The Art Major experience is putting your blood sweat and tears into making a piece, a piece you are incredibly proud of, a piece you stayed late at the school to finish, then you go to put it in your yearly portfolio…

Only for the advisors to tell you they prefer that one generic piece you put the bare minimum into

Art school reality is me, in a desperate voice, yelling to my graphic design teacher “I CAN COLOR BOX REAL NICE, I DONT DO NUMBER” when he asks me to do math for a package design

Being an art major sucks sometimes, especially when you stay up till 10:30 just to work on this and it turns out like crap. I started to work on this at like 8. I love it but I also hate it.

Heyy haha.. we didn't mean to vanish off the face of the earth. Whoops.

So it turns out university takes up a lot of time out of one's day (who could've guessed /s) and we need to focus on real world things. We wanted to give you all a little update, though, at least, now that we're settled in.

We're living on campus and having a good time so far, though we haven't made too many connections with the community yet. It's been a time of self discovery and reflection for us and we're a lot happier with ourselves, even though living independently is tough and inevitably going to get tougher.

We love our art classes! We're already learning new techniques and media and appreciate the learning curve. We catch on to most things pretty quickly either way, but having a bit of a challenge is nice.

Finance sucks. Assignment deadlines suck. Having to have self discipline sucks. Lol

Overall, very happy with our decision and we're determined to see it through!

In one of my classes, I am tasked with creating a video game using the program Stencyl. I have to create all the assets including background, characters, effects, title, main menu, and coding the entire gameplay.

My future posts will be more in depth but for now, I just wanted to show my completed walking cycle animation.

This game will be influenced by the real Topsy the Elephant who was killed in 1903.

There's a city wide event called 'doors open' where various galleries, churches, temples, open their doors to everyone to experience the art/architecture. Me and my friend Abby only made it to one small gallery, but it was such an enjoyable experience.

I'm particularly fond of the textured paintings that look like waves of meringue. But they also had work from Mucha and Magritte, which I wasn't anticipating from such a small place.
