Your whole life, it feels as though the world was somehow molded to revolve around your weight. It was like the people around you didn’t allow you to have any other kind of personality rather than just being “the fat friend”, to put it bluntly.
Venetia was your best friend, but even she, sometimes, made you upset when it came to that aspect.
Like when she’d complain to you about how she was gaining weight, and needed to start counting her calories again. Or when something wouldn’t fit her the way she wanted it to cause of the faintest chub of her stomach, which honestly suited her petite body.
Having lived in her shadow, it was no surprise that every man you’ve ever liked, ended up liking Venetia instead. It was easier to like Venetia. She was pretty, skinny, outgoing, the whole package deal in the form of a raging she-demon. Any man would be dumb to pass up any offer Venetia laid to them.
She comforted you, of course, and knew of your insecurities and struggles you faced of being bigger than some. She tried her best to make you feel better about it, in her own odd Venetia way, and you loved her dearly for that—but it just wasn’t enough. You longed for men to look at you the way they did her.
You knew you shouldn’t have, but sometimes you wished Venetia was the token “fat friend”. Even if it were just for a day, so she could truly understand what it was like being in your shoes. Maybe then she wouldn’t tell you that you were over exaggerating when you cried over gaining 3 more pounds.
You were tired of the look on old, decaying couples faces when you’d be sitting at a restaurant. The clear look of judgment, disgust and hostility written all over their faces when you’d order food of your choice. You knew what they were thinking without them even having to say it. It made you feel like shit.
You stopped eating in restaurants, and in front of people in general. You order all your clothes online to save the embarrassment of having to feel the disappointment of not being able to fit into something, while prying eyes mock and belittle you till you exit.
You were tired of living the life you lived. Tired of the body you had. Tired of every little imperfection and flaw that you had.
The mirror was your worst enemy, a constant reminder. A vision flashes through the eyes that stare back at you of the life you wanted. Happy. Rich. Popular. Married, with a plethora of beautiful children who you prayed never had to go through your struggles.
You were so focused, so concerned with the hatred you held for the body you were given—that you didn’t even stop to think for even just a moment, that maybe, there was someone out there who adored every part of you.
Farleigh Start, being one of them.
From the moment he laid his eyes on you, he’s loved you ever since.
From afar, he watched you in Venetias shadow—seemingly the only one who’s ever seen you. From tears falling down at the party, being the saddest person in the crowded room; to watching the way you avoided mirrors in the Saltburn mansion like they were the plague. How sad you were, was a trait he could easily tell.
He knew what your troubles were, it wasn’t hard to figure out. He just wished you saw yourself through his eyes, and maybe then you’d understand just how beautiful you were.
You were funny, and so beautiful; definitely more beautiful than his bimbo of a cousin. You were smart, which he took notice of when he saw you reading a damn book rather than engaging in a valentines party back at Oxford. He seen your scores, and knew you took school seriously. A scholarship girl, through and through. But he thought it was cute.
There was never a flaw in you, and he only ever saw you for what you were; a genuine, caring and sweet person. Never did he pay mind to what everyone else so blatantly gawked at, acting as if they’d never seen a plus size person. How ignorant of them, he’d always say. How vile.
Tonight was special, a welcome to the new boy that Felix brought home from Oxford—Oliver, was his name. A peculiar boy, to Farleigh, but an easy friend to you.
You sat down on the far end of the couch, picking at the skin around your nails absentmindedly while the others around you drank wine from the bottle, singing a song you didn’t care to listen to. Every once and a while you’d look up at Venetia, just to find her giving you the thumbs up as she took one of her playthings for the night to her chambers with a dorky smile.
Farleigh watched you from across the room. Always from across the room, never close enough for you to realize he was ever even there. You complained about being in Venetias shadow, yet Farleigh basked in yours.
You wished that men would look at you. To spare you the time of day rather than just a polite smile. But Farleigh was the one who longed for you to look at him that way. He longed for you to look at him as more than just a friend, or an admirer—he wanted you to look at him as if you were lovers.
The night was still young, as were you and Farleigh. He had been planning his approach for at least a month, finally deciding to act on his need for you. So, he watched your doe eyes watch him walk towards you with a lump in his throat. Nervous.
“Farleigh.” You greeted—the warmth and familiarity of your voice filling his ears like a melodic symphony. It was slick like honey, and gentle like a dove in midnight air. “Hey.” he fumbled out after an awkward moment of silence. You smiled.
God, that fucking smile. Anything you wanted, would be yours if you promised to smile at him like that forever. It made his knees weak—weak enough for him to take his place comfortably next to you at the end of the couch.
“How are you?” He asked, staring into your eyes, waiting for a response. You hummed as you looked down at the slightly bleeding skin around your manicured nails. “I’ve been alright.” You lied, casting your eyes up to meet his.
The glint in your eyes told him everything he needed to know. He nodded in understanding, glancing down at his hands that were nervously clamped together with sweat, which he wiped on his slacks. “You look—“ he said, before he cleared his throat from imperfections, “you look beautiful, Y/N.” He smiled.
To say you were shocked was an understatement. The words you wanted to hear slipping past his lips made your walls come crumbling down. Was it finally your turn? Your turn at a chance of happiness? It couldn’t be. This must’ve been a joke. A sick prank he was playing on you with his friends probably laughing somewhere in the room.
Your brows furrowed and Farleigh saw the clear distaste on your face begin to form. “I-“ he started, but didn’t get to finish as he watched you get up and storm out of the room.
Farleigh, in a confused haze, chased after you as you paced to your room with tears in your eyes. He shouted your name from behind you, but you didn’t dare to stop and look back till you felt his hand capture your wrist gently, pulling you to stop your fast pace.
“What’s wrong? I—w-was it something I said? Or—” he rambled on desperately. Your eyes danced across his features with resentment. “You makin’ fun of me? Huh? You think I don’t know that I’m a fucking joke already? Leave me the fuck alone, Farleigh!” You yelled out through tears.
His mouth hung agape as he shook his head in a ‘no’ manner. “W-what? What are you talking about?” He asked, waiting for an answer. You sniffled, rubbing your eyes with your free hand. “You’re making fun of me, Farleigh. Why? I thought you were different.” You huffed out.
He paused for a moment, processing just exactly what you were accusing him of, before he gives you a certain look. A look that screams ‘what the fuck?’, because seriously, what the fuck are you talking about?
“I would never do that to you. Get that out of your head. I meant what I said.” He stated, his hand moving from your wrist to hold your hand firmly. “I like you.” He professed. “I’ve liked you since I met you at Oxford. I don’t know why you think so lowly of yourself—to the point where you convince yourself that you’re not worthy of love or a happy life.” He said, matter of factly.
“You deserve a happy life and more. You deserve the fucking world at your feet. The stars and the moon. You deserve the sun and the planets that orbit it. You deserve everything you want and more, so don’t you dare fucking think for a second any less, you hear me?” He said, his hands cupping your face, forcing eye contact.
That was all it took to have you sobbing in his arms, your body flush against his. “So I’ll say it again, and as many times as I have to until you finally fucking believe me.” He kissed he top of your head as he held you close, your body shaking against his. “You’re beautiful.” He murmured out.
He lead you into your room, softly shutting the door behind the both of you. He watched you curl up on the edge of your bed, rubbing at your weeping eyes. Your little sniffles broke his heart, but he was determined to change this. To change the way you saw yourself.
He stood above you, a singular hand tilting your chin up to face him. “Let me show you just how beautiful you are.” His voice barely above a whisper, in a hopeful tone. You hesitated, for only a moment, before giving in with a nod. “I need words, honey.” He said, pushing your hair out of your face.
“Please.” You whispered back. He nodded, taking off his button down shirt, revealing his toned chest and stomach. His v-line was deep, and his happy trail prominent with faint curls. He moved to take your shirt off, but you stopped him.
“I—I don’t..” you said, your eyes unable to meet his. He sighed, dropping to his knees to become eye level with you. He held your face in his hands like he did before with a small smile. “It’s okay, baby. You’re okay.” He reassured. You let out a sigh, nodding at him as a signal that it was okay.
His large hands met the hem of your shirt, sliding it up till it was over your shoulders, and onto the floor beneath you. He laid soft kisses against the top of your breasts, nipples hidden behind a bra. His hands traveled behind you, unclamping your bra, letting it slide off of your arms, landing next to your shirt.
“Perfect.” He mumbled against you. His mouth trialed to your nipple, sucking and licking at it to his hearts content. Your perk, sensitive bud was aching in his mouth, and you released a small mewl when you felt his teeth graze over it just barely biting down. He released your nipple with a loud pop before his tongue found its way to your other nipple, giving it the same treatment as the other.
His hand groped at the breast his mouth was lapping at previously, gently pinching and pulling at your nipples. He released the nipple his mouth was working at with a loud pop, a string of saliva connecting his lips to your bud.
He gazed down at you with such admiration. It sent heat throughout your body, from the blushing of your cheeks down to your neck, and then down further more as you clenched around nothing as he laid peppery kisses to your stomach.
He traced absentmindedly around your stretch marks before planting a delicate kiss on a few of them. He kissed down till he was met with your pants, unbuttoning them agonizingly slow. When he finally slid them down your legs and onto the floor, he spread your legs open.
He gawked at the way your meaty flesh were plump through his fingers as he squeezed down on your meaty thighs. He licked and sucked at every inch of skin he could get his mouth on, sufficiently leavings a series of vampire-like hickies shamelessly on your inner thighs, only for him to see.
The prominent wet patch on your panties had his cock feel like it was suffocating in its confinements. You were insufferable; a walking, living, breathing temptation. With every innocent movement, the fat of your ass jiggled. It’s all he would watch when you’d walk in front of him, or past him and he’d have to break his neck to see.
The way your breasts bounced no matter what kind of shirt you were wearing. God, he had to go rub one out like a pervert one time because you decided to prance around in a flimsy tube top, nipples poking through on display. The self restraint he had held with you was absolutely mind boggling, yet he managed.
He was doing good, too. Up until now, when he finally had you. Your face was flushed red, all the way down to your neck. Your nipples perked and hard, craving more of his undivided attention. his finger found your panties, sliding it to the side, watching as your juices all but dripped out of your needy cunt.
“Fuckkk..” he groaned out. He pressed a kiss to your swollen clit before rubbing your bud mindlessly with his thumb in a soothing manner. “Know how needy my girl is.” He muttered, licking at your entrance, slurping at the welcoming juices that flowed out.
“Farleigh..” you whimpered out. He coped at you. “I know, honey. I know. M’gonna take care of you, baby.” His tongue swirling around your most sensitive part of your body had your eyes rolling to the back of your head in a pure euphoric feeling.
Sure, you’ve rubbed one out before, but it was never anything like this. It never felt this good, or like you were on a different fucking planet. He must’ve laced his tongue with something, because there was no way someone could do what he was doing with his tongue.
Every flick sent a shiver up your spine, and had you orbiting. Every suckle at your needy little bud that wasn’t so little when he released it from his mouth made you all the more closer to the edge of your on coming orgasm. He lapped at your juices like it was the best thing he’s ever had in his life, and to him, it was.
You tasted sweet on his tongue, and a little bitter but in a delicious way. He wanted to know what you looked like when you came. Did your mouth fall open with bliss, or would it be clenched shut? Would he be able to see those eyes he loves so much, or would they be in the back of your head?
Your hand clawed at his hair, pulling when it became too much. The balls of your feet dug into his back, all of this is a painful way, yet Farleigh didn’t seem to care. He relished in knowing how good he was making you feel. Knowing only he got to see you like this made him go feral, lapping and sucking at your cunt vigorously.
“Wait—F-Farleigh, I’m— I’m gonna cum!” You moaned out, your head thrown back onto the covers on your bed. He groaned into you, sending a wave of bliss through your core, and that was what made you come so easily undone. Your orgasm crashed into you like an unsuspecting wave, but of pleasure with a hint of pain as he continued torturing you through your orgasm.
“Good girl. Did so good, baby. Y’look so fuckin’ pretty.” He praised, kissing your thigh as you came down from your world-shattering high. Little did you know, that was going to be nothing compared to the way you’re going to feel when he was done with you.
You watched as he stripped himself of his pants and boxers, freeing himself of his confinements. His cock sprang and stood proudly, slapping his stomach. You gulped at the sight of him. Hard, with prominent veins on the sides with a red, angry tip that leaked pre-cum. He was more long than girthy, around 8 inches, the biggest you’d ever seen in person.
It twitched slightly, and his heavy, slightly hairy balls hung, full of cum that you wished to milk out of him till he couldn’t give any more. You craved him, and the need to be stuffed was consuming your darkening thoughts, spreading your legs even wider as a welcoming. An initiative that Farleigh happily took.
He rubbed his length through your folds, teasingly. Each time he did so, his weeping tip bumped against your engorged, sensitive clit. “Sweet girl, you’re so wet f’me.” He pointed out, causing that familiar flush to resume on your hot cheeks. “Please fuck me, Farleigh.” You asked.
Farleigh couldn’t possibly say no to his best girl when you looked up at him like he was a godsend. When you finally looked up at him the way he longed for you to. “Anything you want, baby.” And sure enough, his cock slipped past your lower lips, invading your pussy with such recklessness.
Your walls squeezed him tightly, a warm welcome as you clamped down harder onto him when he fully bottomed out. His balls slapped against the underside of your pussy with each hard thrust he delivered to your cunt, angled just the right way, hitting all the right spots that made your legs shake.
“F-farleigh! Oh-“ you moaned out, gripping the sheets below you with such force, anything to stabilize yourself from the blunt force of his cock dominating your insides.
Farleighs mind was consumed with you. The way you felt around him. The way you looked under him, hair matted to your forehead as desperate cries of pleasure slipped past your lips. He couldn’t help himself, he needed to be closer to you. If he could live in your skin, he would, because even now as you were joined together, it wasn’t enough for him.
His lips attacked yours, taking your breath away as your tongues tangled together. He tasted like his Marlboro cigarettes, mixed with the taste of you. The kiss was passionate, an exchanging of unspoken words the two of you would discuss afterwards.
Your mixed saliva was messy, to say the least. It covered the both of your chins, and a string of saliva connected your tongues still, even as he pulled away. The whole scene was erotic as he kissed down your neck, licking and biting at spots, surely a display of marks for everyone to see and wonder who left them.
But he wasn’t hiding himself, not after this, no. He’ll be at your side forever and always after this. There was no more lonely nights of longing, no more worries and ‘what if’s’, or feeling incomplete, like something was missing, when the whole time he knew that it was you.
A wave of relief danced over your features. You didn’t have to go through this alone now, and as you were on the brink of your second release for the night, the stars seemed to shine brighter through your half opened curtains. He luminescent lighting spanning over Farleighs features, making him look most ethereal above you.
His face was contorted in bliss, a show of how he felt as he forhead rested against yours. Pants slipped past his lips as his hand met the flesh of your breast, squeezing. “Need you. M’gonna cum, baby. Can I cum in you?” He asked breathlessly. You nodded. “Yes, please, Farleigh. Please cum in me.” You moaned against him.
He moaned out, his pace becoming a little more sloppy as his hips chased for a release. You felt your orgasm consume you for a second time tonight, making you tumble over yourself as your body wracked with an overwhelming sense of pleasure. His tip hit your g-spot with every thrust, and the feeling was becoming overwhelmingly good.
Tears lined your eyes, but he kissed them away with sweet nothings as he painted your walls a creamy white color, his hips finally stuttering against yours in a final show of his arousal for the night. His balls grew tight, as he filled with with a groan. Sure enough, your sweet cunt was milking him greedily.
When he finally decided to pull out, he watched the way both of your release mixed together in a beautiful display. He smiled softly down at you, your eyes connecting in a sense of a strange understanding. Both of you, outsiders, who now had each other.
His hand found yours as he planted a charming kiss on your forehead. “Let’s get you cleaned up, yeah?” He hummed out, watching as you nodded, propping yourself upright.
He slid his clothes back swiftly, making his way to the restroom, wetting a cloth with warm water before making his way back to where you sat, waiting on your bed. “Let me see, honey.” He urged, ushering your legs back open, gently dapping the warm cloth on your sensitive cunt, cleaning up the remnants of the mess both of you had made.
“Are you alright?” He asked as he used the clean side of the warm cloth to gently dab your forehead, ridding it of sweat, pushing your hair out of the way. “Yes—I—thank you” you said after a moment of pondering your words.
He raised a brow. “For what?” He asked. You blushed, embarrassed under his peering gaze. Ironic, seeing as he saw and heard so much more from you just mere seconds ago. “For everything, I suppose. I-I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner.” You muttered, almost ashamed.
He clicked his tongue as he flicked your forehead with his finger. “You silly girl.” Was all he muttered. “Don’t worry about that now. It doesn’t matter anymore. You know now, and that’s what counts.” He smiled, a confirmation that everything indeed, was going to be okay.
His curly hair seemed more vibrant, and the glint in his eyes told you what you longed and awaited to hear the most.
“I love you.”

Dom sat quietly, his fingers idly tracing the edges of the sleek black card resting on the table between them. He watched Alex from the corner of his eye, noting how his partner had just glanced at the card, hesitated for a moment, and then—predictably—tucked it away in the drawer beside him. Dom's face remained neutral, as always, but if anyone were paying close attention, they might have caught the fleeting glimmer of expectation in his eyes, and just as quickly, the quiet disappointment that followed.
It was such an Alex thing to do.
Dom sighed inwardly. He didn’t mind the idea of Alex depending on him financially. In fact, he welcomed it. Dom wished, more than anything, for Alex to stop worrying about mundane things like rent or grocery bills. If it were up to him, Alex would never have to lift a finger in his life. Dom could easily provide for him in ways most people could only dream of. He could bring the world—quite literally—right to Alex’s doorstep. If Alex wanted anything, all he had to do was ask, and Dom would move mountains to get it for him.
But Alex never asked.
Instead, he worked, paying his own bills, shopping for his own groceries, meticulously budgeting out his salary like any normal person. It was something Dom both admired and was quietly frustrated by. Every time he saw Alex pull out his own wallet at the store or pay for something online, Dom had to resist the urge to whisk him away from such trivial responsibilities. He could fix everything in a heartbeat, take away any financial burdens Alex might ever have, if only Alex would let him.
The black card had been a token of that promise. Dom had given it to Alex almost as a gesture of love, a subtle way of saying, I want to take care of you. And yet, Alex never used it. Not once. Dom couldn’t understand it. The world was there, right at his fingertips, yet Alex refused to reach out and take it.
He could see why, of course. Alex was independent, and adamant about maintaining a normal, modest life. He cherished the everyday moments—the quiet walks in the park, the satisfaction of a job well done, the simplicity of cooking his own meals and making his own way. He cherished Dom, too, with a loyalty and care that went far beyond anything material. And that was what made Alex… Alex.
Dom knew this. He loved this about him. Alex’s modesty, his humility, his refusal to take anything for granted—these were all the things that endeared him to Dom in the first place. Alex didn’t need extravagant gifts, private jets, or luxury resorts. What Alex valued was connection, honesty, and hard work. It was why he was so devoted, why he never took their relationship for granted, why he loved Dom with a purity that no amount of wealth could ever buy.
And yet, Dom couldn’t help but wish that Alex would lean on him just a little. He wanted to spoil Alex, not because he felt Alex needed it, but because it was the way he showed his love. Dom didn’t express his emotions easily through words. He wasn’t one to get overly sentimental or make grand romantic gestures. Instead, he showed his affection by making sure Alex had everything he could ever want or need—even when Alex didn’t ask for it.
That was why, even though Alex never used the black card, Dom still took it upon himself to buy things for him on Alex’s behalf. He couldn’t help it. Whether it was upgrading their apartment to something more spacious, surprising Alex with clothes he knew Alex would love, or investing in the little restaurant Alex had once mentioned liking—Dom did it all quietly, without expecting anything in return. Alex never told him to, but Dom insisted. He saw it as his way of taking care of Alex, even if Alex would never outright say he needed it.
He knew Alex appreciated the thought behind it. There was always that moment of exasperation when Alex found out about one of Dom’s purchases, but underneath it, Dom could see the warmth in his partner’s eyes. Alex never scolded him for it. In fact, sometimes, Dom caught the softest of smiles, like Alex knew what Dom was trying to say through all the money spent on his behalf.
At the end of the day, what Dom wanted more than anything was for Alex to know how much he meant to him. The world could offer him anything, but to Dom, Alex was worth more than all of it combined. So no matter how many times Alex stashed away that black card or insisted on handling things himself, Dom would continue to do what he always did. He’d buy the things Alex wouldn’t ask for, make sure Alex had everything he needed, and quietly spoil him in all the ways Alex pretended not to notice.
It was just how Dom loved him—unspoken, unwavering, and boundless. And deep down, Dom knew that Alex understood.
___________________________
Alex had always found a certain comfort in the routine of doing things himself. It wasn't about proving his independence or shunning help—he was more than willing to accept assistance when he needed it—but there was something special about taking charge of the little details in his life. He enjoyed the sense of purpose that came with waking up early, slipping into the kitchen while the world outside was still quiet, and preparing breakfast for both himself and Dom. The scent of freshly brewed coffee, the soft clatter of pans, and the rhythmic chopping of vegetables were rituals he savored.
Every morning, he carefully packed lunch for the both of them, making sure each lunchbox was different from the last. One day it might be a hearty sandwich with homemade pickles, the next a delicate bento with intricately arranged sushi rolls and a small note tucked inside for Dom to find later. Alex put his heart into these meals, knowing how much Dom appreciated them. Though the coyote rarely said much, Alex could always tell from the soft look in his eyes and the way he carefully opened his lunch each day that it meant something to him.
Alex handled the groceries, making mental notes of what they were running low on, always experimenting with new ingredients to keep things fresh. He enjoyed the simple joy of walking through the aisles, picking out produce, imagining the next dish he would surprise Dom with. It was these small tasks that kept Alex grounded, kept him connected to the life he wanted to lead.
Dom, on the other hand, always had a different idea. "You shouldn't have to lift a finger," he would say, his voice calm and matter-of-fact as he watched Alex fold laundry or sweep the floor. To Dom, it seemed almost absurd that Alex would want to do these things himself when he could hire someone to take care of it all. After all, Dom had the means, and Alex knew he would gladly spend whatever it took to make sure Alex lived a life of ease.
But that just wasn’t Alex.
He would chuckle softly whenever Dom made such comments, waving him off with a smile. "I like doing this stuff," Alex would reply, his hands busy stirring a pot or folding a towel. "It’s what keeps me me, y’know?"
And truth be told, Alex knew that Dom understood. Despite his occasional protests, Dom never actually stopped Alex from handling the day-to-day chores. He'd help when he could—folding clothes beside Alex, taking out the trash, or tidying up after a meal—but there was a quiet respect in the way Dom let Alex be. It was almost as if Dom cherished these small, personal touches as much as Alex did. Perhaps even more.
Every time Dom opened his lunchbox at work, Alex could imagine him sitting there, carefully unwrapping whatever Alex had made that day. And even though Dom was a man of few words, Alex could picture the soft glimmer of emotion in his eyes as he took the first bite. For Dom, it wasn’t just about the food—it was the thought, the effort, the love Alex poured into it. It was Alex’s way of taking care of him, of grounding their relationship in something tangible, even amidst Dom’s world of wealth and business.
The routine of it all—the breakfasts, the packed lunches, the grocery runs, the workouts—kept Alex feeling grounded in the life he’d built with Dom. It was a reminder that no matter how extravagant Dom’s gestures became, no matter how large their world seemed, it was the small, everyday things that mattered most. Alex found comfort in the familiar, in the rhythm of his own hands working through the simple tasks of life.
Dom, for all his insistence that Alex shouldn't have to work so hard, never failed to show how much he appreciated these little gestures. He might not say it out loud, but every morning, as he left the house with the lunch Alex had made him, there was a quiet reverence in his eyes. It was the same look he had every evening when he returned home, knowing that in all the grand gestures, the simple routines they shared were what truly defined them.
And Alex wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I've found it interesting to read your thoughts in the past about the rishta process and your more recent thoughts on your dating experiences. Would be interested to hear more about what brought about that change.
For me, I spent so many years just resisting the arranged marriage process, which took a lot of mental energy. Deep down, I did want a relationship but I never really explored my options outside that process. It's only the last couple of years where I've very slowly started to explore online dating, which has been a steep learning curve. I've had some good experiences getting to know people and thought I'd met someone I would marry last year but ended up being left emotionally bruised by that experience.
It's hard sometimes not to regret all those years wasted on staying firm and saying no without exploring other options. I feel like these experiences are ones I should have had 10+ years ago and perhaps things won't work out for me on the relationship front. I think my lack of experience and naïvety will hold me back.
Yea I feel similarly. I refuse to go through my rishta tag cos I can't believe i was subjected to that ordeal honestly. In hindsight I think that process, among other things in my life really traumatized me to the point where I completely shutdown romantically. To the point where i never found any man attractive, no matter what, even when i tried to date someone myself. I think my home environment just wasnt a safe place.
And I genuinely didnt desire a partner until basically the fall of 2022 which is precisely when I deliberately started to put myself out there. I also wrote about it being a very deliberate act. I was largely okay with being alone before that.
And while i realized even before that your friends and family will have their own life. My friends all got married early to mid 20s so many of them just kind of disappeared. So i always knew this. But i realized now that as life goes on - it'll just be harder to be alone. Our environment really isn't build for anything but couples. like socially and economically, it's very hard to be single. I would have love it if I had 10 female friends who prioritized their lives / didn't centre men. That you can go out and do activities with - see plays, or try out restaurants. But I only have one friend like that. And even still, she has her own life with her partner. So day to day, no one is really there for you.
I so wish that we had a communal type of living where a companion was just one aspect of your life, not the main one socially. But our current world - it's a main aspect of your social life.
Yes part of me does regret not starting to look earlier. But in the same token, i was never mentally there. there were a few romantic interests that were "good" by even my impossible standards (doesn't watch porn, i want them to have a very specific way that they view attraction - i.e., i don't want them to be sexually attracted to me until they are emotionally attracted to me. I find this to be very rare in men. Most of them are sexually attracted to you first and have already thought about you in a sexual manner very early on). And somehow i was still not attracted to them.
I also think the best state of mind to be in, when dating men, is when you don't actually want them/need them/arent afraid to be alone. I think this is protective when dating men because you will easily cut them off at the slightest. It's protective.
But I also want to say to be positive. Be careful, cautious. But put yourself out there. And have fun! You never know!

Okay, I am back on tumblr more in earnest. Hello! I am Dyer, I go by BasiliskOnline most places online!
I am, primarily, a Pro-GM and a TTRPG Game Designer, once upon a time, I was an artist as well, but currently have put the stylus down. I may pick it up again one day, we'll see. There may be some personal art if I find the time.

At the end of last year I started doing Pro-GMing so that I did not have to return to doing restaurant work, since covid is still a thing and my wife is high risk. You can find my Pro-GM profile at Startplaying.Games. I mostly run Pathfinder 2E right now because there is enough interest to find players without having to play 5E.

Said in this household today, paraphrased, as I can't remember exactly what was said: My fiance / common law hubby talking about a Youtuber he was watching: *Describes the guy's background as a comic book shop owner* "Unfortunately, he's a Trumper - so there's...that, but he knows comics. Keeps his politics *mostly* out of things, but it comes up sometimes." *Talks about how the guy rants about how some of the film adaptations don't keep to source material.* Me and my guy: *Both agree on some stuff about how progressive storytelling is fine if it is not forced / tokenism.* (I'm very progressive...and female... but I really don't like stuff in media that is *obviously* only there as a token. One can tell the difference between organic storytelling and "rammed in for a buck." SOMEHOW this lead into a conversation about how the '90s X-Men comics had, in terms of gay characters, a pair of brothers "who were into each other" ??? (Not something I'm sure of, and not an anti-gay statement, just a bit of comics-trivia). Cue me going: "Okay, I have a RANT about Trigun-fandom!" My guy starts laughing. "Plantcest!" He's into Trigun, too, I got him into it, but he's not into the online creative fandom currently. (He wrote some fanfiction back in OG fandom back in the day, some of it gifts to me, but he doesn't have the time to do fanfiction anymore). I was *sigh* "It was always there, [mutual enemy] was into it for a bit," bringing back some bad memories that he might have forgotten because [mutual enemy] was more into and belligerent about another ship, but I said now, with Stampede? Given some of the weird metaphyscial stuff between Vash and Knives there? "Some fans are taking it as mutual. If you go to Archive of our Own, it's the second most popular ship. So many Explicit-rated fics and some of them are just... (beyond just incest) just... super weird." Cue me describing some...interesting fetish tags. And how I have read a few out of curiosity. It's wild. Sort of warning him off of most of Ao3 for the fandom because he's more kink-averse than I am (and I'm the one who actually openly identifies as an asexual!) I'm kind of going... "Oh, good lord, the Plantcest in this fandom!" *and how I have the tag blocked.* For those viewing this blog / post... I do warn, I am very against Plantcest / Twincest (at least as a mutual thing / kink). It's a gives me the heebie jeebies thing. I am not going to harass people over it or call people terrible for liking it. It's just... not my thing. I've got tags blocked on here. It's just... I get a little annoyed that I have to filter a lot on Ao3 to find stories I will like because it's the second most popular ship. My complaint isn't that it exists so much as it's like my complaint about how Mexican-American restaurants want to put guac on everything when we don't like guac and we have to specify "no guac."

The Evolution of Payment Processing: From Traditional Methods to Digital Innovation
Payment processing has undergone a dramatic transformation over the past few decades, evolving from cash-based transactions to sophisticated digital systems that drive today's global economy. This evolution is driven by advancements in technology, changes in consumer behavior, and the need for businesses to adapt to an increasingly connected world. Understanding how payment processing works and its impact on commerce is crucial for both businesses and consumers.
Traditional Payment Processing Methods
Historically, payment methods were simple: cash, checks, and credit cards. Cash was once the most dominant form of transaction, offering immediate exchange of goods or services. Checks, though less immediate, allowed for larger transactions and more flexibility. Credit cards revolutionized consumer payments, enabling instant credit and facilitating online purchases.
However, these methods came with limitations. Cash transactions could be slow, inconvenient for large purchases, and susceptible to theft. Checks required time to clear and posed a risk of fraud. Early credit card systems were plagued with manual processing errors and security concerns. These inefficiencies created a demand for better, faster, and more secure payment systems.
The Rise of Digital Payment Systems
With the rise of the internet and mobile technology, payment processing took a digital leap. Electronic funds transfer (EFT) systems enabled faster bank-to-bank transfers. Debit and credit cards became more secure with the introduction of chip and PIN technology. The introduction of mobile wallets, such as Apple Pay and Google Wallet, allowed consumers to pay using smartphones, eliminating the need for physical cards.
Digital payment gateways, like PayPal, Stripe, and Square, simplified online transactions, enabling small businesses and large enterprises alike to accept payments globally. These platforms provide a secure way to process credit and debit card payments online, while also offering added features such as fraud detection and chargeback protection. The use of encryption and tokenization technology ensures that sensitive payment information is kept safe, reducing the risk of data breaches.
Contactless Payments and the Impact of COVID-19
The global COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of contactless payment methods. Consumers increasingly sought out touch-free options to avoid physical contact, driving the popularity of near-field communication (NFC) technology in cards and mobile devices. Tap-to-pay transactions became common at retail stores, restaurants, and even transportation systems.
Digital wallets and contactless payment methods saw explosive growth as businesses sought to offer safer, more convenient ways to pay. This trend pushed even more merchants to adopt online payment systems, expanding the reach of e-commerce.
Cryptocurrency and Blockchain in Payment Processing
The introduction of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum further expanded the possibilities of payment processing. Blockchain technology, the backbone of cryptocurrency transactions, offers a decentralized, secure, and transparent system for transferring funds. This innovation is particularly useful in cross-border transactions, where traditional banking methods often involve high fees and lengthy delays.
Cryptocurrency has also opened up new opportunities for micropayments, remittances, and peer-to-peer transactions. However, the volatility of cryptocurrencies and regulatory uncertainty have slowed their widespread adoption in mainstream payment processing.
Security and Compliance
As payment processing evolves, so do the security challenges. Fraud, data breaches, and identity theft are constant threats. To mitigate these risks, payment processors are required to comply with stringent regulations such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), which sets guidelines for secure handling of payment data.
In addition, advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning have enabled payment processors to better detect and prevent fraudulent transactions in real-time. By analyzing patterns and anomalies, these systems can flag suspicious activity, reducing the risk of fraud.
The Future of Payment Processing
The future of payment processing is expected to bring even more innovation. As technology advances, businesses and consumers can expect to see faster, more secure, and more diverse Payment Terminals. The rise of digital currencies issued by central banks, like the digital yuan or digital euro, could reshape global finance, creating a new standard for transactions.
Additionally, the continued growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) may lead to "invisible" payments, where devices themselves handle transactions automatically. For example, smart refrigerators could reorder groceries or autonomous cars could pay for parking, all without human intervention.

Day 2 and 3 - 10th and 11th October 2009 in Kyiv - not the original post. Written in October 2014
Please note, some of the links are a bit old. This was written in October 2014, as opposed to October 2009.
Sorry this post is long, but it means a lot to me. Five years ago today, I went on possibly the longest airline flight since November 2003 when I flew directly from SFO to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok airport on Lantau/Tung Chung. It was DFW to IAD (Washington Dulles), then to DME (Moscow Domodedovo), and finally to KIE (Kiev Borispol) on S7 Airlines. It beat the time it took flying directly from SFO to Hong Kong. I did not get to Kiev until about 7 PM local time. Were there direct flights from the USA to Kiev in October 2009? I was using some miles that time from an undisclosed major US air carrier, so that would not have been an option anyway. What did I have for supper? I went to a Czech restaurant near the US Consulate, had a pork chop with dumplings and gravy, and Staropramen beer plus a bottle of pasteurized non-alcoholic Kvass that I bought at an "outdoor 7 Eleven". Those outdoor 7 Elevens are as common as McDonald's, one of Kiev's greatest conveniences, plus the bus ticket sales and marshrutka cash-only minibuses. For the metro you have to go to a station to get the turquoise tokens for two hryvnias, approx $0.23 US apiece, good for one entry and "unlimited transfers" until you go up the escalator to the exit, and after that? Too bad, use another token to re-enter, comrade!— in Kyiv, Ukraine.Lots of cool stuff to see in Kiev. Saturday 10th I went on the Lonely Planet Guide walking tour, saw the parliament building and presidential building, the park where dozens and dozens of wedding photo parties going on, one with a Chrysler 300C limo. Then St. Michael's, St. Sophia's and St. Volodymyr's. Watch out for the "turkey droppers" who try to scam tourists with cash they drop. I don't fall for that nonsense. Sunday 11th I went to the Lavra, it's a complex of Orthodox chapels, south of downtown Kiev. I also went into the military museum about a mile away, had Indian for lunch - that place just stuck out but I had to try it anyway. Monday the 12th I went to the Chernobyl museum, much safer than the actual site itself - I bet most of you cannot remember the incident in 1986, one of the Soviet Union's most embarrassing moments, it's too depressing to describe, won't go on unless you really want to know. Had lunch at the Garbuzyk, had the best authentic Chicken Kiev. Visited the big complex way south of downtown Kiev, with about fifty different architectural styles seen across the Ukraine. For food, I recommend the Original "Bierstube" http://www.lonelyplanet.com/.../entertain.../other/bierstube for their excellent Stroganoff as well as "Viola's" http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCYQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lonelyplanet.com%2Fukraine%2Fkyiv%2Fentertainment-nightlife%2Fother%2Fviolas-bierstube&ei=sgg2VNWoNcGTyASa94DICA&usg=AFQjCNE9LTTofE_d3Kv0IIHTDwyZs6U_Kw&sig2=117lapTNVhSNjwUOewpSHg&bvm=bv.76943099,d.aWw, also "Shalena Mama" http://www.lonelyplanet.com/.../res.../european/shalena-mama. For breakfast, I recommend "Double Coffee", they make excellent egg and meat dishes. Lots of other good places are at Maidan Nezhaleznosti / Kreshchatyk.
Four days later, namely Tuesday the 13th I would take a long train ride from Kiev to Minsk via Korosten. Had an interesting adventure in a town that seemed to still be stuck in the Soviet times, ending up ordering pizza and hot tea. Hot tea with pizza? When it's raining cats and dogs in the Ukraine, and it's in the upper 40's, Coke, Pepsi and beer might not be the best thing to have. Soviet coffee has not really improved since I first visited July/August 1990. Also it's hard getting long-distance train tickets in the former Soviet Union, even in 2009, regardless of one's fluency in Russian. Despite computers, they did not have an online booking function with either Ukraine or Belarus. No such thing as a Eurail pass for that part of Europe. Your basic choices are "Platskartniy" or "Kupeniyi" classes. Platskartniy is sort of open seating and you might have to share an open compartment with a "babushka" Kupeniy class is the traditional four berth compartment, meals are included, tea is cheap by the glass. I ended up in Minsk, about Wednesday the 14th at 5:30 AM local time. McDonalds was open but they were serving lunch for breakfast. Photos from that time available on request - including the mug of mustard from the Bierstube! The Fitness Studio boat doesn't come for another week at least.

Why Thank You Bags are Essential for Your Business's Customer Loyalty Strategy
Tumblr media
In today's competitive market, creating a memorable customer experience is essential for any business looking to foster loyalty. One often overlooked but highly effective tool in your customer retention arsenal is the humble thank you bag. These seemingly simple plastic bags can leave a lasting impression on your customers, reinforcing your brand and encouraging repeat business.
The Power of Subtlety in Customer Experience
Creating a memorable customer experience doesn't always require grand gestures. Sometimes, the small, thoughtful details can have the most significant impact. Thank you bags serve as a subtle yet powerful way to show your appreciation. They transform an everyday item into a moment of connection between your brand and your customers.
Thank you bags aren't just about the message; they also enhance the overall shopping experience. Receiving a beautifully designed thank you bag with their purchase makes customers feel valued and special. This positive emotion can turn a one-time buyer into a loyal customer.
Branding plays a crucial role in customer loyalty, and thank you bags contribute significantly to this. Each time a customer carries one of your branded bags, it serves as a walking advertisement for your business. This not only reinforces your brand in the customer's mind but also increases visibility among others who see the bag.
Versatility Across Business Types
Retailers
For brick-and-mortar stores, thank you bags can be a game-changer. They are a tangible token of appreciation that customers take home with them. Every time they reuse the bag, they're reminded of their positive shopping experience with your store.
Imagine a customer leaving your boutique with a stylish thank you bag. They use it again for small errands, constantly reminded of your brand. This recurring exposure helps keep your store top-of-mind for future shopping needs.
Additionally, thank you bags can enhance the in-store experience. A well-designed bag can make a customer's purchase feel like a gift, adding to the overall satisfaction of their visit.
Small Businesses
Small businesses often rely on word-of-mouth and repeat customers. Thank you bags can help in both areas. When customers feel appreciated, they're more likely to recommend your business to others.
Thank you bags also offer an affordable way to market your brand. The cost of custom-printed bags is relatively low, especially when considering the potential return on investment in terms of brand loyalty and new customer acquisition.
For small businesses with a limited marketing budget, thank you bags provide a cost-effective method to leave a lasting impression. Their utility ensures they're used repeatedly, keeping your brand visible over time.
E-commerce Businesses
In the e-commerce world, where face-to-face interactions are rare, thank you bags provide a physical connection. Including a thank you bag in your packaging adds a personal touch that can set your business apart from competitors.
Customers appreciate the extra effort, which can lead to positive reviews and word-of-mouth referrals. In the age of social media, a well-designed thank you bag can even become part of an unboxing experience shared online.
E-commerce businesses can further personalize the thank you bags by including handwritten notes or special promotions. This elevates the customer experience and fosters a sense of connection with your brand.
Hospitality and Service Industry
The hospitality and service sectors thrive on excellent customer service. Thank you bags can be used to enhance this experience, whether they're given out at hotels, restaurants, or event venues.
Imagine a guest leaving a hotel with a thank you bag containing local goodies. These thoughtful touches can significantly enhance their overall experience, making them more likely to return and recommend your establishment.
Thank you bags can also be personalized for special events or seasons, adding to the uniqueness of the customer experience. This attention to detail helps create a memorable stay or visit.
Nonprofits and Charitable Organizations
Nonprofits can use thank you bags to show appreciation to donors and volunteers. A small token of thanks can go a long way in strengthening relationships and encouraging continued support.
Thank you bags can also be used during fundraising events, creating a positive impression and spreading awareness about your cause. Their utility ensures they remain in circulation, promoting your organization over time.
For charitable organizations, thank you bags can also serve as a reminder of the positive impact donors and volunteers are making, fostering a deeper connection to the cause.
Manufacturers and Distributors
For manufacturers and distributors, thank you bags can be a unique way to show appreciation to clients and partners. This small gesture can help strengthen business relationships and encourage ongoing collaboration.
Imagine a client receiving their shipment with a thank you bag. This thoughtful touch can set your business apart and foster a sense of loyalty and partnership.
Thank you bags can also be used internally to show appreciation to employees, boosting morale and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Whether it’s for a special occasion or simply as a token of thanks, finding the right gift can be a thoughtful gesture that strengthens your professional relationship. Here are some unique and considerate gift ideas to help you show your appreciation to your mentor.
1. Personalized Notebook or Planner
A high-quality, personalized notebook or planner is a practical and elegant gift. You can have it embossed with their initials or name, making it a unique and personal item they’ll use regularly. It’s perfect for jotting down notes, ideas, and meeting plans, and it reflects both thoughtfulness and functionality.
2. Customized Desk Accessories
Desk accessories such as a nameplate, pen holder, or mouse pad can be customized to add a personal touch to their workspace. Opt for items made from high-quality materials, such as leather or wood, to ensure they are both stylish and durable. A personalized desk accessory not only enhances their workspace but also serves as a daily reminder of your appreciation.
3. Inspirational Books
Choose a book that aligns with their interests or professional field. Consider works by thought leaders or authors who have had a significant impact in their area of expertise. An inscribed book with a heartfelt note can make the gift even more special. If they enjoy personal development, consider books that offer new perspectives or strategies for growth.
4. Elegant Pen Set
A sophisticated pen set is a classic gift that combines practicality with a touch of luxury. Look for high-quality pens that offer a smooth writing experience and come in a beautiful case. This gift can be both functional and stylish, reflecting their professionalism and attention to detail.

Options include magazines related to their field, online courses for continuous learning, or subscription boxes that deliver curated items based on their preferences. This gift shows that you value their passions and are attentive to their personal interests.
6. Customized Art or Framed Quotes
A piece of art or a framed quote that resonates with their personal or professional values can be a meaningful addition to their office or home. Choose something that reflects their personality or achievements, and consider having it customized to add a personal touch. This gift serves as both decoration and inspiration.
7. Experience-Based Gifts
Sometimes, experiences can be more memorable than physical items. Consider gifting vouchers for a special experience, such as a fine dining restaurant, a weekend getaway, or a workshop that aligns with their interests. Experiences create lasting memories and offer a unique way to show your appreciation.
8. Quality Coffee or Tea Set
If your mentor enjoys coffee or tea, a high-quality set can be a delightful gift. Look for gourmet blends, artisanal teas, or a beautifully crafted teapot or coffee maker. This gift can enhance their daily routine and provide moments of relaxation amidst their busy schedule.
9. Personalized Calendar
A custom calendar featuring inspirational quotes, photos, or artwork can be both functional and meaningful. You can include important dates or events that are significant to them or even add personal notes to make it more special. It’s a practical gift that they can use throughout the year.
10. Handwritten Thank You Note
Sometimes, a heartfelt handwritten note can be the most cherished gift of all. Take the time to express your gratitude and reflect on how their mentorship has impacted you. A sincere note can accompany a smaller gift or stand alone as a meaningful gesture of appreciation.
Conclusion
Selecting a gift idea for mentor is a wonderful opportunity to show your appreciation for their guidance and support. By choosing something thoughtful and personalized, you convey your gratitude in a meaningful way. Whether it’s a practical item, an inspirational book, or a memorable experience, the key is to choose a gift that reflects their interests and the value you place on their mentorship.
