I cannot begin to explain to you how very worth watching it is. It was my biggest obsession pre-911 and buddie. It fully took over my life for like a year. Poppy is one of my favorite female characters in anything ever, and her and Ian's relationship is to me one of the most compelling relationships on television. Are they coworkers? friends? rivals? mentor and mentee? enemies? divorced? partners? do they love each other? hate each other? somehow all of the above. and more.

plus there are many other wonderful dynamics and characters--brad the cutthroat-bordering-on-sociopathic business exec played by dani pudi, dana and rachel 🩷🩷🩷, Jo who is insane and im obsessed with her. there is a beautiful and perfect one-off episode that will make you cry. the whole show is such a biting exploration of the intersection between creativity and capitalism, a fascinating portrayal of rivalry and partnership and the often thin line between the two. thematically the show does not miss and they do not pull their punches. even if you do not care about video games at all (i barely do) it is excellent television.

i will admit season 3 fell short of my expectations but only because seasons 1-2 were so very good. and s3 still contains one of my very favorite episodes.
