Note
for orange selling/restoration era jokes, theres a period drama play called nell gwynn by jessica swale & in the beginning, nell herself is making jokes whilst selling oranges at a theatre if that helps? idk if you can find the script or preview it online but aahhh it seemed era appropriate
i already made the joke, it got 8 notes. it was "buy 2 get 1 free for your bobolyne, brittany of avon-at-the-sea, thou bedswerver." i thought this was funny because avon-at-the-sea is actually in new jersey and thus, not period appropriate. i haven't heard of jessica swale but that sounds interesting

UK To Invest £9 million To Make Ports And Local Areas Brexit Ready
Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP announced that an extra £9 million will be made available to ensure local areas and major ports are ready for Brexit. A total of £5 million will be given to local councils which either have or are near to major air, land or seaport to ensure they will continue to operate efficiently when the UK leaves the EU on 31 October.
The remaining £4 million will be shared out to local resilience forums (LRFs), partnerships made up of representatives from local public services, across England to support them in their preparations.
The funding can be used by local areas to support the development of robust Brexit plans for their areas and for continued preparedness activities, including additional staffing costs. The extra funding follows a £20 million boost for councils announced in August to ramp-up preparations for leaving the EU by appointing a designated Brexit lead.
This brings the total funding allocated by the government to help local areas prepare for Brexit to £77 million to date.
Local Government Secretary Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP said:
From keeping our supply chains running and ensuring goods continue to flow into the country, to putting robust plans in place for every community, local government is playing a vital role in preparing the country to be fully ready to leave the EU on 31 October.
We have stepped up our preparedness significantly in recent weeks, including by asking every council to appoint a Brexit Lead Officer. Now we are releasing an additional £9 million of additional funding today to help local areas get ready for Brexit, whatever the circumstances.
Local authorities in Kent will receive over £2.6 million in recognition of the county is home to a number of the significant and busiest ports in the area including the Port of Dover, Eurotunnel, Ashford, and Ebbsfleet.
Kent County Council will receive £1 million, and £1.6 million will be shared between a further 13 local authorities in the county.
The allocations have been based on a number of factors including the expected impact on the local area, the amount of EU goods received by port areas into the country and the areas wider importance to the UK’s trade network.

Councils awarded £866m civils cash for housing projects – Full list
Up to 200,000 homes are set to get off the ground after the government allocated £866m to councils to support local housing projects today.
More than 130 council-led projects will receive Government funding to support civil engineering projects to make housing developments viable and get much-needed homes built quicker.
With the government committed to building 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s,
The release of funding is the first wave of funding allocation from the £5bn Housing Infrastructure Fund established to fix the broken housing market.
This will fund key local infrastructure projects including new roads, cycle paths, flood defences and land remediation work, all essential ahead of building the homes.
Without this financial support these projects would struggle to go ahead or take years for work to begin, delaying the homes these communities need. Together with the government’s Industrial Strategy, it will provide high-quality infrastructure to support economic growth.
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, said: “Today marks the first step of the multi-billion pound investment we announced at the Budget to help build the homes our country needs.
“This fund finances vital infrastructure such as roads, schools and bridges, which will kick-start housing development in some of Britain’s highest-demand areas.

Inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved book, Matilda The Musical was commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and premiered at the RSC’s Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in November 2010, before transferring to London’s West End in October 2011, where it opened to rave reviews.
Having swept the board at the 2012 Olivier Awards, winning a record-breaking seven awards, the New York production of Matilda The Musical opened in April 2013 at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre and was celebrated on 10 “Top Ten” lists for 2013, including TIME Magazine’s #1 Show of the Year. The show also won four Tony Awards and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater for the four girls sharing the title role on Broadway.
In July 2016, the Australian production broke further records by winning all 13 Helpmann Awards for which it was nominated. Having also won a Sydney Theatre Award for Best Musical in 2015, the Australian production has also played sold-out seasons in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
Matilda The Musical is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company with André Ptaszynski and Denise Wood as Executive Producers. The production was developed with the support of Jeanie O’Hare and the RSC Literary Department.

Baby, I've been there before
I was at the point where all I really wanted was someone
And now I'm still hanging on
I was at the end of every tether waiting for what once was

Being stuck in the water tends to drain me
When did my toes and fingers get so wrinkly?
I don't know how long I've been like this
But if I drowned, would I be missed?
I'll just towel off and tell the world I'm good
