But it's unclear how long it will take It seems that Apple is still not going to give up developing its own 5G modem . At least this conclusion can be drawn from a fresh interview with the company's senior vice president of hardware technology, Johny Srouji. [caption id="attachment_85245" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] It looks like Apple isn't going to give up. A CNBC journalist directly asked him to comment on rumors that development of the modem had been discontinued. Of course, Srouj did not say anything intelligible, but stated that Apple is interested in its own modem and it has teams that can implement this project. That is, apparently, the Cupertino giant is still not going to curtail development, although you should always keep in mind the possibility that at the time of the interview the company was simply not ready to talk about closing the project.

Approximately two years later than originally planned Apple will again have to postpone its plans to replace Qualcomm modems in the iPhone with its own. [caption id="attachment_82851" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] The Cupertino giant is reportedly still facing technical difficulties in developing its own 5G modem. The company has already postponed the transition to its modem, but now it is expected that they will be postponed again until early 2026. Apple has not yet managed to get rid of its dependence on Qualcomm. As previously reported, the main problems with Apple's design are overheating and lack of performance. At the same time, which is logical, Apple needs not only to replace the Qualcomm modem with its own, but to replace it in such a way that its own modem was at least not much worse, but rather superior to the competitor’s product. Qualcomm is also not standing still, continuing to develop new generations. Initially, Apple was going to release the first iPhone with its modem in 2024. Now, as we see, the deadlines have been shifted by about two years, and it is far from a fact that Apple will succeed by the beginning of 2026.

And not only with this Apple seems to have accepted that it will have to make significant changes to some of its software products due to the new EU Digital Markets Act. Apple has reportedly already made the appropriate changes to the Form K-10 document regarding risk factors for 2023.  [caption id="attachment_80882" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Apple[/caption] Apple will have to change literally the deepest rules of iOS. Apple indicates that future changes it will have to make due to the new EU law will affect how the company charges developers to access its platforms, how it manages app distribution outside of the App Store, and "how and to what extent this allows developers to communicate with consumers within the App Store regarding alternative purchasing mechanisms.”  That is, at a minimum, Apple is preparing to launch third-party application stores on iOS, as required by the EU, as well as third-party payment mechanisms.  Let us remind you that the new law may also affect the iMessage messenger. Moreover, Google has already entered the game here, teaming up with the largest European operators.

Tim Cook previously announced record sales in September International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said iPhone shipments in the Chinese market fell more than expected. He added that iPhone shipments in the Chinese market will continue to decline in 2024, which means that the Chinese smartphone market will continue to change due to the return of Huawei. Based on previous financial reports, Apple expects revenue in the fourth quarter of 2023 to be the same as in the fourth quarter of 2022, meaning Apple's performance will be weaker than expected. Ming-Chi Kuo said that the main reason is the decline in demand for iPhone in the Chinese market. Apple is losing the Chinese market: iPhone shipments fell more than expected [caption id="attachment_80747" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] Analysts at Counterpoint Research said last month that they estimated iPhone 15 sales in the first 17 days of its launch in China were down 4.5% compared with iPhone 14 sales in the same time period. iPhone 15 sales were lower than expected, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, because many Chinese consumers began returning to the Android camp, such as the Huawei Mate 60. Apple CEO Tim Cook previously said the Chinese market is seeing strong demand for iPhones, with iPhone sales in the September quarter setting a quarterly record in China.

Buyers will sign up to try out the new product before purchasing. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has revealed new details about the Apple Vision Pro headset. It is expected to appear “early next year”, but it is unlikely to allow Apple to significantly increase revenue. CEO Tim Cook laid out his approach to selling a device that combines virtual and augmented reality: “There hasn't been a product like the Vision Pro on the market before. And that's why we intentionally sell it only in our stores. "We will be offering in-store demos and it will be very different from the typical 'grab and go' buying process." Apple has come up with a new approach to selling Vision Pro [caption id="attachment_79406" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Vision Pro[/caption] While he didn't go into detail, Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple plans to require buyers to make an appointment to test the Vision Pro before purchasing. Vision Pro flagship stores will also have dedicated shopping areas. International distribution of the new product will be moderate. Vision Pro will launch in the US only, before heading to the UK and Canada at the end of 2024. We are waiting for new details to appear.

At least two platforms will change little compared to the current versions Apple will hold an event tonight where, among other things, it is expected to announce new SoCs for the M3 line.  [caption id="attachment_77843" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] And fresh data from a Bloomberg journalist suggests that the new platforms may not be particularly faster than the current ones. At least some huge increase in characteristics is not yet visible.  If this data is correct, the M3 SoC will have the same configuration as the M2, that is, eight processor cores (four fast and four energy-efficient) and a 10-core GPU.  Apple, aren’t we expecting a 5% increase like Intel? The M3 Pro SoC will have 12 CPU cores and 20 GPU cores, while the M2 Pro has 12 and 19 cores, respectively. That is, the change is very minor.  The M3 Max, in turn, will have 16 CPU cores versus 12 cores for the M2 Max, which already looks very good. But the GPU will have 40 cores versus 38 for the M2 Max.  Of course, you also need to take into account, firstly, the transition to a three-nanometer process technology, and secondly, possible changes in architectures. So new platforms may well be much faster than current ones even with unchanged characteristics. But, unfortunately, there is no data about this yet.  It's also worth noting that the M2 Pro and M2 Max were only introduced in January of this year, and such a quick replacement for them suggests that Apple is still placing a significant bet on new platforms.

The broadcast will start at 3:00 Moscow time This coming night, Apple will hold a presentation that goes under the slogan Scary fast, however, due to the time difference, it will begin not on October 30, as we previously reported, but on October 31 at 03:00 Moscow time. It’s been a long time since two Apple smartphones were in the top 3 of the global DxOMark rating DxOMark specialists have published the results of the iPhone 15 Pro camera test. Just by the fact that the iPhone 15 Pro Max took the second place, one could think of at least the top 5, but the iPhone 15 Pro was located right behind its “big brother”, without losing a single point to it. [caption id="attachment_65097" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] Apple created two of the three best camera phones in the world. The iPhone 15 Pro has the best results in shooting indoors and outdoors, but when shooting at night, things are not so smooth: noise appears. The disadvantages also included a slightly limited dynamic range in the photo, artifacts (various ones), and loss of detail in frames with optical zoom. [caption id="attachment_65098" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] There are more advantages: an effective stabilization system when shooting video, accurate and fast autofocus, excellent detail when shooting in bright light, accurate reproduction of skin tones, etc.

They will be replaced by accessories made from other materials. According to MacRumors, Apple plans to stop producing silicone and fluoroelastomer accessories, replacing them with products made from next-generation, more environmentally friendly materials. Silicone iPhone cases with MagSafe, Sport Band, Solo Loop, and AirTag Loop are mentioned. The rumor comes from Apple device collector and insider Kosutami, who previously shared information about a braided USB-C cable for the iPhone 15, various prototypes such as AirPods in different color options and MagSafe chargers, and more. Apple is expected to discontinue leather iPhone cases after the iPhone 15 lineup, replacing them with accessories made from a premium material sold as FineWoven. [caption id="attachment_54477" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] Apple will abandon not only leather cases, but also all its silicone accessories The cessation of production of silicone accessories will not be immediate. Instead, there will be a more gradual transition where existing models will not be updated with new color options. Accessories will be on sale until stocks last. Apple is also expected to release new accessory designs, such as the Apple Watch FineWoven magnetic buckle band, to replace its previous products. Apple's discontinuation of all leather and silicone accessories is part of a broader shift to more environmentally friendly materials. While Apple's silicone rubber accessories have a lower carbon footprint than their leather counterparts, they are not made from recycled materials. Materials such as fluoroelastomer are also difficult to recycle due to their heat resistance and robust structure. FineWoven is expected to be the first of a new generation of material used by Apple that will replace leather shortly, but it could also displace some silicone accessories at some point. Other new, more environmentally friendly materials will likely appear in other accessories in the future.

Named the pros and cons of switching iPhone 15 to USB-C Apple is set to move the iPhone from Lightning to USB-C, with Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revealing how the company plans to advertise this innovation. Recall that the European Union has required mobile device manufacturers to use the USB-C standard by the end of next year. Apple decided not to wait until the end of next year and added USB-C to all four iPhone 15 models, as well as the case for the new AirPods Pro. “Apple will call this a big win for customers. Get ready to hear about the countless benefits of these changes,” writes Mark Gurman. How Apple will advertise the transition to USB-C: Customers will be able to use one charging cable for iPhone, Mac, and iPad. This will lead to a revolutionary increase in data transfer speed for new high-end iPhone models. In some cases, phones will charge faster. Finally, the phones will be compatible with the chargers used by billions of third-party devices. "Apple will call this a big win for customers" - how Apple will present the "innovative" USB-C [caption id="attachment_52282" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] The company has an ironclad rule: when it introduces a new product or communicates with the media, it always wants to act from a position of strength. Apple's keynote will not mention the European Union and the company has criticized the EU's USB-C requirement many times over the past few years. He added that these changes also have disadvantages for Apple: Apple risks losing some of its licensing revenue from accessory makers that used Lightning. To do this, it is necessary to allocate engineering resources and money. Increased compatibility with the Android ecosystem could make it easier for customers to switch away from Apple. There is always the risk of a PR nightmare. When Apple switched to Lightning in 2012, users were outraged. There was also outrage that the company removed the headphone jack in 2016. The presentation of the iPhone 15 is expected on September 12.
