my big ex is in fact my ex girlfriend who is a dude now and is who I went to lunch with

all but two of my exes have switched their genders since I dated them (one was already trans) which tracks because my real type is "people who are doing something interesting with their gender"

"see that ball over there?" Gigi points with the sleeve of her oversized sweater, a playful grin spreading across her lips as she speaks.

"Yea, our next loot?" you reply, placing your hands on the counter and squinting toward the ball.

"don’t doubt it."

It would be a lie to say that Gigi and you weren’t the best (worst) chaotic duo in Ganderview Center. Especially when the two of you seemed like birds collecting anything for your nest—which was basically just a stash of random stuff.

In the blink of an eye, you could be holding a Pop by your side, and—boom!—no more Pop.

While you handled being the distraction, Gigi was in charge of stashing away whatever you grabbed (stole) in her hat without breaking a sweat.

Sure, some toons would say it was tricky to pull off these kinds of "jobs" with Gigi, considering she liked to hoard her collection all to herself. But in moments like this, you'd act like partners, and you'd end up with the stuff she wasn’t too interested in.

And honestly, you didn’t mind what you got! Anything was a treasure for your personal collection, even if you already had a million of the same thing. For instance, this stopwatch is missing a hand, while that one is in perfect condition—unique items, in your opinion.

"y’know, I might let you keep this ball just this once."

"Whaaat? Really?" you say, astonished, especially since the ball you’d snagged was relatively new and had a lovely deep red color with white spots.

"yep, this time you win." She rests her arms comically behind her neck, the loose sleeves hanging lazily and adding to her carefree vibe.

"Yay!" You hop from foot to foot, celebrating your new prize, ready to add it to your personal collection.

Im so interested about the books you like :O more specifically books about Judaism/Jewish history etc.

Oh! My absolute favorite is Jewish Literacy by Joseph Telushkin, I adore his style of writing and it really is a lovely overview of the whole thing. I own this in hard copy, heehee. I love non-fiction and poetry. Physics and chemistry.

Yehuda Amichai, Paul Celan, Wislawa Szymborska, Richard Siken. Andrea Dworkin. Judith Herman. Johnathan Shay. Harrison's medical texts (neurology, infection and internal I own). I also have a nice siddur sim shalom, and To Life by Harold Kushner. Strange Behavior by Harold Klawans sparked my lifelong interest in medicine!

On a heavier subject, one book I do think is required reading for anyone who wants to learn about the Shoah, is We Wept Without Tears by Gideon Greif. In that same vein, Zeugen aus der Todeszone by Eric Friedler, The Cap by Roman Frister, and works by Viktor Frankl, too.

My all-time favorite work of literary fiction is Secret Vulcan Mating Rituals by chase820. Observations by janon is a close second.

My condolences, loosing someone that close to you is hard. I lost both of my parents fairly young. Some unsolicited advice: The tendency to beat yourself up over “shoulda coulda” is easy, but don’t do it. It makes the depression worse, im speaking from experience. Give yourself time to feel your feelings, seek professional help if you can and don’t close yourself off from friends/family, but set boundaries while the wound is fresh so you can limit the depressive episodes and pain from clumsy but well meaning interactions. And if you can find support groups for your specific type of grief you should try and join. It helps hearing others stories and experiences, sometimes just having someone to talk too who knows what you’re dealing with helps too, even if they are just there to listen. I know how hard it is where you are right now but it gets bearable, i promise, the world still turns even if yours has stopped. Catch up when you are ready. The ache never goes away but thats ok, you learn to understand it and live with it and it will ache less frequently eventually. If you need to talk, though im on anon, im more than willing to lend a supporting ear in pms/ims. All you need do is ask. - JAnon

oh uh...i don't want to get deeper into it right now because I'm congested and tired and i get worked up about it but i'll post the original musing under the cut as some...context i guess?

My brain glitches out a lot.

There are just times when someone presents you information and nothing could have prepared you for it so your brain just keeps replaying the information. Trying to look at it from all sides. Trying to find an angle where it makes more sense (or less sense...if I'm being honest I'm more often trying to deconstruct something so it makes less sense. I don't...I'm uncomfortable with too many truths)

"Nothing particularly interesting, but the best people to go on a run with..? This sort of ties in with the tips, but I find we do well with Pebble, Goob as a backup distractor, Glisten due to his wonderful extraction speed, Vee because of her ability and extraction speed, and a healer if possible. Not always required, but it doesn't hurt. I've gotten pretty far with them."
