CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW

Kovu Kagai is based on Kovu from The Lion King 2. He is a 22 year old shapeshifter, card dealer, and uses he/him pronouns. He has the power of shifting. Kovu is portrayed by Aubrey Joseph and he is open.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

The chosen one, Kovu was not Scar’s son. He was taken in after his parents abandoned him at six years old and raised to be his heir, holding all of the qualities Askari didn’t see in his own children. Life was tough banished to the outskirts of town, but he was spoiled compared to his siblings. Whatever he wanted, his adoptive mother Zira would break her back to get it to him, while they wouldn’t eat for two days if they didn’t figure it out for themselves. The blatant favoritism wasn’t his fault, but it did drive a wedge between the three of the kids that otherwise probably wouldn’t have been there. Still, they supported him because as far as their parents were concerned, he was the only chance to take back what was rightfully theirs, and they had a plan. One that had been in place since he joined their family. It sounded fairly easy on paper. Charm his way into Kiara’s heart, organize an attack from the inside, and the family would reign no more. And it was easy in the beginning. He’d practiced his whole life, rehearsed his lines, he knew what to do. But as he spent more time with Kiara, it seemed like she was the one winning him over, and he started to have his doubts about if he was working for the right side. He wasn’t sure how to tell her what was going on and he couldn’t talk to his family, so he continued to stall, insisting he just needed a little more time... and then came Evermore, like an answer to his silent prayers. He feared it wouldn’t last forever, but for now it lifted a weight from his shoulders, and it bought him enough time to figure out what he was going to do.

❀ Andy Davis: Andy and Kovu come from two different worlds, but an unlikely friendship blossomed between them over pizza, and Kovu is glad to have someone so genuine in his life for a change. ❀ Mavis Solas: He hides out in her hotel from time to time when he needs to get away from his siblings’ eyes or Kiara’s family. He appreciates that she doesn’t question him, as suspicious as he must seem. ❀ Edna Mode: She stares at him like she knows something. While he doesn’t think she even knows him, he can’t help but feel uneasy in her gaze, and tries to walk the other way when he sees her coming.

I’ve only seen this mentioned in one place, but as it’s What’s On Disney Plus, a usually reliable source, I’ll go with it. It seems another MCU series from a few years ago, Cloak and Dagger arrive on UK and Ireland Disney+ on July 12 (Wednesday). I was previously unaware of the show, but it seems, like the Netflix group which included Jessica Jones, to be one of those with mixed license history…
