Arnhem Land Bamboo (Bambusa arnhemica) is one of the only three native Australian bamboo species. It occurs in the NW Northern Territory and usually grows on river banks. First Nation people use the stem to make their traditional musical instrument, the didgeridoo.

Today I saw a dried out creek, rock fern and necklace fern in the granite, a grass tree, and a geocache that I found on accident while hiding inside the boulders.

hi! Regarding your reblog about the Australian tree: we actually have a few of those in South Florida! Which coincidentally has a lot of opossums (which is the possum seen in the video), but I'm pretty sure they're all over the US (the possum, not sure about the tree). Its cool to finally learn more about that beautiful tree though!
When I think about it I'm not super surprised the bottlebrush has been picked up by the international nursery industry and imported to other countries; they're very pretty, come in many colours thanks to the local nursery industry, many varieties hedge well, and they're certainly popular with Australian nectar feeding birds, so presumably would be with other nectar feeding birds as well. It's just that I *hadn't* thought about it. And it was particularly funny because the opossum behaviour is very similar to brushtail possum behaviour which is what you'd usually see paired with it.
