It will cost Apple $2 billion a year Apple may reportedly become the exclusive owner of the rights to broadcast Formula 1 races.  [caption id="attachment_62121" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] Apple wants exclusive rights to broadcast Formula 1 races If the deal is concluded, the broadcasts will only be available to watch on the Apple TV+ service, which will allow the company to attract completely new viewers.  The deal could cost Apple $2 billion a year. At the same time, even if the deal takes place, initially Apple will not have exclusive rights, since the rights of other companies have not yet expired. However, this will gradually happen, and Apple will ultimately remain the only source of broadcasts. This will happen, however, only in 2029. Apple itself is allegedly seeking to sign a seven-year contract.

Looks like Google's money has won Apple could have bought the Bing search engine several years ago. Bloomberg reports that Apple and Microsoft were in talks on this matter back in 2020. [caption id="attachment_61699" align="alignnone" width="780"] Apple[/caption] Apple could have bought Bing a few years ago and was in talks with Microsoft If the deal were to go through, Bing would come under Apple's wing and become the default search engine on the iPhone and other company products. However, in the end, the deal did not take place. There is no exact data on the reasons, but there may be two main ones. First, Apple management believed that Bing could not compete with Google's search engine. Secondly, Google constantly pays Apple for the fact that its search engine remains a basic solution in Cupertino products. Revenues from this deal amount to billions of dollars a year, and the amounts are constantly growing. Buying Bing would end the deal with Google and lose that source of revenue.

The company has no other choice The company is laying off 830 employees, or about 16% of its workforce. The layoffs come amid Epic's ongoing legal battle with Apple, which began back in 2020. Just this week, Epic Games asked the Supreme Court to hear the case. Epic Games is trying to portray Apple as a monopoly and wants to be able to sell digital skins and other products to Apple customers without having to pay Apple a cut. As a result of the legal dispute, Fortnite has not been available in Apple's app stores for several years now, and those who want to play the game on an iPhone or iPad must look for alternative ways to do so, such as web platforms. [caption id="attachment_61083" align="alignnone" width="600"] Apple[/caption] This is what can happen if you sue Apple for a long time Epic CEO Tim Sweeney said in a memo sent to employees and posted on the company's website that the company is "spending far more money than it makes on Fortnite development" and other cost-cutting efforts have "proven to be far from financially sustainable." Sweeney says layoffs are the only way to stabilize the company's finances. Employees will be provided with severance pay that includes six months of base salary and six months of paid health care. As for the fight against Apple, Sweeney claims that Epic Games is taking steps to reduce legal costs, but will continue legal battles so that "the metaverse can thrive and empower Epic and all other developers."

Users should be able to download applications from sources other than the App Store EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton has publicly called on Apple CEO Tim Cook to open up the company's hardware and software ecosystem to competitors. After meeting Cook in person in Brussels, Breton had this to say: “The next challenge for Apple and other big tech companies under the Digital Markets Act (DMA) is to open their gates to competitors. Whether it's e-wallet, browsers or app stores, consumers using Apple iPhone should be able to take advantage of competitive services from a range of providers." [caption id="attachment_60369" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Apple[/caption] First USB-C, and now this? EU calls on Apple to open its ecosystem to competitors EU Digital Markets Law aims to limit the influence of big tech companies. The law sets out a list of dos and don'ts for Apple and other tech companies to increase competition. It is expected that Apple may add support for downloading apps to iPhones and iPads in Europe beyond the App Store with an iOS update to comply with the new law. Breton criticized Apple's arguments that security and privacy are the company's reasons for protecting its closed ecosystem: "EU regulation promotes innovation without compromising security and privacy." Apple declined to respond to Breton's latest remarks.

Brazil and India occupy the second and third places in the ranking of the highest prices for this model Turkey has won the title of the country with the highest iPhone prices. In this country, where taxes add more than 100% to the price of the phone, the iPhone 15 Pro Max with 1 TB of flash memory is offered for about $3,500. iPhone 15 Pro Max What makes up the $3,500 price for the iPhone 15 Pro Max in Turkey Second place is held by Brazil, where the price is $2,900, and the third place is held by India with a price of $2,400. The Telegram channel “Turkey Agenda” explained what taxes are included in the price of this iPhone 15 Pro Max with 1 TB of flash memory: 1% of the price of the phone as a fee for the preservation of cultural heritage: 430 Turkish lira; 12% of the price of the phone as a fee in favor of the state television channel TRT: 5213 Turkish lira; 50% of the phone price as a special consumption tax (OTV): TL 24,328; 20% of the price of the phone as value-added tax (KDV): 15,499 Turkish lira; 10% of the price is the markup of Apple itself in Turkey: 4514 Turkish lira. All because of very high-quality stabilization In an interview with Numerama's Nicolas Lellouche, Apple's VP of Camera Software Engineering John McCormack explained why the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 5x optical zoom, rather than the 10x zoom of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Apple says the telephoto lens on iPhone 15 Pro Max features its most advanced camera stabilization system yet, combining optical image stabilization and 3D AF sensor shift. McCormack said the iPhone's 5x zoom lens can be stabilized "incredibly well" compared to a 10x zoom lens. [caption id="attachment_58048" align="aligncenter" width="780"] iPhone 15 Pro Max[/caption] “The 5x zoom is something we can stabilize really well,” McCormack said. “If you look at the 10x zoom, unless you have the steadiest hands in the world or a tripod, it's really difficult to use.” Apple's Senior Director of iPhone Product Marketing Maxime Veron, who was also interviewed, added that the iPhone 15 Pro Max's 5x lens has an F/2.8 aperture for "excellent light control." For comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra's 10x lens has an F/4.9 aperture. This aperture on the 15 Pro Max allows the camera's sensor to capture more light, which can be especially useful for night mode photos. This is confirmed by a comparison of smartphones, in which in the dark the 25x digital zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro Max works better than that on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. https://youtu.be/fQH7Igi0J7g?t=672 5x optical zoom is exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, while the iPhone 15 Pro remains limited to 3x optical zoom. Sales of new products will begin tomorrow, September 22.

Sales start tomorrow As it became known, iPhone 15 users will be able to check the number of charge cycles of their battery. Previously, unofficial third-party applications were used to check the number of charge cycles of an iPhone battery. Now information about the number of battery charge cycles is displayed on iPhone 15 models when selecting the Settings, General, and About menu. A new “Battery” section has appeared at the bottom of the page. In addition to the number of battery charging cycles, the section also indicates the production date and activation date. [caption id="attachment_58042" align="aligncenter" width="780"] iPhone 15[/caption] While iPhone battery health has been displayed as "Maximum Capacity" for several years now, being able to see a specific number of cycles is a valuable additional metric for determining battery health. A charge cycle is recorded every time you exhaust the battery's full capacity. iPhone 15 will finally show the number of battery charge cycles Apple's lithium-ion batteries operate on charge cycles. You complete one charge cycle when you have used up an amount equal to 100% of the battery's capacity, but not necessarily all in one charge. For example, you can use 75% of the battery's capacity in one day and then charge it completely overnight. If you use 25% the next day, you will have discharged 100% in total, and two days will be one charge cycle. It may take several days for the cycle to complete. The capacity of any type of battery decreases after a certain number of recharges. For lithium-ion batteries, the capacity decreases slightly with each full charge cycle. [caption id="attachment_58043" align="alignnone" width="780"] iPhone 15[/caption] In addition, in the iPhone 15, you can specify by what percentage the battery should be charged.

MacRumors revealed details about RAM and storage There is less than a day left before the announcement of the iPhone 15 smartphones, but new information continues to appear on the Internet. The MacRumors resource has confirmed data on the memory of new Apple smartphones.  [caption id="attachment_55194" align="aligncenter" width="780"] iPhone 15 Pro Max[/caption] Yes, the base $1,100-$1,300 iPhone 15 Pro Max will still offer 128GB of storage Firstly, there will be no 2 TB in the top version and no 256 GB in the lower ones. Perhaps all this awaits us in the iPhone 16 line, but not this year. That is, the drive options will be the same: 128, 256, 512 GB, and 1 TB. So, if the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,200 or even $1,300 as many rumors say, it will likely be the only smartphone on the market with that price and 128GB of storage. The drives will use NAND memory from various manufacturers: SK Hynix, Western Digital, Kioxia, and Samsung.   There is still no clarity regarding RAM. This will be LPDDR5, but options with 6 and 8 GB of memory were tested. Either the younger versions of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have 6 GB, and the older Pro will have 8 GB or the amount of RAM will differ depending on the amount of flash memory. It may also be that all devices will still receive 8 GB of RAM. Memory chip manufacturers will be Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix.

The development of Apple's proprietary 5G modem has been delayed Apple has extended its agreement to purchase modems from Qualcomm for another three years. This is evidence that work on its own 5G modem is taking longer than previously expected, as reported by Bloomberg. Apple is Qualcomm's largest customer, accounting for nearly a quarter of the company's revenue. Qualcomm said in a statement that the deal with Apple covers smartphone launches in 2024, 2025, and 2026. The agreement was originally set to expire this year, and the iPhone 15 line was rumored to be the last to use Qualcomm modems. Apple has reportedly been working on its modem since 2018, and in 2019 it acquired most of Intel's smartphone modem business. The modem launch dates have already been shifted from 2023 to 2024 and 2025. The iPhone 15 was supposed to be the last smartphone with a Qualcomm modem [caption id="attachment_55154" align="aligncenter" width="600"] iPhone 15[/caption] Earlier this month, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple's proprietary modem would be released in 2025. Qualcomm expects that by the time the new iPhone model is released in 2026, the company's share of iPhone shipments will be 20%. Apple wants its 5G modem to go the way of Apple Silicon, boasting significant battery life and performance advantages.

But it's unclear how long it will take It seems that Apple is still not going to give up developing its own 5G modem . At least this conclusion can be drawn from a fresh interview with the company's senior vice president of hardware technology, Johny Srouji. [caption id="attachment_85245" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] It looks like Apple isn't going to give up. A CNBC journalist directly asked him to comment on rumors that development of the modem had been discontinued. Of course, Srouj did not say anything intelligible, but stated that Apple is interested in its own modem and it has teams that can implement this project. That is, apparently, the Cupertino giant is still not going to curtail development, although you should always keep in mind the possibility that at the time of the interview the company was simply not ready to talk about closing the project.

Tim Cook previously announced record sales in September International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said iPhone shipments in the Chinese market fell more than expected. He added that iPhone shipments in the Chinese market will continue to decline in 2024, which means that the Chinese smartphone market will continue to change due to the return of Huawei. Based on previous financial reports, Apple expects revenue in the fourth quarter of 2023 to be the same as in the fourth quarter of 2022, meaning Apple's performance will be weaker than expected. Ming-Chi Kuo said that the main reason is the decline in demand for iPhone in the Chinese market. Apple is losing the Chinese market: iPhone shipments fell more than expected [caption id="attachment_80747" align="aligncenter" width="780"] Apple[/caption] Analysts at Counterpoint Research said last month that they estimated iPhone 15 sales in the first 17 days of its launch in China were down 4.5% compared with iPhone 14 sales in the same time period. iPhone 15 sales were lower than expected, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, because many Chinese consumers began returning to the Android camp, such as the Huawei Mate 60. Apple CEO Tim Cook previously said the Chinese market is seeing strong demand for iPhones, with iPhone sales in the September quarter setting a quarterly record in China.
