I don't see other Authors/Writers as my competition. I see them as my extended family and I want to see them WIN. I want to help build them up and give them a sense of community. We should ALL be supporting one another and helping each other up the damn mountain instead of stepping on each other to possibly advance a few feet. Being a writer (or artist of any kind, really) is freaking difficult enough without piling on by mistreating one another. Let's start a revolution of support and watch how fast we all GROW!

Have already written things like
“You have already given kudos to this work” as a comment
But this is another great way to make it real!
Hey friends. Do this:
Tumblr media
This probably took this person 3 seconds to do but it immediately told me that they liked my story enough to come back and read it again and they liked it again the second time.
Your favorite writers Do Not Know that you think about their stories after you read them. I generally assume that my stories make people happy for the few minutes they’re reading and then they never think about it again. To know that that’s not the case and that someone has returned just makes my little heart swell with joy.
I needed this today. If you’re the person who left this comment (or if you’ve ever commented on any of my writing) I love you.

Review: The Stars May Rise And Fall By Estella Mirai
For the first time ever, I’m reviewing a book by one of my moots here on tumblr, and the moot in question is, as you might have guessed, Estella Mirai! I didn’t read the synopsis before I bought the book, I must confess that right away. I skimmed it, and I saw, gay Phantom Of The Opera retelling set in 2000s Japan, and I knew I had to read it. My little readers’ heart fell in love at hello…And boy, did it stay that way.
Little bit about the premise first, Teru is the drummer of failing visual kei band La Rose Verboten, who are, in his own words, good, but not great, or at least, not great enough to land any real success in Japan’s cut-throat music industry. Their only claim to fame is their lead singer, Bara, whose vocal range is mediocre at best, but his attractiveness has garnered the attention of a small group of girls who regularly show up at La Rose’s performances, not for the rest of the band, but for him. Naturally, this all changes when Teru gets a text from a mysterious stranger who claims that he can help him, and after said stranger, known only as Rei, orchestrates an incident that causes Bara to quit the band, Teru is forced to become the band’s new lead singer. Thus begins the story of La Rose’s rise to fame, and Teru’s relationship with Rei, a disgraced former star who was left permanently disabled after a car accident which killed his previous boyfriend.
I must confess, I don’t know much about the visual kei scene—I hadn’t been born yet when visual kei was in its prime, but I didn’t need to come in with prior knowledge—Everything about the visual kei scene was explained organically by an author who clearly knows their stuff about it. I truly enjoyed seeing La Rose’s progression from nobodies to stars, and the problems that the band face—From Minori and Teru’s parents disapproving of their sons’ career choices, to Minori facing the threat of having to give up on his dreams if the band doesn’t start making more money were very true to life and well done. I also enjoyed Rei’s character development, starting from wanting to vicariously live through Teru, and enjoy the success he feels should have been his, and ending with him sacrificing his relationship with Teru so that he won’t choose him over his dreams. By the end of the book, my neighbours must have thought that I was crazy, because I was full on screaming, kicking my legs like a teenage girl. This book left me on the best emotional high possible, and I would’ve loved to see a little more of Teru and Rei rekindling their relationship, and making up for all of the lost time. My ramblings aside, this was a great read, and I would highly recommend it. Head to Goodreads to be redirected to the right Amazon page for your country if you want to buy a copy!

That thing where readers wonder if a writer will continue the fic.
It goes the other way too! If a reader has been commenting and then stops, we notice and wonder where they went and hope they come back 🥺
If you don't think that fanfic writers get attached to their commenters and repeat commenters... you're crazy.
There's people who comment on my stories, disappear for months at a time, then comment when they catch up and I almost always remember their tagnames. It means the WORLD to me as a writer to have people who comment both regularly and irregularly on my stories/oneshots/moodboards.
When you guys go away for a few weeks or months... we notice! We hope you're okay and just taking a break, and when you come back rested and excited to read more stories, we're so happy to have you back.
So yes, please comment on stories even if it's once in a blue moon. You're not annoying, you're not overbearing for multiple comments or being super excited. You're helping fuel a writer to keep writing just to see what you have to say next about the next chapter! You're doing the Lord's work with your comments!
Whether you leave a Russian novel in a comment, or just go "noice", like... it makes the writer brain go !!!!!!💞

Hi, friends. I know I haven't posted in a long while, and that some of you in the creatives server may have already seen a version of this, but I just wanted to pop in and say that I know things are scary right now, that the world is on fucking fire and our rights and the rights and well-being of those we love are in danger, that our freedoms and our lives are in jeopardy, but I hope you all keep creating, that you create beautiful, wonderful, defiant art despite it. That you tell these bastards to shove it, that you let your light shine endlessly, BLINDINGLY, despite them-- hell, to *spite* them, even. That you continue to protest, to resist and love and bring great joy to others through your art, your stories, and your hearts.
They can't silence our voices, our screaming and our songs forever, so create art that cries with everything they sought to destroy, and tell them to go fuck themselves with every single beautiful note, brushstroke, and word you create in protest. I believe in you all, and I will always, ALWAYS, be in your corner, each and every one of you. Create defiantly, resistently, *catastrophically*, my friends, and know that I will as well.
You've got this, every single one of you. There is a light, a song, a story within you that I refuse to let you silence, that I refuse to let you bury, to let those bastards win. I will not let a single one of you make yourself more digestible, more readily consumable, to those who seek to destroy us. You are not a diet version of yourself, not something small and sweet and easy to swallow. Be as loud, as wild and riotous and *defiant* as you like. I will love you all endlessly, achingly, irreparably, because of it. Scream and cry and mourn and *grieve* this, be as vicious, as loud and as miserable as you like. But do so *for now*. Do not let them destroy you. Not like this.
Always and forever, unapologetically, be yourself, create your art. Do not let them ruin you, silence you. Someday, someone will write stories of you, sing great tales of your beautiful, resistent art. Someday, you will be someone's absolute favorite person, their hero, because of it. So if not for yourself, if not for me...create for them. Please.
And please, if you will, share with me the links to your songs, your art, your stories-- your beautiful, defiant, wonderful work, so that I may boost and consume and appreciate your lovely protest in the face of these monsters. Because, if nothing else, if nothing at all else, my loves, I believe in you. I always will.
And I know, despite what they may want, despite how you may crack and fracture and break here and now...that you will line your shattered pieces in gold, and glue yourself back together. That you will rise again, better and stronger and louder than you were before.
That, if nothing else, my friends, you will not fall here. Not ever. Not if I have anything to say about it.

Story Prompt 72
One day, a group of curious children ventured into the woods, their laughter echoing through the trees. Unbeknownst to them, they had stumbled upon someone's domain. It watched from the shadows, its eyes narrowed as it listened to their carefree chatter.
"Look at this creepy old place," one of the children remarked, poking at an abandoned cabin with a stick.
"Yeah, I bet that's where the monster lives," another replied, giggling nervously.
The creature bristled at the mention of the word "monster." It had grown accustomed to the fearful whispers, but hearing it spoken aloud ignited something deep within its chest.
"Don't paint me as a monster then act surprised when I finally bite," it murmured to itself, its voice a low growl that carried on the wind.
As the children continued to explore, they stumbled upon a hidden trapdoor concealed beneath a carpet of moss. With a mixture of excitement and trepidation, they pried it open, revealing a dark staircase leading into the depths below.
"Should we go down there?" one of the braver children asked, peering into the darkness.
"Why not? It'll be an adventure!" another exclaimed, already descending into the unknown.
The creature watched with growing unease as the children disappeared into the underground tunnels. It knew that they were in danger, but part of it relished the opportunity to prove them wrong about the monster they had painted it to be.
Deep within the labyrinthine passages, the children encountered all manner of obstacles. They faced twisting corridors, hidden traps, and eerie whispers that seemed to echo from the very walls themselves. But as they pressed onward, their fear began to give way to excitement, fueled by the thrill of the unknown.
Suddenly, they came upon a chamber bathed in a soft, ethereal light. At its center stood the creature, its form shrouded in shadow as it watched them approach.
"You shouldn't be here," it warned, its voice tinged with an otherworldly echo.
"We just wanted to see what's down here," one of the children replied, taking a step forward.
The creature's gaze softened as it looked upon the children before it. For the first time in a long while, it felt a flicker of something akin to warmth in its cold heart.
"Very well," it said, its voice gentler now. "But remember, not all monsters are as they seem."
With that, the creature vanished into the shadows, leaving the children to find their own way back to the surface.
