I’m in the mood to praise Arabic dubs again

In the video they translated “rouh” as “darling” but the more accurate translation would be “soul” so what Dumbo’s mom is saying is actually “mama’s soul”. Also there’s this weird form of endearment that Arab mothers call their children “mama” and Arab fathers call their children “baba” why? Idk lol. Bc they wanted to tug at my heartstrings more, “rouh” means soul in Arabic but it’s similar to the word for go/leave, so Dumbo’s mom isn’t just saying “mama’s soul” she’s also saying “go my child/my soul” bc she doesn’t want her child to see her pain. There’s a double meaning here, if that makes sense.

Natlan thoughts

I think the part that sucks the most out of this is that TO ME changing the skin tone is like, the easiest part of the process. The regions in the game take time/effort/research to say the least. We’ve seen beta designs of characters get scrapped before. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth at the most. That whatever the Natlan characters called from culture wise will probably be the most seen from this game. This is the representation that they get??
