Being Tamed 2: Redefining the Basis of Our Narcissism

Our self-romantic adoration must become completely in the context of ourselves. We must come to acknowledge our inner and outer beauty not based on who else thinks that we are beautiful, but on the little nuances of the beauty that are there only for us ourselves to notice. When a beautiful day can be fully absorbed and appreciated without need of alien company to increase its meaning, we will have found our success. In the meantime, we are learning.

Yesterday we discovered our ribcage, first slippery, smooth and soft in shower, then through the peepholes of a shredded batman tee shirt that we knicked our fingers to destroy. We saw the two or three thin scars on the right side of our rib skin - and though we admittedly thought of other people and futures and pasts surrounding them - we also thought of how beautiful they looked stretched tight against the bone, like a hug.

We thought of our history as documented in skin and scars.
