End of Agent: Time’s Up
There was no avoiding this meeting. The Astral Agency was out of gil. What was coming could not be avoided.  The only thing Sarij could do was try to preserve the future for the members of the company, and to do that he was going to host two meetings. The first would be with the command staff of the company so that the second with the entire company would not be as chaotic since the command staff would all be on the same page.
Thankfully, Reks Blanc, Berrod Armstrong, Sergei Harlenk, and Cerina Borlaaq all were in attendance. Sarij began the meeting with the heavy blow of, “The company is going to be closed in two sennights.” He continued by explaining that as things were the future of the members, even if they were not under the same banner was in jeopardy. Iron jaw cleaned up his loose ends and the Agents were loose ends. It would not happen immediately, but every member would be marked by the Spinner’s Shears after the company closed.
Cerina accused Sarij of giving up and demanded he step down if he no longer could carry the burden of leadership. She pointed out quite a few matters with her usual tempered fury, but Sarij quickly alleviated her fears by informing her that the reason he was calling the meeting was to inform the leaders and then the company, the Astral Agency was going to commit treason by attacking an Immortal Flames’ Base and killing Iron Jaw.
Sergei, being a member of the Immortal Flames, was torn, but after Sarij’s assurances that the only Immortal Flames that was to die was Iron Jaw, and that the company would go out of their way to avoid causing serious harm or death to other soldiers, Sergei agreed and began to confer with Reks on methods of non-lethal takedowns of soldiers. Meanwhile Cerina and Berrod differed with Sarij on matters of loyalty.
Sarij presented that he was going to give every member a chance to back out of the company while the company committed treason, so that they would not be caught up the the arrest and trials. Both Cerina and Berrod agreed with that, but what they did not agree with was that Sarij intended to let folks know if the company somehow still existed after the dust settled, all would be welcome back without guilt or shame even if they crossed their name off in the book. The three of them discussed the matter for a short while, Cerina and Berrod valued loyalty over preserving the future for all. They would not fight for someone who would not support the company. Sarij took a stance of:  he did not ask if he could have the company commit treason so he could not hold those who stepped away at fault. In the end Sarij relented to the other two directors of the company and made an announcement on the pearl.
"This is Director Sarij Rahzersyn, may I have the attention of all members of the company?"
"Before the meeting today, there is something that must be addressed. The matters of the meeting will stray into territory that will lead to arrests, gaols, and perhaps death. However, while I did not ask any of ya if we should go in that direction, I will give ya the choice to walk that path.”
“If any of ya are not willing to risk everything, including freedom ya may scratch yer name out of the book at the front of the estate. Ya will be blameless fer the what is to come, and /I/ will not hold anything against ya if ya choose that route. Ya must preserve yer future, even it ain't with us.
Should ya choose tah leave yer name in the book, please come tah the sparring room for the meeting."
"Thank-ya."
Tumblr media
The sparring room quickly filled up with members of the company. On top of the command staff there was Dylan Skye, Milo North, Avieno Naemig, N’hara Tia, Kitakaze Mugenkgami, Releval Outtlaw, Autgar Bloode, Crooked Tarot, Garyn Almos, Kairun Gallek, and Balthius Stark.
Despite the tone of Sarij’s call on the pearl, the majority of the group was almost jovial seeing everyone gathered up together as such. Even after Sarij mentioned the matter of committing treason, much of it was almost laughed off, except by Crooked who quickly tried to throw together a plan to frame Iron Jaw with false evidence and false testimony. His argument gain some traction before it was stopped by the command staff with a dose of cold reality: there was no time and Iron Jaw would not just sit around letting them frame him. Crooked took his leave from the room for some time before later returning to the room.
When the fact the Agent’s goal was to kill Iron Jaw finally was brought up, more protest was raised. Garyn and others believed it was the wrong way, and that the company would just become like the Spinner’s Shears. Kitakaze and others raised point that there was no solid proof that the Spinner’s Shears would not kill them even with Iron Jaw dead, as well as there was no solid proof that Iron Jaw was the top of the conspiracy.
Once again, the problem was time. They knew Iron Jaw was working to try to get a seat on the Syndicate by taking control of Free Companies to build his wealth, and Everret Black, the leader of the Spinner’s Shears cell Iron Jaw had hired, claimed that their contract with Iron Jaw was completed. Neither were rock solid refutations of the concerns brought up in the meeting, but because of lack of time… they had to act on the assumption alone.
Eventually, Sarij was able to bring up the actual plan of attack.
Tumblr media
Before the attack a smaller team would set up pearl disruptors around Camp Bluefog and attach a device to the Aetheryte there to temporarily remove it from the aetheryte network. Then the primary attack would have to occur within a few suns to prevent the devices from being discovered.
The Agents would meet at the abandoned mine in Northern Thanalan. From there Sarij and a few others would go to the south to attack the watchtowers and keep forces from the Ceruleum Processing Plant busy while the main force looped around the watchtowers to attack Camp Bluefog. The moment the Agents approach the camp, they would activate the disruptors to prevent communication and additional forces from engaging them. There would be a very short window to kill Iron jaw,
Once Iron Jaw was killed, the Agents were to surrender themselves to the Immortal Flames without a fight. Given that they did not kill any other soldiers they would have an advantage when on trial.
Tumblr media
Naturally, a few of the Agents in the meeting were less than keen on the idea of being arrested. Milo and Autgar suggested disappearing until the whole matter blew over. Aveino interjected to remark it would look better if the entire company surrendered rather than some bolting and becoming wanted. Sarij and Berrod reaffirmed Avenio’s statement along with treason not something that ‘blows over,’ and much of the company came to terms with the fact they would at least spend a night in the gaol.
Slowly the Agents filtered out of the sparring room to ready themselves for the troubles ahead. In the end Sarij and Berrod were the last in the room to discuss what future Sarij had forced upon the company until they too left the estate.

End of Agent: Trial of Balthius Stark
Balthius Stark was the last of the Agents still in custody since the four arrests by Iron Jaw many sennights ago. His crimes could not be nudged away by Mountain’s Shadows influence within the Immortal Flames due to him being being charged by Maelstrom Command for assisting rogue elements in sabotage and assassination of Captain Bloodied Heart. Thankfully, since Astral Agency was an Immortal Flames company the case would be handled by the Eorzean Alliance courts rather than directly by the Maelstrom.
Judge Burnt Ash presided over the case and Maelstrom Command had already presented their case the day before Gideon arrived to argue for Balthius’ innocence. Berrod Armstrong and Milo North also were in attendance to see what would become of their friend. The case also would set the precedence for a further case the Maelstrom was fighting for: charges that the Astral Agency was directly involved in the sabotage and assassination of Captain Bloodied Heart.
Gideon argued that Balthius could not have been involved in with the ‘rogue elements’ because the man was occupied by another leve, working for a dung farmer named Bartu. Thankfully, Bartu was in the courtroom to testify. However, Lurial had convinced the dung farmer to make this false testimony complete with an absurd act of being filthy and somewhat mad. (A complete departure from his usual sterile appearance and proper personality.) After a rousing defense of Balthius’ willingness to dive into piles of dung to help him harvest only the best to be resold to farmers and giving Gideon a leve ticket to prove the existence of the job, Judge Burnt Ash withdrew to decide on a verdict for the case.
A quarter bell later the court rose at the judge’s return. He found the defendant Balthius Stark neither innocent nor guilty, citing that neither side possessed enough evidence to establish a solid verdict. Balthius Stark would be freed from gaol until more evidence was brought to the court or until the charges were dropped. The man would be expected to turn himself in should a second trial be needed.
Gideon thanked the judge before conferring with Berrod about trying not to get anyone else arrested.

End of Agent: Now What?
The Astral Agency now knew who was behind the conspiracy against the Agency. They also gained valuable intelligence to help their comrades arrested by the Grand Companies.
Through that information Viktor was released by a blond haired, dark skinned Highlander named Everett Black; a man claiming to be the former Blade of Blutvyse and present member of the Ala Mhigan resistance. Gideon and Lurial remained working on presenting a proper case for Balthius’s trial with the Maelstrom.
However all of this left the Agents with the question of “Now What?” They had zero evidence to present to anyone above the Flame Marshal as to his actions or even any direct proof that he hired the Spinners’ Shears. Sarij gathered the Agents to try to answer that question and start them down the path to getting evidence they needed.
Milo, Autgar, Crooked, Garyn, Reks, Viktor, Khaisan, Avenio, T’dras, and a couple unexpected faces of Sterrbhar and Erioch showed up to the meeting with Sarij. However, the most startling visitor was Berrod fresh out of the gaol. Once the shock of his presence ended, the officially dead ex-director began the meeting.
In order to catch everyone up, Sarij reviewed the the entire affair since his own arrest several sennights prior. Explaining how Iron Jaw had tipped them off to the start of the company’s downfall as well as leading them to the Broker. He also elaborated on the Broker’s revelations after they completed his tasks. The Broker was neutral despite previous assumptions. Once the topic of the Spinner’s Shears came up, Rahzersyn handed the floor over to Avenio who briefly explained what the Broker had given them.
Eventually the topic of Berrod and Cernia’s arrest… and namely Berrod’s presence was raised. Sarij explained that upon learning Iron Jaw was the force behind the arrests, he was forced to make a deal with Mountain’s Shadow to get those members of the company under Iron Jaw’s authority in the gaols out of his clutches. It was only a matter of time before Iron Jaw would take more direct actions against the Agency, and Sarij did not want him to have hostages. The deal merely was clearing Mountain’s ledger with the actual company… and not the people. Naturally, no one was pleased the with deal but after some fiery discussion the meeting moved onward.
Once the review was completed, Sarij laid out the direction he believed that would help the company. The ultimate goal was linking Iron Jaw with the Spinner’s Shears. If they could provide solid evidence on that connection, his reputation would be tarnished beyond repair due to the hundreds of lives taken. Anything he attempted to present to destroy the Agents would then could be branded as falsified or creation of a conspiracy. Iron Jaw likely would be courtmarshaled, gaoled, or even executed.
The problem was, Agents had no links other than the Spinner’s Shears seeming to clean up loose threads. Nearly the entire Golden Dawn’s company was massacred after agreeing to help investigate into who set up both Agents and them, but there was nothing but a verbal contract. Two pirates were murdered after Viktor acquired the map to the Broker’s Archive, but since both men were wanted the investigation was half hearted. The Agents required information.
Sergei Harlenk, while absent from the meeting until the very end, had prodded his sources within the Immortal Flames. He discovered that Iron Jaw slowly had begun purging corrupt officers and soldiers from the Grand Company, but unfortunately everything was being done by the books, but Sergei would continue to investigate. Crooked offered to man the investigation into Iron Jaw’s external connections and finances.
Avenio set himself up to lead a more active investigation into the Spinner’s Shears. He would target what lines of gil he could track down and attempt to cripple the sprawling organization and acquire information from what cells the shut down. The Highlander called upon anyone more interested in an active… noisy approach to get into contact with him.
Sterrbhar offered to use his Maelstrom contacts to see what he could find out about Balthius’s continued incarceration as well as look into how the Maelstrom got the false report about Sarij which led to his arrest and ‘execution.’  Erioch expressed his willingness to look into why Cerina remained in a gaol while Berrod was released.
When the survivors of the Spinner’s Shears were mentioned, Reks remarked that Autgar and he would be the best to meet with them as Barais and Jessie should be more cooperative with those pair because they did save them.
A final matter was raised regarding a structure that Sarij had purchased nearby but was unable to ever get into. When three of the Agents succeeding in bypassing the particularly stubborn door, they instead were teleported to what later was discovered to be some sort of chamber belonging to the Broker.  The Broker was neutral, but made it clear he does not violate the contracts he had made. Sarij desired to figure out what was inside of the house, either to confirm it as a red herring or prevent something from happening under their noses. Garyn, who had been trying to figure out what was going on with that building, set up a job post for anyone who wanted to help.
The Astral Agents only had a limited time before Iron Jaw would figure out they were attempting to flank his actions, and they were going to make sure they used that window get one step ahead of him.

It All Comes Home
The Astral Agency were milling about their estate in relative peace. The plans were underway for dealing with the Broker’s deal and each group having their own objectives to deal with the growing problems with the Agents being set up by the mysterious group trying to bring the Astral Agency down. Unfortunately, whomever was attempting to end the Agents did not leave them to their own devices.
The doors to Astral Place were kicked in by an Immortal Flames contingent under the leadership of Iron Jaw. The presence of Iron Jaw and the explosive entrance took the Agents by surprise, considering Iron Jaw had been working with them to undermine the underhanded actions by whomever had it out for Agents. After some very heated words lobbed at the Immortal Flames and Grand Companies in general, Flame Marshal Iron Jaw presented the four reasons he was at the Agent estate with an armed escort.
Four Arrests.
Balthius Stark was charged with assisting terrorists with the damaging of the Lady Dawn and assassination of Captain Bloodied Heart. At first he feigned ignorance as to who this /Balthius/ was, but Berrod interceded and encouraged him to turn himself in. Reluctantly Balthius was cuffed and set aside.
Viktor Harlenk, who was absent for the moment, was charged with the murder of Black Knife and Deadly Tiger and for being a member of the assassination guild ‘Spinner’s Shears.’ Sergei Harlenk nearly lost his cool as his spouse was accused of crimes he was certain Viktor did not commit. Iron Jaw required assurances from Reks Blanc or Sergei Harlenk that they would have Viktor turn himself in to the Hall of the Flames. Though, that ended up being unnecessary as Iron Jaw caught Viktor returning to Ul’dah at the airship landing a bell later.
The final two arrests were for Cerina Borlaaq and Berrod Armstrong for summoning a primal, concealing a primal, suspicion of being tempered, consorting with active Garlean agents, and housing voidsent.  Immediately the all of the gathered Agents protested and some even threatened violence. Flame Marshal gave the Astral Agents a stack of evidence against the company. The documents almost were a play by play of the history of the questionable activities Agents had in the past.
Tempers boiled to a near explosive level, but Berrod and Cerina ended up surrendering themselves over the Immortal Flames and were marched out of the company. Before he departed, Iron Jaw warned the Astral Agents that he would only be able to delay trials for so long. The arrested parties would be found guilty unless the Agents were able provide some counter evidence, but he would do his best to create as much red tape as he could to slow down the process.
Tumblr media
Once he left the Agents quickly attempted to reorganize authority so that they could manage the company going forward without Cerina or Berrod. Lurial, Reks, and Sergei attempted to create a plan. Crooked Tarot led scouring the estate for bugs or moles. Most of the Agents also turned in their pearls out of fear of them being tampered with but Broker’s suspected operatives.
However, the Broker cares not for the Agents; current situation and expects their answer soon.

I Deal in Information, Nothing More.
While the Agents were looking for and acting on more physical methods of gaining information on the Information Broker, Lurial Vashir acted on her more accustomed turf, digging up dirt and trading information. Her own experience in the field put her at better footing dealing than most with the enigmatic Broker, but just prodding a few sources resulted in her receiving a letter with a scheduled man himself.
That meeting, however, took place a sun after the nigh disaster in the Broker’s archive that almost claimed most of the Astral Agency’s leadership lives, leaving the first note of their meeting rather sour.
Lurial inquired on the cost in gil of information regarding the Broker’s client attempting to destroy the Astral Agency, but the Broker merely swatted the idea aside claiming she did not possess the amount of gil needed because that information was bought with its own information. The two sparred with careful words for some time until it became clear neither one could gain an edge of the negotiation or reveal anything unexpected.
The Broker, unfortunately, still had one piece that put Lurial’s ‘account’ unbalanced. The Agents had stolen something of his, and would not do business while that remained the case. Eventually, he offered her a deal. The Broker would provide the information Lurial desired, if the Agents returned his Tomestone and agreed to some matter of his interest. The crux, however, was that the Broker would not explain the matter until the Agents agreed to it, and should they back out of the deal after agreeing no information would be provided.
The meeting ended with Lurial with the professional promise of an Information Broker that the Broker was not lying about his deal, and that she would have to sell the Agents this transaction. Should the Agents agree, he would contact her. He left her with the repeated phrase that he had no vested interest if the Agents fell or survived. Astral Agency will be ashes, the Immortal Flames will ashes, but he will remain. “I deal in information, nothing more.”

End of Agent: Librarian is Out
After having to deal with the fallout of Sarij being arrested and assumed executed by Maelstrom forces, the Agents refocused onto the problem with the Information Broker giving damning documents to the Immortal Flames that would cause the Agents to be permanently shut down. Viktor Harlenk, Lurial Vashir, and Crooked Tarot spearheaded the plans. Crooked and Lurial attempted to discount some of the documents as hearsay and unsubstantiated rumors but mimicking some of the reports as simple pranks or new fashion movements. Viktor ended up attempting some espionage on the Information Broker, by masquerading as a Golden Saucer Attendant watching over the drinking needs of the Broker. After some time he was able to tail some disgruntled customers of the famed broker and managed to acquire some intelligence of on the man’s data archives. The two Roegadyn he was able to convince to offer it him, unfortunately ended up killed by an assassin guild known as Spinner’s Shears.
Berrod Armstrong passed the map and information Viktor brought in to Crooked Tarot. The Highlander quickly scouted out the unusual temple deep in Gyr Abania. It was dressed up to look identical to another Temple to Rhalgr, but much of the temple seemed to behind a rather imposing door. Rather than trip any unseen traps, Crooked Tarot relayed the information back to Astral Agency and hunkered down to wait for a more equipped team.
A few suns later, officially dead former director, Sarij Rahzersyn offered a brief meeting for several agents before being ushered off back to Ala Mhigo by Cerina. Cerina, Balthius Stark, Kitakaze, Reks Blanc, Tiranae, and Autgar Bloode met up with Crooked Tarot, Milo North, Berrod Armstrong, and Garyn at the foot of a temple and after a second briefing made their way into the structure.
The door seemed to be a dangerous puzzle and the Agents were rightfully cautious until Garyn knocked. Alarms triggered and a machine by the name “Eye Mark IV” served as the defensive measures. The defense measure proved to be more than a simple matter, first as it seemed to possess information about the Agents that were closely guarded secrets and as Cernia, Reks, and to the lesser extent other Agents were sliced open with its adaptive armaments. Berrod Armstrong, however, received the most intense damage suffering what the machine called “Final Heaven Protocol.” Despite their director being a smoking body on the ground, the Agents  were able to put the machine down before it could complete a protocol designed to wipe them all out.
Cerina and Reks were returned to Astral Agency to have their injures dealt with, but were unable to regain consciousness for many bells. Berrod Armstrong was taken to Rhalgr’s Reach for more intensive care as teleporting was out of the question. Aiouxdaux Beaumont assisted in the onsite mending and transfer of wounded.  Crooked Tarot, after ensuring the wounded were tended and the dying were stabilized, had Balthius retrieve whatever was behind the door and led the group out of the temple before any new defenses could activate.
He was not pleased that all that was behind was an Allagan Tomestone, and met with Sarij to discuss the next step. Sarij suggested taking some simple jobs while they figured out what the safest direction would be and give the wounded time to recover.
