie, listen to this." Dee says taking the diaper from JJ.
"Aye!" JJ says.
"Go eat your food."
JJ runs out of the room really fast. Well damn is he that hungry? Dee slides Minnie over to him then grab the wet wipes. I wasn't going to change words about him changing that green bean diaper. I gave her food for the first time. Baby food. JJ has fed her something before.
"You mighty happy. Changing diapers and shit."
"What the hell?" Dee says. "Why is it green?"
"I told you I gave her peas."
He makes a face close to her face. "If I ever have problems with you I'm reminding you of this moment."
"Look at how she is looking at you."
"Take my serious." he says touching her nose with his. She laughs at him. "I found the perfect place for the wedding."
"You wanted me to listen to that?"
He reaches in his pocket taking out his cellphone. "No, I want you to listen to this voicemail. I accept you getting mad but remember that it's not real. You don't even have to remember that. I'll tell you again."
"I don't like it. Don't let me hear it."
"Then you gonna say I was hiding shit." he says playing the message.
It's a girl's voice. "Hey, Bae. Just calling to see how you doing. I sure did miss having you in my arms. Now that you are gone again I seem lost without you. Yes, I understand you finally settling down. I just want to know if you think about us. What we would have had if she hadn't gotten pregnant. Do you still think about me? Anyway, I'm babbling. Hit me up if you want to do us just one last time before you become that family man she pushing you so hard to be. Love always, your Little Tot."
"I didn't even want to hear that shit."
"Who said I wanted to hear it?"
I roll my eyes. "Wont you give her whatever the fuck it is she wants."
He stands Minnie up then smiles at her. "Give her our kids and your identity?"
"What? You can't give away... Shut up."
"Moo, she wants to be you. She wants what we have. I told you how bad she wanted my baby."
I roll my eyes. "That's the fucking thing. Oh my gosh. Why we even talking about the bitch you cheated on me with?"
"We weren't officially back together."
"Oh please."
He lies Minnie down in front of me then stands up straight. "Alright moving on. I haven't talked to this girl since. Damn, Mook, I thought you would ask how she got my new number. You not even mad like I thought."
"I'm moving forward to be a better us. Keep up with the Jones. People tell me how much my relationship is but I don't agree cause we had problems. I'm moving forward. Are you?"
"A job where the cops can't come lock me up at any moment and food on my table. I'm moving forward."
"Minnie?" I say rubbing her stomach. "Are you moving forward?"
Dee chuckles. "I'm even moving forward from my idea that I'm less than a man for not having millions like my friends. I need new friends."
I laugh. "Hang with your old broke friends."
"In Charleston? Mookie how you expect me to do that? Plus they talking shit about me being a monkey on the fence. Halfway between the white man's world and the hood."
"Damn, they not giving you any in between? It's sellout or selling foodstamps?"
He laughs. "They don't know that every where I am is because of you. Fuck a white man. I'm living to make you happy."
"Awh, ain't you sweet."
JJ comes in the room. "When we going to Lane house?"
I smile. "We aren't going today."
"Not ever?"
"Not today. Where did you get that from?" I ask staring at him.
Dee looks at him. "Go play with your toys. Do you not have fun toys?"
"I don't have Lane."
"Lane is not a toy. Did you eat your food?"
He nods his head. "All my hot dog."
"Go play."
"He gets little statments from nowhere. That boy has too many toys."
I few seconds later you could hear him making a lot of noise. Same thing he does with Lane he does here alone. Bad ass thinks that he has to play with only Lane. Surprised he didnt ask to go see Joyce. He loves that line when he is in trouble.
"Minnie." Dee says picking her up. "It's kinda boring here."
"It's home. Make it not boring. What is wrong with y'all?"
He puts Minnie down. "I do have a new Xbox. Let me see if Trey wants to get online."
"You could have stayed at his house for that." I roll my eyes.
"Not to play online."
"If you bored, get your daughter. I'm mad she doesn't sleep all day anymore. I want to sleep all day still."
He takes her. "At this age they are perfect video game buddies. They don't want to do nothing but stare at the TV. I got you Minnie."
"I got to use the bathroom, Mommy." JJ yells holding himself.
"Go pee!"
"It stuck." JJ whines.
I pull myself off the bed quickly against my will. JJ starts crying as I take his pants loose. I pick him up and take him to the bathroom. I don't think kids are truly accident free until 7 or 8. JJ definitely has lots of issues. I stand him up in the tub then sit his potty in the tub. He attempts to pee in the potty but it goes over the tub. He was still upset about the whole thing. I undress him then wash him off. He leaves crying to Dee.
"Boy, hush. Go get some clothes."
"Pajamas?"
"Yeah, go."
I clean the tub then go into the room. Dee is on the phone laughing really hard. Why does he feel the need to video chat with Trey? Trey is hard down telling him a story. Dee laughs extra loud. He fake. I lay down on the bed watching him. He tells Trey about the ex girlfriend.
"Oh you ain't even famous." Trdy laughs. "Imagine shit coming from different angles. Exes, one night stands, the bitch that gave you a pen, the girl that touched your hand without permission, hell the fan you never met... One ex. Great."
"Well, damn. It is just one."
Trey laughs. "But the bitch can do damage. I'm writing my own advise novel. Eliminate them all. One bitch can take away years from a life you love. One bitch can get in your head when you slipping. One wrong move. Bam. Some other nigga playing house with your happy family you worked hard to make."
"You reading this?" Dee laughs.
"I tell myself that every time I walk away from my family into temptation. One bitch out there waiting. Shit thousands. You got one. I'm surprised a few of my exes are still silent. So how this girl got your number? Nope hold up. Put your headphones on. Beckham you in my fucking lounge again?" the phone hangs up.
Dee laughs out loud again. "We need another player. Huh? Oh nah. I sure didn't. No lie. Aye, my number not hard to get. Especially when these iPhones fucking sends shit to old contacts that it wants to get out the fucking cloud. That has happened."
"Oh my goodness!" I yell kicking the bed. "Shut up. Play your game and stop chatting. Why you even start the game in here?"
"I wanted to be close to you."
"Devin don't make me throw something at the back of your head."
"Don't hit my daughter."
I turn over on my side. "Shut up and we won't have problems."
"Yeah, I'm on restriction. It's limited to game talk." he says then laugh. "I'm sorry, Bae. I'm done."
"I put my clothes on." JJ says walking into the room.
Dee laughs. "Homie, you going some place special? You look sharp. Hold on."
"I go to Lane house?"
"Little homie, go play. Good job putting your clothes on."
Dee takes a picture. JJ had on a fitted top and black dress pants. He really did put them on well. I chuckle then close my eyes. I know this nap is not going to happen. No sooner than the thought leaves my mind. JJ starts crying.
"Don't climb on her fucking head!"
"I want to play." JJ cries.
Dee stands him up on the floor. "Don't play with me boy."
"No fair."
"Go play your game."
"Not the baby game."
Dee ignores him. I sigh and turn over to watch them. JJ is going to continue until he gets popped. Dee continues to laugh extra loud. He should have stayed on the phone so I could hear his conversation. Trey may have done it on purpose.

Protective Newsies x Badass! Reader HC’s + Race
Requested by: Anon “Girlsie fluff where my smol beans are super protective even though she’s a badass! Also maybe she’s dating Race?” A/N: Yet another badass newsie fluff thing!! I turned this into a bunch of HC’s for y’all
——
- Alrighty - So you’re a newsie - D U H - You’re the only girlsie there - When you first showed up to sell papes - Everyone, and I mean everyone started to flirt with you - And yes, it was flattering, and yes it was cute but like - B O Y S - LEAVE ME ALONE - You’ve also come from a very rough part of town and you’ve had to learn to defend yourself and whatnot - And sometimes you could be a bit touchy - For example - One time, a customer called you short/ugly/insulted you - And you nearly soaked him - Race was there to hold you back - SPEAKING OF RACE - When you first bought papes, he was your selling partner - You didn’t really trust boys since you’ve been through pretty bad breakups before - But with race - He was an angel - A FUCKING SAINT AND YOU LOVED HIM - He eventually became your boyfriend :)))))) - And the newsies no longer flirted with you (okay maybe some did) but other than that they all treated you like a sister - They’re super protective - They all knew Race was your boyfriend, but they didn’t care that he was like family - If he hurt you, they’d soak him - And RACE IS PROTECTIVE ASF TOO - One day you were selling papes and - There was this drunk perv who happened to be walking by - And the perv decided to flirt with you - You ignored him - And since the perv was drunk - He decided to hurt you
- Race was over on the other side of the street when he heard you shriek - And he rushed over - And he saw that you had a busted lip and black eye - But the perv had gone - But since Race is protective: - “Doll! Oh- oh gosh, are youse alright?” - “I soaked him race! Ya proud of me?” - “Baby, you’re hurt.” - “It’s just my lip. And my eye is fine.” - “I need them lips though!” - “But I’m alright!” - “No more selling until you get better.” - And you’d protest but he’d only carry you bridal style and bring you back to the Lodging House - You’d try to sneak out - But race had all the boys stop you - And they led you back to rest - You groaned out of pain once and they all care rushing to your side - You just really love them all - And they love you so much - You’re just this big happy family and you’d do the same for them - Ugh I love them so much awh
