hi anon!! i’m doing very well, happy valentine’s day :D

this is a great question! i talked about it in this curiouscat, but i’ll elaborate on some more of the details in this ask. for context, all of this happened about three years before the present time, which is when you meet artemis.

artemis moved away from their hometown three years after they graduated high school, so they were 21. they lived in a studio apartment for a while (one that they mention briefly when you ask them about the artehouse). they scraped by doing the artemis things that they do, kind of unhappy, but determined to keep themself from moving back home. because they didn’t have a car and never really felt like hauling ass all the way to the grocery store, they would often frequent a small family-owned cornerstore called mackay’s market, which was two streets south of artemis’ apartment. it was here at mackay’s that artemis met mordag because she worked at the market. at the time, mordag was a student studying social work at the nearby university, so she would often be working on her homework at the checkout counter whenever artemis would come in to the market. the two of them were friendly in the way you are with an employee of a store you frequent, but after some time, artemis asked her what she was working on and the two of them hit it off really well!

artemis and mordag started to hang out, which artemis found to be such a blessing because lowkey they didn’t have any close friends in this new city, and she would invite them to things and introduce her to the people that she know. they met a lot of her classmates and friends from her hometown, but the first person that artemis got really friendly with that mordag introduced them to was kurou! kurou wasn’t in school, but he frequented a lot of the college house shows where all the local bands would play, so he was in the area almost every weekend. he was also in another band at the time, playing drums for them, so he was always out. mordag introduced artemis to kurou after they went to one of his band’s shows, having gone there solely to see him play. afterwards, the three of them became a really close group of friends for about a year and a half. artemis and kurou got really close due to a shared love of music, and they quickly became best friends. artemis would sit in on a lot of kurou’s band practices, have jam sessions, and sometimes sub in for their guitarist. all of this time with kurou and hanging around the local music scene sparked the desire to start a band of their own, but they wouldn’t answer that call for a while.

after the mordag-artemis-kurou friend group solidified, kurou started to invite kolia to hang out with them. kurou met kolia through her youngest brother thadri, who was in the same class as one of his young nephews. kurou still lived at home at the time and several of his eldest sisters lived nearby, so he would babysit their kids and drive them around and stuff. he was picking this particular nephew up from hanging out with thadri at kolia’s house (as she also lives at home with her family— this is still true in the present day). when he picked his nephew up for the first time, he met kolia and kixis, but would often just see kolia in subsequent meetings because kixis was always working saturday afternoons/evenings. they would chat about things while the kids hung out and became quite close. but afterwards, the friend group was more or less solidified!

after about another year and a half, artemis, mordag, and kurou moved into the artehouse together. three months after that, kurou, kolia, and artemis started the band. some time after this, odina came into the mix because she met kurou and kolia after she went to go see point pleasant at a house show with a friend of hers. somehow, she always managed to miss artemis though, so she meets them for the first time when you introduce her to them.

as for you and odina, you guys used to live in the same apartment complex. she lived on the same floor as you, across the hall and a couple doors down. her apartment had a balcony facing the street (and your apartment had a balcony facing the back courtyard), adn she spotted you moving in several years ago when she was out sunbathing on her balcony. i would say this was also three years ago, so you’ve known her a long time. she’s a very bubbly, outgoing girl, so she came by to introduce herself and brought you some flowers to welcome you to the building, then basically stuck herself to you going forward since you didn’t know the area or too many people around. you are friends with a lot of her friends, and she’s become friends with the people you know, so the both of you are very socialized :-)

with this backstory as context, i believe that kurou’s dirtiest secret would be this: artemis’ bedroom shares a wall with the bathroom upstairs at the artehouse. all of the bedrooms are on the same floor, so kurou uses the upstairs bathroom alongside mordag and artemis. sometimes, kurou will go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and he can hear artemis getting themself off through the wall. the first time he heard it, he was so floored. obviously he knew that they have sexual urges and would do such a thing, but like… hearing them? he didn’t understand why, but he got so turned on after hearing it that he felt sick. this doesn’t happen often, but it happens occasionally enough that it drives him nuts.
