claudia is also fat and knows she's hot for it. maria starts off fat but once she's in monteriggioni she starts dropping frightening amounts of weight to show how little she's taking care of herself. ezio burns a couple pounds over the first couple years of being an assassin despite how well he still eats and he sees that as a frightening and unpleasant change that drives home how his old life is over and he's turning into something else. do you see my vision

let me preface this post by saying i'm a lesbian so you know i have no ulterior motive saying this. but i think ezio should be a little fatter. there should be some softness layered on top of the parkouring muscles. having that perfect 100%-lean-meat body without the slightest bit of padding may have been a highly desirable flex circa 2009/2010, but that's a laborer body in renaissance italy... it requires dehydration and limited caloric intake. meanwhile, ezio is first and foremost a rich bitch, ergo, he should be eating and drinking well enough that his abs are no longer visible 🍖 🥂

ezio needs to monologue forlornly to somebody about how hard he's been working and how tough his life is, and then the camera just follows their eye down to where an obvious muffin-top is poking out above the waistline of ezio's leggings, and then they just go uh huh yeah i'm sure occasionally going without a whole roast pheasant for breakfast must be very emotionally taxing on you, poor thing.

and crucially the fatness is seen as making him even sexier because of that association with wealth and status, same way he has lace and cloth-of-gold accents on his robes and whatnot... NONE of those 2000s diet-culture fat jokes. leo wants to make ezio's love handles live up to their name. who said that

I'll never get around to the regurgitated talking point that AC3 somehow went "too far" with Connor being involved in major historical events. And it's like… do we not remember Ezio?

The same man that air assassinated the Pope during mass, ended the siege of Forlì, singlehandedly stopped the Bonfire of the Vanities, neighbored and was best friends with Leonardo da Vinci, bumped fists with the Medici, saved Copernicus, sponsored and met Christopher Columbus at a party, killed the Doge of Venice, seduced Lucrezia, killed Cesare Borgia, destroyed Istanbul’s Great Chain, talked to the Ottoman Sultan, and somehow even had a hand in creating coffee. That's not even getting into Altair having an entire philosophical escapade with Richard the Lionheart about the human condition in the middle of a battlefield, or Edward somehow being casual best buds or acquaintances with nearly every famous pirate at the time.

Point is -- Assassin’s Creed has always been about stuffing the protagonist into every major event of their era like a parkour-flavored Forrest Gump. That’s the entire point. So, acting like Connor showing up at Valley Forge or being at the signing of the Declaration of Independence is some great departure from the formula is just goofy.

Yeah, Connor was neck-deep in the American Revolution. So what? That was part of the fun, the fantasy, the whole appeal of the series. If anything, it’s when the newer games pulled back from that approach that Assassin’s Creed started to feel a lot less memorable.
