someone is charging $500 for this MĆ©lodie Daoust card on eBay and I bought the exact same card from someone else on eBay for $15 šŸ˜‚ the way some folks know nothing about the womenā€™s hockey card market and just assume a card is worth a lot because of, in this case, a player retiring or they have a really recognizable name in the sport. yes, itā€™s a rad card that wouldā€™ve been tough to get last year when this set came out given these cards were 1:320 packs but itā€™s not even close to being worth $500ā€¦..

So idk if Iā€™m missing something, but Iā€™ve been learning more about cars and I looked up how to change my spark plugs, and I think I could totally do thatā€¦ā€¦ I know the one thing is you want to be careful not to crossthread or break them bc then you can get into some deep doodoo depending on how bad it is, but thatā€™s pretty avoidable if youā€™re careful in certain ways.
Itā€™s the difference of like $30 if I do it vs the $460 the shop quoted me - fucking ridiculous, and I need a bunch of other work done on my car too that I know I mostly canā€™t do myself (yet šŸ˜ˆ). Iā€™m so tempted to just do this myself, itā€™s not a huge ordeal at all and Iā€™d really like to learn more about doing car stuff on my own as it is so I can go to the mechanic less and therefore spend (way) less. Thereā€™s no reason I shouldnā€™t be able to learn to do an oil change and the like. Tbh it feels so wrong partially just since Iā€™m a woman lol - itā€™s so dumb and normally I donā€™t feel affected by gender roles like this, but for some reason this one is ground in so deep that itā€™s not my territory and I ā€œcanā€™tā€ understand. But that just makes me want to do it all the more!
But car people - am I missing something big that makes this much harder than it looks?ā€¦ The spending difference is so insane, it seems too good to be true. I donā€™t want to be hasty and fuck something up but Iā€™m really struggling to find a reason why not to go ahead with it. And my spark plugs are reallyyyyy needing it at this point.

How to Identify Different Types of Tire Plugs?
Tumblr media
To identify different types of tire plugs, examine their design and materials, such as rubber, rope, or mushroom shapes, each serving specific puncture repair needs. Additionally, check their size and length, as these factors determine their suitability for various tire punctures and the conditions they can withstand.
When it comes to maintaining your vehicle, a flat tire can be one of the most frustrating experiences. Fortunately, tire plugs are a popular and effective solution for repairing punctures. Understanding the different types of tire plugs and how to identify them can help you make informed decisions about your tire maintenance and repairs. Hereā€™s a guide to help you navigate the various options available.
What Are Tire Plugs?
Tire plugs are used to seal punctures in tires, particularly in the tread area. They are often made of rubber or synthetic materials and are designed to fill the hole created by a puncture, preventing air from escaping. While some drivers may opt for a full tire replacement, plugs can be a cost-effective and quick solution for minor punctures.
Types of Tire Plugs
There are several types of tire plugs, each designed for specific applications and puncture types. Hereā€™s how to identify them:
1. Rubber Tire Plugs
Identification: Rubber tire plugs are the most common type and are typically black in color. They come in various shapes and sizes but are generally cylindrical. The rubber material allows for flexibility, making them suitable for different tire types.
Usage: These plugs are inserted into punctures with a reamer tool. They are best for small punctures, usually less than Ā¼ inch in diameter, and can provide a temporary or permanent seal depending on installation.
2. Tubeless Tire Plugs
Identification: Tubeless tire plugs are similar to rubber plugs but are specifically designed for tubeless tires. They often feature a fibrous or corded structure, which helps the plug better adhere to the tire.
Usage: These plugs are inserted through the tire's puncture hole and can effectively seal larger punctures. They are an excellent choice for off-road vehicles or motorcycles where quick repairs are often needed.
3. String Tire Plugs
Identification: String tire plugs are usually made from a fibrous material and resemble a thick string or cord. They are often sold in kits that include a reamer and insertion tool.
Usage: These plugs are inserted into the puncture and expanded to fill the hole. They are best suited for temporary repairs but can also be effective for longer-term use if installed correctly.
4. Mushroom Tire Plugs
Identification: Mushroom tire plugs have a unique shape that resembles a mushroom. They consist of a long shaft with a bulbous end that sits on the inside of the tire.
Usage: These plugs are inserted from the inside of the tire, making them suitable for more extensive punctures. They provide a more permanent solution than traditional plugs and are often used in professional tire repair shops.
5. Repair Kits
Identification: Repair kits typically contain various plug types, along with the necessary tools for installation. These kits may include rubber plugs, string plugs, and mushroom plugs, each designed for specific puncture scenarios.
Usage: Having a repair kit can be beneficial for emergency situations, allowing you to quickly address different types of punctures on the road.
How to Choose the Right Tire Plug
When selecting a tire plug, consider the following factors:
Puncture Size: Assess the size of the puncture to determine which type of plug is appropriate. For small punctures, rubber plugs or string plugs are often sufficient, while larger holes may require mushroom plugs.
Tire Type: Different tires (e.g., tubeless vs. tube-type) may require specific plug types. Ensure that the plug you choose is compatible with your tire.
Temporary vs. Permanent Repair: If you need a quick fix, string plugs or rubber plugs can work temporarily. For more durable repairs, consider using mushroom plugs or professional repair methods.
Conclusion
Identifying different types of tire plugs is essential for effective tire maintenance and repairs. By understanding the characteristics and applications of each type, you can choose the best solution for your tireā€™s specific needs. Whether youā€™re a seasoned driver or a novice, being knowledgeable about tire plugs can save you time and money on unexpected flat tire repairs. Always ensure that your tires are in good condition and consider consulting a professional for larger punctures or significant damage.
