Gen, 400 words (exactly! yay me!) Fandoms: Sherlock BBC & Cabin Pressure

Technically a follow-on from yesterday's ficlet, though it is very much not necessary to read that first. But if you were wondering what was happening on the other side of the airport... here you go!

It had been three hours of non-stop rain. The little charter plane was out of power, out of alcohol, out of packaged peanuts, out of everything that was not Surprising Rice or—and this was worse, which was possibly even more surprising than the rice—boiled haddock. “I mean, it’s not so bad!” says Arthur cheerfully. “The rain has to let up sometime, it always does. This is a hard one to start off with. He's flown around the world and lets face it ...what culinary delights can compete with "Fizzy Yogurt"? I feel the need to create a meal to honor that achievement alone! I'm thinking an amalgamation of the travelling lemon, surprising rice, fish cakes and pineapple juice. Homely but a little out there-just like Arthur.

MAIN

*lemon butter sauce*

*Pan fried lemon sole in panko breadcrumbs*

*Polenta roast potatoes*

DRINKS

*strwwwbwwerry elderflower cordial with sparkling water*(Epi-pen on standby don't worry.)

PUDDING

*Creamy rice pudding....topped with grated toblerone*

All in all a bit of a random combination. After typing the post out I just realized how apt the band name "the Lovin' Spoonful" is for this situation!

I would hope Arthur would dig in happily and could only wish for a verdict of "Brilliant!

Love the things Cabin Pressure left to the listeners’ imagination:

Arthur’s steward hat that he made himself. The only clue being the small thud from the one time he dropped it.

Martin’s captain’s hat and wether it really was just a standard captain’s hat or ridiculously ornate.

That guy (forgot his name) who made “brilliant impressions of fruit”. How does one imitate a conference pear?

Arthur Shappey Moment

A month or so ago I went to a party with a few close friends who naturally were drinking alcohol. Personally I don't drink but in my quest to discover a non-alcoholic and non-just-plain-old-water-beverage I find in the fridge door none other than many glorious cartons of...

pineapple juice!

So whilst enjoying this distinctly arthur-ish moment and pondering the dames and the horses I thought to myself, had I drank the Peach Schnapps in the fridge (yes there really was some) would I have also become a Gremlins gremlin? Maybe I'll develop an allergy to strawberries? Or suddenly become half-Australian! Who knows?

Alas perhaps my Arthurian transformation is limited only to the consumption of delicious tropical beverages. Either way... his really rather overbearingly joyous outlook on life did rub off on me that night so I have to thank John Finnemore for bringing back a memory of that truly delightful character.

Brilliant!
