Yesterday I lied down to meditate and immediately this image popped into my mind. It was a giant neon tower shining above a cyclopian cyberpunk city. It's probably Neonoko city, it's a place from my dream world, somewhere in between Tokyo and New York, strangely surreal and populated by aliens.

ASTRAL PROJECTION: A JOURNEY OUTSIDE THE BODY

Astral projection, also known as an out-of-body experience, is a phenomenon where a person feels that their consciousness or "soul" temporarily separates from their physical body and travels through different dimensions or planes. This phenomenon has been described in various ways across cultures around the world and is a recurring theme in spirituality and esotericism.

According to those who practice or believe in astral projection, humans have a dual nature: the physical body and the astral body, which is a more subtle form of energy that accompanies the physical body. During astral projection, this astral body detaches from the physical body, allowing the person to explore other places, dimensions, or realities beyond the material world.

The Man Who Astral Projected In The Wrong Direction

What is Astral Travel

Astral Travel is often associated with the New Age movement, but has in-fact been around for thousands of years, dating back to Ancient China.

In-fact all of us leave our bodies during the night when we sleep, leaving just enough of our soul essence behind to keep our soul connected to our physical body to keep us alive and functioning.

OBE - out-of-body experiences, Astral Travel, Astral Projection can be achieved while awake or through lucid dreaming, deep meditation, or use of psychotropics.

In short, astral travel is the art or science of travelling outside of the body to obtain information. When free of the dense physical body we can expand our consciousness and awareness way beyond the limits of our physical being, giving us a powerful sense of freedom.

The Altar in Your Mind

This is a concept that's very near and dear to my heart. Errr... my mind. I've always loved the concept that you can have sacred space in your mind that you can do spellwork or ritual from. There's no reason you can't build an altar that you use for all of your magickal needs. And the best part? You don't have to go out and buy black candles or the perfect stones or herbs, because everything you need is RIGHT THERE. This does, however, require a lot of visualization and imagination, and a strong background in meditation helps. So how do you get started building an altar in your mind? All of that that I just said. First, you need to be able to go into a meditative, creative state. Then, start building the altar of your dreams. Is it made of stone or wood? Is it an antique desk or a clearing in the woods? What kind of objects are on the surface? Are there drawers underneath? What kind of objects are in the drawers? Do you have other storage around, or do things pop into your hand as soon as you think of them? Once you've spent some time thinking about these things, you can start to build your environment around your altar. Is the altar inside or outside? What do your surroundings look like? Eventually, you can build an entire world around your altar once you've gotten the hang of visualizing your sacred space. You can even use your sacred space as your home base for meditations and astral travel. Start there, prepare yourself, and go! I've done a lot of exploration from my sacred space, and I find it invaluable for centering myself before I venture into the unknown. Just remember, the more you visualize the space and spend time there, the more concrete those details will become for you. This doesn't mean that you can't make changes later, but eventually you will get to the point that you know this space like the back of your hand. You can even keep servitors there to help you with background magickal work on the mental plane! Create sigils and protections to place around your space and treat it just like you would any other sacred space. Cleanse it regularly and visit your spellwork regularly to add energy to it.
