My honest review and opinion on kalki 2898 AD movie;
I just watched the movie today and I do have a few opinions about this movie..
So, first of all, I'm ngl but i really love Amitabh bacchan sir's acting, He , as always was brilliant! Like he is above 80 but the way he carried himself as the role of aswatthama was brilliant!
I did love Kamal Hassan sir's acting even though his screen time was less, the makeup for me was kinda brilliant, and he's a phenomenal actor.
Deepika Padukone in her mother era! She's such a beauty! Like man how the hell is she so beautiful, like wow! Mother is mothering for me!
Saswata chatterjee sir, fellow bong, you were amazing even though I kinda didn't like the comedic thing that they added to Manas's character, but trust me, he was brilliant like always! But My parents did love the comedic thing tbh!
Okay, so Prabash, compared to Adipurush, here his acting and expressions did improve a lot for which he does deserve applause. But honestly, I didn't really like the character of Bhairava, honestly for me the comedic timings were really unnecessary. I mean, making him a tad bit serious would've done it tbh. His acting at some places was kinda stiff , but compared to Adipurush, it was great but still not at the Bahubali level.
Now regarding the movie in general:
The first half before the interval was confusing. I'm ngl but it took me some time to understand certain places and the comedy wasn't really necessary at certain places.
The second half does really picks up the pace , like the second half compared to the first was really better tbh.
I loved the part where they tried to bring every religion together and wanted to convey that every religion is similar to eachother was amazing!!!
Now mythology wise, being a mythology fan and a history nerd,
I hated how they made Arjuna look arrogant, like guys, Arjuna is described as a brilliant warrior, strategist with the kindest heart during that eta. It is often said, that arjuna was considered to be the most humane out of them all. And making him arrogant was not that great according to me.
And bringing karna there was totally unnecessary! His character was not needed! It was not all needed to bring karna back and give him a re-birth.
Aswatthama part I can understand, considering he was cursed to have immortality but still
I feel like they could've brought arjuna back tbh, because it is said that Krishna and Arjuna are parts of the same soul, so it would've done them good if they brought arjuna back to make him as Kalki's guide and friend instead!
And c'mon, the fact that they tried to portray that arjuna only won because of having gandiva, Krishna and Hanuman on his side is wrong. Like he was the greatest warrior of his generation, give him the credit! The respect that he deserves for his prowess!
And giving Gandiva to Kali?! Like if they wanted to add a celestial weapon, they could've added Sharanga, the bow of vishnu instead. Gandiva is not even related to Vishnu or his avatars . And it is said that only arjuna, Krishna and bhima could've lifted the bow, so how can kali lift it? I feel like they wanted to portray that , what would happen if a great power falls into the hands of the evil, but then use Sharanga bow instead of gandiva.
Nag Ashwin sir, even though I really like the action scenes, I feel like, it needs a bit more research on the mythological context.
This is my personal opinion so please respect it!

History, such a fickle thing. Tales of conquerors and the conquered, good and evil, where often, the conquered are ignored. The historical account of the Mahabharata, a great book written by the spiritual rishi, Ved Vyas, the incarnation of Narayan. Perfect by all accounts, or is it? What about the Kauravas and their associates? Duryodhan, Karn, Bhanumati, Vrushali, Gandhari, Dhritarashtra, Shakuni and Aswatthama and many more were ignored by Vyasadeva. Keshav, Kounteya and Krishna. Madhav, Mahanayak and Mahabharati were the main focus of the Mahabharata. In this book, however, I'll attempt to potray the Mahabharata through a different perspective.

Those who attain immortality in the body never die until the end of time, they roam the earth after their family and friends have long left it. Those who attain immortality in people's hearts however, their stories are loved, cherished, read and studied. Aranika is one such person who attained immortality in people's hearts. Her story began when @Akhila6002, the one who put her thoughts and turned it into a story, started writing. And I, evidently, started another book to continue her story. Aranika, the eldest princess of the great kingdom of Kosala who is a time traveler from 2052. She is a Vishnu ansh who got three boons from Vishnu dev. She is the one who can be present in 100 places at once, she who is the most pampered daughter of Shatrughan but a long buried secret for 6 years, that she is the blue skinned girl with a golden crown adorned witb peacock feathers, she is the one who entertains the eartlings with her melodious flute, is revealed to her when she was just 17! Little girl, big responsibilities Huh! But she needs to go through all this because she needs go experience the hard reality of this world to become the saviour. Moments in Aranika and the Raj Pariwar's day to day life are presented in the form of oneshots. Enjoy ! Cover Credits : @Akhila6002

What if our asshole listened to Krishna and kunti and headcanons for arjuna and karna hating each other but still fighting together.
If this had happened the war would have ended much earlier, like maybe 7 days?but the destruction, however, wouldn't would have been any less. The whole revealing and confronting had made someone like karna's heart weak, what would it do to arjuna? When the truth was revealed, it was yudhishthir that had mourned the most (i always felt that it was a little exaggerated) but Arjuna? he was shocked but quite until he finally opened his mouth only to ask yudhishtir to shut up, he tried to put some sense of artha and dand in him. Why? Imagine loosing (more like killing) your granddad, who had offered them shelter after the lose of their fater, your guru who had treated you no more or less than his own child, a son so dear to him, his other son and so many other. Don't you think a person will go numb after this much of grief? Maybe that's what happened to him. But now imagine this being told to him before such a feeling of sadness had already abandoned him, before he had become a heigher being, before Krishna had provided him the knowledge of gita, he would have been broken (this poor boi). That been said, let me provide you what a gem the pandavs would have been if karna was a part of the pandavs. However, i don’t think they would have hated each other so much after know what they were like,
Karna would drop him stubbornness to prove himself as the greatest archer. Why? would you really want to prove yourself better at something than your younger sibling?
Pandavs would have obviously won but the confidence of the kauravs would have reduced by like 1/4th. Resulting, Duryodhan would have been more frustrated and would be taking more dumb decisions. He had lost the person that would counter Arjuna, moreover, now he would need to counter 2 such ppl. He would probably just cry in Shakuni’s lap
Arjuna would have still needed the gita gyan (this boy is v soft and needs to be protected, now he has karna to do so).
Karna’s sons would probably also be killed by Ashwattama, so now they would need another heir for Indraprastha.
But wait
Karna would be the crowned king (being the eldest) and as Krishna had bribed him, Draupadi would be his wife. This is the part that i don’t find so pretty about this headcanon. The guy who insulted you is now your husband? In my head, I hope Karna would have rejected that part.(but it’s still debatable) (Karna x Draupadi shippers are not invited)
Karna and Arjuna would have been salty to each other at the start but then maybe at some time, alone preferably, they would have a heart to heart conversation, where karna would tell him that he no longer wanted to be the greatest archer in the world and that
“You, my little brother Arjuna, are the greatest archer this world will ever witness. Little brother, I am proud of”
To this Arjuna starts to cry and curses himself and then karna joins in and they both are just this cutie ball of crying mess. Krishna is watching them from a distance with a smile on his lips and tears in his eyes.
These two are inevitable.
And the purest bond ever.
Karna would have been a just ruler with yudhishthir as his prime advisor while Krishna is now gone to Dwarka to live his remaining life with his children and wives.
Oh and the curse
I have a feeling that Gandhari would have also cursed Karna because you see, he was Duryodhan’s support systems (they shared 2 brain cells, both of them belonging to Karna) and with him gone, Duryoudhan’s doom was waiting for him.
What’s interesting is how will she curse him? He already has two curses to work with.
Anyway I don’t want to end on sad note.
So Parikshit
This boy is gonna be THE GREATEST warrior ever, cause imagine being the son of Abhimanyu and then being thought by Arjuna and Karna themselves.
like dayum
I think he would die before the whole Swarga-Prasthan, like he will have 4 curses to catch up on.
And this will add upto the pandava’s grief
However
I think things would have been better if they had the shadow of Karna on them Rather than that of Yudhishthir.
There you go bb @1nsaankahanhai-bkr
@chaanv put some more gyan to this post?
@incorrectmahabharatquotes so maybe this gets exposed to more ppl. sorry im an attention hoe
Edit: because i have a very dumb and malfunctioning, mortal brain and also the fact that i had to attend a Calculus class in between writing this post, I forgot to add a few things so lemme just-
The war would have obviously suffer a huge impact on it due to the change in the density of power now.
I think Karna would have let the Pandavas handle the whole Bheeshma situation because they had a deeper connection and deeper emotions with the old man.
I also can’t see him interfering in the death of Drona.
I have a feeling that he would be responsible for keeping track of Ashwatthama but maybe not killing him. Krishna guessed everyone’s faith, I think he might have know what was to come from Ashwatthama too so he would have saved him for that, besides, it was Arjuna who had done penance to defeat an army containing someone who is a partial incarnation of lord Shiva himself. So I guess he would have helped tackle ppl like Drona and Bheeshma when they were still alive
oh and also the narayani sena
why is Narayani sena so underrated?
Coming to Abhimanyu’s death. With Karna gone, I think there would have been no one to counter Abhimayu’s young and fast moves. They would have injured him, sure, but end him? i don’t think so. Karna would have helped him, of course, but then again, Shakuni would have found a way to keep him away but for how long? Jayadrath would have been kept alive till the sunset and just as Arjuna would have showed up, a very injured Abhimanyu with a proud Karna on his side would have been waiting for him to finish off this asshole who was now lying on the ground and begging for mercy.
And did Abhimanyu survive? I don’t think so. He would have been slain in the silence of the night with his cousins. He would have still died a death caused by cheating.
Duryodhan’s Death would have been the most painful one for Karna. After all, they were such dear friends. I have a feeling that an injured Duryodhan, moments away from his death, would have refused to talk to Karna. Karna would have stayed at a very far distance, watching with mournful eyes what had become of his friend.
‘this wouldn’t would have happened if I had taken his side’
but then all the unjust and adharma would have flashed in front of his eyes almost at once. Krishna’s voice in his head, he couldn’t hear them, but he could feel it. The terror of realization.
and when he would look up again to see the person that caused it all, his sight would be blocked by a very grieve struck Ashwatthama, hunching over his dear friend’s almost lifeless body.
He could see Duryodhan whispering something to Aswatthama. Even from this distance one could see Ashwatthama trembling from anger and vengeance. You could almost see his aura go completely black
As Ashatthama left the, now lifeless, body of his childhood companion, he knew that it had been
His legs, however felt frozen from this still new sense of responsibility that he held of being elder to 5 pandavas now.
so he would kneel to the ground and weep.
If he wasn’t much broken already amidst the fractured sense of celebration that the pandavas had held in the air, he might have let a tear drop for his sons.
oh shit
sorry this just got really sad
anyway, I made some additions @1nsaankahanhai-bkr @chaanv@incorrectmahabharatquotes

@1nsaankahanhai-bkr replied to your post “What happened to the Pandavas & Draupadi's relation after the...”
Did pradyumna die in that quarrel too? And when did shikhandi and drishtdyum die? If in the war of kurushetra then who killed them?
Pradyumna died in that quarrel. Shikhandi, Dhrishtdyumna, and the Upapandavas were all murdered by Aswatthama, the night after the war ended, while they were sleeping in the camps. :(((

Soo... @i-am-not-okay--i-promise tagged me to do this, and it’s pretty controversial.
FYI, the one in bold is the one I choose....
Gnadhari / Kunti (Kunti was way to timid for me, and she also spoke without thinking loads of time. At least gandhari tried to do something)
Yudhishtir / Karna (I really hated him for not defending his own wife during the dice game bit where they took her clothes off, or tried to. Karna was great, but he joined the wrong side, and was too dedicated to duryodhan)
Arjun / Krishna (obvious. Krishna is king. The part where he made subhadra kidnap Arjun? Masterstroke. When he cursed aswatthama? Badass)
Drona / Kripacharya ( @i-am-not-okay--i-promise, here I agree with you. Drona was a bitch)
Jayatradh /Dushasan (I hate them both too much to pick)
Draupadi / Subhadra
Nakul / Sahadev
Bheem / Drishtdyum
Shikandin / Ekalavya (purely because he actually had the guts to spy on arjun’s sessions with drona)
Abhimanyu / Amba (I don’t think I need to explain myself here)
Ambalika / Ambika (dunno. I’ve got no knowledge on either to make a choice)
Vidur / Bhishma (Best. Lawyer. Ever. He’s the kind of guy who doesn’t need weapons to win anything. But then bhishma was like the world’s buffest grandaddy)
Parshuram / Vyas (parshuram is kind of like “however bad you are, I’m worse. You try anything, and I’ll blast your head off before you know it”)
Madri / Satyavati
Duryodhan / Ashwathama (he did destroy half the empire, but at least he showed remorse when dying.)
Uloopi / Chitrangadha (I barely heard/red one line about each of them in the whole epic)
Vichitraveer / Dhritrash (vichitraveer was a drunken fool. At least dritrash had his heart in the right place. Not that I’m saying he’s good)
Sanjay / Drupadh
Shakuni / Shalay (Oof he’s a lawyer to match vidur. But then I still remember in the star plus series how he tries to look respectful towards bhishma and krishna but ends up looking scared. But the diplomacy. Duryodhan always said his schemes were failing, but the grand plan to bring down hastinapur was a big fat success)
Ghatotkach / yuyustu / satyaki (He was a good son to bheem)
Vikarna / yuyustu (at least he tried to stop them stripping her)
Dushala / Uttara (Yes, @i-am-not-okay--i-promise, she did deserve better)
I’m tagging anybody who wants to do this.

Karna – Does god ask for the name of the father before delivering knowledge to someone? I have a question for you – who is that young man? (pointing towards Aswathhama)
Dronacharya – He is my son, Aswathhama.
Karna – He is the son of a Brahmin, and neither a Prince, nor a warrior. But he is still in your school. It is fine that you don’t want to teach me. I will seek another mentor.
Karna departs but Aswathhama takes note of this incident and follows him. He observes Karna practicing and is impressed by his archery skills. That point onwards, Aswathhama realizes that this is not an ordinary boy and he could clearly see how partial his father is towards protecting and securing the future of his beloved student Arjuna. He tells Karna,
"Don’t get disheartened my friend- “
Aswatthama and Duryodhana, two of Karna’s closest friends were different as individuals yet in harmony in their choice of Karna as a friend. Aswathhama was the only person, besides Duryodhana who openly acknowledged Karna’s greatness as the finest archer, far superior to the supposedly insurpassable Arjuna. “

Ok consider this: Once Arthur returns and does whatever he was brought back for (ensuring Merlin knows that he is loved and important) he and Merlin both age (because immortality makes me think of the end of time and that way lies existential crises) and are granted an eternity of happiness in Avalon (like Patroclus and Achilles) look who is in a TSOA mood.
Also, I will give you my train of thoughts regarding this post because you might understand: I was thinking of Mahabharata yesterday or more specifically, the different forms of immortality there. And how Aswatthama's immortality was predominantly a curse. Now Merlin and him are worlds apart but somehow one thing led to another and this happened.
What's worse: being immortal and waiting for someone to return (and not knowing when he will return or even if he will return and probably slowly losing hope) or having that person back and being forced to watch him die once again and know this time he won't be back again, and yet remain immortal? Or, is it worse to never have him back or have him back and lose him again?
#merlin lives rent free in my brain always#so not much of a surprise#also on the same note#bhishma#and his capability to die if and only if he wants to#what if Merlin's immortality worked like that#bye again#bbc merlin
