It's been estimated that 1 Billion animals have been killed, including kookaburras, wombats, kangaroos and countless other species. It's estimated that 1/3 of the koalas, around 8000 of them have been killed, by the fires, and their habitat is nearly completely destroyed. The heartbreaking photos of the Kangaroos holding each other in fear and running away from the fires, is something I'll never be able to forget. As of yesterday there are about 155 fires burning in NSW, 50 of which are uncontained. It's damaged or destroyed nearly 3,000 homes. "In southeast NSW and QLD, koalas are losing their homes and their lives. Across QLD’s Koala Coast, 80% of koalas have already been lost.
