"If you've come here to help me, you're wasting your time. But if you've come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." ~ Indigenous Australian Elder Lilla Watson "It's a long road we have come and it's a long road we can go. We have to walk together and talk together. If you never listen to me, I will never listen to you. I will not follow you. Walk side by side and let's get there." ~ Conrad Ratara, at a ceremonial handing back of ancestral lands to indigenous people in Australia

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-11/how-to-ethically-purchase-indigenous-art/12172210
This is an older article from 2020, but it still has some good tips for finding if an artwork you are looking to purchase is 1. sourced in a way that will benefit the artist and their community and 2. Is actually an indigenous artwork
Hey this is really really fucked up. Can we talk about this because holy shit

The Lacewings, all coloured and complete now. I could still do a little more, but to be honest I don't think I have any energy left.
The insects shown are:
Mantis Lacewing - Ditaxis meridiei
Blue-Eyes Lacewing - Nymphes myrmeleonoides
Angular-wing Lacewing - Periclystus circuiter
Pied Lacewing - Porismus strigatus
Yellow Owl-Fly - Suhpalacsa flavipes
The plant they are on is a blanket leaf - Bedfordia arborescens, which is native to the location that these lacewings are from. Lacewings are beneficial insects in the garden, predating on many insects we have issues with. They lay eggs on teeny tiny little long-lines, giving an impression of tiny rows of balloons.

Kisay Dhangal, 2016
Sculpture, bronze with mother-of-pearl inlay
194 202 × 102 cm, 280 kg
Australian National Maritime Museum 00054952
"Inscribed with traditional motifs and pearl shell, Kisay Dhangal reflects the life cycle and feeding patterns of the dhangal (dugong) in the Torres Strait Islands. The dhangal is captured in the position known as San Tidayk, in Kala Lagaw Ya language which marks the moment the mammal flips its tail to dive down and graze on the sea grass beds. A marine dust trail between the tail and figure of the moon emphasize how lunar cycles determine dugong feeding and mating habits."
