Huang Shaotian, especially, seems to have made it his mission to figure out who, exactly, Wang Jiexi is messaging so often. And with that little smile, what the fuck. He’s met Wang Jiexi’s siblings at least once, and he’s pretty sure it’s not them. Or Fang-stupid-Shiqian, for that matter. ALSO, and this is far more important,,, Huang Shaotian has long considered himself one of Wang Jiexi’s good friends, alright? And, honestly? He’s frankly offended by the idea that Wang Jiexi might be dating someone without having let Huang Shaotian vet them first. What if Wang Jiexi has picked a total creeper?! Or a complete loser?! What if! What if! Everyone knows Huang Shaotian has the best taste in people, okay! Like, the empirically and obviously best taste! So, yeah, duh—it’s only natural that his friends should know better than to try dating anyone without having had Huang Shaotian give his tick of approval first. GEEZ.

I do have a next gen DC cannon, it's quite lengthy and I have been going through some creative changes lately so you're actually on time for the soft reboot I've been toying with in my head today!

So starting it all would be the team forming and later a time Skip to a big reveal for the team about one of their co leaders.

The team comes from main DC cannon (I love the shows but the comics is where all the potential is for this)

Co leaders Damian Wayne and Lian Harper.

The resident experts on science and sass twins jai and irey West.

The only woman to tell guy gardener to shut up and have him listen green lantern milagro reyes.

The lastest Kryptonian who attached himself to a bat for friendship Jon Kent.

The myth, the legend, the animal girl. Maxine Baker. (we call her max for our own safety)

The only Atlantian who's almost never actually seen in water Artur Curry jr. (AJ)

The man who looked scarecrow in eyes and said he had better toxin from Riddler Colin wilkes.

ok so while I 100% agree that Elphaba's sex/gender identity can be read all sorts of ways, and while I, too, miss a lot of the novel's depth in the musical, promising people textual intersex representation in the book seems a bit wrong to me?

Mind, I'm not intersex myself and I apologise if I'm misreading something either in this post or the book. I do, however, know the book pretty damn well, and am kinda in the process of writing a paper on, amongst other things, gender identity in Wicked, and have relevant quotes:

I'm guessing this is the scene in question, and while it certainly sets the theme of gender ambiguity throughout the novel, the text does imply that once she's cleaned up, no one sees any reason to question Elphaba's gender. Which is further cemented a few pages later:

This is Nanny's observation when she first meets and examines the baby, and pretty much implies that there is nothing about Elphaba's genitals that points towards her being intersex.

I'm all for people reading the book (it's brilliant), and I'm certainly not disagreeing at all with the claim that there's all sorts of queer-coding and gender ambiguity in it especially with regards to Elphaba, but if people are looking for an Elphaba who is textually intersex, I'm pretty sure they'll be disappointed.

Elphaba Thropp was canonically born with ambiguous genitals in the original Wicked novel, and assigned female after an inspection by the midwife. This didn't make it into the musical version, but it is very much a thing in the book.

I've seen a few "Elphie is trans-coded" posts, and as a trans intersex person, I just wanted to remind folks that she is intersex in the source material. The book's prologue includes blatant speculation about her gender from other characters, and she gets called the intersexist h-slur.

My mother, who is deeply Christian and(but) also supremely autistic, once accidentally pulled aggro on an entire church's worth of women because they were so aggressively demanding she condemn my newly pierced ears. Against God's design!!! they wailed. Then how come you all shave your legs?, my mother asked.

On the bright side, I had to suffer through significantly fewer church-based social invites after that.

The idea that bodymod of all kinds from piercings and tattoos to gender-affirming care and amputations "goes against God's design" is such a fragile fucking take imo.

Greatly afeared that I am coming down with something nasty (thank you, spouse's work christmas party, what a gift, etc). Madly banging out the non-fandom project I have a deadline on, but honestly I just want to spend the rest of the day in bed. may I also point towards the concept of compound nouns according to which "dwarf planet" counts as one noun rather than a combination of adjective and noun

the thing is that whenever someone says "pluto IS a planet" you don't know if they're actually a space fan who is prepared to love and cherish all the other bodies that would become planets if pluto was promoted again or the dumbest motherfucker on earth who thinks science should have stopped when they left 3rd grade
