being cut off from my hormone prescriptions by my local doctors for the last few months has had some negligibly positive side effects at least.. it's forced me into action to do a couple of things i'd been sort of neglecting, like dressing more ~femininely~ in my day-to-day life, and growing out a more ~feminine~ hairstyle, to combat the dysphoria.. and it's proved that i can survive without my hormones, despite how fucking miserable it's made me lmao.. and how miserable i've been has definitely at least an indicator that transitioning was right for me..
..but i think being off hormones has run it's course now, and i'd rly just like to be back on them pls.. šŸ™

This is interesting because I would personally call all these examples a reason I think "All Cops Are Bastards" is just a distraction from the main issues. What these examples describe is a systematic issue at a nation wide level. "All Cops Are Bastards" makes it sound like an issue of an individuals morals. Like every person who has ever wanted to be a cop has been evil from the start or something. But if you fired every single cop and replaced them with social workers (for example) WITHOUT also dealing with the various political/legal/social issues that led to a corrupt police force, how long until all social workers also become jaded, unempathetic, psychopaths fueling a racist system? Hell!- How long before the social workers start demanding weapons training to "protect themselves" in dangerous situations? Don't get me wrong I get how ACAB must feel emotionally satisfying to people who grew up in police worshiping environments or have been victims of police violence. That's fine; people are allowed to indulge in rhetoric that allows them to feel validated when they have been done dirty by society. Unfortunately emotionally satisfying doesn't automatically equal productive activism. If people actually want to fight for genuine change than at the end of the day it shouldn't matter whether or not people think each individual cop is a bastard or not. What matters is peoples understanding of the process behind the corruption.
Why are cops not treated the same as other public servants? Why do they get away with literal murder when teachers can't even hold a normal lesson without being called pedophiles? Why did the NYPD get away with celebrating bullying in their department in such an obvious way? Who was supposed to be responsible for that? Who is in charge of improving the justice system in general? Why was there no action taken by whatever government official is in charge of police? How effective are modern policing techniques and what can we do to improve them? Also what working conditions lead an individual towards emotional burnout? What labour laws can be implemented to ensure all front line public servants do not lose their empathy for vulnerable people? WHY are All Cops Bastards? WHO is responsible for All Cops being Bastards???
I think that people who balk at the phrase "all cops are bastards" might be helped out with "good cops don't last."
Sooner or later, every cop will encounter a situation where they can be complicit or try to do something about it. A good cop will try to do something about it. They will encounter immediate resistance, and will be pressured to shut up and be complicit (whereupon they cease to be a good cop). If they persist, they can expect to be fired, harassed, thrown in a mental hospital, or even directly physically attacked and murdered.
Hell, if they're in the NYPD, after they're done with you they'll probably make a commemorative challenge coin about it.
